Indefensible
Recently, Stephen Hawking issued his warning of humanity’s next great threat—autonomous weapons. He believes their versatility and capability will make autonomous weapons “the Kalashnikovs of tomorrow.” With the perspective of thirty-years as the CEO of private and public technology companies, Thomas Banks reached a similar conclusion. Like Hawking, Banks believes drones pose a genuine, maybe indefensible, threat to national security. In only twenty years, drones have expanded beyond the battlefield to be used by the likes of Amazon and common citizens. And soon.....terrorists.
Indefensible explores the consequences of inexpensive micro-drones, assembled in garages and basements of embedded terrorists, each laden with C4, shrapnel and deadly biologics. In Indefensible, benign micro-drones evolve to a frightening level wreaking havoc in our own backyard where, due to their intrinsic stealthiness, size, operating altitude and speed, are virtually undetectable and very likely, Indefensible.
Indefensible introduces a new and frightening terror regime—Lone Wolf Technology-Jihadism. Although operating independently, Technology-Jihadists are coordinated across the globe by invisible remote leadership through social media. Leadership guiding their Lone Wolves to deploy coordinated armadas of deadly drones wreaking terror and destruction.
In Indefensible Thomas Banks blends autonomous technology with new-age cyber warriors milling invisibly within our cities and towns driving innocuous soccer-mom-mini-vans delivering their C4 and biologic laden weapons.
The thought of C4 laden micro-drones in itself is frightening. Unfortunately the logical inclusion of more dastardly biological contaminants such as Anthrax or RICIN is apocalyptic. Regardless of their payloads, swarms of drones each weighing only a few pounds and flying close to the ground will be invisible to radar detection and prove catastrophic and indefensible.
In Indefensible we learn that no venue is safe or immune from this new-age attack system. Imagine fifty autonomous explosive laden micro-drones as they swarm buildings, sports arenas or outside gatherings of innocent and unwitting citizens. But yet, buildings are not the only viable targets for these unmanned instruments of disaster. Freeways, bridges, tunnels, cruise ships and even fully loaded airliners will fall victim. Drones have not only changed the fabric and tempo of warfare, they have ushered in a new era of remote and impersonal terror.

I loved it . It really starts you thinking about terrorism in a different way. It is like it's torn out of today's news-- really current, a real wake up call. You won't look at terrorism the same again .
This is one story that gets into your head, it did mine. If the author intended for you to start thinking differently about terrorism he achieved his goal. This story evokes a surprising strong emotional response.
A very thought-provoking sci-fi thriller . Or is it sci-fi ? That is the real question. This story is a real conversation starter and I hope our intelligence services are reading it as well as the public.
This novel is easy to get into from the start. It has the technology details and research to make it totally believable and scary .. I will never look at drones the same way again--ever.
It is a story driven novel, very creative-- twists and turns along the way--keeps you guessing to the end. Story gets into your head and keeps you thinking long after you have read it. It would make an exciting movie.
I definitely would read a sequel. I enjoyed it very much and I recommended it highly.

Hold On It’s Going To Be A Bumpy Ride
Mr. Bank’s book is going to put you on the edge of your seat and keep you there throughout. The really scary part is it could happen any day. The characters are real and could be your next door neighbors. This is a book that will make your heart beat fast and you will think about it long after you read it.

Good read
This book shows us a new way of fighting wars using technology. Author presents drones as the main weapon for bad guys who want to cause harm. But, the heroes in the story find a smart way to fight back using a video game called “Drone On.”
The story focuses on different characters, including teenagers Ricky and Pete, who use their gaming skills to help protect their country.The book also gives us a peek into the challenges faced by leaders when they have to make tough decisions to keep people safe.
The book doesn’t just stick to one place; it takes us around the world and shows how problems in one country can affect others. Sometimes it feels a bit too much like a fantasy because of all the high-tech solutions. Also, it can make some very serious topics seem too simple.
It’s makes you think about how even the things we do for fun, like playing video games, could one day be a part of something much bigger. If you’re interested in stories about technology, adventure, and how ordinary people can do extraordinary things, you might really enjoy this book.

Drone Technology - New weapons of Destruction
A chilling book in which the author poses the question, is the US prepared for our drone technology to be used against us in a potentially devastating drone attack? Like a scientist Banks explains the elements of drone technology, for example the planes people fly with remote controls. This book examines what would happen if a world-wide drone attack occurred in the US and although it is fiction, it was scary. The book reads well, as if you are a part of the Military of Defense. It was fast-paced and exciting. I learned a lot too and think our military needs to read this book and our citizens need to be educated as to the future of warfare. Highly recommend.

A fictional novel with a disturbing, but true commentary about how "...If we continue to develop our technology without wisdom or prudence, our servant may prove to be our executioner." - Omar Bradley. Indefensible is a riveting, intriguing tale about a world too dependent on technology, and how that can be a double edged sword. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Imagine sitting in a large stadium for a sporting event or just simply enjoying yourself on a weekend in a local park with thousands of other people. Suddenly you see some some small drones coming your way. At the sports stadium you at first think it's part of a show that's going on for some special reason or in the park that some kids are playing with the drones they got for Christmas the year before. Suddenly that all changes when you see the drones crash into the stands and exploding killing and injuring hundreds or thousands of people. You see the same thing in the park as the drones crash into a baseball diamond where two Little League teams are battling for first place.
This is a new breed of terrorism! The Islamic State has found a new weapon of terror to be used against the United States and it's allies. Small, innocent looking drones that can be programmed to autonomously fly to and destroy any target within their range and wreak havoc where ever they crash.
How can these be defended against?
If you never read another book this entire year you must read this one! Every person in the government from the President on down to the lowest staffer should read Indefensible and before this really does happen they should be working on a defense for these.
Mr. Banks has a real winner in this book. I'm waiting to see if there will be a sequel which when getting to the end of the book it reads, at least to me, like there should be one.

As a supporter of Indie authors, I found this debut novel INDEFENSIBLE, by Thomas Banks via Twitter. The synopsis sounded. Intriguing with the scenario of national defense attacks against drones; I was disappointed.
I am a character driven reader, and the characters Mr. Banks developed were superficial. I didn't find one character I could identify with.
The storyline has great potenial, yet while it's obvious he did his technical research, the middle lagged with repetition and the ending was disappointing.
I am unable, at this time, to recommend this novel.

Fantastic read
I'm not often drawn to stories of ordinary things assuming entirely different purposes. However, this fast moving action tale is absolutely addictive. It's amazing how average people can adapt to an "out of the box" concept and work together to protect their country. Highly recommend it!!

Absolutely loved this book!
This book was chock full of action from start to finish. Kudos to the author for the realism of the technology and the terrifying realization that the events in this story could actually come true.
