ওরা আকাশে জাগাতো ঝড়

ইনকিলাব জিন্দাবাদ!
আজ লক্ষ লক্ষ সংগ্রামী মানুষের কণ্ঠে প্রতিনিয়ত এই ধ্বনিটি শোনা যায়, কিন্ত অনেকেরই হয়তো জানা নেই যে,ভারতবর্ষে কবি ইকবাল রচিত এই ধ্বনিটি প্রচারের মূলে ছিলেন শহীদ-ই-আজম ভগৎ সিং, যিনি ১৯৩১ সালের ২৩শে মার্চ প্রাণ দিয়েছিলেন লাহোর সেন্ট্রাল জেলের ফাঁসি-মঞ্চে।
শুরু থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রে- ইনকিলাব জিন্দাবাদ। গ্রেপ্তারের পরে- ইনকিলাব জিন্দাবাদ। বিচার সভার- ইনকিলাব জিন্দাবাদ। ফাঁসির দড়ি গলায় নিয়েও সেই একই ধ্বনি- ইনকিলাব জিন্দাবাদ। 'Untold Story' নামক বিতর্কিত গ্রন্থের রচয়িতা ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনির প্রাক্তন সেনাধ্যক্ষ প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী জেনারেল কাউলের ভাষায়:
'When Bhagat Singh's turn came, he was given a mask to cover his face, before he went to gallows. He threw it away scornfully, advanced his chin up with a steady unfaltering step, solemnly kissed his gallows, saying he was lucky to be laying down his life for his country.
He then bade good-bye to the Indian jailor, doctor, magistrate, who stood there as silent witnesses. He was hanged with his eyes breathing fire with revolution on his lips. The handful of Indian official present at the time, hung their heads in sorrow and shame for hanging a patriot.'
