The Changeling #2

Dark Beloved

Rate this book
Aoife has returned.

Back with her family after her adventures in the Land of the Young – where she rescued her younger sister Eva, narrowly escaping the evil fairy Dorocha – she is adjusting to life in the human world. But this is hard when you are trying to contain an otherworldly power . . . and even harder when you've been thought dead, mourned by those you love.

Aoife’s world collapses completely when Shay, her fellow traveller and love of her life, abandons her. He is a lenanshee – and it is dangerous to love, and be loved, by such a fairy.

But Shay is trapped in his own web of desire, as dark forces move against the pair. When he is taken in by a beautiful demon, this can only mean a return to the Fairy World. Aoife – with her best friend Carla – must battle old and new enemies, meet old and new friends, and use all her Fairy Powers to save Shay – her true Beloved.

And when days in the Fairy World are months in the human world, time runs out very fast indeed . . .

"The Story of a Strange Marriage" is not my work, I don't know why it's there and I cannot delete it. (I've tried!)

I can't stop reading this book, it's a really great book with all the adventures. I do not know is there a third book, if there is, I would read it. I could not find is third book, is there is please tell me. I think the ending of this book is quiet strange, but still, I rate it 5 stars instead of 4 stars, because I love all the parts of this books(not the ending). I rate it 5 stars because I could not stop reading it. I really want to know is there another book. Please tell me if there is.

This didn't engage me as much as the first book in the series did. Although the author does explore more elements of folklore and fable which I'm all for I felt like the romance plot was somehow a bit forced. Maybe I'm getting a bit jaded in my years but I felt like the teen romance was almost too 'teen' if that makes sense? I don't mind a bit of pining but when 80% of the book is pining you want to shout 'come on Aoife there are bigger things at stake!

That said I'm still obsessed with the atmosphere these books create, their way of weaving the modern world and a world of fantasy is, I feel, well done and I'll certainly read more of this story when the opportunity comes.

Omg I did not see that coming, the book starts leaving you heartbroken and empathic with Aoife, trying to fit back into the normal slow pace of life, until BOOM, twists, turns and surprises and a new adventure awaits!

When you end up skipping whole chapters to get the book over with, you know it's not going great. As much as I enjoyed the first book, it wasn't as much fun the second time round - and the sequel certainly disappointed. Maybe I need to be an angsty teenager again to appreciate it.

A brilliant sequal to 'The Changeling'. More rich folklore and fairy legend. Beautiful imagery. I loved it.

The book was as much about friendship as it was as romance.

I don't really know what made me think I would like this book, I'm a bit too advanced for this book. But definitely a great story for young readers and ages 12-16

*2.5 stars* A little too similar to the first one, while exchanging Changeling's lightness of tone for a heavily dark feel
