My Brother's Best Friend

Rate this book
Growing up, Emerson Asher had always been in love with the boy next door, Graysen. It wasn't easy though, as Graysen was the best friend to Emerson's older brother, Ethan. Out of fear of rejection she never told him her feelings- then he left. Now being years later, he shows back up in her life. Old feelings resurface, and she finally has the opportunity to tell him how she feels. Although he admits to having similar feelings, they can't let anyone know, especially Ethan. Graysen Stevens moved from his hometown as a teenager. As he gets older, he finds out something he should have never known, and as a result moves back home to Austin, Texas. He becomes the boy next door once more. The moment his eyes connect with Emerson's after all these years, he knows he shouldn't be thinking the things he is to a girl he once thought of as his own sister. Temptation gets the best of him though, and now he has more secrets to hide. He can't let anyone know what Emerson and him are doing behind closed doors, and he certainly can't let Emerson know what drove him back home after all this time. Eventually secrets find their way to the surface though. Everything that became ideal in their lives change, and they know that nothing will ever be the same again

I received an unedited copy for an honest review.

This is the first work of P.L. Jenkins I have read. I did enjoy it. I would recommend it for others to read as well.

I have just a few issues with it and that is the reason for the 3 stars.
Em and Greysen ended after going on a road trip because she felt she was nothing to him. Next page she is now okay with that and they are friends with benefits. I could not connect how that happened. Greysen could not reveal his relationship, the reasons given were not sufficient. To say more would be a spoiler.

All said and done and I am happy I read My Brother's Best Friend and will read other works from P.L.

I have to say I was quite impressed with the overall story line, however, there were some parts that were slow and some where it was too fast...meaning content leading up to and after some parts weren't making sense. I wish there were more moments of a younger Emerson & Graysen to show more of what Emerson and Graysen already knew. Despite everyone seeming to know how they felt about each other, the tension and angst was visible. There were moments of love, frustration, joy and sorrow but in the end it all ended as it should have. I wasn't left with a book hangover but I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

*I was given an ARC for an honest review.

Graysen and Emerson were neighbors until he moved away and left her heartbroken. Emerson seems to have a penchant for running away from anything that stresses her and continues to do so throughout this book. Graysen returns to town and attends Em's college graduation as a surprise. Both of their old feelings return to the surface and they decide to keep their affair a secret. This is where things started to go wrong for me. Graysen didn't have to lie to her about what was in Seattle, it was just plain stupid. Em's brother could have explained to her why he didn't want them together, but he didn't. Em acted like a spoiled, rich brat during this whole book. Want to take a year off - do it. Want to buy something - spend mommy and daddy's money without thought or care. Want to go along with a "friends with benefits" thing with Graysen - why not. When things go south - shut everyone out because that's the mature way of dealing with things for a college graduate. Wake up naked with a strange guy - sure. Drink to excess so you "can get your drunk on" just another fun day in the life of Emerson. When tragedy strikes - do you usual and take your "grand adventure" a year early even though I thought it was supposed to be during her year off which was several months in, but what do I know. The girl was just plain immature and didn't have a clue how to cope. Graysen wasn't much better and his downward spiral was just as painful to endure. Both of them threw each other away so many times I was unsure if this was supposed to be a love story. Parts of the book didn't make sense and there was even the end of one POV from Graysen that was then contradicted in the very next chapter from Emerson's POV. This book was loaded with grammar errors and misused words. It is "shake" your head not "shack" your head. This was misused so many times throughout the book that it made my head hurt. There were many more wrong words used and it took away from the book. I don't know who proofread this, but that person needs to be removed from it in the future.

This is one of those stories where the heroine, Emerson, falls in love with the boy next door, her older brother's best friend, Graysen. However, it is definitely not your typical story. There are many twists and turns to this story, ones that will make you both laugh and cry. Those are some of the aspects that make this book such a wonderful story.
Emerson never tells anyone of her feelings for Graysen, she is very afraid of rejection. Then, Graysen and his family move away, breaking Emerson's heart. Several years pass, and Emerson is at her college graduation. There is Grayson with her brother to congratulate her. Seeing him again, she realizes she never got over him, and Graysen admits to feeling the same way. They keep their feelings a secret, because Graysen has secrets of his own.
You will need to read this book to find out if Emerson and Graysen get their Happily Ever After.
This is a great story. I was given an ARC of "My Brother's Best Friend" for my honest review and the book is definitely worth doing the "Buy now with 1-Click" thing that so many of us are addicted to. This is the first book I have read from PL Jenkins, and I will absolutely look forward to reading more from this wonderful author in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. Have a great day, and happy reading.

Emerson and Grayson's love have known each other forever. She's also loved him forever. Grayson grew up next door and is her brother, Ethan's, best friend. Her whole life she's been told that she's like his sister and nothing more. So she loves him from afar, until her moves away.

Fast forward to Emerson's college graduation where Grayson shows up with Ethan and she realizes the attraction she has for Grayson is still there and maybe he feels it too. The only obstacle is both their families. So they hide their relationship until one day they're found out and everything changes then.

Grayson moved home to Texas from Seattle and what he left behind is still affecting his life. Ethan knows all about this as does both of their parents. It seems the only person who doesn't know the whole story is Emerson. When she finds out she leaves and joins her best friend in Florida. From there they head all over ending up in Hawaii. She moves on and so does Grayson but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants....

I don't like spoilers so I wont' say if they reunite and are able to overcome the many obstacles that have affected their relationship. I will, however, tell you that their story will bring out every emotion you can imagine.

Emerson grew up lving the boy who lived next door Greyson, who also happened to be her oldest brothers best friend. She never told Greyson how she felt then he was gone leaving her broken hearted.Years later Greyson returns, having found something out hes back where he started right next door to Emerson but hes conflicted, having secrets, having feelings for Emerson who was always like a sister to him growing up.Theyve both moved on but they cant deny what they are feeling and begin a secret affair.Secrets never stay secret for long so what happens when the truth comes out? Will Emerson and Greyson ever get their own happy ever after?
This book took me on a whirlwind of emotion,it was beautifully written,I loved the characters and the story and you will need tissues!!Its not your typical falling for your brothers friend story which is really refreshing, theres a few twists and turns that will keep you guessing. Its emotional yes,but has some laughs in there too.I read this almost in one go loved it!!!

I was given this book in return for my honest opinion.

We meet Emerson Asher who is in love with the boy next door Graysen. But Emerson's older brother Ethan is best friends with him. There are two things stopping Emerson from telling Graysen how she feels.

1: Emerson's brother is his best friend

2: She is scared of the rejection

Due to these two factors Graysen leaves town without ever knowing how Emerson feels about him.

Years later Graysen appears back in town and once against he's the boy next door. As soon as he sets eyes on Emerson he realises that he has feelings for his best friends little sister. In return Emerson finally builds up the courage to tell Graysen how she felt all those years ago.
Graysen in return admits that he also has feelings for her but both agree because of Ethan he cannot found out.

Graysen cannot let Emerson the real reason why he's back in town.

This book keeps you guessing if there love will survive everything that is thrown at them.

WOW what can you say about this book without giving everything away.
This book is Hot.
The Little Sister to her brother and his best friend, the boy next door.
I wish I had a boy next door when I was growing up.
To have a crush on someone when you are 10 and have that person move away, heart breaking.
Fall in love with a boy with cancer who teaches you to live for the moment and not hold back, wonderful teaching.
8 years later to face the boy who first broke your heart to HEA
To have that relationship you can not let anyone know about in fears of hurting the one you love.
Having it all ripped away and trying to move on without the boy next door.
heart breaking and wonderful book.

Ok so I'm supposed to write a review after reading this book!!! Crap... My emotions are all over the place.... The heartache after heartache Emerson went through broke me!!! Graysen had his own crap dumped on him( not figuratively!!!) ..... They hurt each other as well but doesn't the one you love most hurt you the most???? If you are looking for light and airy this book is not for you!!! If you are looking for a book to crush your heart and make you want to throw your ebook reader then this is definitely for you!!!!! I really did love this book and look forward to marks story and maybe Brandie will get one too???

I received an unedited copy for an honest review.

So, I'm not really sure how to rate this book.... I loved it and it drove me crazy.
This was my first time reading an unedited book so I gave it a little lattitude. Once I got used to the unedited writing, I got into the book and was enjoying it until a few heart wrenching events happened rather quickly and I got lost. It needed a little more flow in that area for me. It was a bit too quick... I needed more. The ending was not a cliffhanger and wrapped everything up quite nicely.

It was an enjoyable story and I will definitely be reading more of this Authors books.

I am giving this one two stars because, well she had the courage to publish..

but damn, maybe before she hit publish she could have gotten an editor to look at it?
There are so many mistakes, it got really annoying. The writing, well there was no connection...it was like a 12 year old had written it...

thank god it was only 99cents i wasted.

Definitely do not waste your time on this one.

A complex and slightly dark romance. The characters and the dynamics of the families were complex and distorted from the normal accepted behaviour. The story was intriguing and was interesting. I found the sex scenes almost emotionless which didn't quite fit into the story, especially as it was romance not erotica. The epilogue & ending felt rushed so didn't leave me feeling completely satisfied by the read.

A beautiful love story full of emotions. Love, heartache, loss all combine to give you a great story. I enjoyed reading this book, even though at times it made me cry. It also has a reminder to watch what you say to someone, you may never get the chance to apologize or make up.

I'm looking forward to reading more from Mrs. Jenkins.

I did. I truly lived reading about Emerson and Graysen. I just couldn't get past the misspelled words and errors in grammar. :-(

Wow!!! P.L. Jenkins had me hooked from page one.

Emerson has always loved her brother's best friend and neighbor Graysen. However, she was always thought of as the "little sister." These feelings were kept a secret until the day that Graysen moved away.

They both moved on with their lives and had not seen/talked to one another until Emerson's college graduation. She had thought she moved on from her feelings until that day. Now how will she handle knowing Graysen will be right next door again?

Will Emerson's feelings from so long-ago go unnoticed or will Graysen take notice and reciprocate those feelings?

I love how P.L. had Emerson and Graysen go through so many obstacles (good and bad) to get to where they ended up. (I don't want to spoil it so I will not say if they end up together.) This really made the characters seem real to me because so many of these obstacles are things that you may go through in life.

This book was a roller coaster of twists (obstacles) and emotions. I laughed, cried and even yelled at the characters in the book. In the end I loved how P.L. gave a love story that was unlike others.

OMG, what can I say, this will have you an emotional wreck towards the end. The is young love that is broken, then after years apart Em & Greyson are back in the same place and those broken feelings are back in force until truths are told and a loved one is killed where their hurt will destroy their love. Or will it? With things looked like everyone is happy in their own lives and new loves are really Em and Grason truly happy or will it take a devious girlfriend to do more righting a wrong then she throughout. They do have a HEA but the only problem I had was there were a few skipping ahead and getting me a bit minded up on what just happened other then that I really did enjoy this long lost soul mates and their heart braking journeying each other's arms for good.

This is a true love story of two that have loved each other forever but something or someone has always gotten in their way. They have to fight to get to each other and when they do it's magical. Just if things would stop getting in there way. Which keeps us reading so we can go thru their journey to hope beyond hope they get their HEA.

This is my first PL Jenkins book and i love how she took a love story and gave us the layers that this one does. When people are meant to be they are it's just getting there that takes time, which we get to enjoy in this book. This author will be on my watch list to add to my TBR list.

I was given an ARC for my honest review.

My Brothers Best Friend is a standalone book by P.L. Jenkins. The storyline was interesting but definitely had some issues. At times I thought the story dragged and I had to push myself to keep going. I liked the characters and thought there was definitely some chemistry....I loved the history between the characters. The one thing I did think really helped the storyline was the unexpected twist in the story....I wasnt prepared for that and I think it did add a extra layer to this book.

What a story

This story had me so conflicted. One minute I loved Greyson and the next I wanted to slap him.

Em and Greyson have a history that's full of secret love for each other. Grey is Em's brothers best friend and although he has tried to deny his attraction to his best mates little sister he finds it impossible to stay away from her. Tragedy strikes and these 2 go their separate ways but fate always has a plan and a happy ending takes place.
