My stepbrother Brock—the street racer, the panty-dropper, the absolute and utter as*hole.
He’s back in town, alive, and now we’ve been thrust together in the worst way possible. I’m living with the very guy my investigation is centered on. I’m betraying him right under his nose.
Since that night I’ve tried my best to forget him, done everything in my power to disconnect us, but here he is infiltrating every area of my life. All he cares about is that cursed car of his… or so I thought. You see, try as I might I can’t stop thinking about him, about his hands and his magnetic touch, everything I know is wrong.
But sometimes wrong is the only way to ride…
Fast and Furious meets Fifty Shades, Burned is the latest romance from the best-selling author of Chasing Storm, Teagan Kade, sure to kick your heart into overdrive.
This is a complete, standalone novel with no cliffhangers and HEA.
Teagan Kade thinks talking about yourself in the third person is silly, just like her collection of snow globes and rare manga. When she's not being silly, she's hanging out with her own Storm and two children in the south of Australia, dreaming of new characters and torturous ways they can get themselves into trouble. Teagan loves hearing from her readers, all of whom are as dear to her heart as salted caramel cookies. Shoot her an email at: teagan@teagankade.com. She doesn't bite.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest review of this book based on an advanced readers copy of Burned by Teagan Kade. This is a step-brother romance that will hold you captivated till the very end. Maddy is a cop and voluntarily goes under cover on her step-brother who the think is trafficking drugs. Brock is not trafficking drugs but growing it for medical purposes. Maddy has to prove Brock's innocence and bring down the true culprit. I can't forget about the off the charts chemistry Maddy and Brock have for each other. This is definitely a one-click book.
Well Teagan Kade did a good job of grabbing my attention from the first page. It kept me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages. When Brock the prodigal son returns Maddie's life is thrown into total chaos. Nobody is sure where Brock has been they all thought he was dead. Maddie is a cop that has been assigned to investigate Brock for possible drug distribution. As things go along Maddie is not sure of anything that Brock is doing. He says he has changed but as much as Maddie wants to believe him, she has many doubts. Can people really change as they grow up, this is the question that Maddie keeps asking her self. The attraction that Maddie has for Brock since they were kids grows even more. Teagan Kade did a great job of writing a bad boy that comes to redeem himself. I loved both Maddie and Brock, the chemistry between the two is off the charts. There was humor, suspense and off the charts sex. In my opinion this was a fun ride and worth reading, I don't think Teagan Kade disappoints in this book. I was given an ARC edition for my honest and voluntary review. I loved it.
Such a good stepbrother romance! Brock and Maddie have been step siblings and best friends for a very long time. Brock disappeared after high school and Maddie went onto apply and join the police force. As a new officer, she volunteers for an undercover job that she finds out is her stepbrother. Getting close to him is a challenge as he drives her nuts, keeping long hours late at night and sleeping all day. She knows she needs to do her job but finds it hard as she starts feeling more than just friendship for Brock. This was a good read with a few twists.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Received this free ARC Copy from the author for an honest review. Maddie is a rookie Cop. Part of her job is to infiltrate a gang run by Hernandez. Her boss thinks the leader is.....oh not him!!! Brock her stepbrother. Her sexy hot stepbrother. Can she use Brock to track the gang and not let her feelings in the way. Lots of Hot emotions, undercover work! and shady people. Can Brock and Maddie work together and who is the biggest betrayer of all... well I never guessed that plus little things can make a difference. Non stop action everywhere :-)
Maddy is a police officer and her captain want someone to fine out who the drug smugglers are and who is running it. He wants her to tract him, but it isn't just someone it is her stepbrother Brock. She hasn't seen him in 2 - 3 years and he hasn't changed, or has he. She is going to find out. I loved the twist and turns in this story. I really enjoyed this book, it is the first book I have read of Teagan Kade and can't wait to read more of her books. This is the kind of story you can't put down. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy.
This story was bangin'! Nothing like a sexy man in a I think it was a 67 Camero mmmhmmm. Kept me reading till the end. Maddie is a cop who goes undercover to spy on her stepbrother, the police think he is the ringleader of a drug operation. Maddie has always had feelings for Brock and visa versa, things get steamy while she is looking for clues. Is Brock behind the drugs or is it someone else? Read the book you won't be disappointed!
Basically, if you like believable stories with a bit of well written smut, this isn't for you. However if you like details about cars and unbelievable police drama, with a smattering of smut, this is for you. For me personally, it wasn't my thing; I just didn't feel emotionally invested in the story.
I liked the whole post-drug dealing/I'm trying to get out of the business thing going on. I confess I am a sucker for stories concerning mafia, guns etc.
The main protagonist was somewhat meh for me. It's not that I hated her but I didn't like her either.
This book could have been sooo much better but I feel like the main problem was the lack of character developent. Only her step-brother was somewhat interesting (and hot). All the other characters introduced were just...there. I knew they existed but since all they do is stick around why do you even have them? Plus they all seem to have similar personalities. (Maybe not personalities. More like...characteristics.)
The mature content scenes though were very well executed and described.
I love a good stepbrother romance story, so I was excited to read this one. I was hoping to love it, but I just didn't. The main character's Maddy and Brock were okay but there was nothing about them that I loved or even made them memorable. Even the side characters were okay but again there was nothing I really liked about Peter, Michelle, Jay, Axel, Hernandez or Birdie. The flow of the story was the thing that killed it for me. Everything just moved at such a slow pace. There was betrayal, jealousy, suspense, death, steamy scenes and even parts that made me laugh out loud and a happy ending, but even that wasn't enough to make me like this story. It just wasn't the one for me.
Maddy and Brock had a love/hate relationship for years but when Maddy was forced to spend time with him, sparks fly. The sex scenes actually made the story for me. I didn't feel a connection with Maddy and Brock as a couple. Individually their characters were well developed but their relationship needed more time to grow or maybe some flashbacks of them growing up with some sweet moments thrown in would have helped.
This book was really good. It is a very quick read. I wasn't sure where I was suppose to read it. I like reading about solving the crimes and mysteries. It was a shock to find out how long Brock had been in love with Maddie. I fell in love with Brock for what he was doing and trying to help others. I was very shocked at the end to find out the Captain was a dirty cop. I am hoping to see these charters in other books or another book about them.
When her step brother comes back after disappearing for a few years she can't help but think he was in prison for some of it. But her crush hasn't faded now that he's back it's grown stronger. But now she's a cop he use to deal ice and he still might.. now she must go undercover but will going undercover prove to make things much difficult for both of them?
This book could have been sweet. You have a reformed bad boy and a step sister who have been secretly in love with each other for a long time. Step brother's been gone a long time and no one knows where he's been, but all of a sudden he's back and we're not sure what's going on with him. I suppose since almost all of the angst happens off book, before this story begins, there's no build up or anything. The street racing and undercover police aspect of this book needed a lot more development. As it is, the street racing element adds no value to the plot. The characters and plot both need a lot of development. There were also quite a few grammatical and editing problems that needed some help. All in all, a short, but unsatisfying read.
I read some of the other reviews and while they are correct that a lot takes place before this story begins it didn't really detract anything for me. Sometimes too much info is given esp at the beginning of a book making it slow to get into. This throws you into Maddys life and it's your job to play catch up and learn what's going on. I liked that. I enjoyed it
After reading the other reviews I didn't think I would like this book. After reading it, I can't see what they were talking about. I really enjoyed reading this book. I would love to read more from these characters.
