Releasing Her Dragon

Rate this book
Trapped in her own body, she-dragon, Stella Montrose has no choice but to find her mate. Whether he likes it or not, he either has to claim her, or set her free, otherwise she'll lose the ability to shift. Sounds simple, only, every time she gets near him, he disappears.

When Brycen Conners signs on to protect an annoying human woman, he never imagined he'd cross paths with his mate. Once the job is done, he'll do whatever it takes to win her heart. Until then, he has to stay away.

2 "Underwhelming" stars

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, intense and very sexy paranormal romance book, I would say this is a good choice. However, if you’re looking for a well-developed and fascinating paranormal world with details and history, this is most definitely not the book for you.

Also, everything happened very fast and some parts definitely felt quite rushed, so if you don’t enjoy it when the characters get frisky under the bed sheets before the 15% mark (which is something I personally don’t enjoy), then don’t read this.

As for the sexy times, those were great. If you’re in need of some sexy alpha-male-takes-over sex scenes, this book should satisfy your need. Was it the best sex I’ve ever read? No, of course not. But did it do the job? Yes, I would say it did.

Again, as I said before, there wasn’t much development and the story literally started right in the middle of the action (Also, may I add that the explanations to what was actually going on in that scene were never really discussed later on in the story), so of course, it’s quite obvious there was next to no character development. Apart from the characters’ names, I don’t think I know anything about either of them. Actually, I don’t even think I know what the guy looks like. It was that under-developed.

I’ve always struggled with shorter books, because they always make me feel like they’re missing something. When I saw this book on Netgalley and researched some reviews on Goodreads, even though I didn’t like shorter books, I decided to give it a go because there were literally only 5-stars reviews for it and I had never read a book about dragons before, so hey, I was never one to say no to trying new stuff. Sadly, this book did not change my opinion on shorter books… The story could have been so much more detailed, because even though this book is about dragons, even after I’ve read it, I still don’t feel like I’ve learned anything about dragons and how they function in the paranormal world.

But that’s my opinion, I guess you just have to read it, and decide whether it’s something you can enjoy or not.

3.5 stars needs more details

Great quick start to a series. Brycen and Stella were hot together, but there's no back story until the last two or three pages. It just needs more.

2.5 stars rounded down to 2 stars!

I'm not really sure how I feel about Releasing Her Dragon.

At first, I was pretty interested. I was intrigued with the idea of fated mates that could be "released" and allowed to find someone new. I was also interested in the idea of needing a mate to keep from being "stuck" in one form.

Releasing Her Dragon started to go downhill for me around the first sex scene. The first sex scene wasn't that sexy (to me) since the scene was a constant interruption by the hero, Brycen, trying to force the heroine's dragon to appear. Then Brycen has to leave for work reasons and it just got rougher (for me).

It was at that point that I realized that I wasn't going to get the explanations that I'd been patiently waiting for. I never learned why the heroine, Stella, was completely alone and never found any other dragons. Ever. But [the others] did. And no real good reason given as to why Brycen was avoiding Stella. Yeah, I know it said he was working...but WTF. Am I supposed to believe he's been hiding in the damn woods with Blondie for months? Not buying that one.

There was a decided lack of completed world-building. Things/ideas would be introduced and then not fully explored. Those dangling questions left me feeling a little irritated and unfulfilled.

So, all in all, it's ok. There's potential there - it remains to be seen if the series will live up to that potential.

Releasing her Dragon was a wonderful quick read. I was a little confused in the beginning and wished there were some more details on the dragon species, but it was enjoyable overall. I would definitely be interested in reading the other books in the series.

I read a lot of PNR so this book was a bit of a surprise. It's the first one that I've encountered that the female was also a dragon and not made into a dragon by her lover, husband,or a male lead character. It was also the first story I've read in a while where the characters didn't have personal internal demons to get past but actual physical threats to what they were and not just who they were. If this isn't a series, it should be or I hope that it will be!

Stella Montrose is a female dragon who lost her entire family years ago so she doesn't quite know all of what there is about being a dragon. She does know she is close to turning into her dragon form and if she doesn't find her mate before she turns she won't be able to turn back into human form.

Brycen Conners is supposed to be Stella's mate but he has been avoiding her to finish his job before claiming her. When Stella tracks him down and asks to be released he refuses to do so.

Enjoyed the story building with the dragons and their turning and the hot and steamy relationship between Stella and Brycen. I did think it lacked a bit in telling why Brycen was so determined to stick with his job before meeting Stella as it would seem that the two could have mated and then returned to it. Just wasn't really clear on why it was so important to him beforehand.

Otherwise, interesting paranormal erotic quick read.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Inventive, intense, enjoyable paranormal romance – this first in a series of books was unlike any other I have read in this genre.

Stella is a woman in serious need. She must mate with her intended or face dire consequences. When they finally come face to face the intensity and heat between Stella and Brycen is amazing. Something unexpected happens to interfere with their final mating and then things become tricky enough that their happily ever after might not happen.

I loved the ideas presented in this story that I have not seen before. I like the idea of a clan of dragons working together after much has gone wrong for all of them. I look forward to hearing more about the history of the Dragon Blood Clan and also want to hear about each of the members and how they will find their special someone.

Thank you to NetGalley and City Owl Press for the copy of this book to read and review.

This is an amazing tale of a she dragon searching desperately for her mate before it is too late. Upon finding her mate she must battle his job as it pertains to a sexy and demanding women who tries to stake claim. Who will win this battle? Stella or the mysterious women in the woods? Will she be able to mate before she looses herself to her dragon forever?

I have to say that I greatly enjoyed this story. There was love, drama. compassion, heartache and a very interesting tale. I loved the dynamics that was shared while building for a brilliant series. I thoroughly can not wait for the next book. this is a full story in that there is a sweet ending but there was just enough drama at the end to make you long for more. Very good very clear and wonderful writing. An amazing job by a brilliant writer.

Epic! Pure genius! As usual, Author Elianne Adam's has left me speechless with this brand new series! She sucks you in from the first few pages with her ability to weave her magic around you in her action packed and extremely smoking hot romance from cover to cover, you won't be able to pick a favorite story of hers either! She certainly knows how to get your heart pumping!

I can't leave a blurb without giving spoilers but there's much more to this book than just what the blurb says.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the telling of this story. The plot was exciting and the characters memorable. The pacing is swift and you have some hot and horny scenes to add a little spice. Fans of Milly Tailden and Zoe Chant will love this.

This story would've had so much potential, had the author added details!
Stella is a female dragon who has never had her dragon come forward. In order to ensure she can shift back to her human self she needs to find her mate.

Okay. Let's pause here, there were so many details that could've been added to help make the reading easier. For instance, why is it a female shifter doesn't shift at will like the males? Why do they need their mate to ensure they can shift back? See there just was not any history about the dragons or anything that could help us understand a bit more of Stella's problem.

Brycen has been avoiding his mate to ensure he can do his job properly. He knows that if he mates with Stella right now he will be distracted. But when she starts to release him, all bets are off. Now he just has to hope he's in time to save her. Even with dragon hunters around trying to hurt them.

Again, details! Why was Brycen protecting a human? We have no idea what his job is. After he finds out about Alexandria's deceit what happens to her? Why couldn't he just let his other comrades watch over the human so he could've claimed his mate sooner?

Elianne Adams Releasing her Dragon. 4*

This is my first Elianne Adams book and I will be on the lookout for more, I love a shifter romance and this had it all. I have read a couple of Dragon shifter books and I really enjoyed her dragons. In a World where Dragons have been hunted almost to extinction the once mighty dragon clans decimated by Human hunters the remaining dragons live side by side with humanity.by side.

Stella is a female dragon drawing close to her change however without her mate she will be lost to her Dragon unable to revert back to human form. Brycen a male dragon knows his mate is near but he must complete his mission before he can go to her. I love the way Elianne wrote this story you felt Stella's fear and worry every day she drew closer to her change without her mates presence to draw her back. Torn between the desire to find his mate and observe his duties Brycen is a hot Alpha male who sets the heart aflame.

This story has hot scenes, drama and dragons what more can you ask for?? 4* out now and at £0.99p it's a sexy paranormal you shouldn't miss out on.

This is an unusual fantasy romance, about a pair of dragon shapeshifters. The lady doesn't know all the rules and problems about her inner self and the man, naturally, is well experienced and can tell her a lot and help her through changes at maturity. But first she has to find him, in a mountainous wooded area.

This is a take on all the inexperienced woman / sexually experienced man stories; wouldn't it be original if the woman was the experienced shapechanger? I'm sure the author has thought out her situation well, but she doesn't go into how shapeshifters relate to the rest of the world in this short tale. I enjoyed the descriptions of flight through the difficult terrain. I suggest that it's a romance for adult readers.

Very rarely do I truly enjoy novellas but this one definitely had me panting and wanting more. It's sexy as hell and has surprising depth for its length. Brycen and Stella definitely have more adventures to be had and I really hope that I can read more about this world because I was hooked. Seriously!

Shifters in Love Anthology

Stella has found her mate and just in time, she is close to shifting to her dragon form never to be human again (No real explanation for that). Brycen is her mate and senses her looking for him but he's working as some sort of bodyguard to some woman and has to wait till the job is over (there are other men that work with him, no stated legitimate reason that he can't be with Stella). And there's hunters and lost families and all sorts of things that are there and never explained. This probably would have been more enjoyable without all of the extras because all they did was confuse you with minimum information.

Releasing her dragon

I first read the second book of this serie. Personnaly it has too much sex and not enough story. I tend to skip the sex scenes it was a fast read.
I prefer more solid stories with deeper characters. I also like sries where the story continue from one book to an other. Not into the prince charming types of story .
I like that the personnas have a purpose in life . I did apreciate she was damaged by a bad break up .

I got this book free for signing up for the authors newsletter. Stella needs to mate before she shifts or she won't be able to return to being human. She's looking for her mate and thinks she's found him. But does he want her ? Brycen is supposed to be her mate but is hiding from her. This is one hot mini story, told from the view of the dragon shifters.

Dragon Blood: Brycen and Stella

The exciting beginning of a new series! This is the story of Brycen and Stella. Stella is the last she Dragon of her clan. Her clan was killed in a raid by the hunters as was Brycen's clan. The mating of the two was not smooth but Brycen and Stella do get their HEA! Great story and a good introduction to the series!

A great beginning!

A well written, great beginning, which I hope continues thru the rest of the series. The male and female leads in the story don't jump on each other and recognize each other as fated mates the second they meet.
The author is able to add more twists and turns in this first chapter than others can in entire books.
Looking forward to the next book!

Stella is the last Dragon of her clan and is chasing down her mate. If she does not mate, she will be stuck in Dragon form, never to live among humans again. Bryce has been hiding from her while he is working a case. There are Dragon hunters all over, hunting for trophies. A female is the ultimate prize. Bryce has to mate her ASAP, and get her and her Dragon to join before it is too late.

It was interesting to find that in this world, humans know about dragons and live (mostly) peacefully together. It felt like there was a lot of story before the story that I hadn't heard because of it, I think. Overall, it was a nice, short book with some steamy scenes and a bit of danger to boot. I enjoyed it.

Decent short story

Kinda felt like ended only mid story of a full book. Not a bad short story, characters are decently developed given short book. Not too rushed, just a bit empty ending as again feels as if just a part of a full story vrs an actual full beginning to end short story. Hoping continues on in next story

Great

This is the second book by this author that I have read, but a different series. Now I can't waite to get the other books in the series. They were both great and a new type of shifter series for me to add to my collection.

Felt like part of the story was missing. I truly didn't care for Brysen and his reasons for ignoring his mate. If he was so dominate, he would have never allowed her to suffer. Put me off the whole story.

Good Book

I liked it, but it was a little short. They are fated mates but there wasn't a lot of them getting to know each other before they had to mate. It was good and entertaining.

Short understandable Dragon shifter romance. I empathize with the female regarding her relationship struggles. The couple finally find each other and it becomes a HEA.😊

Stella a dragon shifter is looking for her mate.

Stella has been hunting her mate but he evades when she gets close. Brycen has been aware his mate is near but he is guarding a woman and thinks he can finish this job before he finds his mate. I highly recommend this quick read.

Short novella with both sides as dragons. With being an unmated female for a long time with her mate running from her, she doesn’t have much time left till she is no longer human.
