Haunt the Haunt, Walk the Walk

As if communicating with the dead isn't strange enough, Ripley Van Raden does it mostly via text message. Good thing she has the unlimited data package with her cell phone provider.

Librarian by day and haunted tour guide by night. Rip, as her friends call her, discovers books that possibly contain secret messages. When a young girl is murdered, Rip has to put her sleuthing skills to the test.

With the help of part-time paranormal investigator and full-time handsome police officer Brannon Landon, they must work together to solve this potentially paranormal related crime. Brannon and Rip can't let an ex-wife, dark entities, stalkers, or defaced library books stand in their way.

Ok, I can't deal any more. These could be good books if not for the horrible editing and the writing is weird. Sometimes its ok and then for a while it reads like a child is writing it. The story is rushed, details are left out or the details change. Sometimes it seems like the author stops in the middle of a thought. Not to mention that, as far as sleuths go, even amateur sleuths, Ripley is a complete airhead.
I gave it a chance, but after 3 books things just aren't getting any better. I should have stopped after the first one.

Meh

Again, too easy to see who the killers are from the get go. Also, more editing errors. Misplaced, or missing words...sloppy editing.

Haunted tour

Loved the whole thing. Wanted more parts with Brannon but that's cool. The suspense in the story was well written

Annoying

Poorly written, no editing, spacing was all over the place, lame dialogue, so many redundancies, incomplete thoughts, incoherent placement of characters, typos, the list goes on. It's too bad; this could be a good story but the lack of editing made it so hard to read. It's not worth it. I can't believe this is the 3rd book. Someone please get this author a good copy and content editor, STAT!

This book started out with a cute fun idea, a librarian who gives haunted ghost tours, finding ghosts and solving crimes. Unfortunately, it had lots of weird typos and missing ideas that the reader had to piece together what was meant. Sometimes the story was almost like one of my third grade students wrote it with super simple sentence structure.

Ripley also sees ghosts in this story. It is never explained if others are seeing the ghosts also, why she is seeing the ghosts, or how the ghost interaction is even important to the story.

This was a free ebook. It was a good simple read, but I wouldn't pay money for it.

Can the librarian find the clues in the books in time?

The story, while part of a series, does stand alone, but while the heroine goes from one overly spooky place to another, it would help to know why a woman who runs a literally haunted ghost tour seems to be afraid of most of them. Well, the killer is definitely live and after the heroine as well. A good surprise ending to it all. Now, go check your shelves, get all the library books back on time!

Hauntingly Good!

Ripley Van Raden is back in her third ghostly adventure. By day the head librarian, by night a haunted tour guide. This time a young woman is murdered, & Rip & boyfriend Detective Brannon Landon partner to foil ghosts & catch a killer. This is a well plotted page turner that kept me guessing till the end. Rose Pressey's books are always a joy to read!

Haunt the Haunt, Walk the Walk - Review by Martha A. Cheves

Devil's Moon was one of the most haunted places I'd ever known. It had more than its share of ghosts. There were plenty of scary stories to keep everyone intrigued and an abundance of ghosts to be spotted everywhere in town. I'd quickly figured that out when they kept popping up all around me. Sometimes the spirits even followed me during the tours. Of course that freaked a lot of people out, and I was a little scared of them myself. Especially since I didn't know what they wanted or why they were following me. There was also a new development in my paranormal adventures - ghosts were now sending me text messages. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true.

Oh yeah. I'm Ripley Van Raden or Rip to my friends. I moved back to my hometown to take the position of head librarian, but also used the opportunity to start my tour around town. My tours always start in the cemetery where the ghosts are plentiful.

Not long after moving to Devil's Moon we had a murder in town. That's when I met the hunk of a policeman, Brannon. We hit it off from the beginning. You see, he is into the paranormal too. I also met the library ghost Annie who was the librarian many years before me. She is the one who first started texting me. But lately, I've started receiving text messages from someone else. I've also being followed by someone that I've never seen before. Could they be one and the same?

Oh yeah again. I forgot to tell you that there was another murder in town and this one really has me scared for my own life.

Haunt the Haunt, Walk the Walk is Book 3 in the Haunted Tour Guide Mystery. I've read all of the books in this series so far and can tell you that Rose Pressey has me wanting more. She keeps you guessing as to who the murderer really is but keeps the story 'light' along the way. I personally can't wait to read Book #4 - Walk this Way, Haunt this Way.

These books are getting better and better. The last book had a lot of errors and desperately needed a proofreader and an editor but it seems like the author has found some. Ripley continues to grow as a character and the slow romance with Brannon is nice. I liked the addition of Brannon's ex-wife even though I hate her as a character. Unfortunately, I was able to figure out who the murderer was but again that didn't take away my interest in the book itself. This is what a good writer does, he/she continues to hold the reader's attention even when events drag and/or the suspense is not so suspenseful.

I love the fact that Ripley keeps in touch with Annie the Library ghost. That's a common thread in this series that just pulls all the books together. The one problem I have with Ripley is that sometimes she dumb. Not stupid, just dumb. She does things that anyone else would think twice or more about doing and consequently puts herself in dangerous situations. At first I thought she did it just to get Brannon's attention but after a while it became obvious that she has little or no common sense. Since I know several people like that, it just made Ripley more human to me.

So on to the next book in the series!

Ripley Van Raden is Devil Moon"s librarian by day but gives a haunted tour at night showcasing the haunted locations in town. When Rip sees a strange woman at one of her tours then discovers a library book left at her door that showcases a haunted house in a nearby town, Rip is pulled into a mystery. When Rip goes to the home of one her library assistants and the murdered roommate, she's also pulled into the investigation along with detective, Brannon Landon.

While I liked the book, there were a lot of grammatical errors and typos that detracted from the story. In addition, I was put off by Rip's behavior throughout the book as she talks herself into withholding information from not only Brannon but her best friend. Rip just seems to be lacking a bit in her character. I'm disappointed as I read another of Rose's series and love it.

The Library gets a new assistant, Chrystal, to help Rip & Tammy out. She seems to be fitting in pretty good, when her room-mate Melissa is murdered. This is right after Melissa had checked out a couple of books from the library, & had left them in places for Rip to find. Both books were on haunted houses. But before Rip could ask Melissa why she left a book on Rip's sidewalk in front of her house, & another book on someone elses sidewalk, she is murdered.

Rip goes into sleuth mode to find the killer for Chrystal. A few more bodies pile up when Rip realizes her own life is in danger & possibly Tammy & Chrystal's as well. I enjoy this series. The author is a good story teller, but needs to have someone proof read her work. There are quite a few miss spellings, whole words left out of sentences, & wrong words used as though they had been auto-corrected by the computer.

Ripley Van Raden is a quirky librarian, who lives in a small town called Devils Moon. She communicates with the 'Other Side' via, of all things, text message; and runs a little business on the side, in the evenings, guiding a haunted tour in the area.

In this third novel of the Haunted Tour Guide Mystery series, a young girl is murdered in the town and Ripley, with one of the resident police officers, Brannon Landon, sets out to solve this crime.

I feel the characters in the book are well developed along with a delightfully energetic and fun writing style. This combination made the book a very entertaining world to step into. The plot is full of unexpected twists, and I was in fact surprised to find out who had actually committed the crime in the end. I would definitely recommend not only this book but the whole series.

Another great book! I even got goosebumps! I felt the spirits just by reading the description! Yeah! Great characters, spooky ghosts, a creepy cemetery, scary haunted houses, unexpected murders, unpredictable twists and turns, betrayal, and evil friends! Also great friendly ghosts, a hot dreamy boyfriend, a loyal BFF, and fantastic library! Loved how it all played out, keeps you guessing until the very end! How she does haunted tours and is afraid of ghosts is a little strange and surprising! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Just couldn’t relate to main character

The main character and supposed heroine was just too wushu washy and really made irresponsible choices she didn’t act like a heroine at all just a mosey woman with little common sense. I’m usually try to give 5 stars but I just couldn’t I forced myself to even finish the book. The story itself had great bones to it but the characters actions ruined it for me.

Rip is a bit strange for an I-can-see-ghosts standar. She actually is making money out of it by having a haunting tour. But when ghosts approache her for help she is no help. Sometimes she can even recognize them. Even with the weird and confusing story, the book is entertaining. The touch of romance is classic and the friendship is very admirable. For a stand alone story, it was a.little confusing some characters and stories that obviously came from previous books.

This is a fun & light read. I love the ghosts. They really added a bit of spice to the murder mystery. Then again, I wasn't surprised. Rose Pressey is good at what she does. I always look forward to reading her book. I haven't read book 1 & 2 yet but I was able to easily jump in and follow the story. I still plan to go back and read the ones I missed.

I loved this book

Only bad thing about the book, is I was able to figure out the murderers about a third of the way through the book.

Even though I guess the ending, I enjoy Rip and her friends and want to read the other books in the series.

Another exciting book by Rose Pressey

More ghosts than Rip can handle? You will have to read the book to see how she deals with the many ghosts that communicate with her. I enjoyed the book very much and I am off to read the next one in the series!

Very Short Cozy Mystery

I enjoyed reading this book in the series, but I felt a little disappointed at the end of the book. Something was missing, and I came away feeling almost bored. Which is very confusing when there are ghosts and murders showing up.

Good spooky read.

I really enjoy this author's ghost walk series. The characters are realistic and enjoy their encounters with most ghosts. I will read more of this author's books.

Worse than first 2 books combined. The plot was none existant. Storyline completely scrambled and senseless. There are more books to this series? God help ys. I won't be reading them. A grade school child could write a tighter story than this author!

A librarian who sees ghosts and leads a ghost tour in her off time. Ripley has a penchant for getting into trouble. If the ghosts aren’t bringing it to her, she is hunting it down.
This was a good story that read quickly and was very entertaining.

Friend or foe

Really like the plot and characters most of the time. For someone who does haunted tours the main character sure is a chicken. Getting kind of old. Some editing errors.

Chase through the library

Another fine cozy mystery by Rose Pressey about the librarian, the hunky policeman and the ghosts . This one was featuring a haunted house, seances and a love triangle ending in murder.

Sorta good for awhile but the editing was pretty badly done. I finally just skimmed till I got the end. It got a bit long-winded. I started out liking it but by the end I sort of regretting spending time on it.

Too... something.

I'm not exactly sure what Ripley is too much of, certainly is trying hard for self-reliance in overwhelming situations. Luckily, people are around to help. Some, not so much.
I did, at some point, guess the killer, but was only half right.

Haunt the haunt, walk the walk

I have read both of your books. They keep you on the edge, I can't stop reading the book. Haunt the haunt kept you captivated, I couldn't figure out who did it. I can't wait for the next book
