Saviour #1-2

Saviour Series: Saviour / Resolution

Rate this book
BOOK 1 SAVIOUR... Lauren has decided that her marriage is over, she has had enough of her husband's abusive and unreasonable behaviour. After making this decision and resigning herself to the fact that she will now be middle aged and single, she embarks on a girl's night out and spills her guts to her girlfriends about what she has endured, in secret all these years. Gabriel joins his brothers for a drink at a local bar. He's thirty five and very single. Good looks and a good job mean the ladies are generally lining up every night, which is just the way he likes it, straight sex, no complications. Then their worlds collide, neither of them looking or thinking that what they need is each other but the chemistry is instant and overwhelming and has the possibility to consume and destroy them both. Despite her husband's behaviour, Lauren is not a cheater and refuses to get involved with Gabe until she has moved out of her marital home and ended her marriage once and for all but events take a catastrophic turn and Gabe ends up coming to her rescue, becoming her Saviour and a relationship forms at lightning speed. Can they overcome both their pasts to survive the future, together? Is the amazing, mind blowing sex enough? Join Lauren and Gabriel on their emotional, funny, sexy and traumatic journey as they try to conquer the demons from their past and build a future together. Their story will make you laugh and it will make you cry and sometimes do both at the same time! This isn't a hearts and flowers romance, it follows the story of two broken people, trying to find a way forward together after being let down in the worst possible ways. Saviour approaches a serious subject with realism, heart felt emotion and even humour. Lauren has issues that will drive you insane and Gabe is lost, unsure of how to express what exactly it is that he's feeling, making them both behave in ways that you will find somewhat frustrating... BOOK 2 RESOLUTION... Resolution picks up exactly where Saviour left us all hanging! Having left an abusive marriage at 45, Lauren can hardly believe that she has found Gabe, a 35 year old blonde buff sex god, their instant chemistry has convinced him that that he wants to change his serial shagging ways and to make what they have found permanent, he knows that he loves Lauren but relationships are a whole new concept to him and he doesn't always get it right. Lauren, still reeling from the abuse she has suffered at the hands of her ex-husband is not convinced that jumping straight into another marriage is the right thing for her, despite how much she loves Gabe, the sex is amazing, they have no problems there. With Gabe she is growing in confidence and trying things in the bedroom...and everywhere else... that she never even considered during her marriage but they have known each other for just 10 short weeks and already they have been through enough drama to last a lifetime. Will Lauren listen to taunts from jealous exes and her own self-doubt; or will the love (and lust) Lauren has found in Gabe's arms be enough for her to let go of her painful past to build a future with Gabe. Resolution is the conclusion of Gabe and Laurens story, it will take you on a roller coaster of emotions, with some steamy and erotic sex scenes, just to keep your pulse racing, like Saviour, some scenes are gut wrenching, it will have you laughing, crying and wanting to not only hug Gabe and Lauren but also wanting to shake some sense into them. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. Resolution is the final book in the Saviour Series

I bought this book because I really enjoyed the story in Carnage. I was hoping for more of the same. What I got was over the top, repetitive and quite honestly ridiculous. Normal people, in love or not do not behave like this and if I had to read one more time how perfect Gabe was or how much he wanted Lauren all the time I could scream. I understand there is the fantasy level, but seriously? The constant fawning and self esteem issues, as well as two people moving at the ridiculous pace they did, and not having a single friend or family member question it was just silly. This story had a lot of potential for a good series, had it not gotten so caught up in the constant sex or wanting sex and reminding us how perfect Gabe was or how Lauren could not believe he was hers. Enough already, we got it!

Loved that it was sold as a box set
Saviour
Loved this book. Loved Lauren (the fact that she was almost the same age of me has nothing to do with it, honest). Our heroine is stuck in a loveless, abusive marriage. Gabrielle is a player who doesn't do relationships. On a night out with her friends (where she meets and kisses Gabrielle), Lauren comes clean to her friends about her abusive husband, and after a particularly bad beating, Lauren leaves her husband. Enter, player, Gabriel, and we have instant sparks. Love at first sight so to speak. Then it ends! I don't read cliffies unless the next book is out, luckily for me it was. Book 2 here we come.

Resolution
Resolution follows on directly from Saviour. The relationship between Gabe and Lauren continues to flourish. But, as with all things, they have plenty of obstacles in their path! The chemistry between the two main characters is out of this world. Lauren is coming to terms with her abusive history, and Gabe is navigating his way around the whole new concept of a relationship. Fab story with lots of twists and turns, happy times, sad times and frustrating times. Highly recommend.

I totally loved this series. I know some have said that there was a lot of repetition but when a woman is abused by her husband she is left with huge insecurities and low self-esteem. Therefore, these issues come up a lot until she can resolve them. Gabe was adorable and I loved the banter between them. There were some funny parts, sad parts and all in all, a great read.

Can't believe I didn't review this the first time I read this. This is the Set for the series, (and is currently under a major overall... ) Not that I didn't enjoy it first time around, but an author is allowed to update their old books... Lesley Jones created relatable characters and the storyline is something that is close to my heart, I love this story, and I'll be reading the updated book when it's out

I absolutely loved this series, and being able to purchase it in a box set is definitely the way to pick it up. Gabe was truly an angel for Lauren, who needed him to save her, from the moment they met at the bar. Having no where to turn and no one to help her to get free from her abusive husband, Gabe nearly forced his way into her complicated life. Love at first sight, as the saying goes, there was a very strong current of attraction that both Gabe and Lauren felt the moment they caught each others eye.

This author has a wonderful way of writing emotions for her characters, that help the reader to feel like they are in the characters place and experiencing life in that moment. I live in Canada, but I really enjoyed reading the Aussie and British slang. Then the author throws in some Italian words as Gabe is Italian; I like to learn while I read, and some new cultural terms sure make life interesting. "Oh God, whtever it means, I want to hear him say it again and again, but for now he's beyond speech. His eyes are wide and staring straight into mine as he jerks and shudders. I actually don't want to stop; I want to take very last drop from him."

These two characters live and dream sex. Lauren comments at one point that she is a virgin when it comes to experimenting with a man. From Saviour Book 1 "He flops down on top of me, both of us breathing heavy, our limbs limp and languid. I don't think I've ever had such an intense orgasm so quickly and I'm feeling very proud at how uninhibited I allowed myself to be." "I love it long and slow but I love it hard, fast, and unexpected too. I like it any way I can get it with him."

And from Gabe,"You're my world now Lauren. You're my f___ing everything. I don't give a shit about anyone else, because no one else can touch us." He's almost sobbing out the words, and I can see his bottom lip quiver as he tries not to cry. "No one will ever hurt you again; I'll never let him lay another hand on you. Do you hear me? Do you understand now, what you mean to me? What you've done to me baby, do you?" Gabe has a past as well, and he struggles with his feelings and in relating to a woman who is has real feelings for.

I can not say enough about how wonderful this book made me feel, to see, feel and touch the love that Gabe and Lauren experience with the terrible backdrop of the abuse that they both have suffered. This is a must read series, and I will be reading Carnage next.

I read the Carnage series and Conviction by the author and loved her style of writing and character development. Her characters are down to earth, easy to fall in love with. I was eager to read Saviour, it had so many good reviews and I couldn't wait to start the journey.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this series as much as her other books. I couldn't connect with the characters at all. Gabe is portrayed as a manwhore / alpha male. I just didn't feel it. As the story progressed I felt his character did a 180 and he turned into a bit of a wimp, he was nothing like I pictured him to be.

I also didn't do this whole 'older women' thing. Whilst I get what the author was trying to achieve, I found her insecurities really grated on my nerves as the book progressed. Lauren was married prior to meeting Gabe but ran away from an abusive and violent husband. Whilst reading about domestic violence doesn't bother me, I didn't feel the fear that builds when you know a situation is going to turn violent. Having grown up in a house where domestic violence was present for a few years, tension can be felt before any act of violence is committed. The way is was written felt more of a parody and I think the fear and emotion was just missing from this book.

Sorry LJ, I love your books but this one just wasn't for me.

Great Box Set!!

I fell in love with Lesley Jones books and writing style when I read Carnage...oh my, Carnage is ranked very high on my favorite list that's for sure. Then I had to read all her books.
Saviour- This book deals with some very heavy issues. However Lesley Jones has written about the topics very well. The great details used and the information given on these topics you can tell that the author has done her research well.
With all that being said, Lesley Jones did an excellent job on this book. There were twist, turns, and edge of your seats moments that keeps the reader wanting more. I don't give spoilers away...but let me tell you the Alpha Male is a HOTTIE!!!

Resolution- This book starts off where Saviour ends. This book still has a lot of the heavy issues in it. But just like the title there is resolution at the end for all the issues in the story. I don't want to go into great detail about the characters because I do not want to give anything away.

Both Saviour and Resolution are very good reads....but Carnage #1 and Conviction will always be my favorites.

MY REVIEW
I totally adore the Carnage series so i had to see if these two books could live up to the wonderful that is Carnage.
I have to say that i thought these books were not as good, there was a lot of repetition that was unnecessary.
The plot and story line are good and well thought out but i did feel that it dragged on abit to much for me.
I really loved the characters and the family dynamic was brill, but i have a complaint and it is whinny females, and my god was Lauren a whinger who has a whole heap of insecurities which to an extent i did get, i mean who doesnt hate there tummy b ut how many time did Gabe have to tell her he loved how she looked and thought she was beautiful. That woman could top up any river with the amount of crying she did, i do love an emotional book but this was just over the top crying every other line and it did get on my nerves. Lauren was a great witty character though and i did like her and Gabe's banter.
Gabe has a heart of gold even if he has a whorish past, but his relationship with his daughter was lovely.
For me these books were no where near as good as Carnage or Conviction but still a okay read.

Never to old to find true love

Lauren is married to Jason ( Jay ). To the outside world they are the perfect couple . She is a strong person, & she loves him, but unknown to others , he has always belittled her & abused her.
The night she meets Gabe is the night she ends up in hospital from the beating Jay gives her. That's when she decides to leave him.
Gabriel Wilde is a man-whore. He has never had a relationship & doesn't believe in that one true love, & then he meets Lauren. He knows he has to have her. When he finds out what Jay has done to Lauren he just want to hold her & protect her , forever.
Their love is instant & they need each other to breath . They have their up & downs .
Lauren learns why Gabe had trouble trusting & loving others . It makes her love him more.
Jay is trouble to the bitter end.
They get an amazing surprise.
You just won't want this book to end, it's such a great read.

I am in the minority here, maybe I gave up too early at 20% but knowing that there was still 80% left to read.. I could'nt do it. Yes Gabe was sexy and hot.. How many times were we told this?.. Way too many. I had to bail because this was way too instant love.. I am not spoiling anything here as you will know this from the first few chapters.. What happens straight after they say hello is rediculous. Also I had no connection to whatever her name was..Having said all that negetivity, I will say this author knows what she is doing.. If this book was something different from insant love i would have kept going. I will not rate it as that would be unfair.. Just because I did not like it, I do not blame the author.

Love Gabe

I absolutely love Gabe. He is everything any girl could want out of a man. Lauren is a lucky woman. There were some parts where I had to remember everything Lauren has been through or I would just get really frustrated with her. But of also love her attitude and when she is strong and comes out with her witty comebacks it makes me love her too. Even though it tends to get her into more trouble. Gabe also has a past that he is dealing with. When he meets Lauren and falls fast and hard for her he doesn't exactly know how to control his emotions. Such a good story of two people rediscovering themselves.

Who knew that a story about an abused 45 something abused mother of 2 housewife, meeting and a 35 surfer contractor single playboy would make an exceptional love story. Who would think of incorporating a scenario where sexy conversations between said characters take place in the toilet while said playboy is sitting on toilet with door open would have you go Awww.
Lesley jones does!
This is an intense, but sexy and funny story of two such characters.
It does not make light of such a serious subject , as Lesley encourages the reader to understand the importance of opening our hearts to our friends for support, and not feel ashamed to disclose secrets.
Great read!

I absolutely love Carnage Series and couldn’t wait to read this series. Unfortunately, I am in the minority when it comes to this series. I couldn’t even finish it, and I really did try. I very, very rarely DNF.

I am not a big fan of insta-love but that wasn’t the major fault I had with this series. I missed the chemistry between the two of them, all they did was whine and have sex (the sex scenes were pretty hot). Laura constant whining and insecurities drove me crazy. And Gabs constantly sucking up to her bored me.

With this said, I will still read more from this author because the Carnage series was so good.

Fell in love with Gabe & Lauren - a must read

I was so glad that I read this book as a box set series because I would have been so frustrated with the ending of Savior, it left me hanging and wanting to read more. Lesley will have you feeling like you are right in the book feeling everything & falling in love with Gabe and wanting to smack Lauren for continuing to go around her soon to be ex-husband. When will she ever learn. Lesley has an uncanny way of making you wonder what will happen next and still managing to surprise you. I truly enjoyed reading Gabe & Lauren's story.

This series just proves you don't know what happens behind closed doors . Bravo to our heroine she after 25 years walks away and meets her Savior Gabe.
GABE... you should read this Series for this alone.
Love discovery and learning about what happens next.... Gabe and Lauren's love story so much happens , so much is happening . Lauren I needed her I love her I understand her. I think we all can relate sometimes to someone like Lauren. Second chances at life and love. it was beautiful , hard and perfectly written.

Love doesn't rake long

This is a funny, heart wrenching, heart warming, pick yourself up and keep it moving kind of story. It has passion and steamy sex. One had the wrong kind of love. The other never knew what love was. When they get together, it's what a relationship is work. Nice read.

Saviour Series

I'm quite sad that I have finished these books as what a. Excellent read they are. I have been wanting for a long time to read some book about a woman who is similar to my age, 46. The story about Lauren & Gabe is amazing, loved the highs & lows of their blossoming relationship. Strongly recommended read

Great story

I completely loved this love story, everything about this story seamed real and the tragic parts were handled truly like real life, this author has either done her research or has had so much to deal with in her life that she's able to explain it beautifully and accurately

Lesley Jones knows how to write the most infuriating, easy to love characters! I can’t even tell you how frustrated I was with both Gabe and Lauren, so many times. But then I loved them more for it. What a truly fantastic story.

When the book has to have a glossary of British terms, I know the book is not for me. I cannot stand British English, and cannot connect with the characters for some reason. Just knowing that the words "trousers" and "knickers" are lurking in my future is enough for me to call it quits.
