Nina Fischman has dated plenty of lifes losers, but she has always steered clear of actual crazed killers. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of Nina's friend Susan, whose habit of making bad choices in the Man Department has turned deadly. Unfortunately, Susan left few clues about her final, fatal all Nina knows about him is that he wears contact lenses, likes to hike, and reads the New York magazine personals column. To catch the killer, the cops agree to provide back-up while Nina supplies the bait, in the form of a hike-happy personals ad.
New York attorney Marissa Piesman (Assistant New York State Attorney General) writes the popular Nina Fischman series and is also co-author of The Yuppie Handbook (1984).
Enjoyed the first Nina Fischman mystery, this one - not so much. The same NY ethic and street flavors are familiar and funny but the aging, independent female not so now. And Nina seems to show little grief at the murder of her closest friend. Odd.
This series is highly enjoyable because it includes lots of real details from the lives of NYC single women attorneys, which I have been myself. It's also a mystery in the crime sense, lwhich is not like my life. Lots of fun.
