The Coordinates of a Dream

Rate this book
Inspired by human perception and the complicated emotions of the heart, MJ Abraham weaves tenderness and empowerment with all the complexities that make up our relationships.

Her debut collection of poetry includes a spark of hope, the sadness of loss, vulnerability mixed with strength, and the type of romance we crave.

Each poem takes you on a journey between our imperfect world to the realization that dreams are what we make of them.

Magic does exist; it runs through us like a wild, fiery current.

I have to admit that this is my very first book of poetry I've ever read. MJ has popped my poetry book cherry so to speak.

I started following MJ because of Claire Contreras. Claire would posts poems by MJ on her FB and Instagram and they would speak to me. MJ always seemed to post them at a time when I really needed to read them and they would always pertain to something that was going on in my life at the moment. MJ speaks to my soul.

I know I highlighted a good majority of the lines and full poems in the book. Some of them brought tears to my eyes. See the line above, she speaks to my soul. I feel the words in my bones.

Here is one of my favorite lines. "You are a woman, Adjust your crown and roar."

Thank you MJ for the ARC of this wonderful book of words. I can't wait to place the paperback on my shelf.

You know that feeling that you get when you read something that brushes against a piece of your heart that you forgot was still there after being badly injured?

Or maybe just those parts of your soul that nobody else seems to be able to reach? That sweet ache that you want to feel all the time. Over and over.

That's what poetry does for me.

And MJ's work is an incredible display of that sweet and achy bliss for me to enjoy again and again. I have been a fan of her gorgeous words for a few years now and I can only hope that she continues to share her beautiful words with us in a second installment of Coordinates!! <3
