Nick Pirog is the bestselling author of the Thomas Prescott series, the 3:00 a.m. series, and The Speed of Souls. He lives in South Lake Tahoe with his other half, Stephy, and their pup, Potter.
It was a hell of a lot of fun, and a highly enjoyable quick read! This is another short story in the ever awesome Henry Bins series situated before the events of the third novella 3:21 a.m., centering mostly on the endless mischievousness of the pets of Henry Bins and his dad and how they always manage to throw all of them into one impossible outragious situation to another. This time Henry has to rescue a gerbil (who helped him in the previous short story 3:06 a.m.) from a primary school by breaking in there in the middle of the night with helps from the whole gang: Lassie the cat, Murdock the dog, Rusmussen the brother of Billy the missing gerbil, and Henry's dad. They dubbed themselves "Ocean's Five" and each one of them had a codename by the insistence of Lassie, Henry: Nightcrawler, his dad: Mock Turtleneck, Lassie: Bisquick, Murdock: Stinkbomb, Rusmussen: Willow, and Billy: The Package. Obviously, nothing goes according to the plan, and soon all hell breaks loose.
I also liked the fact that just as the novellas were maintaining a serialized continuity, the short stories also keep a continuity from the previous one to this one, all the while giving several references to the main storyline. And yes, there would be no need to read these funny little stories to understand (or miss anything in) the novellas, but when they are this much entertaining in such a little space, why should anyone even want to miss out on all the ridiculous happenings and fun? I'm eagerly awaiting for the next short story "3:39 AM: The Bachelor Party" and of course, the next novella in the series 3:46 a.m.!
I am 22 and I laughed a lot while reading this book....just can't help without giving it 5 star...many people would find it strange but I just loved it.Don't actually know why though;but I think that doesn't matter. All that matters is it made me laugh made me happy made me feel like a child
This whole set of books, which I am actually re-reading, are very original, clever, and funny. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, quirky, and a fun read, I highly recommend Nick Pirog.
These books are hilarious. I love Lassie and Murdock. Billy is taken by a school but Lassie says he has been kidnapped. They must find him and reunite him with Rasmussen.
How I love these little extra short stories that have all the characters from the Henry Bins series but are centered around the little stars, the pets. If you are like me you will already be familiar with Billy and Rasmussen, the gerbils, from an earlier story. This is about reuniting the pair after Rasmussen has been found at the vets and passed on to a school for the children to have a class pet. Nick Pirog's humour always makes me laugh and this book is no exception, even the cover did it for me. I don't really want to give a lot away about the actual plot but will just say Lassie creases me up, love his crushes on different species. Another corker is choosing undercover names. Just simply enjoy this pure delightful book. Keep them coming Nick!
It's a heist caper that had me laughing until my ribs were sore. My husband was telling me to "throw that in my queue" if it was giving me such giggle fits and I was reading excerpts to him as I went. Besides the humor, it's just a really good story as is always the case with a book by Nick Pirog. It's a very fast and fun read. I'm going to also let my middle grandchildren read this one. I think they'll get a kick out of it, too. FIVE STARS!
I love these books. I smile the whole time while reading them. The only thing I don't like about them.....they're way too short! I always want more. Oh, maybe that's his plan. Crafty Mr. Pirog, very crafty
As usual, Nick Pirog delights with this short story. It's highly amusing and kept me engaged the whole time. The antics of Lassie, Murdoch, Rasmussen, and Billy (asking with a few other surprise guests) are great! Highly recommended!
Love this book as I do all of Nick pirogs books. Entertaining funny and always worth reading. I always re-order as soon as I'm done reading one of his books. Tasteful and enjoyable.
As with the other Lassie book , this was a fun read. Love the new " friends " who would ever think a talking cat could have so many different friends ?
This book was so light and fun and funny. It's brevity was refreshing. I have read almost all of Nick Progesterone books and thoroughly enjoyed them all.
