The three dogs dozed in the cool shade of the river bank under the brilliant blue skies of an August afternoon in south-west France. Just months earlier, one had been trapped in the hell of a puppy farm nursing her final litter of puppies. Happily for Twinkle, she escaped the misery and cruelty of that life to join her two sisters and live the life she could have always had if only fate had been kinder.
One sister, Susie-Belle, knew only too well what she had suffered, having endured much the same for years. Both had once been nothing more than breeding machines in puppy farms, experiencing shocking abuse and neglect.
This book explores the dark, dirty world of commercial dog breeding. It is an industry that is based on greed and cruelty. It is also the moving story of how two dogs survived human wickedness and learnt how to become normal dogs, helped by their canine sister, Renae and now enjoy lives rich in love, kindness and good experiences.
I wish that I had read this before I had removed my gorgeous Tibetan Terrier. It would have helped me tremendously. I relied on my instincts and the knowledge I had from being a dog owner of many years. The different brain development really interested me and makes sense as stimulation is very important for development. One important Charity not mentioned is The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. (SSPCA). It is separate from the RSPCA but does similar work to its counterpart in England with no government support relying on public donations. It's Headquarters are independent Dunfermline. I enjoyed this book as well as Saving Suzie Belle.
This is Twinkle's story. Her background the same as Susie-Belle's but her issues much different.
This book delves more into the horrible side of commercial breeding, or to you and me, puppy mills. Janetta's writing is wonderful and educational without being overbearing. She shows the horrible side of this disgusting industry without being graphic or off-putting, her passion for ending this trade is never ending.
If you've read Saving Susie-Belle you need to read this. If you haven't read Saving Susie-Belle you need to read this.
