Enter the world of Dragonlands with all 5 novels from this bestselling epic fantasy series.
Hidden: The mystery enshrouding Hutton’s Bridge is as impenetrable as the fog that descended at its borders eighty years ago. Each year, three villagers enter the mist searching for answers. No one ever returns.
Then a dragon falls from the sky to the town square, dead—the first glimpse of an outside world that has become nothing more than a fairy tale to Hutton’s Bridge. Except to Tressa.
Tressa grew up with Granna’s stories of the days before the fog fell. When Granna dies, leaving Tressa without any family, Tressa ventures into the fog herself, vowing to unravel the foul magic holding Hutton’s Bridge captive.
What she discovers beyond the fog endangers the lives of everyone she loves.
Hunted: The fog that trapped the people of Hutton's Bridge for eighty years has disappeared, but now so have the villagers.
Fearing the worst, Tressa and Bastian must navigate a new and dangerous world in search of their people. Among their allies are a healer, a warrior, and even a dragon--but their enemies are far greater.
Hutton's Bridge has long protected a powerful secret, one the dragonlords will kill to control. As the realms rise, Tressa and Bastian risk everything to save their people, until one must make the ultimate sacrifice.
Retribution: Tensions are mounting in the Dragonlands. The dragon hordes are mustering, each with its own agenda. But Tressa must conquer her personal demons before answering the call to war.
Gravely ill, her body undergoing mysterious and frightening changes, she travels to a distant land for the answers crucial to her survival. What she discovers rocks her to the core.
As the battle begins, a long-slumbering magic--dark, powerful, and brutal--awakens. And Tressa learns the ones you love most can become your greatest enemies of all.
Desolation: Tressa's army won the battle, but at a terrible cost. So many lives lost. So many lovers torn asunder. And that was just the beginning. An ancient beast rumbles beneath the Dragonlands, thirsting for blood. Dragon blood.
Setting aside her heartbreak, Tressa ventures beyond the Dragonlands to the mysterious realm of Desolation, searching for allies and answers. There, she faces enemies more powerful and devious than she’s ever encountered before.
Yet amid the violence and destruction, Tressa discovers a secret that’s been kept over eighty years. A secret that could be the key to saving the Dragonlands, once and for all.
Reckoning: Tressa’s journey to Desolation ended in tragedy. After losing someone close to her, she retreats to the Charred Barrens, hiding underground and wallowing in self-pity… until prophesy rains blood upon the Dragonlands.
Alone, Tressa embarks on a quest to heal all that have been hurt and defeat the enemy for good. With the fate of the Dragonlands in her hands, will Tressa succumb to the enemy’s manipulations, or will she finally succeed in ending a vendetta against the dragons that spans centuries?

What a fantastic story. I was hooked from the very first book. I'm kind of depressed now, that I've finished all 5 books. Very well written, with characters that you can root for, laugh with, cry with. Excellent storyline and plot. All 5 books are a must read for any high fantasy reader. Since this is 5 books in one, it should get at least 25 stars.
This collection and the reviews lauding it are why I don't trust reviewers more than my intuition. What torture. I hoped against hope each page would somehow redeem the sloppy pitiful "storytelling" but even the last page was pitiful. We are told but not shown. Characters do things but never are developed so that their words and actions make sense. It was like a long long outline for a decent story. Ridiculous plot twists...epileptic and just impossible. Run dear reader, run far away. I finished because I just can't quit a book but I wish I'd never found this series.
Very well written I love the storyline. From one book to the next it keeps you enthralled with the story of Therese and her family and friends. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is into fantasy adventure and strong women.
SPOILER ALERT! Seriously, there are very specific spoilers in here. This review is to be read by those who have finished the books, or those who don’t care about spoilers. You have been warned.
I enjoyed the books overall, but there are things about it that I didn’t like.
I enjoy a little romance in a story, but there was way too much in this series, and it was all over the place. The main characters couldn’t figure out who they wanted to be with, and there was some pretty graphic sexual related content. I get that there are people that like that stuff, but I’d prefer the graphic content be left out. (Like, was the sex scene with the skeleton REALLY necessary? And if it was, did we REALLY need the details of Donovan’s “seed” running down its leg?)
There were no deaths that really felt weighty. There were important characters who ended up dying, but it sort of felt like it was their time anyways. It didn’t carry any real emotional impact. Most of the ones whose deaths were actually somewhat emotional were either brought back, or were never really dead. I don’t want to say I like the deaths of characters I connect with, but there is a certain depth that is missing in a story when the good guys save the day with no real tragedy. The tragedy is real for the characters, but it is lacking for the reader, in my opinion. I never really felt connected to the characters that ended up truly dead. Fi is the exception, though I feel like her death was rushed, so it didn’t have as much of an impact as it could.
There are unanswered questions, and plot points that I felt were started and then abandoned. These are the only books I’ve read from Jensen, so maybe there are other books that explore these points? I’ll mention a few that really bothered me.
Sophia/Tressa’s cabin was protected by a spell after Tressa left Hutton’s Bridge, and Tressa was the only one who could open the door. That plot point is explored somewhat as if it is going to hold an important secret for the story, and then it is just forgotten. No one ever asks Sophia why it was protected, no one ever finds the other missing pages from the book, and in the midst of all that happened no one really seemed to care all that much. There was a brief section in a chapter where Bastian, Conner, and Tressa searched for something in the cabin, and then it was quickly wrapped up with another unnecessary sex scene with Tressa and Bastion. I don’t recall it being explored again after that, so it was basically a dead end plot point that didn’t even need to be included.
The honey. I don’t feel like the mystery of the honey was ever truly solved, if there even was a true mystery. There was an explanation of the honey having special properties because of the flowers that were in Hutton’s Bridge, but then Tressa saw those flowers in Desolation. It was believed that the honey was keeping Decarian locked between lands, but then it was suggested that that was another illusion from Donovan. The flowers clearly had special properties because of what they did to Connor, but I still don’t know if the honey was truly keeping Decarian trapped, or if that was all a lie from Donovan.
Bianca’s baby. Who was Bianca’s baby? The origin story for Donovan and Mestifito was about the dragon lady seducing Donovan because she needed him to impregnate her. Based on the story, she did get pregnant, and then turned Donovan into a dragon, but we are never told who the baby was. On top of that, where did Bianca come from? Was she the only dragon person, or where there others? Did she come from another land or realm? And why did Donovan suddenly become a super villain after she made him a dragon? Did he inherit the soul of some ancient evil? Were there truly gods and devils in the universe and he was given some curse/gift by them? Why did he have the ability to take Mestifitos dragon? Why did he gain complete control of Tressa and Fis dragon by drinking their blood, but they didn’t gain control of the dragons whose blood they drank?
The more questions I write down, the more questions I realize I have! I get that every story will have unanswered questions. That has potential to add to the mystery of the world. But it’s kind of overwhelming how many questions seem unanswered here.

Good characters, and an interesting news world. The series starts out reminding me of the movie "The Village". I was very intrigued at the start of the series and quickly got sucked in. Unfortunately I have to admit that this is not my favorite Dragon series. I really wish I could say otherwise. The books get a bit tangled in details and although the characters face horrors in their lives, the books become predictable that the characters always overcome these obstacles and survive against all odds. Characters die and are resurrected with ease as if the author began writing in one direction, changed her mind, and then resurrected them to change paths. Lastly, I think Jensen truly needs better editors to help guides her through her series. I think they did her a disservice in this series.
I hope to read her other works as she develops as a writer and see a vast improvement because the talent is there.
The "bones" of this story are really really good. While it won't be at the top of my list of recommendations to others, if someone were reading it, I'd still say I enjoyed it. I especially liked how she handled the "features" of the dragons. What I think could be better: 1. There needs to be balance between the battles and the romance. These books had more about the romantic relationships than I care for, and the characters had changes of heart that didn't "do it" for me. 2. The plots across the books were repetitive. 3. The detail on the battles improved in the last couple of books, but I'd like to have seen a bit more strategy, even if there is a twist at the end making it play out different than expected.
Bottom line, I read the entire series and will consider other books by this author.
The Dragonlands Omnibus is the complete collection of all of five of Megg Jensen’s Dragonlands novels. The entire series is so fast-paced that having all of them together in order is a great idea.
Hidden
The children of Hutton’s Bridge wake up one morning to discover that all their parents and other adults are missing, and their town is surrounded by impenetrable fog. Eighty years later the last of those children dies just before sending her great-granddaughter into the fog to hopefully discover how to lift it and free the townspeople from its tyranny. But the world Tressa and her friends Bastian and Connor find when they are able to make their way through the fog is worse in many ways. They encounter an evil ruler and work to defeat her. They encounter danger and treachery and are separated and changed. All is not as it seems.
This volume could be read as a stand-alone story, but you would be missing so much.
Hunted
Tressa meets dragons of all colors – yellow, green, red, and black. The yellow dragons do their best to torture her to death. Her father and the other adults of Hutton’s Bridge have been turned into red dragons and try to make her one of them. The green dragons she meets are children who help her escape from the yellow dragons. And the black dragons appear to help in the fight with the red dragons. Meanwhile, Bastian is healed of the wounds he received fighting Stacia, the evil ruler of the blue dragons and forms a connection with his healer. They find Connor in the cave where he has hidden the blue dragon eggs and try to protect the dragon eggs and the baby dragon that has hatched from one of them.
There is still more treachery in this episode, and though some things are explained, many more questions are uncovered. In this case, it is better to have read Hidden first, and you will definitely want to move on to Retribution to find out more.
Retribution
The dragon eggs are stolen. Tressa goes with the black dragon, Fi, to the Charred Barrens and is turned into a black dragon. Bastian, Connor, Elinor the healer, and Jarrett, Tressa’s friend from the Black Guard who has been helping her in her quests, journey to the Isle of Repose where they meet an evil creature known as The Keeper, who turns Jarrett into his thrall and uses him to try to destroy the dragons. He begins by destroying all but one of the blue dragon eggs.
There is a big dragon battle where the black and green dragons form an alliance to fight the red dragons. Jarrett attacks them all. Bastian is killed. Tressa stomps Jarrett, but he is still not definitely killed. Tressa takes off after the Red Queen to find out why she is attacking the other dragons. The Red Queen claims to have been looking for Tressa all along to be her heir and takes her to a deep dungeon beneath the Red Castle where there is a major demonic creature trying to break through from the land of Desolation beyond the mountains that border the Dragonlands. It turns out that the reason everybody has been so desperate for the honey from Hutton’s Bridge has to do with keeping this demon under control. They are on the verge of running out.
By this time the treachery and deceptions are at least hip deep. You don’t want to stop here.
Desolation
The mysterious gray-cloaked man named Donovan who has been appearing intermittently throughout the series steps forward and claims that if he can just take Fi to Desolation they can somehow defeat the demon Decarion and save the Dragonlands. Tressa insists on going along.
Donovan insists on draining blood from them so they can’t change into their dragons, promising them that when they return to the Dragonlands, all they have to do will be to drink some dragon blood in order to change back again. It is all a major hoax on his part. He gets Tressa to free the adults he lured out of Hutton’s Bridge eighty years ago and turned to stone. Just why is not clear, except that their cries have been irritating him. It turns out that they are now ghost dragons.
Somewhere in this adventure, Tressa turns back into a dragon again despite supposedly having lost that ability. When they set out to return to the Dragonlands, she cannot change back into her human form so she cannot fit into the portal they came from. Donovan takes Fi through the portal and suggests that Tressa try flying over the mountains. Tressa nearly dies trying.
Meanwhile, the green dragons pick up Bastian’s body off of the battlefield on the Isle of Repose and bring him back as a green dragon. They want him for their warlord.
At the same time, Decarion is just about to break through into the Dragonlands. But Connor thinks of a plan he thinks will get rid of him.
Nobody is out of the woods yet. Keep reading.
Reckoning
As Donovan comes nearer and nearer to unleashing his minions on the Dragonlands, Tressa tries to enlist the aid of all the dragon communities again. But they all want either to escape or to hide, or they have already been reduced to almost nothing. Just when she fears she will have to fight Donovan single-handed, she suddenly discovers the ancient Vulture’s Tower, which is magically hidden until they are desperately needed.
This is the final battle for the Dragonlands, and it will decide whether the dragons and their people will be able to live as free people, or whether the whole place will be forever in Donovan’s evil power.
Good tale of Dragon shifters and other creatures. A few misspellings but still a good story where a new world was created and interesting characters. Would have given this story a 5 star but I felt somethings were incomplete that were mentioned in the book Either way this is a good read and I recommend this book.
I found this a little slow and frankly boring. By this I fine it to be long winded, making you say to yourself, "Will you get on with it already"! I had to push myself to read these books and I would not read them again. Do I recommend them? No, unless you want to go to sleep!
I chose a 5 star rating because I could not put this series down. Absolutely enthralling. Loved every minute of it. Would recommend to anyone from young adult through to anyone who enjoys mystery and mythical beings.
This would have made for a decent YA story except for the sexual content. It didn't do much to further the story and was just enough that I wouldn't recomend this for teens.
Poor character development, questionable timeline. Crude lore reveal, feels like hearing a story from a kindergartener, where comes up with ridiculous measures just to support his argument.
I liked these books very much lots of adventure, lots of twists and turns! Great villains and absolutely wonderful heroes! Dragons aplenty some cruel and some good allies to the heroes!
HIDDEN I am enjoying this series so much! Within just a few chapters, I was hooked. The characters are fun to get to know and root for. The author has created a tale full of adventure and misadventures. The enemies are brutal and the fights are impossible. The environment is magical. I can't wait to read the next books!
HUNTED This series is really amazing. One of the most captivating and enthralling to date. As Tressa and Bastian continue in their quest for freedom, every new turn of events causes further despair; sometimes they even wonder whether they should have left the people of Hutton's Bridge inside the fog since it would have made things simpler. Though they are separated in their quest, their one goal is to find each other once more now that they have found freedom to be together. But with the people of Hutton's Bridge missing and the discovery of the true nature of dragons, their quest is far from over. They will meet new friends as well as make new enemies. The author has done a phenomenal job with the story of the Dragonlands. So many series these days begin to fall flat after the first book with too much repetition of similar scenarios but this one is fresh and creative. I can't wait to get started on book three.
RETRIBUTION The fight for freedom continues. As Connor, Bastian and Tressa go their separate ways, they will make new allies as well as new enemies. There are great mysteries hidden in the Dragonlands and few who know the truth. A war is beginning and Tressa is knee deep in the middle of it. The author continues to write a captivating tale of freedom. The main characters are believable and I found myself yelling at them to not so blindly trust their allies.
DESOLATION So many secrets! What I love most about this series is that you can't predict the journey. There are so many twists and turns and surprises along the way. It keeps you on your toes and always wondering what will happen. As the people of Hutton's Bridge fight for their freedom and seek to return to the days of simplicity, they find themselves fighting harder and harder for safety. New allies are met along the way, but that doesn't mean they are friends. Everyone has their own agenda and it makes you want to scream at the people of the Dragonlands to just work together. The author has truly written a fantastic series.
RECKONING I loved the ending to the book. It was definitely a little bit funky and though slightly predictable. There were some fun twists mixed in though. Tressa and company don't disappoint as they continue fighting for freedom and a chance to be live peacefully. Secrets are all revealed in this book. I was disappointed that certain key characters felt so dismissed near the end; I felt like more effort should have been spent on them considering the key role they had throughout the series. Overall, fun book and series.
I liked the world building, the different dragon cultures, and Fi and Jarrett, in spite of, well , you know, Spoilers!
The dialogue and travels to each realm was enough to keep me hooked. I had to know where they were going next.
Unfortunately, I found the entire series lacking in the following: 1. All of the fight scenes felt rushed with more telling than showing. 2. Scenes were sometimes jagged as the motions of the characters were left out. It was quite jarring that someone would be talking to someone in the inn and in the next paragraph are somehow talking to someone else in another building altogether. That was really annoying. 3. A cohesive back story explaining why there were five different cultures of dragon would have been very nice. That being missing left a huge hole for me. A prequel series could clear that up. Just an idea... 4. How did the dragons become so numerous? I can't explain why I ask this question without spoilers, so I won't. Again, prequel series could clear that up, too. 5. How did this magical realm actually work to have the Desolation to the east, and a previously unknown continent to the west? Did that western continent also have magical properties?
I could go on, but I won't. I was really expecting something truly epic because of the reviews and the fact that its listed that she is a USA Today Bestseller.
I might try more of her novels in the future. We'll see.
The world itself, seemingly small as the UK, piqued my interest. The underlying issues of the world, even more. However, the focus on the insatiable vanilla sexuality of a few young adults with unbelievable, unjustified skills, who were always in the right (or wrong) place at the right time? Not so much.
The world Jensen created is interesting, but the way it operates makes no sense, and she left it unexplained. For starters, the all important thing in her books is how stupidly horny everyone is. Before reading, know that you are reading a series of vanilla sexuality. Horny young adults, horny god-like mages, and horny dragons. On top of insatiable horniness, the characters are incredibly dim, except when it is fitting for them to have sudden, unreasonably justified mental superiority. As for the world, just know that it is simultaneously as small as Rhode Island and as large as the entire United States. A single day’s travel on horseback can get one person across grasslands, but take another a full day by dragon flight. There is no life outside this small land that somehow has deserts, forests, mountains, and grasslands? Oh wait, it is just a single day by flight or boat. Yeah . . . get that?
An intriguing series full of action and adventure. Great character interaction and an action packed plot. Although there is a few areas that are slow, mostly this is a fast-paced story.
I found myself rooting for Tressa, Bastian, and Connor as they struck out through the fog. There choice to continue the tradition of traveling through the fog leads them all on perilous journeys to find and combat the evil that is plaguing Dragon Land.
This is one series I would highly recommend to all. My only regret is that there will not be another book in this series.
