Warning: Graphic details and foul language. Threat of snorting milk or soda out of your nose, and if you are squeamish, possible nausea at times. Persons reading this novel may be prone to sudden outbursts of laughter.

My sixth story by Rhavensfyre. First one that involved Zombies. Also first one that included the writers behind Rhavensfyre as the characters. Roxy and KL.

Roxy and KL head on over to a comic convention. Dressed up in costumes. Their little zombie role-playing group will have a booth there. Hmm. My ability to form coherent sentences appears to be offline. Drat.

The transformation from human to zombie was not one I'd seen before. Roxy and KL are wandering around the convention floor, showing off their costumes and directing people to their booth. Suddenly KL and Roxy notice an odd little turn of events. They look around and . . . . everyone's gone all frozen like. Just standing there, like statues. Frozen. They wander, poke, wander. Statues just there. Unmoving. Until they poke one and it squeaks. Roxy and KL are startled, but quickly find out that the woman, Anna Ann I believe she called herself, had stood there frozen because she saw everyone around her all frozen like. And she was afraid. And figured the thing to do was to freeze. So, Anna joins the little group as they head back to the booth to the Zombie Response Team's booth. I mean back to their friends. I already said back to their booth. Not sure why I said that twice.

I don't want to do my normal 'this happened, then that' so . . . I won't. It was an interesting story. Even though the method of zombification was one I hadn't seen before, the story itself reminded me greatly of others I'd read. I don't mean that it wasn't an original story - it was. It's just that I've read . . hmm, I believe two or more stories set at comic conventions that have a sudden outbreak of zombies. The best of the lot being San Diego 2014: The Last Stand of the California Browncoats. The other one, whose name fails to pop into my brain, was a comic I'd read.

Shesh I'm really out of it right now. mmphs. Okay, I'll just note: original story, despite my reference to others that involved zombies and comic conventions. A good solid story, probably worth 4.5 stars. So, my second favorite comic con story. This isn't my third comic con story, just my third zombie outbreak at a comic con. Actually, there might have been two comics that involved a zombie outbreak at a comic convention. No matter. Point is this one was solid.

An amusing tale of the day the zombie apocalypse started for married partners KL and Roxy. Yes Rhavensfyre used their names for the protagonists of this story.

The banter is witty and amusing, their demeanor is tough and competent, but they also have heart.

It all starts at a comic con at a convention centre. KL is dressed up as a zombie hunting comic book character created by her wife Roxy, and they have a booth with some friends selling Zombie bug out bags, and other zombie-themed memorabilia. They even have a souped up truck for zombie hunting role-play. To say zombie's are their life, is an understatement. They just never thought they could be real!

The eerie way the zombie's "start" is unique and creepy. I loved that we're shoved right into the immediate action and mystery of wondering what is going on, and the struggle of what to do next with other survivors in tow, (some who are more hindrance than help) as they try to form a plan and defend themselves. You really feel like you're along for the ride.

There's a sequel, too, which I will read - although this isn't my favourite genre or Rhavensfyre work, it's amusing and different. A Kindle Unlimited Read.

This book was full of sarcasm and snark. Therefore I loved it. The main characters did not have a hero complex at all like most zombie type books. The Rules made me laugh. KL was my favorite because I just want to be like her. I am glad I got this recommendation or I may never have found this book and author. I will be reading more, including Vol. 2.

More than I expected!

I'm not an avid zombie fan. To be honest, this is my first zombie book. I didn't know what to expect but I really did enjoy the storyline. It kept me interested from beginning to end. It was thrilling, funny, horrifying and captivating. I often had to chuckle to the dialogues but also to some actions. The confrontations with the zombies were so vividly described that I sometimes had a tendency to look over my shoulders, afraid there were zombies behind me. To read it and experience it through the eyes of KL and Roxy was amazing. Another top notch book of 2 ingenious authors.

I love Lesbian Zombie Hunters!

Roxy and KL are badass and I would love to be stuck with them during a Zombie Apocalypse. They’re hilarious.

Roxy and KL are all set to go to the local comic con where they have a stall that sells not only their comic books but also supplies "Zombie Apocalypse Survival Kits". They also put on a show for the con goers with people volunteering to play zombies while they go round in their full zombie fighting get up and 'take care of business'. Hell, even the truck is set up like a zombie fighting machine. You may as well say these two are prepared for anything..... But are they?

When all of a sudden the whole crowd at the con stops 'dead' and you could literally hear a frog fart, Roxy and KL know something is seriously not right. Little did they know when they set out this morning that they would be not just fighting make believe zombies but that they would also be fighting the real thing. With their friends who make up a very mismatched bunch indeed and what makeshift weapons they can place their hands on they set off to escape the con.

So I thought this book sounded good when I looked at the description and after reading some of the reviews I thought I would give it a go. Boy oh boy I was not disappointed.

The author has provided us with an action packed story where the characters are so believable you would almost believe it was part autobiography. I think the splashes of comedy throughout the book make it lighthearted enough that you don't dwell on the gory bits which were very well written I might add. I really liked what they did with the escalators....but hey no spoilers.

I really liked the way the author wrote the story from the perspective of both Roxy and KL because they both bought different thoughts and feelings to the story. Roxy with her attitude dripping with sarcasm and Kl with her military like approach.

The only thing I found that I could possibly make a bit of a complaint about was how abrupt the book ended. I thought we might get a bit more of an explanation at the end as to why? But I'm hoping this will be rectified in a book 2... Hint hint.well done to the author and four stars from me:)

Loved Rhavenfyre's humor

I've read all of Rhavensfyre's other books but never the Zombie Hunters books since I'm not a zombie fan. However, recently I listened to a Monday night book reading by Rhavensfyre where Roxy was reading an excerpt from this book. It seemed really interesting from the reading so I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I especially loved the humor and the two story viewpoints, one from Roxy and the other from KL. Great job!

I really enjoyed this story, I'm not much into zombies but I really like Rhavensfyre . The characters were great and the story interesting. I liked the sense of humor portrayed at times and the kick ass attitudes. Can't wait to read more. Definitely would recommend.

This book was so much fun!!!

(FYI Amazon made a mistake on page count. It's really 243 pages not 154. FYI From the Author: Warning: Graphic details and foul language. Threat of snorting milk or soda out of your nose, and if you are squeamish, possible nausea at times. Persons reading this novel may be prone to sudden outbursts of laughter. )

I'm not going to lie, I loved this book!! Roxy and KL are just a pair of zombie hunting cos players at a convention. Their day is about to go seriously wrong!

As with all Rhavensfyre's work the little details and vivid descriptions were wonderful. The words trapped me and swallowed me whole. It truly felt like the main characters were real people and I was experiencing what they were.

While this story is a zombie thriller it does not take itself overly seriously. There are moments of levity and mirth, thankfully. I found good rock music in the background was a good choice. It kept me pumped and edgy.

One of the things I liked best about this story was seeing it from both KL and Roxy's POV as they took turns telling the tale. Their inner dialogue were priceless. KL is such a sassy, smart-mouthed, sarcastic little brat (in a good way of course!). One of my favourite lines she had was when she was thinking about the slow, noisy elevator (AKA metal boxes of death)She likens it to a moaning unpaid whore.

Roxy is more steady, like her military training kick in and she works on strategy to get them all to safety and uses her authoritative voice to keep everyone (mostly) in line. They are both kick ass and awesome.

Unlike other Rhavensfyre works this one was not made to be a romantic story and there was no sex but it still managed to have some mushy bits. “Then KL was beside me and everything was OK in the world again” Awww right! There are other sweet moments but this one really stood out.

The story has lots of action and its got a good flow. Lovable and not so lovable characters that made you cheer or hiss, and is so gosh darn well written. Stop reading my words and go read this book!!!

"Zombie Hunting Rule Number 8: Don't keep the coward alive out of some misplaced hope they'll turn around. They will just fuck you over the first chance they get."

4 stars. This was a lot funnier than I was expecting it to be. Snarky and quick. I liked this a lot. It's fast paced and has some great action moments where the gang has to fight off the zombies. I also really liked that this follows an established married couple KL and Roxy. Both women are absolute badasses and I loved their relationship. This isn't a romance in the slightest but I liked the moments we got. They're both snarky as hell and have a great sense of humor even at really inopportune moments. They kick ass together and lead a group of fellow con goers as they navigate through the start of the zombie apocalypse while at the convention. I thought this was such a fun and entertaining read. I'm excited to continue on with the series to see where things go next for these characters.

Oh my god! This book was awesome and I can't wait to read the next two! I love the fast paste she wrote and so many amazing movie references she added in this book was amazing, they were also the good movies too. If you would like to try a mystery zombie book that's actually different from all the other zombie stuff we grew up on.

Book 1 is a all in one day base story line of a lesibian married couple at a nerd convention repesting their "zombie fighting" group when instead the whole convention center and outside turn into real zombies. They have to do their best with what items they can find as weapons and get out safely and alive.

This has been the best zombie mind movie I've read in quite a while. There is intense action and hilarious incidents along the way for our intrepid zombie crew. Rules must be established and theme music confirmed to ensure the escape to safety. So enjoy some cold pizza and grab all the stabby things you can find and go on a misadventure with a couple of reluctant zombie hunters you won't regret it.

Short and sweet

A nice addition to the niche genre, lesbian fiction with zombies. Too short to become fully invested but having a con as the setting provides some funny moments.

Attention Walking Dead fans

Action packed and fun. I enjoyed seeing the zombie apocalypse through KL and Roxy 's eyes. Very exciting. If you don't like blood, guts and gore, you might not like this one. Definitely different from WD but it's a zombie story...what's not to love. Looking forward to the next adventure of KL and Roxy.

Great read

A campy take on just an average day that suddenly wasn't. A group of friends going to a comic con convention when suddenly mayhem ensues. People freeze in place and undergo change of the most gruesome kind.

I was surprised at this book, normally I do not read zombie themes. this is perfect for me because it has good scary moments, very funny, and imaginative teamwork, and situations, and characters to keep me interested.
I read these books written by rhyesfyre?(forgive the spelling) when I am going through a tough time or light reading. These books help me how to write better stories or different ideas for my creative world.
I better get some more books from rhyesfyre before they write some more (I'm a bit behind in catching up on their stories) Keep up the Amazing, Talented Funny writing and can't wait to read the latest tales on any book they create on. 🙄📚📚💖💖💖
