This is the second book in the Avis Blackthorn Series -- I worked extreamly hard getting this written and out into the world before the end of the year as I was getting lots of emails from fans asking when it would be released.
So I am very pleased to announce that it is now out... I hope you enjoy reading it.
Part 1 reminded me a lot of Harry Potter, but I liked it a lot. My hopes for part 2 were: that it would get more of a character of its own. And it did!
I really loved this book! You get to know the characters and world of Avis Blackthorn even more! You learn more about his brothers, his friends and other schoolmates and the teachers and the subjects he has in school. And he has some more wonderful and not so wonderful adventures. I can't wait to read about his adventures in his 3rd school year!
I got a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I'm really getting hooked on this Avis Blackthorn series. It might seem to start out similar to another ya series by J.K. Rowling, but I assure you...it has a character all of it's own. I really enjoy all of the characters in this book, and enjoy getting a first hand peek into the adventures and mysteries discovered at Hailing Hall School for Wizards during Avis's (and his classmates') second year at the school.
The story would have five stars if I could get past all the misspellings and the occasional punctuation error.
Avis Blackthorn is still a good kid from an evil family. He's still got problems and the multicolored jumper (sweater) just adds to the problems. He's somewhat figured out Riptide. His friends aren't really talking to them except for one of them and life is getting more interesting. Now I'm off to read books 3.
Avis Blackthorn survives another year at Hailing Hall.
Apart from the typos and silly mistakes, -getting the main character's date of birth wrong, in one chapter he said he was born in March, in another it said April- it is still a good story with enough differences for people to not confuse him with Harry Potter. These stories may never be as popular as J K Rowling's boy wizard, but that does not mean that Avis Blackthorn does not have a place in our hearts and on our book shelves.
This is a cute story of a young boy who's family is evil. He is not and tries (probably too hard) to let people know he is not evil. Along the way he has issues; such as girl trouble, and an evil wizard to make things difficult for him. Can he make it through school, or will he be expelled? The only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating is the grammar. Not just the difference of English from England and American; but some of the sentences didn't make sense. Some I had to read two or three times. That is very distracting from the story. Overall it was a pretty good book.
Davis is back for his second year in school. I enjoyed reading what happens this year. A couple of characters from the last book disappointed me. We also get to learn more about his brothers. That is always a treat. I can't wait till the third book. I will definitely be reading it.
Kindle Unlimited, think it might be permafree. Avis Blackthorn and the Ring of Enchantment (An Avis Blackthorn Magical Adventure, Prequel Book 0), Avis Blackthorn: Is Not an Evil Wizard! (The Wizard Magic School Series, Book 1), Avis Blackthorn and the Magical Multicolour Jumper (The Wizard Magic School Series, Book 2) Avis Blackthorn: The Map of Infinity (The Wizard Magic School Series, Book 3)
Avis has to deal with "accidents" and bullying in this book. Really enjoyable and flow really well (although wish that a few words hadn't been misspelled throughout like 'faint'). Terrific reading for all the family and there's something for everyone in here. Highly recommended. Had to buy this to see what happens after getting book 1 off Instafreebie
Did anyone else think after reading: “I follow fat Gertrude, her wobbly bottom barely fitting inside a huge blue dress." WHY he's checking out his sister's butt? Then immediately following that paragraph, the verb tense changed?
Seriously: Proofread. Edit. Enlist the aid of beta readers.
This book is amazing, but then, so was the first one. AND it's nice and long. NOT a bit drawn out. It kept my interest throughout. I love the magical scenery, the lively characters (good and bad) and how things all time in together. Great job!
Love this series. I feel a lot of empathy with Avis as he tries his best. He hates being from an evil family, which leads him to do silly things. Avis is a very likeable character and I can't wait to find out what happens next.
This is the 2nd book and just as great as the 1st . I read with with a friends son age nine he enjoy hearing the mysterious things that are happening this school year
