Sigh. I saw some of this story coming and was hoping it wouldn't go this way. I adore Kamala and am always sorry to see her go through trials, although I continue to find her approach to them to be refreshing and delightful.
Yesterday was a killer day. Brand new Star Wars trailer, new Ms. Marvel and more stories from the Fated Blades series.
So, Kamala's got a crush who just happens to be the kind of young man her traditionalist family approves of...or is he? I feel really bad for her best friend and sidekick Bruno, who also has feelings for Kamala. The conversation between Bruno and Kamala's brother was poignant but also true to life (even if I think Bruno is the better man and just as capable of being understanding of the importance of immigrant culture).
Well it's kinda disappointing that Kamran was shady but it was a distinct possibility. But, Kamala continues to be absolutely endearing and Bruno's scenes still prove to be well done. Such a fan of this series' writing. c: c: c:
In this issue we see Kamala once again with an old friend who seems a little too good to be true. Turns out he is. After getting Kamala to sneak out at night and then lying to her about where he's driving her we see more of what is really going on. It seems a new enemy may have showed up on the playing field and he's got other Inhumana working with him.
Also there's a very nice scene between Bruno and Amir about culture and relationships. I feel bad for Bruno but I also have to say that the scene was handled very well.
A great issue and I can't wait to see where this story arc leads.
I'm not a big fan of middle issues by themselves of a story arc: just get on with it! Or maybe I need to save up single issue comics when part of a series like this so I can enjoy them all at once. (5 seconds later: verdict, unlikely. I just like Ms. Marvel that much).
Still, a very good issue.
(Also, why did I say I'd review everything I read this year on Goodreads the same time I started getting into single issue comics? Poor life choice on my part? or the best? hard to say.)
Sadly, some of the stuff that I was hoping wouldn't come true did in this comic. Hoping that they don't go down through the land of tropes with it. I was really hoping that Kamran's introduction wasn't going to head this way, but it looks like it will. Other than that, good comic. It is the start of Kamala's new adventure and we shall what happens next with the Inhumans that do not want anything to do with Medusa in the Magneto-reminiscent group.
Somewhere Wolverine is coming back to life to rally all his former teenage girl mentees while Queen Medusa is rallying her Attilan citizens to teach this fool a lesson about breaking Kamala's heart.
I knew that guy was gonna be an ass. I was hoping for Kamala's sake that my instincts was wrong bc girl deserves a break. Unfortunately not :(( Also the ending!!! I need the next issue now!!!

Okay, I take back what I said with the last issue, I don’t like the new dude anymore. Bruno was very wholesome in this issue though. I really love him. I also loved Kamala actually picking up on sketch vibes herself and that she wasn’t naive because she had a crush. We’re also still setting up this story arc and I’m excited to learn more.
I'll take the fact that Aamir has more page space and story... and the dialogue he has with Bruno. :') I don't know why, in my head Bruno was always Brazilian or Portuguese, so a shock for me to find out he's Italian. :)
Can't wait to see how Kamala goes out of all this.
I'm really disappointed with this series. This is one of the slowest moving stories I have ever read. The whole chapter is a filler and the action only begins toward the end, leaving you on a cliffhanger. This got boring after so long. I have read this chapter soon after it was published, and I decided to stop following this series finally. This is especially sad for me since it is what hooked me with comics to begin with. But sometimes you have to let go. I may grab another chapter in the future to see how things would have gone.
