He knew she was trouble, but he just couldn't stay away.
Once an admired soldier, the powerful alien Drennan Laral now lives life as a space pirate after suffering a tragic loss. His days filled with thievery and violence, he welcomes the numbness of a life with nothing worth fighting for.
And then he sees her. The human female. Caitlin Oyari.
But with a price tag on her head, he knows she's nothing but trouble.
Yet her solemn, russet eyes call to him, beg him to be the hero he wished he could have been in a past life.
Yes, he was a man with nothing worth fighting for.
Until he met her.
This stand-alone novella is a steamy sci-fi romance with lots of action and adventure. It features gun fights, chases, a broken but powerful alien soldier and his fight to save and keep his innocent, saucy human woman.
I write steamy romances with themes I love to read: action, adventure, and a little humour amidst danger. My heroes are strong, protective, and sometimes grumpy. My heroines are brave, sweet, and sometimes a bit sassy. Stories where they bicker their way into bed are my jam.
My husband and I live in Canada with our two plump kitties. In my spare time, I like to doodle silly comics or dabble in web development.
The typos would have been found easily with a computer spellcheck. The relationship felt forced to me and that made it awkward. Small details were current, not futuristic--like wearing disposable gloves while treating a wound. The heroine is naive, contrary, and dramatic so she got on my nerves.
I received a copy from InstaFreebie; this is my honest review. TRIGGER ALERT: talk of **pe, kidnapping, threats of false accusations of **pe. It would have been easier to read if not for the multiple missing words such as how, in, and female and way too many "to" added here and there where they did not belong. The story is stretched a bit too much and you have absolutely no idea how they could possibly have fell in love. When I first got the book, it did not belong to any series. Now it does and it's no longer available on Amazon, not that I would have purchased the other books.
I liked this wonderful story. Drennan's story was nicely written. He needed something to live for, Caitlin is that something. Their story is exciting, mysterious, and full of action. I would highly recommend it to everyone.
It's ok, not enough depth just a surface read but it's still not bad for a short story. Drennan is a great protector although Caitlin's story seemed off and their struggle was repetitive.
Fun and quick read. I did hope for more of an alien "form" for Drennan, he was more human than alien, but because it was a quick read, this didn't bother me. I enjoyed the book, and didn't notice too many errors to deter me from finishing.
I love sci-fi romance and this was a sweet treat of a read. Drennan and Caitlyn spark off of each other and the great storyline makes this book worth delving into.
Caitlin ran away from earth and an unwanted marriage to find freedom, Drennan is getting by as a bounty hunter running from the past. When their paths collide Caitlyn feels like Drennan can keep her safe but she doesn't want to be trapped, Drennan wants Caitlyn but doesn't know if she's worth the trouble or if he deserves any happiness with her.
This was ok, pretty cute but could have been a lot more. I liked both characters for the most part but their feelings felt a bit rushed and I thought some of their decision making late in the story just had me rolling my eyes. The resolution at the end also just fell kind of flat, a little more drama would have made sense. That being said, it was a quick read that was fun and sexy.
