Cade MacDonald is a man who has always had a sense of right and wrong. He fights for justice and does not back down in the face of danger. As a member of Others, a supernatural race of powerful, fierce shifters, who do not accept or sympathise with any Humans, or any race other than their own, he now finds himself in a battle with the Other Society’s leaders as they oppose his attempt to save the life of a young half-breed.
Fighting to do the right thing, Cade is simultaneously faced with the unexpected attraction he feels for his best friend’s sister. Having grown up with Gemma, he is confused and torn at the strong pull of his wolf towards this beautiful tiger.
Willing to accept any repercussions of his rebellious actions, will he go as far as to lose the love of his life in the process?
My name is Mason Sabre. I have been writing since I was a small child and discovered I could have a million adventures at the stroke of my pencil (I wasn't allowed to use pen back then). I have written more stories than I could even publish, some of them I wouldn't ever put out, but I have had a blast writing them. I love writing, I love reading. I love to have a fictional adventure. When I am not doing that I am with my children or studying. I have a lifelong love of learning too.
I live in the North of England. It's a little chilly here and a little wet, but it is what I call home and where pretty much all of my stories are based.
This is the second book in Mason Sabre’s Society Series and it continues the amazing journey begun in the first, shifting to the story of Cade (wolf shifter and member of the Others), his protection of young Phoenix (a half-breed destined for extermination), and a romance with his best friend’s sister, Gemma, a tiger shifter—an oh by the way—the moral codes of the Society forbid their love.
Evocative writing pulls you in from the first page, wraps its tight tendrils around your heart, your mind, your very essence, and carries you into and through another world. The power of this series is in not only in the wonderfully creative story line, but in the imagery and strength of the words. You’ll find yourself entranced and hooked, and very pleased you ONE-CLICKED this book.
Cade and Gemma’s story is one of a great love, for not only each other, but for those around them. It’s a tale of love, courage, determination, and perseverance despite the personal cost. You will fall in love with Cade and Gemma, and may even find your heart breaking for Phoenix, the young half-breed whose story continues in this story.
This is a fantastic series, with more to come. If you haven’t read any of Mason’s books, then stop waiting, click away and get swept into the magical realm of Humans and Others.
Having read countless of books about shifters I can safety say that this is one of the best I have encountered in ages. It's pitch black in parts with pinpricks of light dancing on the edges trying valiantly to beat back the shadows. The world building is nothing new but the way it is rendered out like a painting on a canvas is really exceptional. The hardest part for me is to abstain from reading the next two books in the series all at once as they are already available.
I had been not so patiently waiting for Cade since reading The Rise of the Phoenix and had quite a few expectations of this second book in the Society series. Not only did Mason meet those expectations he blew them clear out of the water! Cade is the whole package, protective and strong but also gentle, caring and sexy. The chemistry between Cade and Gemma is hot hot hot! My heart was breaking for Phoenix but I was able to see glimpses of the man he will become, one example being when he became the caregiver. The bond he has with Cade...so awesome. Also, I can't wait for Stephen's story and am soooo glad he is not one of the characters in this book that I hope land on a sharp stick or two. This book pulled me in and once I started I could not put it down. It had a great storyline, the characters had depth and emotion and by the end I wanted to jump in and be part of their little group. I love Masons take on shifters, it isn't a typical pnr and kept me guessing and I love it! If you haven't read any of Masons books do yourself a favor and read The Rise of the Phoenix and read Cade and then you can join me and the rest of his fans going crazy waiting for the next one!
Wow! This book is intense! The character development was exceptional. The story line you could put in today's society with all of the bigotry, bullying and spite. I absolutely loved how the characters of Cade, Gemma & Steven stood up for what was right and didn't follow what was expected of them, gotta love the rebels! This story is the continuation of Phoenix, a 14 yr old boy that wanted to help his mom but things went horribly wrong. Cade, Gemma and Steven banded together and fought for what was right even though it could cost them their lives. The never ending battle between the humans and the others. I have read a lot of shifter stories but this one is so unique and superbly written that I have not found it's equal. LOVED THE ENDING! There was a good ending but it also let you know that there will be more to this series...so many questions that need to be answered. Well done Mr. Saber you have a real gift and look forward to reading more.
Wow! I love this book! This is the second book in the Society Series and I'm loving this series and looking forward to the next book. Mason's writing is so out of this world amazing. I was hooked on this book from the first page and unable to put it down till I finished. Cade & Gemma have such a great love for each other & those around them. I'm just so in love with these characters. Poor Phoenix broke my heart and had me in tears many times. An amazing must read book!
Boom!! Get ready for an action packed thrilling ride of fiction at its finest! I'm continually blown away by the power Mason Sabre has to weild words into the finest tale!
Cade and Phoenix...their father/son like bond was strong nearly from the beginning. Sabre does an astounding job of letting the reader into the link of these powerful 'others', his descriptive detail making you feel like you are a part of this emotional tale. I loved witnessing the way we see Cade and Phoenix's link flourish. Cade has the perfect combination of compassion and bravery with enough alpha mixed in to be the perfect teacher and role model for the young wolf, showing him the ways of 'The Society'. Here we watch With Cade's support we witness Phoenix grow from the frightened lost pup into his role as a pack member.
And Cade and Gemma? It was like a slow smoldering burn, feeling the incredible attraction between these two! Cade and Gemma's feelings growing stronger and more potent as the story unfolded. He couldn't keep his eyes off her and she couldn't stay away from him. My heart pounded when they finally came together as one! This was a love that had festered for years and finally blossomed into the perfect romance.
I have to be honest. I'm usually not a huge fan of fantasy romance but I took a chance on this one because I'm a fan of Mr Sabre, and I'm so glad I did! I'm looking forward with anticipation to the next book in this series! This fantasy has it all...heart, romance, thrilling action, suspense, and some nice alpha males to enjoy!
Mason Sabre's writing technique is so incredibly different than any other author I've read. He has his own unique way of luring his readers into his tales and holding you captive to the very end. Its so refreshing to delight in a read unlike any other. Simply put...he has a way with words! I'd definitely recommend anyone add this to their soon to be read list!
I received an ARC in exchanged for an honest review, So....Where to Start, Well... Cade is the second book in the Society Series, and it is brilliant, Cade took Phoenix in when he found him half starved and half dead, he cares for him both physically and emotionally, which leads to a whole lot of trouble for him. He falls in love with someone he isn't supposed to fall in love with, and that brings a whole lot more trouble. I love Cade he is kind, loving, and caring, all the things his father doesn't like about him. This book broke my heart in places for Phoenix and Cade, but it also made me laugh, certain things that happened had my heart thumping and more than once i said " oh no" outloud, This book really takes you into their lives and on their adventures, it pulled me in right from the start and kept me there, i couldn't put it down, i was right there with them, i could literally see the trees and smaell the grass, i was right there in the cage room with them, i could picture the road they were travelling on as Mason describnes everything so well, I loved Phoenix book 1, I didn't think the writing and the story telling could get any better, but it does, What i also like is that Mason doesn't leave it on a cliff hanger, you know you are going to get more in the next book, but it's not left in a bad place, Thank you Mason for letting me read an Arc, i can't wait for the next book.

I love, love, love this series. Mason has done such a wonderful job in creating this Other world. You are shown this relationship that develops between Cade and Phoenix in all it wolf linking ways. The rules that govern the humans and the Others and their hatred of one another and ways of life. The complexity of the different rules of the others society and inner workings is intense. The love formed between two species who are forbidden and the dangers. The distrust of the unknown in all things from both sides. Mason has such a wonderful way of telling the story and bring you along for the extraordinary ride with him. I hope we get to learn more of Stephen next!!
This series has me hooked. The series creates an amazing new paranormal world with a seamless blend of romance and action. The plot and the detail are constantly growing making one eager for more. The characters in this book are absolutely fascinating. Complex characters with so much depth and background that you want to get to know each individual more. Very well written by an author who breathes life into his characters, providing the reader with numerous gut-wrenching and heart-warming moments. The plot draws you in and makes it difficult to put the book down. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next one in the series.
Loved every.single.page! Just like Phoenix, Mason makes you connect with his characters. I cried, laughed, fell in love, and felt relief throughout this book. The story felt complete, however it leaves the story to continue on with character expansion. Great read, more than worth the $3

Beautifully crafted, this story had it all. Tender heartbreaking moments, hot sizzling attraction and raw emotion, this book had me glued to my kindle. Homeless half breed Phoenix is trapped between two races; the Humans and the Others and is not accepted by either. As a scared young boy, who doesn't understand his powers, Phoenix's life is in danger. Although an Other, Cade is drawn to Phoenix and due to the growing bond that they form, Cade will do everything in his power to protect the boy from both races. With the help from his friends, Stephen and Gemma, we witness the struggles that they all face in protecting the boy. Further complications occur when the mutual attraction between Gemma and Cade explode between the two friends. A coupling that is doomed from the start as Gemma is Tiger and Cade is Wolf (a no no in the Others Society), this relationship added further depth to the story.
Congratulations Mr Sabre on this truly fantastic tale. I can't wait to read more from this series.
What a powerful continuation of the society series.
Cade was such a caring and compassionate character who always believes in doing the right thing, despite what others may think. In this case the right thing was taking care of Phoenix, a newly changed human from the first book. Having read everything Phoenix went through in the previous book, it was nice to see him get the help he needed in order to come to terms with his new reality.
Gemma, Cade's love interest was also awesome. She was not only had the same amount of compassion as Cade, but the girl had spunk. The mix of their personalities definitely made for some umm steamy personal interactions (fanning myself)
Despite the serious themes in the book, There were some funny parts. My favorite was when Phoenix had to go "read" while Cade and Stephen had a "talk."
Boom!! Get ready for an action packed thrilling ride of fiction at its finest! I'm continually blown away by the power Mason Sabre has to weild words into the finest tale!

Wow! This book really needs more than five stars. The author has you drawn from the beginning and keeps you hooked till the very end. This para read will keep you on your toes but also draw you in with the characters.
Cade was always the outcast in his family and his father never liked him. He worked for the DSA and didn't like how things were going. He finds a boy in the middle of the forest but can't let him stay there. He takes him under his protection and will do anything to save him. He has his best friend and his sister with him, only Cade feels more for Stephen sister Gemma than he lets on. As things go on Cade must do what is right and that is saving Phoenix.
This book will keep you on your toes and you'll want to know how things play out. The characters have a way in connecting with you. So much happens in this book that you'll get hooked. You'll feel some emotions and parts of the story will feel so real.
Great job to the author on an amazing book. I highly recommend.
I was so looking forward to the next installment in the Society series after having read Rise of the Phoenix, and I have to say, I was not disappointed! I always find that while reading any of Mason Sabre's work, I am invariably struck by the complexity and the ingenuity of his plots. This is an author of great imagination and amazing creativity.
I love romance in the books I read, but it has to be combined with a good measure of action and adventure. I need an awesome plot and something that will keep me reading and guessing. What draws me to a book is good writing and its storyline, and if either is bad, it has lost me. Cade covers all the bases of an amazing read, and I truly enjoyed every minute of it.
The world of 'Others' is one I am already fascinated by, and I love the whole concept behind it. Rules and laws they need to abide by, and leaderships they need to respect, no matter how vile some may be. It's an intriguing world that totally lures you in. The love story between Cade and Gemma is one wrought with hardships and problems--and I absolutely love that. I enjoy when there are obstacles to overcome in order for our main characters to be together. I hate it when things are too easy for them. The chemistry between them is explosive, and it practically jumps out of the pages at you. The sexual tension is there, throughout the book, and it has you on the edge of your seat just waiting to see how on earth they are going to overcome their obstacles. They are both characters you can relate to, dealing with the kind of problems we all face--whether it is family relations or matters of the heart.
The storyline in general is very clever, and it keeps you guessing. I don't want to say too much about it because I feel I will give away things that are better to experience while reading. Suspense and excitement and fear even--they are all there. It has all the ingredients of a winner. While Cade and Gemma are our most central protagonists, we are also introduced to numerous other characters, along with Phoenix, our little protagonist from the first of the Society series. He has already won our heart from the very first book, but I think you get to love him even more in Cade. There is a large range of different personalities we encounter, but I know that Stephen is the one I am most looking forward to reading more about. His snarky arrogance is something that will attract any reader, I think. Lots of strange and wonderful gifts this Other has are alluded to, and I anxiously await the continuation!
I am so excited to have found such an amazing new series! Well done, Mason Sabre. True talent is rare, but you are most obviously one of the people who belong to the group of writers who possess it! Highly recommended to all!!
I just love this book; I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s an amazing continuation to The Rise of the Phoenix. Plots, sub plots, a beautiful love story, Cade has it all….
We’re reintroduced to Phoenix from Book One and his internal struggle with becoming a Half Breed Other. There’s a beautiful slow burning relationship between Cade and Gemma, a relationship that is taboo amongst The Others as Cade is Wolf and Gemma is Tiger. Mason is the Master of Tease, that is all I can say without giving too much away. We meet Stephen, an Alpha tiger and Gemma’s older brother. A loveable rogue who has an uncanny sixth sense that the Author alludes to; there’s a story there and I am very interested to find out what it is. Friendships are tested; war is on the horizon between The Others and The Humans; It's all happening in the realm of The Others, but you never lose sight of the story and its interweaving threads.
Congratulations Mason, it is worthy of so much more than 5 stars. Now, when is Book 3 due for release ?????
Wow! What a great story of love and loyalty! Mason Sabre knocked this genre on its arse and g ave it new meaning. A must read and I will be binge reading this author!! 5 out of 5 stars.
“One person was never just one person. You made the decision to do the right thing and took the first step. Then, gradually, others would follow. But someone had to be brave enough to dare. Somebody had to take that first step.”
Cade by Mason Sabre (as a side note, it is listed here on Goodreads as number two in the series. On amazon it is listed as first, apparently there is a 50-page prequel that dives into the back story of Phoenix. I did NOT read that story before this one.)
4.0/5.0 So, I am relatively new to the Urban fantasy/ Paranormal genre of books. Over the last year I have read several, a lot of indies and self-published to be honest. To me most I would consider to be Urban fantasy with some romance on the side. This, I think, maybe the first book I have read that I would officially classify as a ‘Paranormal Romance’… So yay me? I guess.
~Story~ The Story is mostly told from a third person narrative, alternating between a few different perspectives. It follows two main plot lines, first is the rescue and protection of a Half-breed from not only humans but the supernatural in this world, known as the ‘Others’. The second is the aforementioned romance (illicit and outlawed of course, because that’s how they always are) between our main character Cade and Gemma. While nothing ground breaking or genre defining, there was really nothing to complain about. There were a couple of inconstancies I thought with some plot details here and there, especially with the romance, but nothing really too distracting. I don’t really remember where they are in the world but I believe it is somewhere in the UK. The Others dynamic I thought was cool to learn about, especially the silver cage punishments, but really, they were all old werewolf/shifters tropes and cliches (Silver equals bad, have to change for the full moon, etc.). To my knowledge we had representation for the Wolfs, the Tigers, and the Foxes. It would be fun to learn more about any other breeds of Others, if indeed there are any.
~Characters~ So to start off we have Cade Macdonald, main protagonist a resident titular character. To be honest I did enjoy his character, he is a little goody goody, regardless of that I still enjoyed his perspective. He has a fierce loyalty to protect people around him which I found. He is joined by other characters to name a few: •Gemma (Tiger): Love interest and friend. •Stephen (Tiger): Best friend, brother to Gemma •Phoenix (Wolf/Half-Breed): Adopted brother of sorts, mentee •Trever (Wolf): Cades father, Alpha of Clan •Aaron (Wolf): Cades Brother, Beta of Clan •Malcom (Tiger): Father of Gemma and Stephen, Alpha over all ‘Others’ •Patterson (Jackass): Jackass To be honest all characters are well written. There are some depths I would have like to see as well as some character flaws that we all have. The romance really took up much of the development time for Cade so we really could see his character gain depth or grow as much as I would have liked. I feel like there were a couple of good opportunities here and there, they just weren’t taken.
~Writing~ The writing was well done. I honestly am not sure if this is a self-published book (it is on kindle unlimited). There was maybe a mistake or two, but nothing that was distracting what so ever. The character POV shifts were well done, there were a couple of time I got confused in what perspective I was in but it was never that bad. The pace was steady but never really picked up to the point where I like my books to get, but at the same time it was never really that slow either. There was one conflict at the end of the book and that was really it. In the future I hope that we get to see a little more action because I did enjoy it at the end there.
~Final Thoughts~ Cade was a fun ride and I think returning to the world to see what happens is in my near future. I think if people know what they are getting into here, then they will have a good time tearing through the book. Now where did I put my Kindle.
When we start to put our lives before others, when we let someone die so that we don’t suffer, then you can say sorry to me.
This paranormal shifter novel pulled at my heartstrings through every page. I was reluctant at first to read this story only because I am super picky about my shifter reads. I love a shifter novel that has you wishing to be a wolf, tiger, panther, bear, or any other animal you can think of when they describe what it would feel like to have your senses heightened, the feel of running and feeling the wind against your fur and all kinds of amazing things that you wish you had as human. But also making you feel uneasy about the way it feels when you shift when your bones crack into place to become the animal and the itchy feeling you have when your animal is just on the surface of your skin begging to come out, and the gruesome life of an animal on a hunt for their prey.
Not only did this book have all my needs for a shifter novel required it had that and more. Yes more! In Cade by Mason Sabre we had a few different point of views one from Cade, another from the Half-Breed, and in Gemma's point of view.
In the Half-Breeds point of view we get to see him battle his guilt of killing and being attacked will definitely have you being sad for him and fall in love with him by wanting to know him more and make him happy. But you will also see him battle the need to fit in and feel like he's wanted and belonged. With his past he wants to forget and move on but when he see's that everyone he care's about is getting hurt he believes its his own fault, so when a opportunity presents itself he will do anything to make it right.
Cade working as Law Enforcer for the Others is put in a predicament when he find the Half-Breed soaked in blood, urine and barely alive. His duty is to bring him and or leave him to the Humans but he can't manage to when he notices the boy he found is a child. Their was something about the boy that prevented him to turn him in but also he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he turned him in to the Humans. Being a Half-Breed means he was bitten and it was against their laws to be bitten and doing the biting. So who would have done this especially to a child. In Cades point of view Cade's life couldn't be any messier. Not only is he hiding a Half-Breed and could be punished, exiled, or even killed for doing so but he is also in love with his best friends sister and nothing could be messier than that because not only does he need to stay away in fear of betraying his best friend but she is also a tiger and tigers and wolves shouldn't be together. Its wrong! or so he should believe.
This novel was completely action packed that would keep you on your toes wondering what will happen next, you not only have one Alpha males but two, not wolf alphas but two sexy men one tiger and one wolf! You also have scene's that will make your blood boil in hate and demand to slap the person, but also leaving you breathless when you start to notices the love that forms between Cade, Gemma and the Half-Breed.
Want to take a journey through the eyes of wolves and what love can do to make a difference for a boy who feels alone in the world and knows nothing about what it takes to be apart of a pack and the Others Society?
Pick up this book and you wont be disappointed. Unless your not into paranormal books then don't.
I wasn't disappointed and loved everything about this story! I hope Mason comes out with more on this series! And will try to wait patiently for the next book.
Mason Sabre irrevocably hooked me with Cade (The Society #2), perfect continuation to the unexpected, intriguing, and promising The Rise Of The Phoenix (The Society #1).
There’s nothing new in this story about shifters, but at the same time everything is new and everything works like magic. I love the way Mason Sabre writes with such finesse and elegance. His characters are complex and appealing. There’s a lot of angst and suspense, with unexpected twists and turns that just made the pages fly by in this story.
Cade is a wolf shifter, son of an Alpha and member of the Society. His powerful bond with Phoenix, a half-breed destined for extermination, and his love for Gemma, a tiger shifter (and his best-friend’s sister), are both forbidden by the moral codes of the Society…
“Sometimes we have to make the decisions that will make the difference.”
It is a beautiful and heart-breaking story about love, courage, and sacrifice. Written like a painting, enchanting and enthralling.

This was such a great story! It broke the paranormal mold. There were so many layers to this story. I enjoyed that this book was thought provoking but by no means preachy. I must say the chemistry between Cade and Gemma was palatable! They had some very sensual encounters. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Cade and Phoenix evolve. On the other hand it was tough to see Stephen react the way he did towards Gemma and Cade. But sometimes, you hurt the people you love the most. I highly recommend this book and the series. Be sure and pick up "The Rise of the Phoenix" in order to fully enjoy this read. Get ready to lose yourself in this heart stopping and emotionally fueled story!!
This was a great way to continue the story of Phoenix and introduce us to the shifter who rescued him, Cade. It is a well-written story with lots of real emotion as we see Cade struggle with Other Society rules against letting half-breeds live and Cade's conscience telling him Phoenix is worth saving. We also get another glimpse of Cade's inner battle with Society morality as he decides whether or not to act on his taboo attraction to Gemma, a tiger shifter and his best friend's younger sister. Mason Sabre has a gift for letting us live in new worlds and this book is no exception. We get to glimpse the brutal rules of both Human and Other Societies. There are more books planned for the series and I am eager to read them as this author knows how to spin captivating and enthralling tales!
