Shadow Channing needs to rebuild his pack.

After six months in captivity, everyone thinks he and his brothers are dead, and Sawtooth Forest is in uproar. The packs must change their ways, or violence will lead them to extinction. To become alpha, Shadow must get revenge on his captor as well as secure the future of his pack. Easier said than done when there's a shortage of female wolves, and they've been sold off to the wealthiest wolves in the forest.

Trina is a work in progress.

After a car accident claimed the life of her fiancé, Forever Home Animal Shelter is the only place she feels like herself, relating to animals much better than people. When the pack of wolves she rescued shape shifts into men on the full moon, their leader will do anything to repay her for her bravery and kindness. Trina knows that Shadow needs her to protect his alpha status, but soon she learns she needs him just as much.

Trina must decide if she's ready to take a chance on giving Shadow her heart, especially when she knows how easily it can all be taken away.

Kristen Strassel is far cooler than she’ll make herself sound in this bio. She enjoys spending time with the voices in her head—nudging the characters toward those bad decisions and a happily ever after. When she’s not writing, she’s often still in the land of make-believe—doing makeup for film and television. And when she’s not doing any of that, she enjoys making her house look like a Pinterest board, watching football, and road trips to the middle of nowhere.

Shadow Channing, wolf shifter and Trena, owner of the 'Forever Home Animal Shelter' find each other when she rescues him in wolf form from a dog fighting ring event. Two weeks later, when the full moon comes, Shadow and the other rescued shifters change back to men.

Both main characters in Rescue Me are strong but they find what they need in each other. Shadow is caring, protective, understanding and compassionate while he remains strong and shows he is an Alpha by leading by example. In a way both Shadow and Trena needed to find each other so they could find what they needed in Rescue Me.

I read this book as part of a box set.

Shadow's and Trina's story continues as Shadow struggles to gain the top position in the local packs. He is still not sure if Major Lowe is working for or against him, but he knows he must get rid of the man who kept them captive for six months if any of them are ever going to be safe. Trina is still having problems letting go of her guilt for her part in the death of her fiance. She wants to commit to Shadow but feels she is not worthy of his love. As he works to prove himself the alpha that his pack needs to go into the future, she works to find the courage to love again.

Intrigued by the story line

These short stories should have been combined for a full novel. The story line is good and I want to continue to know the outcome, but struggle with the length. I would've have loved a more conclusive ending. *spoiler* she commits to mating, but is it even possible? Can they have wolf babies, part wolf, full shifters? How is it she is different to be compatible?

So, I’m not a huge paranormal fan, but there are some standout reads that are interesting, clever and fun. Sawtooth Shifters was definitely a standout! I also am glad all the books were out when I started this so I could read the entire series start to finish. Each segment is a shorter read, so the whole thing took me just a few days. I enjoyed some books better than others, some characters more than other, but in the end, I was able to appreciate the parts I liked less, because the contributed to the whole. The premise of neighboring “Packs” working together to deal with social issues like any community would – or species would – was interesting. It’s not just that they have to deal with their “secret” of being shifters, but they are dying out due to lack of their strongest asset (females), they are infighting, and are fending off Packs from other territories. These issues are conflicts that any community can come across. Adapt or die. Living semi-isolated, adaptation is their only option. The Forever Home women were the perfect way to introduce the possibility of adapting, and hope in general. Outcasts as animals ‘saviors’, and animals as healers. This series mixed and matched so many community necessary attributes that, as a whole series, told one great story. Actually, this would have made a really great long read. All 7 books as one.
With that said, book 1 and 2 Trina and Shadow: So the first book introduces us to the Forever Home owner (and her first two assistants) Trina and the Wolf that becomes her mate, Shadow. These two are great anchor characters to the entire series. Rivalries have become vicious and some Packs are imprisoned in their wolf form and forced to fight to the death for the sport of the richer, more elite Packs. Trina may have been broken herself at one time, but now as lead of the Forever Home animal rescue, she leads the charge – literally – to stop the “dog” fighting only to learn they aren’t dogs, but wolves. And when their leader shifts in front of Trina the story really begins! Not only have Trina and Shadow found a connection, they bring together the Sawtooth Pack and the Forever Home girls in what is definitely a strange match-making situation. They can fall is love, but is that the same as finding one’s mate? Can they or can’t they? The bigger issue is the loss of land, loss of Pack member and infighting. Shadow is destined to be the Alpha, but first he has to rally the rest and prove that working together is essential to survival. The locals and other Pack families, who all thought the imprisoned wolves were dead, are not only shocked to find out they are alive, but those that are also shifters now have to reorganize and deal with the reality of their shrinking way of life. Recommended read!

Let me have your heart. I’ll protect it with my life. 5 GOLD PAWS

It’s already yours. *sniff sniff* WOW! I am completely blown away by how FURRIFIC this story is! How FANGTASTIC this series is!! I was surprised at just how powerful & intense this story & series are! While there’s a lot of good stuff, hot stuff, friendships, romance and pasts to deal with & move forward from, this is also a very potent story that does not shy away from the horrors that have brought the animals and the main characters - Shadow and Trina - to this point, to find each other. Because of the heartbreak that they have been through, because of what they are going through & what they must do in order to have any shot at a HEA, be prepared to go on this intense, dark and emotional journey with them. I find that I become so immersed into Kristen's books so quickly that I am not only feeling & experiencing FOR the characters, but WITH them as well, which is why I find this series so compelling. Feeling & re-living Trina’s past horrors & pain with her when she was telling Shadow about it absolutely gutted me! I was sobbing so hysterically and my heart just broke for her! Shadow’s past and connection with his Mom had the same effect on me! But then on the flip-side you get the passion, friendship and finding the road to recovery, acceptance and happiness that became that much more sweeter & touching because of it all! I ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY LOVE how Kristen has made these Shifters all her own with their unique history, laws, packs, abilities, etc. Even though it does have a darker tone to it, there is just as much, no LOTS MORE, romance, humor, and (aww) animal cuddles to chase the sadness away! All of that is exactly why I very quickly fell in book love with Kristen!! Being able to show the darker sides not only helps to brighten the lighter sides and make the journey that much more worth it, but it also helps to make the story that much more richer, give it that much more depth, so that it touches you mind, body & soul! With Kristen's phenomenal talent, I can’t help but become one with the stories & characters, to love the stories and to impatiently wait for the next book to be released! I have read quite a few of her books now and have abso-fracken-lutely loved EVERY. SINGLE. ONE!

Shadow Channing needs to rebuild his pack. Before Shadow can become alpha of his pack he needs to enact revenge against his captor. The piece of scum who held him captive for six long months.

The next thing before becoming alpha is finding a mate. A wolf mate is out of the question as there's a shortage of female wolves. The few there was has been sold off to the wealthy wolves.

Trina starts Forever Home Animal Shelter after a fatal car accident claims her fiancé. After rescuing a pack of wolves. Their leader will do anything to repay her for her bravery and kindness. Trina knows that Shadow needs her to protect his alpha status but, does she know that mixing wolf/human isn't done? Will Trina decide to help or run away?

Shadow and Trina's story continues. Shadow is trying to fix his life after everything was destroyed by Ryker. Having to rebuild the back. Trina is trying to get her life back, suffering from PTSD after a car accident killed her fiancé while she was driving she finds that Shadow helps soothe the tornado inside.
It was a great story filled with romance, spicy scenes and intrigue. it's also about two people saving each other and letting themselves be saved.
I'm really looking forward to Baron and Kiera's story.
I received an ARC for my honest review.

Continuation of Forever Home, where we see what takes place between Trina and Shadow. Will they mate for love or will Shadow ignore his feelings because she is human. No clan has ever taken a human mate, and for good reason, they aren't strong enough, or are they. Ryker is still on a vengeance causing issues for the wolves, will that come to an end or will he continue his scheming ways? You need to read :-)

Time to read the rest of their story and learn what happens. I fell madly in love with the first story that I wanted to read more about Trina and Shadow. I am so happy that I took a chance on Kristen’s books because I can’t imagine missing out on these wonderful stories that have left me captivated

It was ok. I really had hoped it could have been more but for me it didn't make the cut. It's too bad too because I liked that the heroine was chubby like me.
