Reid I swore I would never claim a mate. But seeing her on my couch, almost broken makes me re-think my self made promises. And when I get a taste of her, I know that I am completely and utterly F*cked. Lacey I never thought i'd be able to trust another man. until him. His world is one I never knew existed, can i ever truly belong here? Or am i just too broken for this life?
What a debut 👏😍 I absolutely loved Reid and was hooked from the prologue 🤭🖤 So glad I got the chance to read this one as an ARC. I loved all the characters and already can’t wait to get my hands on book two! 🥹🐺
Definitely recommend adding this one to your TBR! 📚
This book started off really strong and had me gripped! I loved how the plot was unfolding and was thoroughly enjoying the story.
However, around the 60% mark, I found myself getting a little bored. The timeline seemed to move quite quickly, and I occasionally found myself confused about what was happening. Although, that could just be me being tired all the time! I was pulled back in at about 80% !
Lacey – FMC
I absolutely loved her character development. After enduring years of physical, mental and emotional abuse, watching Lacey slowly find her strength again was wonderful.
She went from being a meek little mouse to a strong, determined woman. Considering everything she’d been through, I found it inspiring that she still had so much love and loyalty to give.
Reid – MMC
I loved how quickly we got to see his gentler side. Yes, he’s morally grey, but I’d say he’s a very light shade of grey!
He was incredibly caring and attentive towards Lacey. He recognised how much she’d suffered and, rather than rushing her, slowly but surely helped her rebuild her confidence and strength. His wonderful sister, Cait, also played a lovely part in helping Lacey find herself again.
The spice was okay. There wasn’t a huge amount, but I completely understand why, as anything more wouldn’t necessarily have suited the storyline or Lacey’s journey.
My only criticism is that some of the spice felt a little repetitive.
Overall
An enjoyable read with some lovely character development, particularly Lacey’s. Although the pacing lost me a little towards the second half, I’m still intrigued to see where the story goes, especially considering how it ended!
I had the pleasure of reading the ARC of Reid on my Kindle, and what a journey this was!
I wasn’t prepared for how invested I’d become in Reid and Lacey’s story. I loved watching Lacey find her strength, slowly learn to trust again and realise she deserves so much more than the hurt she’s experienced.
And Reid? Protective, patient and completely swoon-worthy!The chemistry, fated-mates connection and emotional moments made this such an enjoyable read, with just the right amount of spice thrown in!
I found myself completely invested in the characters and wanting to know what would happen next! I read this book in less than 24 hrs because I couldn’t put it down!
Cheryl, what a gorgeous story! I’m finishing this one with a full heart, a massive smile and absolutely no regrets!
Five stars, a new book boyfriend and absolutely no patience for more! 🖤🐺
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received this as an arc from the author for my honest review/opinion.
What a fab story. Lacey and Reid wow brilliant. When I started this book I just couldn't put it down. Lacey was a broken soul when she met Reid and seeing her grow into the strong women was heartwarming having Reid, Cait, Noah and Tony by her side was fantastic (Noah was just so comical I loved him). The spice level was just right not over the top or too little it was perfect for their story. I can't wait for book 2 to find out more. I mean who is the Phantom?? (I have my suspicions but I could be completely wrong), Lacey and her family I just know there's more to them and what happened before her arranged marriage to James. James and Nate I need more info. Book 1 was a fantastic opening book to this series, thank you Cheryl for sharing it with me.
This book had me hooked from the start, watching Laceys character development from being a mistreated young girl to the stronger version of herself as a grown woman and all the complex emotions and feelings that come along with learning to love herself after a lifetime of abuse has been written extremely well.
Reid not only supporting her but giving her the space needed is such a great portrayal of not only love , support and guidance but also compassion , empathy and patience. The added bonus of this being a shifter romance leaves so much more story and plot to be discovered - i for one cannot wait for book 2 because that ending- cheryl what are you doing to me 😅 !
Right from beginning of this book I was hooked and didn't want to put it down. It was fast paced and easy to read. I'm a slow reader but I've got through it quick for me as every spare minute my head was in it. The characters are well written and ready to get behind or dislike depending on who your talking about. There's some plot twists and turns that keep you engaged. Im looking forward to book 2 already.
I was hooked from start to finish and definitely left wanting more! I can't wait to have a physical copy on my shelf! It made me go through all the emotions, I laughed, cried, got mad... everything! I loved the relationship between Reid and Lacy and how it grew and developed. If you love fated mates, a little spice and a cliffhanger that makes you go whaaaaaatt?! Then grab yourself a copy ♥️
I was lucky enough to be able to read this debut novel by Cheryl Pratt. This book had me hooked from the start. Following an FMC who is forced into an arranged marriage and suffers at his hand. Until the day she meets Reid, then her life changes. This book is easy to read and I finished it in less that 48 hours as I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to book 2 already.
Omg!! What can I say about this book? I WAS HOOKED! From the very start to the very end! Loved the story, loved the characters. Amazing! Can’t wait for more! 😍 Well done! Xx
This book is considered a dark paranormal romance book that involves humans and werewolf shifters. This is the first book of the Blossomfang series written by Cheryl Pratt.
First Impressions:
The first thing I enjoyed about the book is the triggers and warning page, it alerts potential readers to the contents and asks not to read ahead if it could potentially trigger trauma. The first few chapters were really in-depth and provided a lot of detail of how Lacey the female main character was as a person, and how her violent husband had made her feel over the years, like she was not worthy of love and she was lucky that someone wanted her.
Her husband James, tries to trade her body out to clients, in which she obviously refuses as it is her body, so it should be her choice. James being a narcissistic man, absolutely hates that she refuses him and tries to force her into obeying him. A bystander steps in to prevent him from hurting her, for the moment.
The bystander turns out to be Reid, the male main character, dark, brooding and not looking for love in any kind of way. To him, it is a weakness.
I can see why there were so many trigger warnings in the beginning, it is a shocking first few chapters talking about MCs and DV but it is manageable for myself.
Mid-way Impressions:
The book is a really good read and I am enjoying reading it. The character development of Lacey and Reid are brilliant. Lacey goes from hating all men, and refusing to believe anyone would help without wanting something in return to loving one and enjoying the company of a few others, ones that she could eventually see as a family. A big improvement to her confidence and self-esteem, putting up a fight when needed.
Reid also had a massive character development, once he found out Lacey was his fated mate, he could not stay away from her. He had so many ups and downs during the time she was with him, to the point of triggering her trauma due to others lies. But he showed true vulnerability when he realised he could lose her, due to her finding about him being a wolf shifter.
Twists:
Phantom is a WOMAN hacker. James being a twin? SHOCKING!
Final Impressions:
There are a few grammatical errors within the book but only small ones that probably would not be noticeable to someone less picky than myself. One of the bigger ones is that the sister seemed to age 2 years in the space of 7 pages, so unsure if this was a typo or not. I feel like it ends with so many things left unsaid and not found out, so I hope we find out in the next book. Overall, it was a really good read and I have enjoyed being able to read this book, I can not wait for the second one to come out.
Rating:
I would give this book a 4/5 stars, I have enjoyed being able to read it and I am so grateful that I have been able to get this ARC. This book gets released on November 24th!! Make sure to give this author a follow on socials and order the book!

Reid is written in a dual POV and follows Lacey who has been abused by her father her entire life and threatened that her sister will suffer the same treatment if she doesn't do as she's told. As Lacey turns 18 she's told she's to marry James to benefit her father's business and out of fear for her sister she agrees. Once married she moves into James's home and he turns out to be even crueler than she could have ever imagined. After James goes too far one night Lacey ends up in a situation where she is offered a way out and she agrees to accept the help, only to come face to face with Reid who doesn't seem happy that his sister has invited a stranger into his home but as Reid and Lacey get to know eachother something bonds them together in a way either of them saw coming. Unfortunately James believes he owns Lacey and is furious when he finds her missing and will go to any and all lengths to take back what he believes belongs to him but the question is will Reid and his family protect her or throw her back to the wolves? Firstly I am an absolute sucker for a wolf shifter romance so had high expectations for this book and it didn't disappoint. The world building was fantastic with the character development being phenomenal and I found myself quickly immersed in this world. I absolutely loved how Reid helped Lacey come out of her shell with the journey being truly special whilst remaining realistic. The background stories for each character were written really well making it easy to fall in love with each character whilst equally hating a few fiercely. The found family vibes were beautiful with Cait and Lacey's relationship being a highlight. The twists and turns were intense and the ending was everything I needed it to be and more. I absolutely loved this book and I'm excited to see where the next one takes me!
I was completely drawn into Lacey’s story, and what a journey!
Lacey initially appears beaten down, broken and bereft, but don’t let that fool you. Beneath that vulnerable exterior is a strength that nobody could have anticipated. I loved watching her character unfold and discovering just how much fight she really had in her.
Reid, on the other hand, has built walls around himself, determined not to let history repeat itself. But sometimes fate has other plans, and some bonds simply cannot be denied.
And let’s talk about the chemistry, the connection and that undeniable bond!
Things I loved:
* Wolf shifters * Fated mates * Found family * An undeniable bond * Characters with hidden strength and plenty of layers
I’m so invested in this world of shifters already, and I NEED to know where Cheryl Pratt takes this story next. Where is Olivia? Her husband?
But seriously… WHO IS PHANTOM?!
I need more of this family and I can’t wait for book two!
I enjoyed that the book was written from each of Lacey and Reid’s POV and the writing just flowed and was such an easy story to fly through.. Really enjoyable read!
I absolutely loved Reid! It was humorous, dark and tackled some incredibly heavy topics, including women's rights and domestic violence. I particularly appreciated how it explored the struggles women face when leaving toxic relationships and the lasting trauma that can come with walking away and rebuilding their lives.
I loved the romance between Lacey and Reid, but what really made the book stand out for me was the overall character dynamics. The relationships between the main characters and the supporting cast were so well developed, and every interaction added something to the story.
It was the perfect balance of humour, darkness, romance and meaningful themes. I genuinely loved it!
That being said, there are still far too many unanswered questions! I'm patiently (although perhaps not very patiently) waiting for book two because I NEED answers. I have so many questions, and I'm not ready to leave these characters behind just yet!
This is such a great debut! Reid being a wolf was introduced to Lacey in such a high-stakes scenario, and she took it so well.
I really enjoyed learning about the relationships, and watching the wolves become attached to their Luna. The found-family aspect was written really well.
I’m really looking forward to the second book; hopefully, that’ll be about Noah and Phantom! And hopefully, we’ll see more of Lacey’s sister and her situation. Why is she so calm and easygoing knowing what Lacey has endured?
I would have loved to see some more questions asked and answered; maybe Lacey took it all in her stride a bit too well, relying on her love of reading paranormal romances to understand shifters. I also felt ocassionally there was a bit of a jump between events, with no indication of a change, so I got a little confused a couple of times.
