About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

💫சுஜாதா என்னும் தன் புனைப்பெயரால் அறியப்படும் ரங்கராஜன் , எழுத்துலகிற்கு அளித்த படைப்புகள் ஏராளம் . நாவல்கள், சிறுகதைகள், ஆனந்த விகடன் , குமுதம் மற்றும் கல்கியில் வந்த தொடர்கதைகள். தமிழக அரசு , கலைமாமணி விருது வழங்கி கெளரவித்தது. 2008 –ல் உடல் நலக்குறைவால் மறைந்தார்.

💫50 ஆண்டுக்கால எழுத்து பயணத்தில் வெளிவந்த கதைகள் ஏராளம். 1962 முதல் 1995 ஆண்டுகளில் வந்த கதைகளின் தொகுப்பு, 29 மர்ம கதைகளைக் கொண்ட தொகுப்பு.

💫எனக்கு பல சிறுகதைகள் பிடித்திருந்தன , அதில் சில :

💫அதிர்ச்சி ! அதிர்ச்சி !! (1962) - ஒரே நாள் ---- பணத்தை திருப்பி வைத்துவிடலாம் என நினைத்தார் ராகவன், ஆனால் அப்படி நடக்கவில்லை…… கடைசியில் ஒரு ஓவியம் அவரை காப்பாற்றுகிறது… ராகவன் என்ன செய்தார்?????

💫காலை எழுந்தவுடன் கொலை (1990) – காலையில் வாக்கிங் செல்லும் ஒருவர் , நடைபாதையில் ஒரு பிணத்தைப் பார்த்தால் என்னவாகும், அதுவும் ஒரு நல்ல குடிமகனாக அதை காவல் துறையினரிடம் சொன்னால் என்னவாகும் ????????

💫கார்ப்பெட்டில் ரத்தம் …… முகத்தில் புன்னகை ! (1995 ) - ரவிசங்கர் - ஸ்வதா என்னும் தம்பதி வசதியான பங்களாவில் வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றனர். சில நாட்களாக கருத்து வேறுபாடு காரணமாக ஒரே வீட்டில் தனித்து வாழ்கின்றனர் …………… ஒரு நாள் ரவிசேகர் இறந்து கிடக்கிறார்… அதன் பின் என்ன நடந்தது .


புத்தகங்களை படிப்போம் , பயன் பெறுவோம்,
புத்தகங்களால் இணைவோம் ,
பல வேடிக்கை மனிதரைப் போலே ,
நான் வீழ்வேனென்று நினைத்தாயோ – மகாகவி

இப்படி தான் எழுதவேண்டும் அப்படி தான் எழுதவேண்டும் என கதைகளுக்கு வடிவம் தேடும் பல இளம் எழுத்தாளர்களுக்கு இந்த புத்தகம் ஒரு ரெபெரென்ஸ் என்றே கூறலாம்.. "Keep it simple and interesting" இந்த "Tag line" மனதில் வைத்து கொண்டு எழுப்பட்டிருக்கும் இந்த கதைகளில் இவரின் படைப்பாற்றலை தாராளமாக உணரலாம். சிறுகதை தொகுப்பென்றாலே ஒரு சில கதைகள் சலிப்பாக இருப்பது சகஜம். இருப்பினும் இந்த புத்தகம் என்னை பொறுத்தவரை ஒரு சிறந்த படைப்பே !

This book is a collection of short stories written by Sujatha over a 30-year period – from 1962 until 1995. The defining aspect of this collection is that each story falls under the mystery genre, particularly with a twist in the tale ending. Despite the fact this book was published more than 15 years ago (back in 2005) and the stories are 25 – 60 years old, each and every one of the 29 stories in சுஜாதாவின் மர்மக் கதைகள் (Marmak Kathaigal) are fresh, and a joy to read. Staying relevant like this is one of the highest achievements any writer can strive for.

The top three stories from perspective were

My first book written by sujatha sir. I see this book as an example of how is writting got improved over the years .
Initially stories were not up to mark but as you read through it final 10 stories are really and engaging

”சமூகத்திலும் மனித மனத்திலும் அதன் இருள் வெளிகளில் நிகழும் குற்றங்களையும் பிறழ்வுகளையும்” சித்தரிக்கும் 29 கதைகளின் தொகுப்பு.

பெரிதாக தரம் வேறுபடாத கதைகளில் இவை தனித்தன்மை கொண்டு நினைவில் நிற்பவை :

1. இது மட்டும்
2. ஒரு திறந்த கடிதம்
3. அஸ்திவாரம்
4. சிறுகதை எழுதுவது எப்படி
5. வானில் ஒரு ..
6. அட்டாக்

1962 முதல் 1995 வரையான காலகட்டங்களில் எழுதப் பட்டிருந்தாலும் காலமாற்றத்தால் வித்தியாசம் ஏதும் தெரியவில்லை. கொலை, திருட்டு, கடத்தல் போன்ற குற்றங்கள் பற்றியே கதைகள் இருப்பதால் ஒரே மூச்சில் படிப்பது monotony ஏற்படுத்தும். மேற்சொன்ன சிலவற்றைத் தவிர்த்துப் பார்த்தால் கதைகள் எதுவும் விசேஷம் இல்லாமல், சராசரியாகவே உள்ளன. சுஜாதாவின் தீவிர வாசகராகவோ, த்ரில்லர் அதிகம் படிப்பவராகவோ இருந்தால் முடிவுகளையும் திருப்பங்களையும் யூகிப்பது எளிது.

சுஜாதாவே சில பேட்டிகளில் குறிப்பிட்டது போல "வாராவாரம் தொடரும் என்று போட்டு எழுதப்படும் நாவலுக்கு இருக்கும் சில நிர்பந்தங்கள் ஒரே இதழில் ஆரம்பித்து அதே இதழில் முடிந்துவிடும் சிறுகதைகளுக்குக் கிடையாது என்பதால் என்னுடைய பல சிறுகதைகள் என்ன எழுத வேண்டும் என்று என் மனதில் இருக்கும் பிம்பத்தை முழுமையாக பிரதிபலிப்பவையாக இருக்கும்".


மிகவும் ரசித்துப் படிக்கக்கூடிய தொகுப்பு.
