A good introduction for Christians to Islam as practiced on the Arabian Peninsula. At a couple of points the language of the book is confusing, but for the most part the book does a good job - particularly when it comes to the mistakes Christians often make in assuming the two religions are the same. Schwartz points out the deep-running differences in the ways the religions understand themselves and the way practitioners think about themselves and the world around them. The book is even-handed if somewhat academic in tone.
