Naomi Hollis expected to come back home for food, family, and an escape from her loneliness in New York. But unfinished business is in the form of a handsome and passionate man who knows her body and her heart better than anyone, awaits her.
Bakari Ali never stopped loving Naomi. And with her returning home, he has one weekend to show her that her home is exactly where it's always been. With him…
Dominique Black continues to knock it out of the park for me! I absolutely loved this story. Bakari and Naomi’s love really jumped off the page. While the reason for their breakup made sense, I do think Naomi acted a little too much on emotion given their lengthy history and she should have given Bakari a chance to fix it. At any rate, that time apart was exactly what they both needed to realize they were endgame.
And Bakari wasn’t playing ANY games! He wanted his woman back and wasn’t taking no for an answer. Not that Naomi put up much of a fight. 🤣
My only complaints are that, as a couple, they were sweet…but sometimes a little TOO sweet. The constant “love of my life/my world/queen/love you more” got to be just a bit much after a while. I also wish a little more time had been spent on them discussing how they were going to make things work this time around. They reconnected and picked up right where they left off, which I didn’t mind, but an on-page conversation about what would be different moving forward would’ve made their reunion feel more satisfying.
Overall, this was such a sweet holiday novella! I loved Bakari and Naomi, enjoyed their family dynamic, and thought this was the perfect read when you’re in the mood for a nice palate cleanser.
This book wasn’t bad, but it definitely had the potential to be a sweet second chance Thanksgiving romance. Unfortunately, the heavy emphasis on the erotic scenes took away from the story for me. They were drawn out, became repetitive, and eventually started to bore me. i would’ve loved to see more time spent developing the characters, rebuilding their connection, and fleshing out the story. A stronger epilogue would’ve also helped bring everything together. Overall, it was a decent read, and I’d still recommend it, especially if you enjoy a little extra spice with your romance. The potential was there. The execution? Ehhhh. It just needed a little more story and a little less sex for me.
Man listen I saw erotic and thought it was just gonna be a lot of that with minimal story but baby this thing got emotional! I love how there wasn’t any running after the initial break, they knew they were it for each other and they made it work. Baby Bakari was Mr.Yearner, he let any and everyone know he needed his woman and he wasn’t stopping until he had her. I thought I’d be left with questions but I wasn’t bc there were several conversations even at the end that explained how they’d work it out and I appreciate that 🥹.
Sometimes making a decision to break up is not always easy. This story was warm and heartfelt. Bakari knew what he needed to do to get his girl back and even though she felt like an obligation walking away was best.. but if you are truly meant to be you will! The love from both sides of the family was awesome and I love seeing black love! And stuffed her plenty of times to remind her who she belongs too. This was a good read!
This novella was everything I needed it to be! There was yearning, passion, desire, love, support…Omi and Bakari made me fall in love with not just their story, but their desire to embrace love even after heartbreak. The pacing of this novella was right on par with the emotions that I experienced as a reader. Thr rhythm of the story blended beautifully with the characters’ journeys back to each other. I have a new fave and I can’t wait to put my girls onto it!
BAKARI IS PAPA FOR REAL 😮💨😮💨😮💨🪭🪭🪭‼️‼️‼️. That man was not playing about Naomi, his Queen and he made sure that she understood that. Distance and time really put a lot into perspective for the both of them. The whole time I was reading this, I was wrapped up in them. I LOVED THE ENDINGGGGG!!! I just loved the whole book overall! I feel like I’m going to do a reread soon just because!
