I really enjoyed this story! The suspense, and action was excellent. The touch of romance was sweet. I loved how inspiration, and faith was weaved throughout the story. It's nice to read a Christian based action / suspense story. The story is part of a series but reads as a standalone.
The story starts out with Lydia McKenzie talking with a friend at her local bistro. They heard a evil laugh, and everything went black. The bistro exploded from a bomb. The police has been working to find the bomber that has bombed a church, and other places. They call him the laughing bomber.

Jesse Hunt is a k-9 officer. He and his dog Brutus is called to the bistro to search for any survivors. He had dated Lydia when they were in high school. The two broke up years ago, and lost touch. He just found out she was back in town, and missing. His heart stopped when he found her, and was relieved when he found she was alive.

There was only 2 survivors from the bistro bombing. Lydia, and a waitress. Both are targets now. The suspense, was really good throughout the story. I never knew what was going to happen next. Loved this story!

What a riveting story that keeps you guessing until the end!

I loved this story!

Lydia McKenzie is a young woman who

grew up in Alaska and fell in love with Jesse Hunt, but made a bad decision that changed her life forever. She left Alaska in the blink of an eye, but now she's back.

Coming back wasn't her decision, but when her father died she was left not only his veterinary practice, but also guardianship of her younger sister.

Jesse Hunt works as a sergeant with the local police department with his K-9 partner, Brutus. When he isn't doing his police work, he is volunteering for search and rescue operations in Alaska. He is in the middle of a church bombing investigation when the call comes in that the bomber has struck again at a local diner, Melinda's. Upon his arrival his first thought was that the bomber was escalating with each site and the amount of time between each. Upon hearing Lydia was in the diner when the bomb exploded his gut knotted with dread, but finding her proved easier than anticipated. She's injured, but not dead thank goodness.

Jesse feels that Lydia seen something that she can't remember and that something could put her in danger if the bomber thinks it's significant. Jesse vows to protect her and his heart. Lydia realizes that something is eluding her, but what she's unsure. The police think she needs protection and at this point she's not entirely sure.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and have your heart pounding. The characters capture your attention from page one, but the plot line keeps the pages turning. Ms. Daley has a unique ability to weave words that draw the reader into the story as though they were a part of the story. This is book is #4 in the Alaskan Search and Rescue series which is centered around a search and rescue mission, but is definitely a stand alone story.

This story reminds me that God is always there for us and we need to learn to turn to him for not only guidance, but also comfort during our trials.

I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who loves suspense or a good romance.

I received this book from the author and publisher for a honest review without bias or outside influence as stated above.

The Protector’s Mission is another action-packed addition to the Alaskan Search and Rescue series. It stands alone if you have not read the other books in the series.

I loved the back story between the two characters. It created such tension between Lydia and Jesse for the majority of the story. I appreciated the way Jesse worked hard to be kind and protect Lydia throughout everything, but continued to hold his heart back.

The situation that Lydia is in sets an exciting theme for the story. Right from the beginning, she is in danger. That danger seems to follow her throughout the entire book, never really letting up. The suspense in great and only toward the very end of the story did I suspect who the bomber might be.

There’s frustrating tension between Lydia and her teenage sister, Kate. Their interactions show that Lydia’s mistakes from her past continue to impact not only the way Jesse sees her, but also the ability to connect with her sister. I really felt for Lydia.

The Protector’s Mission was exciting and had a great romance thread running through it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Protector’s Mission (Alaskan Search Rescue #3 )
By: Margaret Daley

The Protector’s Mission is the third book in Alaskan Search Rescue. Even though this is the third book it can be read alone . Ms. Daley writes a very exciting inspiration romance suspense, which will keep you on the edge of your seat till the end. The story and the characters are so alive, they captured me right from the start. I loved the three main characters , Lydia a veterinarian , and Jesse a police sergeant and his K-9 partner Brutus. Jesse also volunteers for the Search Rescue Operation in Alaska. A serial bomber is on the loose in Alaska. Several bombings has taken place and one of them is at a local diner where Lynda was at. Will Jesse let his difference between him and Lydia hold him back in searching for her? Will Jesse and his partner , Brutus come to Lydia’s rescue? Lydia ran off with another man years ago and Jesse has never gotten over it or her. Is the bomber after Lydia and why? Will Lydia and Jesse both ever learn to trust God and each other?
I was given this book for my honest review, which I have given.

If you love a good quick suspense novel to read, I suggest you pick up a book with the name Margaret Daley on the cover. I absolutely love her work and I'm pretty positive you will too.

Her latest release is on the shelves now so I highly suggest you pick up a copy of The Protector's Mission as soon as possible before they are all sold out.
It is the third book in Ms. Daley's "Alaskan Search & Rescue" series.

The heroine, Dr. Lydia McKenzie, finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. In fact, after surviving a bomb blast she is rescued by police sergeant Jesse Hunt and his bomb sniffing Rottweiler Brutus. These two characters have a past. One that Jesse wants to forget and not talk about and one that Lydia feels she needs to apologize for. Their story is a sad one but once they get beyond the pain of the past good things happen.

The 'bomber' is out to make sure no one can reveal their identity which causes a chain reaction of bombings. This keeps Jesse and Lydia on their toes.

I truly enjoyed reading this book and found the characters were believable and they touched my heart. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good clean suspense novel filled with twists and turns. The Christian thread helped move the story along.

I would like to thank the author, Margaret Daley, for my copy of The Protector's Mission. I received my copy for free in order to read it and give my honest review, which I have done.

This is probably one of the most realistic LIS's I've read recently when it comes to "police procedure" following a serial bomber case. Margaret really does a great job of making the reader feel a part of the action! Her books just get better and better! I found myself saying, "what would I do if that happened to me?", quite often. The main character, Lydia is back in her home town in Alaska following her father's death and just happens to be in a bistro when it explodes from a bombing! What would you do? People are killed, Lydia is trapped but if finally rescued. However, she doesn't remember much of what happened shortly before the bombing. That's a problem because the bomber thinks she can ID him and goes after her to silence her! After all, he's a serial bomber and doesn't want to get caught! Enter Sergeant Jesse Hunt, and his K-9 partner, Brutus. Lydia and Jesse were high school sweethearts but Lydia left town to marry another man after high school and Jesse never understood why. He promises to keep Lydia safe from the bomber (which is getting harder and harder!) but he wont get involved with her again.....will he? Oh yeah, Lydia also has a very stubborn teenage sister to deal with too! Everything is so believable in this book and I enjoyed it very much! I highly recommend it!

I thoroughly enjoy the action and suspense in the Love Inspired Suspense books. This one is no exception. Margaret Daley has done an excellent job of hiding the clues to the bomber right up until the end. I have often read books twice as long as this and have figured out the bad guy half way through, but not this time. I was starting to guess two or three pages from the point that he was revealed but was still uncertain. There are certain aspects of an inspirational romance that become rather evident only a short time into the book and that works. But I love being kept in suspense about what the crook will do next and who it is. For me, the faith aspects help to make the story as each person grapples with what they believe and whether they will turn to Christ for the deep answers to life. I highly recommend this book as it encouraged me to see how each one handled the extreme circumstances they faced by trusting Christ and each other. I have shied away from pets most of my life but I enjoy the interaction in the story between the animals and their owners. I especially enjoy reading about highly trained animals. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Suspense and romance in Last Frontier!

Once again Margaret Daley has penned a tale of nail-biting suspense and I think The Protector's Mission might just be my favorite book so far in Alaskan Search And Rescue series. I've really enjoyed this series because it features two of my favorite story elements; it's set in Alaska AND it has dogs. And since The Protector's Mission just happens to be my go-to genre, well, that makes it even better.

I really enjoy the Love Inspired Suspense books and Margaret Daley's are some of the best. It seemed like there was a little more of a suspense angle in this book which is something I definitely liked. Oftentimes I can guess the killer only part way into the story but not in this book. Margaret Daley kept me guessing from beginning to end.

Any Margaret Daley book is a must read, but the Alaskan Search And Rescue series, and The Protector's Mission in particular, are definitely so.

(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)

Margaret Daley writes riveting, inspirational romance and The Protector's Mission does not disappoint. A serial bomber is on the loose in Anchorage, Alaska and Veterinarian Lydia McKenzie witnesses a bombing at a local bistro, and she becomes a target. Sergeant Jesse Hunt and Search and Rescue dog, Brutus, join the Laughing Track Bomber Task Force and the adventure begins! Lydia betrayed Jesse right after she graduated from high school, and now Lydia and Jesse are thrown together as Jesse's mission is working as Lydia's protector. Will Jesse be able to finally open up and share his feelings with Lydia? Will Lydia be able to remember details about the bombing her trauma has blocked before the bomber strikes again? Will Lydia’s sister Kate’s rebellion cause problems putting lives in danger? Margaret Daley has a talent for ending each chapter with a twist to entice you to read just 'one more chapter’! This was a quick-read as I wanted to find out who did it! You’ll never guess! Definitely a must-read.

The Protector’s Mission
By Margaret Daley

I started reading this book yesterday, and kept picking it up. I had to know what was happening next. I got to the end of a chapter and thought I should rest my eyes but in the last sentence when I read they heard a loud crash in the other room, I had to continue. This would make a good movie. What a lot of adventure in Lydia and Jesse’s life. Also the K-9 dogs, especially Brutus helped save lives. Am glad they have dogs that are so trained. They saved lives. Adventure I can live without. Loved this book. I highly recommend you reading it. You won’t be sorry. I don’t know how Margaret Daley can come up with so many stories filled with so much goings on. Kudos to you.

This is the first book that I have read from this author. There is a serial bomber in Anchorage and their small S&R department and the K-9 department is overwhelmed. Lydia McKenzie grew up in Anchorage, but was forced to leave town after an unplanned pregnancy and a forced wedding to a high school boy friend, who she had already broken up with. She was always in love with Jesse Hunt. Now after her marriage has disintegrated, and her father dies, she is now the guardian of her younger sister and has also inherited her father's veterinarian practice. She then becomes the only live witness to the third bombing and Jesse , now a police sergeant on the K-9 and S&R squad must guard her, while also guarding his heart. You know how this will end, but the journey is exciting.

Best villain take-down ever! I did not see it coming and then I was cheering and howling with laughter. Speaking of howling -- love the K-9 aspect. And the fact that Lydia is a vet. There are so many layers to this story -- in Jesse and Lydia's relationship -- within the suspense, -- Lydia's complicated relationship with her sister. Every page held some important nugget of information so pay attention when you read The Protector's Mission. This is the kind of book you just don't want to put down because you can't wait to find out what happens next. A stellar romantic suspense.

I just loved the book and especially with the dogs in the book. It is a great mystery, that keeps your interest and turning pages. I was up till 4am reading and couldn`t wait to get back to reading it. You keep wondering where the next explosion will be and holding your breath no one will be hurt. I just loved Brutus. I can`t wait for her next book, I love this series. I have read her books for many years and love them all.

What a fantastic story--a real page-turner. I didn't want to go to bed last night, but I finally did and finished reading this morning. Boy!! The story really heated up in the last chapter. I was sitting on the edge of my seat! Thanks for sharing the way God fit in the story. It was beautiful!

The Protector’s Mission by Margaret Daley is the third book in Alaskan Search and Rescue series. I have not read books one and two. I feel this book is a stand-alone novel though. I have read Margaret Daley’s writing before and liked it. I enjoy the Love Inspired books so I was sure I would enjoy The Protector’s Mission .

This is an Inspirational Romantic Suspense novel. While there is not preaching in the story, I did see how God worked in the lives of the characters. There was talk of their faith and trust in God. The story is told from the points of view of Lydia McKenzie and Jesse Hunt.

Both characters had relationship issues connected to family and those of the opposite sex. This made them more believable to me. Neither were living perfect lives. To become better than they were, they had to face obstacles, mostly from the past. One of the biggest obstacles for them was the fact that they dated as teenagers, which caused more romantic tension between them.

The Protector’s Mission takes place in Anchorage, Alaska. I have read many books, but none about this area. While it is not described extensively, I liked the setting. Jesse had a k-9 partner.  I saw how much police officers become attached to their canine counterparts through them. There are several intense parts in this story. I was guessing throughout the book as to who was the criminal. The ending seemed a little abrupt to me since it didn’t give as much detail as I would have liked to learn about the crimes. I would recommend this title to fans of suspense and those who enjoy a sweet romance.

Full of action and Christian ideals

I think I liked book 1 the best so far, but this is still very good. The mystery of who is doing the bombings keeps you guessing until the very end of the story. Lydia is having lunch in the bistro when it blows up from a bomb. Jesse and his K-9 bomb-sniffing dog Brutus are searching the wreckage in hopes of finding survivors, when they find his high school sweetheart, Lydia. She is injured but survives when many others didn't. Unfortunately, she can't remember much from that time right before the explosion. Someone, however, thinks she does remember. And they are out to stop her! Lydia is a vet who has a busy practice that was interesting to read about also. The storyline has a ton of twists and turns to really keep you on your toes and guessing.

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character and action oriented storyline that has no steam, but a few brief kisses. The characters are vivid and engaging, including Lydia's sister, the dogs and the police officers who are drawn in to protect her. Each book is a standalone story, but you will get more if you read them in order. Enjoy!

This was a very short suspense book. I didn’t feel a connection with the couple in the story. I didn’t feel that this was a romance.

This story centered around a woman named Lydia McKenzie. She is the only living witness to a serial bomber’s latest threat. She survived an explosion at a cafe. She is rescued by a police sergeant named Jesse Hunt and his K-9 Partner Brutus who is a Rottweiler. Lydia struggles to remember details of the incident.
She and Jesse have a past where she had feelings for Jesse but she ends up marrying his best friend in the past. Jesse and Lydia were high school sweethearts but I didn’t feel that they had a connection.

After the explosion Jesse is put in charge of her protection. He believes that the bomber is after her. Jesse promises to keep her safe. Their feelings for each other come up but for me they weren’t resolved in my opinion. They didn’t go out on dates, sleep together or get to know each other again in the story. In the end he proposes marriage ??????? I didn’t get that they were a couple in this story. I didn’t want them to end up together.

"The Protector's Mission" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the third in a series but works as a stand-alone. There's a serial bomber on the loose, and the suspense came from everyone being in danger (can they solve whodunit before another bomb is set?) and the danger to Lydia since she saw the bomber. She has short-term memory loss from being buried in the bomb blast and can't clearly remember who she saw before the blast. Jesse's SARs dog found her in the rubble, and Jesse helped to protect her as he worked to solve who the bomber case.

The main characters were engaging and reacted realistically to events. Lydia didn't freeze when in danger and thought fast on her feet. Lydia and Jesse got along and worked well together. They grew to care for each other as they spent time together. The Christian element was about trusting God and forgiving people. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting novel.

This is an exciting second chance romance. Lydia McKenzie broke Jesse Hunt's heart when she eloped with another years ago. Now she is divorced and back in town since she inherited her father's veterinary practice and is her sister's legal guardian. She hadn't run into Jesse until she was one of the victims of a bombing. Jesse is investigating a series of bombings and is shocked to find Lydia in the ruins of a local restaurant which was bombed. When danger continues to follow her, Jesse takes up her protection personally.

Will Jesse be able to keep her safe and figure out who is behind these bombings?

Plenty of action with this one as with most of Ms Daley's stories. Besides dealing with a bomber, Jesse Hunt and his K-9 partner, Brutus, are trying to keep Lydia safe. Lydia may know the bomber and he wants to make sure her memory does not come back. The situation between Jesse and Lydia is complicated by a previous relationship. Well handled. I liked the book well enough that this is the 2nd time I read it.

Starts off with a bang and keeps on going. I loved the quick rapid pace and so much can be understood and related to our life, Good people make bad decisions, bad things happen to good people.
Taking care of a teenage sibling, second chance romance and explosions going off all over town. Woven throughout with a gentle touch is God. I really enjoyed this. Well done!
