This is a beautiful and fantastical book about a boring little girl and her eccentric neighbor, Mademoiselle Oiseau. The story takes place in Paris and Mademoiselle Oiseau reminds me of Mary Poppins, if Mary Poppins had been a French fashionista. The illustrations are both childlike and elegant with scribbles and drops of watercolor. It's a fitting book to read aloud, though I would never dare to due to my lack of knowledge on French pronunciation! Those, of all ages, who love fashion and whimsy will enjoy Boken om Mademoiselle Oiseau.

This book is a gorgeous object. The air of magic is pretty irresistible. I read this to my six year old son and he loved it. The plot is pretty minimal, but it is such a pleasure to spend time in the beautiful world that this book creates.

Detta är utan tvekan min dotters(6) absoluta favoritbok. Jag har högläst den kanske 15 gånger de senaste året, och otroligt nog håller den för det. Språket passar bra för högläsning och man kan som uppläsare leva sig in i Madames ganska excentriska dialog för sin egen underhållnings skull. Handlingen är minst sagt mystisk, och lämnar nästan allt oförklarat, något som verkar stimulera barnens fantasi. Eftersom boken bara öppnar "dörrar" till att fundera vidare på vad allt egentligen handlar om, utan att ens ge någon antydan till svar, så verkar baren inte bli mätta på den. varje läsning blir på något sätt ny för dem då deras funderingar kring boken kan vara olika varje gång.

Mysig bok, man blir inspirerad av att vandra i en värld av bohemiska parisiska gator, där vin, croissanter och hemliga platser finns bakom varje hörn.
Jag gillar upplägget med en ung tjej som känner sig grå och alldaglig och möter Mademoiselle Oiseau, en kvinna som böjer världen efter sitt humör och tycke. Rätt igenom är det en bok man myser ner sig med. Det saknas kanske en tydlig handling i boken. Jag skulle vilja se fler klasskamrater och Isabellas familj för att spegla hur hon växer och utvecklar sig i mötet med Mademoiselle Oiseau.

I loved this book. The illustrations are fantastic and the story is very excentric and magical. A little bit of Narnia, a little dose of reality, and a large dose of something so very endearing.

Książkę dostałam kilka tygodni temu, ale do tej pory byłam zajęta sprawami związanymi ze szkołą i dlatego też, recenzja jest aż tak późno.
Książka opowiada o Paryżu trochę z innej perspektywy. Poznajemy dwie różniące się od siebie postacie; Isabella jest dziewczynką, której nikt nie zauważa, oraz charyzmatyczna i tajemnicza Mademoiselle Oiseu, która mieszka na ostatnim piętrze kamienicy w otoczeniu kotów i różnych osobliwości. Wszystko w otoczeniu pięknych ilustracji, będących idealnym dopełnieniem tej historii.
Główna bohaterka jest pełna sprzeczności; mimo młodego wyglądu, cechuje się dojrzałością i wiedzą osoby starszej. W swoim paryskim mieszkaniu ma ciekawe stroje, znikające pokoje i koty, które zdają się jej jedynymi towarzyszami.
Niezwykła opowieść stworzona przez dwie Szwedki jest wciągająca od pierwszych linijek tekstu. Wraz z bohaterkami przemierzamy ulice Paryża, nie ruszając się z kamienicy i sprzed książki. To naprawdę niesamowite uczucie.

Ik heb echt geen idee wat ik heb gelezen. Ik had ook graag een ander einde gezien dan wat dit was. Er waren ook stukjes die gewoon niet klopten (zoals dat ze op een maandag gewoon even gingen picknicken terwijl ze toch echt naar school moest). Maar ja, het hele boek is een groot magisch geheel. Ik vond het allemaal net iets te apart en ik moest ook worstelen om er door heen te komen. Ja, ik had kunnen ophouden, maar ik wilde weten of dit gewoon allemaal een droom was of niet.

„Historia Mademoiselle Oiseau” jest pierwszą częścią przygód tytułowej bohaterki. Muszę przyznać, że z niecierpliwością wyczekiwać będę kolejnego tomu, który nakładem wydawnictwa Literackiego ma się ukazać jeszcze tej jesieni na naszym rynku. Dla dorosłego powieść do przeczytania w godzinę, do przemyślenia (zwłaszcza wszystkich nieoczywistych wątków) i podziwiania ilustracji na zdecydowanie dłużej. Gdybym miała dzieci, to chciałabym im - wśród wielu innych - przeczytać tę książkę, przywodzącą mi na myśl moją ukochaną "Małą księżniczkę", tyle że w bardziej paryskim i szykownym wydaniu.
Ilustracje są absolutnie przepiękne.

Nie wiem, co myśleć o tej książce. Ilustracje zapierają dech w piersiach, a Mademoiselle Oiseau jest niesamowita... A jednak coś mi tutaj nie pasowało. Po namyśle stwierdzam, że chodzi o dezorientujący ton opowieści i jej brak bliżej określonego docelowego czytelnika (teoretycznie jest to książka dla dzieci, a jednak niektóre sceny są dosyć jednoznacznie dorosłe). Tak czy inaczej, przyjemna lektura. Marzyłoby mi się przeczytanie pełnej powieści z Mademoiselle Oiseau w roli głownej.

Magisch-realistisch. De wat melancholische sfeer zweeft de hele tijd tussen droom en werkelijkheid. Het verhaal lijkt simpel en soms niet erg steekhoudend. Het échte verhaal zit hem in de kleine details, de kunstzinnige illustraties en de simpele, maar mooie taal. Geen typisch kinderboek, ook al is het hoofdpersonage 9 jaar.

Wat vind ik dit een GEWELDIG boek, wat houd ik hiervan!! Sprookjesachtig en met fantastische illustraties. Het verhaal van Mademoiselle Oiseau. Over wat waar is en wat bijna-waar is en over alles wat bijna te mooi is om waar te zijn, maar evengoed toch waar is. Of?

Speciell liten historia med mycket fantasi som ger läsaren möjlighet att själv utforska "svaren". Känns inspirerad av Alice i underlandet. Stimulerande och givande illustrationer, de känns till viss del ganska vuxna i uttrycket.

A wonderfully whimsical book where nothing makes any sense. Is it all for real or just imagined? Isabella, a grey little mouse, who noone pays any attention to, sure doesn't know. But she loves her new friend which is anything but predictable. She meets Juliette Oiseau on an ordinary grey day, by pushing the wrong button in the lift. Even though they live in identical flats, their flats are two different worlds. In Mademoiselle Oiseau's flat, there are several rooms that doesn't really fit the floor plan, there is a pool with a jungle painting, there is a perfume factory and the room with all the boxes... The first thing which happens to Isabella is that she is given a button with a tiger on it and her name on the back, like it was all meant to be. With the button in her pocket, she starts looking at the world in a different way and dares to lift her chin high. She meets Isis, Mademoiselle Oiseau's sister's granddaughter who puts spells on people which will protect them, she gets to listen in on a conversation between Venetian Louisa and her sister Mademoiselle Oiseau, realising that they are both excentrics, she gets to hear about Isis' mother who lives in a forest in Finland and travels between her two husbands, one Finnish and one French, several times a day, but the most exciting thing is when she gets to follow a treasure map around Paris to get medicine for Mademoiselle Oiseau and go on excursions in to a hidden world behind a door in the flat.
I think that to say that Isabella's self esteem is fixed by her friendship with Mademoiselle Oiseau is going too far. That is not how I read things nor would a child, who I think is the intended audience here. I am not even sure if a child could really appreciate the book the way I did. It is too insane and incredible. But then most of my children are autistic and like logic. Everything is magic in the book and most adults fall in love with the illustrations in the book. I can't say that they really spoke to me and I am not one of those adults who will buy the colouring book just published with the pictures. I give this book four stars because it resembles Mary Poppins too much and I prefer the latter.

Oj men så snygga bilder jag dööööör. Och ¨så trevligt och mysigt och drömmigt jag smälter. Älskar från början till slut. Kär i Burfitts tecknarstil och historien är faktiskt inte så tokig. Inte så tokig alls. Den har en fin innebörd och alltså jag älskar Mademoiselle Oiseau. Och Isabella. Föräldrarna får man knappt se så liiitet minus (tycker de borde få mer plats i barn/ungdomslitteratur!). Men så himla snygga bilder och så fint att man inte riktigt vet vad som är fantasi och vad som är påriktigt. Lite Shaun tan-aktig men mer vettig. Så himla snygg i bokhyllan. tack, tack, tack Rabén&Sjögren! (Och Andrea de la Barre de Nanteuil och Lovisa Burfitt!) Ett mästerverk i sitt slag, det är det.

Början var underbart kufig, men sedan blev den mest bara konstig.Grymt fina illustrationer, men jag ville veta mer om Mlle Oiseau, vem hon är, varför hon är som hon är. Mer, mer, mer! Nu blev det, som sagt, mest bara konstigt helt utan förklaringar.

Gillade denna skarpt! Det är lite sagolikt/mystiskt/spöklikt-aktigt med den och jag fick lite av en Alice i Underlandet-känsla. Riktigt mysig läsning idag i regnet! Och helt fantastiska bilder såklart!!
