Not until twenty-eight year-old billionaire Rylan Archer decides to test the walls Jenna's put up, forcing her to wonder if maybe it's time to let someone in.

M. S. Parker specializes in crafting addictive series that push boundaries and keep you guessing until the very last page. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions, where passion is a weapon and love is the ultimate prize. Dive into the darkness. You might just find your new favorite escape.
I can enjoy a good bdsm romance even the dark ones, but this one is just too much. First, The h was abused physically, sexually and emotionally as a child...used to make kiddie porn since before she was six. She was rescued at the age of 13 and grew up in foster care. After several years of psychological therapy she's managed to put her life together, though she still has some triggers. This is where the story starts, when she's in her 20's and she meets the h, who just happens to be a Dom. (Hard to believe that someone with her history would enjoy rough sex and even some pain, but..that's not what was so disturbing about this story.
What was disturbing is that you're not just told about her past (simlilar to how I explained it above) so you know her history ... no it's spoon fed to you in her nightmares. Her nightmares are described in detail as if it is happening in the moment only for her to awaken so you realize it was a nightmare. As such, you live her past like you live the story in the present time. And with each nightmare, each reveal of her past is more horrendous.
And still I kept reading because the story in the present was good. I was interested in seeing her progress in a relationship for the first time in her life, learning to trust someone finally and feeling safe. I loved how patient the H was with her, knowing she was abused, but never pushing her to give details until she's ready; always making sure she's okay with anything they do sexually before he proceeds, ready to stop when she says.
The H's half sister and best friend, who didn't like her, would have provided enough protagonists for this story, but Nooooo ... That wasn't enough for this author...not enough shock factor. No, instead, at 27% into the story, you discover that the H's admin assistant, a male who has supposedly had a crush on the h (who also works there), is a sicko who watched and bought kiddie porn (of her) since he was 12 and became obsessed with her and has broken into her apartment with a gun and one of the old videos when she wax six and talks to her like they did in the video ("naughty little girls get punished", etc., ) and expects her to watch it with him and answer his questions. It was bad enough she/we had to relive it in her nightmares, but this.....? To bring it all back and make her relive it not, just in nightmares, but reality ... It's to much! Hard enough to believe that anyone who suffered the 13 yrs she had could be anything but broken already, but add this....?
It was too much and I just couldn't read any more... don't know if I can ever finish this book. I'm torn between wanting to know (hoping) the H or someone comes in to stop it before anything happens and being relieved; and fearing that it's not stopped and goes to it's inevitable conclusion (the sicko re-enacts the movie) in which case I'll end up even more disturbed and angry than I am right now. The only way to know either is continue reading and either be relieved (it's stopped) or extremely disturbed and angry (it's not stopped). Or I don't read and remain just mildly disturbed.
Maybe eventually, I'll just skip ahead a couple of pages to see, but for now, think I'll just read another good story to get rid of this disturbing awful taste! I'll let you know if I change my mind.
I know that M.S. Parker is an amazing writer but WOW!!
I had an extremely difficult time putting this series down as it was a constant roller coaster with twist and turns at every turn! I have to be honest though...there actually were quite a few times during the last book that I got so frustrated, anxious and felt both my heart breaking and my guts wrenching that I had to put it down and walk away from it for a few minutes.
The power of her words to invoke so much all consuming emotions is awe inspiring! I don't want to spoil anything but this is definitely not for the faint of heart. It will bring you into Jenna's world full of pain and suffering in the worst possible way. But it will also show you the unconditional love from Rylan and so much more!
This book shows you what fighting to survive and the will to live and overcome our past and accept that we all deserve to accomplish great things and be happy!
I usually try and write reviews of the books I've read but they're usually short and to the point but after reading this...THIS deserves a 5++++ Stars and an honest to goodness straight from my heart review!!
Thank you Parker for creating such an eye opening heartwarming story with all the chaotic crazy sick and twisted in between.
Probably one of the best series that I’ve read. I’ve reviewed each book separately on goodreads but to review the series as a whole... two cliche words spring to kind... Emotional Rollercoaster.
In my opinion... the prequel Broken Pleasures, was probably the least enjoyable to read and I freely admit that I didn’t like Jenna all that much. She was too brash, too angst driven and massively annoying. Rylan, though was an absolute sweetheart and utterly dream worthy. He was the reason I kept going really.
I’m so glad that I didn’t stop because the way their relationship blossoms in Forbidden Pleasures is heartwarming and beautiful. The way Rylan sees her, cares for her and cherishes Jenna is thoroughly mesmerising. He soothes away her nightmares. For the first time in her life, she’s feels hope. Even with his family and closest friends disapproval of his new found love, they have something so strong. But is she strong enough to let herself feel that hope and accept it?
When her past comes back to haunt her, it tests their love beyond anything they thought they would encounter. Living through the ordeal, they cling to each other. The harsh realisation of how close they came to losing each other solidifies their need to be together.
Dark Pleasures left me broken.. I cried. It sees this wonderfully enigmatic couple grow together. Jenna feels more safe than she ever has, especially when she is in Rylan’s powerful and loving arms. She knows he will protect her from anything that could be thrown at them. So perfect... but can perfection ever last?
Changing her appearance back to the one that is no longer a mask to hide behind, Jenna wants nothing more than to give everything she has to Rylan... but jealousy and misunderstandings are about to claim the one part of Jenna that she cannot fight against. Herself.
Jenna’s insecurities become insurmountable when his sister drives the one and only wedge between them and the reality she is hit with becomes overwhelming. Her love for Rylan and wanting to see him happy fuels her to make the most heartbreaking decision... to walk away.
Pure Pleasures... how do I feel about the last instalment. It’s painful to read, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s painful because you can feel the absolute turmoil that Jenna is going through. She’s walked away from the only good thing she has ever known. Her heart is so entirely broken, the knowledge of knowing it’s all her own doing is hard to bear.
It’s a long, hard stretch. She’s determined to let Rylan be free to find happiness, even if it means sacrificing her own. With every chapter you’d think it would get easier, but it doesn’t. These two are meant to be together.
As she tries to move forward she sets her sights on exposing pedophiles with her incredible tech abilities. When she realises that the FBI who now employ her are not bringing the justice she feels adequate she takes matters into her own hands. Little does she know that she has just endangered her life.
It takes near death to bring this couple back together and when Rylan takes her back into his arms, everything she has put herself through suddenly fades. Back in her safe place, her relief is palpable and their love stronger than ever. But just when things seem to be getting back track... there’s one more person trying to come between them and this time the consequences could be fatal. Will they, can they, finally find peace and happiness?
The two novellas that are part of this series His Pleasures and More Pleasures are great, but in all honesty, not entirely necessary. They focus on Rylan and while they do give a deeper insight into his personality and bedroom antics, they aren’t essential to the plot line. I also think they come in strange places as much of the story takes place before he meets Jenna. I know they are reflective, but I don’t feel they added to the main plot.
One novella I would have liked was Rylan’s perspective after Jenna leaves that focuses on his anguish. You are left a bit lost as to how Rylan reacts to Jenna running away and I’d have liked something that bridged that gap.
Overall, fantastic. The kind of story that doesn’t leave you even when you put the book down. Well done M.S Parker... an absolute gem of a series.
Ok here's the deal. Book 1 was good. I really liked how you got to know the characters. The author's writing was well done and her storytelling, especially in the nightmares was very different. Book 2 was my favorite of the 3 main ones. Book 3 was awful. I agree with what most of the reviews are saying. There was way too much going on. The Christophe thing was a strong enough conflict that's all there needed to be, in addition to her navigating adult life and trauma. But then you go in on how much the family hated Jenna and that was a storyline. Separate from that was the whole Zeke thing. I feel that this storyline I hated the most because it was so obvious that it didn't belong. It was one thing for the family to dislike her but to make it such a large part of the story drew away from the actual point of the book.
Here are the things that bothered me in book 2 and 3: When Jenna leaves because of what Suzette said to her in the bathroom, I felt that was so against the character of Jenna and who she was built up to be in the last 2 books. I get having doubts and I get that it was scary but something that could have easily been resolved became this huge issue (main point of book 3, which is probably why I didn't like book 3). At the end of book 3: How did Rylan know that Jenna was in the hospital? was this addressed and I just missed it because of my frustration with the book? or was that something that the author didn't write in? And lets not forget that all the conflicts were resolved in one whole day! That was absurd! I was pissed about the ending with Zeke because it wasn't an issue in book 1 and most of 2, but became a huge issue in book 3. I feel as if the author just did a 360 with his character storyline 1/2 way through the book. As a side note of irritation: Jenna over everyone should have known and understood there are other ways to have a family than pregnancy.
SO overall, I wouldn't read this again as I felt it was a just okay book and a lot of things in book 2/3 frustrated me to no end...and what was with the novella of Rylan in between book 2 & 3?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
If I could give this 10 stars, I would. I got this Box Set in Kindle Unlimited, but I am going to purchase it. Kudos to M.S. Parker for writing it. I am going to read more of her books, too.
Broken Pleasures -Prequel This is the Prequel story of Rylan and Jenna. The Prequel was great. It told of the couple that was a match professionally, but otherwise, you would never think they were a match personally. What they go through with her always pushing him away, but for reasons partially revealed, and you get the impression he knows there is something wrong.
Forbidden Pleasures This is the second part of Rylan and Jenna's story Everything is revealed of what happened to Jenna in her childhood. Also, what happen to her in the present. Her story is heartbreaking, but Rylan is always there for her. She must learn to trust him. This is a tear jerker for sure.
His Pleasures This is strictly the story of Rylan and his past; his breakup, his domination and hookups for a weekend. It was a pleasurable story and I enjoyed it.
Dark Pleasures This is the continuing story of Rylan and Jenna. Jenna makes a lot of progress conquering the fears of her past. The love between them is very deep. There is a realization that is told to her, and she feels she can't stay with Rylan any longer. I loved this part of the story.
More Pleasures This is a story about Rylan a few months before he met Jenna. It is a unsettling time for him. He is a Dom, but not an extreme one. It explains a lot of who he is. A very interesting story indeed.
Pure Pleasures This is the continuing story of Jenna mostly. It made tears come to my eyes for 3/4 of this book. That's how good it was written. It reveals a lot more of her past, and it by far is one of the saddest stories I have ever read. Then the story goes into Rylan and Jenna's continuing story again. It was great, with a bit of suspense to it, and then back to great. Happiness for the rest. I loved this box set so much.
My god this was a hard read, but it was so worth it! I read the whole boxset in a day. I am suffering for it now, but this set deserves a review.
I just want to add a disclaimer that wasn't in the freakin' blurb - but was further down in tags and reviews...which I did not see - that his book has heavy and descriptive themes of child abuse and paedophilia. Many times flashback scenes were uncomfortable for me to read but most of them had a reason for presenting in the story. It was tough. Very tough. Written very well. Written scarily well. **hugs M.S. Parker**
Poor broken, abused, and tortured Jenna. I cried multiple times. I'm still in emotional turmoil while my brain is trying to remind my heart that it's just a story...
Rylan is beautiful. So sweet, so understanding... at one stage I had tears in my eyes because he made my heart full with how he was with Jenna. Read the damn bookset. You'll know what I mean. I don't even want to mention the hot AF sex between Rylan and Jenna in it, which basically incinerated my damn panties because there is so much more to the story than the sex... but really, incinerated panties. Call the firemen.
I did feel it became a little rushed towards the end with how the confrontation with Zeke went down, and how Suzette was, but loose ends were tied and there is a HEA which I had been screaming for during the whole damn book. I am so bloody relieved because I was worried there wasn't going to be a HEA! <3
The first book in the box set sent me on a reluctant journey to see how the heroine's life works out. The hero, an affable, nice guy, we're to believe is a dominant because he owns a playroom and has a different voice in, is the weakest hero I've ever read about. He sat through a meal where his family rallied insults at his "love," left her on Christmas day to go to his family, returned to her in a robe, but when his best friend showed up, he was okay entertaining his friend with her in said robe! He went so far as to stay up so late with said friend, that Christmas was a wash. The incredulous ending where he forgave his best-friend who tried to kill him and her wasn't a surprise to me. At no point was she passiona distinct priority in the story. And all the in-between, of failure to protect, to continuing a friendship with said friend who told him he'd slept with the heroine this book was choppy, gratuitously constant and detailed in the flashback scenes of sexual violence against a child. And obviously stretched out to make as many books in the box set as possible. My first and last time reading this author's writing. Sex crimes against children is too gut wrenching to be handled in this manner.
Wow this box set isn’t at all what I expected, yes it’s the rich boss meets not so rich girl and has BDSM and lots of sex as a big part of this box set. However there is actually a story behind it all not just their story from when they meet but who they were before they met. The trauma, tragedy and heartache Jenna has suffered is just appalling and heartbreaking to read as a storyline but even though I’m no expert on this it reads well and the abuse suffered seems to have been something the author hasn’t just added for the sake of it. The ongoing trauma comes across as genuine and seems the author investigated beforehand, lots of flashback traumatic dreams for Jenna and comes across as believable not just added to shock. I have read a few of the authors books now and this one will stick with me as my heart was breaking for Jenna and what she suffered as a child, well written storyline that shows how evil a world we actually live in at times.
The world would be a lovely place if it was filled with Rylan Archers.--every woman should have one. Having said that, I didn't care for this series. It felt like a solid 1/4 of the books was sex and not always between the H and h. Even though I enjoyed the writer's sex scenes in general, it felt so much like filler or like the author said, "Hey, it's time for another sex scene, what will make it different from the others?" And the flashbacks to sex with others? They added nothing to the story. I started skimming the sex about halfway through and it made that last half fly. This was one very long pity party/f***fest. The reunion was too bald, too quick for all the misery that preceded it. I will not be reading more of this author. Toward the end I was partly skimming any non-dialogue. I had to double back a couple times but it was worth it to get out of that story. I really loved Archer, though.
I give this book 10 stars. Why? It’s perfect if you love a good, dark romance. This was deeply dark. The sad part is that the child pornography is REAL. I love how the author brought attention to it and did not just close over it or insinuate it. I love how the Heroine was strong, independent but also she had her own triggers. I love that she found a Hero who took the time out to learn her inside and out, taught her how to push her boundaries and overcome her fears and to see herself as he saw her. It’s hard to find the perfect dark romance, I’m my opinion this was it. Be warned if child abuse or child pornography bothers you do not read this book or just skip over her flash backs and nightmares. They are easy to see because they are in italic font. This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last!
The story of Jenna in itself is a good read. The story of what she went through and then to become what she was was amazing! Then you add the story of her and Rylan and you get a real life love story with a bit of baggage. I loved all the sex scenes. Some felt repetitive, but sex sometimes gets that way in a relationship. Dylan coming from the beam world and knowing how to read his partner really helps Jenna break out of her fears. It was a perfect idea to be able to write about overcoming her fears. The back stories from the viewpoint of Dylan were great little fillers too. It gave a lot of insight I to him and why he ends up falling g in love with Jenna so easily and why it feels so genuine. Ideally enjoyed the read. Looking forward to reading more of the authors work.
A breath gasping, heart racing, wrenching read from beginning to end. Once I turned the first page, I knew I had to finish Rylan and Jenna's story. The HEA is hard won, but there from the moment these two meet. How they get there is the hardest, and sweetest, part of the journey.
M.S. Parker has a way with words and is a master at her craft. She definitely doesn't shy or stray from the hard or brutal, and yet she gives you hope that the best is yet to come, and some joy a long the journey. And she knows how to write a survivor! Not a victim; A survivor!
This series has many triggers and definitely isn't for everyone. But if you can handle the dark and anxiety, you can get through to the end and smile. And shed a few happy tears.
Learning to live after a childhood of abuse is quite a challenge. Seeing how people react and respond can be even more so. Jenna was rescued from 13 years of abuse from her mother. She has made a new life for herself. All she wants is for her past to disappear so she can move forward. Out of the blue she meets someone who intrigues her beyond her imagination.
Ryland has sworn off relationships after walking in on his fiancé having sex with a neighbor. He is wealthy and good looking and could have any woman he wants but he is just too busy running his business (or so he tells himself). In desperation he calls on a computer tech to help solve a security issue and his world is upended to the max.
The Pleasure Series is an intense box set that will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Take your time and enjoy the experience.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time wanting to know what was coming next! M.S. Parker does an amazing job of putting you in Jenna's shoes and helping you to understand how the character is feeling throughout the story. It was incredibly captivating and left me spellbound! I am so excited to see how this story progresses with the next novel! Jenna Lang is a free lance computer tech but with her blue hair and tattoos you would never be able to tell. She is called to do a job at Archer Enterprises and finds that she is incredibly attracted to Rylan Archer but she shuts down and doesn't let herself become involved.
Jenna goes away to a computer conference and who does she see none other than the one and only Rylan Archer. Will she give in to temptation or will she walk away?
FORBIDDEN PLEASURES
M.S. Parker has outdone herself once again with Forbidden Pleasures! Forbidden Pleasures is the story of Rylan Archer and Jenna Lang, despite the clear chemistry the two have Jenna try's to let her difficult past cloud her judgment when it comes to Rylan. The story is full of suspense with intriguing twists and turns it will have you on the edge of your seat wanting more and falling in love with the characters at the same time.
This outstanding novel is well written with an impeccable story line that weaves a tale of hurt, anger, heartbreak, love and healing with dynamic characters that will have you asking for more when the novel ends!
HIS PLEASURES
I absolutely loved this novella its a prequel to the new M.S. Parker novel Dark Pleasures.
This prequel is about Rylan Archer who we saw in M.S. Parkers previous series Forbidden Pleasures. The prequel gives us the backstory on Rylan before he met Jenna. Rylan was in a relationship with Lara Roache for two years and was about to propose when he goes home and finds her in bed with the neighbor Cassandra. Rylan then goes on a weekend at his family cabin with his sister and her friends trying to take his mind off of his now previous relationship. During the weekend he finds himself sleeping his way through his sisters friends at his sisters encouragement and determines that he is never going to be in a relationship again it will all be about causal encounters with no strings attached because he has no desire to go through what he did with Lara again.
This novella gives great insight into Rylan Archer and sets the stage for the novel Dark Pleasures its a great read and keeps you engaged the entire time. M.S. Parker does an amazing job creating the relationship between the reader and the characters you really feel like you are going through the motions every step right along with Rylan.
Don't miss this novella it was a great read!
DARK PLEASURES
I absolutely loved this book!
M.S. Parker has this amazing gift for creating chemistry between characters that makes you feel like you are going through the same emotions they are it's incredibly captivating!
This novel picks up where the previous stories leave off with Rylan Archer and Jenna Lang. The relationship is progressing rather quickly between them but the chemistry is amazing this is definitely one steamy story. There are lots of twists and turns for them including a psycho she has to testify against and dealing with his crazy best friend threatening her as well as his crazy family. Despite all of that the two have an amazing connection to each other but at the end Jenna is faced with a challenge and she must make a decision on whether to stay with Rylan or leave because it's what she feels is best for him. This book ends on a cliffhanger and it leaves you on the edge of your seat impatiently waiting for the next novel in the series!
If this book is any indicator it's going to be worth the wait and I have a feeling that M.S. Parker is going to take us on a wild and amazing ride.
PURE PLEASURES
I am a huge fan of M.S. Parker and I honestly believe that with each new book she releases they just tend to get better and better.
Pure Pleasures picks up exactly where the last book leaves off with Jenna leaving Rylan which broke all of our hearts. This book has some pretty drastic twists and turns that I was not expecting but have come to expect from M.S. Parker she is one of those amazing authors that knows exactly how to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Jenna definitely tries her hardest to keep pushing Rylan away and well honestly I really don't want to spoil this for you but there is no way for me to tell you about it without doing exactly that, this book is full of action, drama and plenty suspense and some incredibly steamy romance scenes. I will say this though there are some majorly intense issues that Jenna faces and has to tackle in this book and M.S. Parker does such an amazing job of sending across the positive message of hope and love and it was so great to see. The connection between Rylan and Jenna was incredibly strong despite everything, and the ending of the series was absolutely amazing, it fit Rylan and Jenna perfectly!
MORE PLEASURES
I really love the insight that the novella gives into Rylan and how he has come to be the man he is in the present day novels.
M.S. Parker does an amazing job painting a picture and showing you the different phases of Rylan's life and what has led him to his current situation. You learn a lot about the emotional side of Rylan and you get to see a glimpse of how important Jenna is to him and why. This was a great novella that gives you a great opportunity to learn more about the characters.
M.S. Parker is such a talented author and she really does a great job building the characters and their connections with each other and the reader.
Make sure to read the prequel of this series. My heart was broken the first in Forbidden. Book two - His, you will get a snipit of Rylan's life . By book three - Dark, my heart and mind was in tears. Yelling at my Kindle for Jenna being treated unkind by those people in Rylan's life so bad she makes a rash decision. Book four, another sense of things happening things start to make sense and come together. Why do they torment each other?? The last book - Pure, my heart twists again but not in a good way. Why torture yourself I think? It got really bad in this book....snuck a peek a-head! I could not take it anymore! When things start to improve. Enjoyed the ending! Enjoyed the ending. Great job, M. S. Parker!!!
okay so basically it’s not bad... and not to sound mean or be harsh but it wouldn’t be my first choice in series to be honest because even though the sex scenes are hot and everything...that’s basically all it is. sex sex more sex let’s try this and then some more sex through in a shitty past and some weird shit in the present it’s a generic romance bdsm novel. it’s like reading the 50 shades of grey novels all over again. traumatic past. new man. everything’s peachy. guy is rich. girl is poor. they fuck. they move in. she runs away. she gets kidnapped. he rescues her. they go out again. he proposes. she says yes. they fuck some more and then bam kids happen the end
A very good book, I had some trouble at times making myself continue but it was worth the effort to finish. The parts that were hard to go through were ones where the heroine, Jenna, through her issues. In a book the interactions between the hero and heroine are vital to keep me intrigued, there were some lulls in that which made me loose focus but that is a reading thing for me. I really liked it and it provided a different kind of struggling heroine. She had inner demons as well as real life demons. Rylan was the ultimate hero that everyone would love.
I would definitely rate this pretty high on the steamy scale.
I have to wonder about the nature of someone who can write in vivid detail, the main character describing her molestation, rape, and abuse as a baby and child, then write in a raunchy sex scene between her and the person she's telling all this to. The H starred in child porn movies from the age of six, that her mother drugged her for. But even before that, from around one year old, her mother was letting her boyfriend to unmentioned things to her. This book is disgusting. If you get off on this, you probably need to see a shrink. This is NOT a good read.
I so wanted to like this book, I had high hopes for it because of the positive reviews. Unfortunately the dynamics between the main characters, I've already forgotten their names (that tells you enough), just didn't feel believable and didn't ring true. This one was a no for me....mostly because of the lead female's internal dialogue, she's suppose to be so smart, blinking eck love, maybe start thinking smart. I understand she's had a tough childhood but come on, her actions seems unusual to see the least!! What a shame, I was really hoping for a cracker!
It's a heavy and dark story. With child molestation and pornography it's not an easy book to read. But it's beautiful story of main character finding love, acceptance and passion (oh the passion and hot sex) while dealing with darkness she's struggling with... The sick feeling it brings thinking of the child molestation yet its presented in a way you can put the book away. The mixed feelings of being hot and bothered and angry and mad next minute. Ufff what a read!
One great box set! I enjoyed the story of each one and each character. Great idea to have have them alternate a book too. How the first is a prequel, the second has parts for both the h and the H, the third book is from H and so on. I loved that! There was a big part where she made a choice that messed with both of them. I admit that I wanted to throw my phone while reading it and I had to take a break before being able to get through it. Sometimes, even being that fly on the wall could be too much. I feel so close to them.
To be honest if i'd known more before hand i probably wouldn't have chosen this set but i'm so glad i did. It's my 1st by this author but won't be the last. Ryland was a bit too good to be true at times but then Jenna so bloody deserved him after all the horrors she had survived. Her past was hard to read about but what a survivor! I hope the real FBI are better at sending such evil to prison than was portrayed in the story. This story definately has you going thru the whole gamut of emotions, Give it a go you won't be disappointed.
The subject matter in this series was heart wrenching to say the least. The way it was handled by the writer was exceptional. From the first page I was hooked up to the last period. The story takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster ride. From the horrors suffered by Jenna, the family drama of Rylan's, dealing with the legal system all show intelligence and insight.
I enjoyed this book. It was a great way to escape for a while, even though the multi-millionaire/billionaire/insanely rich male falling for and "rescuing" a female trope is getting a little old.
Jenna and Rylan are characters I could sink my teeth into, even though I think Rylan's character development/backstory could have been a little deeper. Great twists and turns, interesting and informative BDSM scenes.
I'd strongly recommend if you read Fifty Shades and enjoy better writing.
Rarely do you get so much depth of personality in a book. The format allows readers to get to know Jenna in so much detail that you feel like you physically know this complex person. It is raw, painful and at times joyous. Steamy descriptive sex scenes sometimes with repetitive language from scene to scene is one of the few flaws. It could be edited down but the format lets readers skim through parts they choose not to read.
I really loved this story. The HEA ending was sweet and must deserved for the heroine. Had to remove a star for the sacchrine levels of cliche but mostly the redemption of 2 people that happened way to quickly and easily for my taste. In the grand scheme they werent exactly the big bad but the damage done warranted a bit more accountability.
Overall i did enjoy these books and the story as a whole. I mean the heat level alone 🥵🥵 🔥 🔥
The character development is so real, you feel as though you actually know these people. My only "thing" with this is Rylan not taking action when Jenna meets his family for the first time. His character throughout the series is about standing up for Jenna. His letting his family go off on her without his defending her is totally out of character for him. Great time well spent!
I saw all the high ratings but simply couldn't get into this one... abandoned it halfway through, once the H started his backstory. A very dark and disturbing beginning to the series with Jenna revealing heinous childhood traumas... Scary stuff! The writing was well-done, but for me the inner dialogue dragged, the H seemed weak, and the many sex scenes seemed clinical and repetitive. I wanted to like it more than I did, but different strokes...
Is it possible for me to give it more than 5 stars? 5⭐️/5 5🌶/5 I was completely enthralled by this book and could scarcely put it down, and when I did, it was reluctantly. To be honest, all I wanted to do was reach inside the book and embrace Jenna.
It will break your heart to witness Jenna's emotional breakdown. She's never been in love before. In her opinion, loving Rylan was both therapeutic and safe.
I really like how it finishes. Like the rest of the series, it was a page-turner.
***READ TRIGGER WARNING BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT THE BOOK SERIES***
Yes I know some scenes are intense and graphic to read but things like this happen in society and we must bring attention to it!
It may not be for everyone but I’ve learned a lot of things in this series and my favorite part was seeing Jenna’s recovery (mentally) from these events. Character development was soo good! Rylan was so supportive! I love him!
@MS PARKER With your series, you never fail to entertain me. They are the finest of all time. In this narrative, I enjoyed the drama and the need to be wanted. And that happens on a daily basis. Thank you for a fantastic read.
