For every child who has ever begged to stay up later Mick, Mack, and Molly, the three popular squirrel children, are back in action—but not when they should be. This time, they are up and out in the middle of the night. After all, the owl children are wide-awake and playing. So why can’t squirrel children stay up late and play, too?

While the illustrations in this title are charming, the text didn't flow. On more than one page, I checked to see if a page had stuck together due to a leap in the storyline. The concept---of squirrels being day creatures that stay up late to play with night creatures, the owls, is a good one but this book doesn't effectively play it out.
This was a sweet one in the series about Mick, Mack, and Molly but not one of the strongest ones. Basically they go out roaming at night and meet the owl kids but then realize their friendship isn’t quite meant to be because the owls sleep during the day. Cute solution with them deciding to become pen pals, and I think introduced my 3.5 year old to the concept. She is a big fan of this series but preferred the fall and winter stories.
Mick, Mack and Molly are out to make new friends and play with the Owls. But it not that easy, the trio of sibling squirrels sleep at night and the owls sleep during the day. The trio sneak out at night, and play for awhile, but are soon fast asleep, and are taken back to their own beds when their parents find them. A solution is worked out to remain friends with their nocturnal neighbors.
Adorable illustrations, sweet message. My 1 year old enjoyed the illustrations and paid good attention when I read this one. Love the idea of sending letters to friends, if that is still a thing nowadays (haha). Might have to check this one out again sometimes from the library.
Plot left unfinished to the extent that we thought there were pages ripped out from the end of the book. Could have used at least 5 more pages worth of story.
I must admit that while this is the 5th Mick, Mack, & Molly book, I have not read the others.
In this book, the three little squirrel characters of Mick, Mack, & Molly are complaining about having to go to bed at night. They encounter a family of squirrels that are sleeping during the day. The ask their parents why they are sleeping and can't play, and the parents tell them owls are awake at night.
So, the playful little squirrels get out of bed that night to go find the owls to play. Being that they are supposed to be sleeping, they get tired and fall asleep. The squirrel daddy comes and finds them and takes them home.
The squirrels concede that that wasn't a good idea, and so in order to maintain their friendship they decide to make a special mailbox so that Mick, Mack, & Molly and the owls can exchange letters.
Cute book, just not a fave.

Three baby squirrel siblings become friends with owlets, but they can't stay awake at night and sleep during the day like their new friends, so they become pen pals. A cute story with nice illustrations.
