The final part of RISE, a three-part series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Deborah Bladon
Tess Marlow had created a new and fulfilling life for herself in Manhattan. After walking away from a long term relationship she was determined to launch a successful event planning business. When she met Landon Beckett, an airline pilot, she thought her life was perfect.
Everything changes when Tess discovers that her father isn't the man she believes he is. His past associations call everything into question.
It's impossible for Tess to know who to turn to. The only two men she's ever trusted are both connected to the one person who has changed all of their lives forever.
As Tess sets out on a journey of discovery, she's forced to face her deepest fears. Can she ever truly find happiness with a man whose own past haunts her own?
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
Tess Marlow thought she had it all. For a moment, her life was perfect. Her event planning business was taking off. Her family had her back, and Landon Beckett was making her truly happy. But that ended the day her father was arrested. How could she be so wrong about her dad? The man who had always been her anchor, her solace, her go to person wasn’t who she thought he was. The crimes he was accused of couldn’t be real, could they? And if she didn’t know him, could she trust herself to know Landon? Landon did the right thing by turning his father in. His father was dead to him. Had been since that fateful day at the lake. And for the first time ever, he felt happy. Happy because of Tess. But when boundaries are crossed and lies come between them, Landon isn't sure they can get past it. Even if she is the only woman he ever saw forever with. The final installment of Rise has its moments, with a few final unexpected turns that will turn heads and keep readers salivating for the upcoming series about Gabriel and Asher Foster…
I wanted to love this series, I really did but it just didn't do it for me. I decided to give this last book the benefit of the doubt because I normally love all of Deborah Bladon's books. I didn't love the second installment and I thought maybe it was a fluke and the last book would be better. I was completely wrong. I've been trying to read this novella for the last week and I lost interest right after I found out about Tess' father. I even skimmed the last half of it just to get through the rest. I felt that it was too many characters linked in one story together. It became a little confusing to remember everything and I felt some links in the story should've been left out because it really over complicated the book. This series wasn't a good one for Deborah.
Ms Bladon has once again surpassed all my expectations with Rise! She has talent for writing cliffhangers. Now sometimes those are a pain in the butt, but not hers. She lets you know how many books there are in the series and she gives you a fairly accurate schedule. Her characters are wonderfully simple but in a good way and she allows the circumstances to make them extraordinary! Rise is no different. Boy meets girl, boy has a secret, girl finds out in a surprise reveal, will they overcome the secrets? Pretty sure, I've read ALL of Ms Bladons books. This one is no different! 20 out of 5 ⭐️s.
I gave 5 stars only because I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole series of books by Deborah Bladon's. All of them until after Dane. This one with Landon had too many twists and turns that were decades old. I would compare it to a Sherlock Holmes novel. You don't know the ending until he tells you all of the things that happened but forgot to tell the reader about.
With that stop me from reading more of this saga? Heck no! I love her books. Impatiently waiting on the next series... .
Just finished all the Rise books in the space of two days. They were three short but very sweet and steamy reads. If you like the idea of a good romance with a hot pilot that is very persistent to get the girl he likes. Add in a great story with twists and turns then this is the book for you. Landon and Tess are two strong likable characters that you can't help rooting for as a couple. I will definitely be checking out this authors other books. Overall I would give this series a 4 out of 5 *
Ms. Bladon has successfully given the reader another fun story that incorporates all of her wonderful characters that has graced several of Ms. Bladon's prior books. The complexity of each and every characters keeps you coming back for more. "Rise" gives the reader Tess and Landon's journey. Together they must face heartbreak, betrayal and doubt in who they are, not only as individuals but as a couple. This series is a definite must read.
The series overall was a bit boring. It seemed like there was so much unnecessary fluff. I wanted more focus on Landon and Tess. Their relationship was overshadowed by their fathers and Gabriel's nosey mother's situation. These folks have the slutiest parents ever. Instead of publishing all of these novella series, perhaps focus on writing a worthwhile series that's both creative and provocative.
Wasn't crazy about this series. It just didn't grab me like the others. I dare say it almost seemed rushed. Like she needed to get Landon and Tess' story over with so she could move on to someone new. I don't feel it had much depth. Anyway, I gave it 3 stars because it was worth the read, but definitely left me a little disappointed.
This story has been an emotional rollercoaster. So many secrets and unexpected twist. Despite the heartache Landon and Tess's connection is undeniable and the revelations make their relationship stronger. And Asher Omg I know we're going to get a story there. Can't wait for HAZE next!!!
Sexy male characters like Landon are the reasons I can't get enough of Deborah Bladon. The conclusion to this series was full of surprises and of course steamy sex scenes which Deborah writes so well! Perfect ending!
So worth the wait, Landon and Tess, met on a flight, he was a pilot, and she was in awe❤️! Where the story, began, the attraction, was so much, the pull, couldn't stay apart, issues between families, past, can their love survive, great story, Deborah, love your books!
Each series is just as captivating as before. And I personally love how intermingled the characters are to one another. It's really cool to read. The character interactions and the plot twists just keep you guessing and wanting more.
Awesome awesome awesome that is how I feel about Deborah's work thank you love you're writing and skills and I can't wait for the other characters to read about them just can't wait. Thanks again - you're huge fan - Hengy
This series definitely had me hooked from the beginning. Deborah never disappoints her audience with her books. Can't wait to read Gabriel and Asher's stories.
Hot. Tess and Landon have excellent chemistry. Unfortunately, family secrets are going to test their relationship. Can Landon protect Tess from being disappointed? Will Tess still love Landon once she learns the truth? Will Landon trust Tess to be supportive in his decisions?
Though Landon and Tess story had a few surprises that I like I can't say it was my favorite. I don't regret reading though. It's still a good read. I am looking forward to Haze.
This was a pretty great book! I enjoyed it really well. The characters were some amazing people. I liked when Tess spoke with Landon's. The way she wouldn't let him intimidated her. I wish I could or read about there wedding. I recommend this book
Good quick read. Nothing more. Chapter and scene transition bothered me. Scene cuts short of getting good and the author uses repetitive writhing techniques to start each chapters.
