Spike is a dog who gets blamed for bad things that he did not do! Because Shannon thinks he did the bad things, she takes Spike to obedience school He is the Number 1 dog in the class and makes a new friend. When the class is over, however, bad things around the house continue to happen. It is then that Spike and Shannon learn that Spike's new friend is to blame.
This book is great to read multiple times because the full-color bold illustrations hide clues to the culprit who is knocking the trash cans over and doing over mischievous things. This attention to detail keeps young children interested in the story when it is reread to them.

Great picture book for Pre-K through 1st grade. Spike is getting into a lot of trouble lately. After returning home from obedience school, Spike gets in trouble again. He decides to get to the bottom of this and discovers a wee-bit of a dog hiding under the deck with the stolen sock. Great for a lesson, you can look back and see a part of the little dog in all the previous pictures and an observer (a little grey squirrel)

Strange things are happening in Spike's backyard that he is being blamed for, so he's enrolled in obedience school, which Spike enjoys. Upon successful completion of school, Spike returns to his yard, but strange things still occur. Spike decides to investigate the mystery behind what is happening, and he is shocked to find out who the real culprit behind the mess is.

This book was read for Wesley’s summer reading club. Wesley is my (soon to be five year old) son. This review is what we used for his reading club.
***

Wesley and my mom also read this book. It was pretty cute and Wesley loved the dogs in the story.

A great picture book, and perfect for kids who want something more interesting than just these "warm and fuzzy" picture books about friendship.

Spike is endearing. The story in this picture book isn't perfect, but Spike is definitely endearing.
