Heartbroken but not alone, Denny Silver finds her body overtaken by an ancient force so powerful she risks losing herself completely to its dangerous agenda. As if hunting and killing demons wasn’t hard enough, now the demons are after an innocent, young girl whose Wiccan womb seems the perfect incubator for their hell spawn. Like Denny can just stand back and let that happen.

She can barely control herself or her demon these days, so how in the hell is she supposed to protect the world? Add to all this the fact that her brother now faces the death penalty for a crime he didn’t commit, her mother is a vegetable, and her little sister has been removed from her protection, and—yeah—it’s been one hell of a fucked up year for Denny.

Desperate, she seeks help from the last place she expected to look: the local coven. She knows their help comes with a price tag. Will it be too high to pay? Can they help her level the playing field in a supernatural world bent on destroying all she holds dear? Find out as Denny and her merry band of supernatural rejects attempt to save Savannah from certain doom in Demon Within.

There were so many moments where I wanted to scream at Denny, but at the same time I have really enjoyed watching her grow. Her adventures and relationships truly make this book amazing.

Golden goes to a dark place in this one. She stopped living, only hunting and feeding the demon within. Iris was just the wake up call she needed. I don’t like this new person in Bri’s life. Could she be a succubi? Ames said they were harder to feel and I find the timing of her arrival odd. I was so very ecstatic when Rush reappeared in Denny’s life. I’m holding out hope that Rush and Denny can find a way to be together again. I’m mean there are demons, ghosts, witches and deities that walk on water, who’s to say that somewhere out there isn’t a way to make a ghost fleshy again. On to the next book.

A Solid 4 star book. Still love Golden - great character and some of the supporting characters are improving. Just lacks that indefinable little bit extra that would give it a 5 star rating
Must be good - I have already gotten the last in the series loaded on the Kindle!

Excellent

Excellent reading, lovely movements and vivid scenes. Like the cowardly lion king said "I do believe in ghost, I do, I do, I do believe in ghost".

Witches and demons. Yeah, that too. Haha. Good reading and happy hunting.

After a fairly positive book 1 I was surprised by the darkness this book started with. But I think it needed it - it felt real, true to what the character would be going through, and I think she also needed it. Really like this book and immediately bought book 3 once finished!

****Actual rating 3.5 stars. Originally posted here on my blog. May contain spoilers******

I really liked reading this book this month. From start to finish, I kept feeling like I was reading an almost retelling of Buffy The Vampire Slayer or at least a story/universe similar to hers. The darker scene equally paired with surprising bouts of humor and sarcasm. The nightlife in which Denny could “stalk” or be “stalked” by things that went bump in the night. The tingling sensation she got whenever there was a demon near by? Witches and ghosts as girlfriends? The older trainer/watcher-type looking out for her? Dropping out of school to focus on her demon hunting duties?? Total Buffy-verse.

However, I must admit that my rating of this book is largely connected to my lack of knowledge of the first book as this book was sent to me as a review copy. For instance, I actually liked it when the character Rush wasn’t around. Although a bit lost and a little wild, Denny seemed to be in her element and I liked that she was seeing other (and actual) people.

Another thing that bother me while reading this book was the pacing in regards to the truth behind Denny’s brother, Quick when in actuality focal point throughout the book was connected to Denny, her Hanta and its connection to her family. Besides the fighting scenes in which Denny let her Hanta out, I really enjoyed the insight that Denny and the reader gets with each of her mother’s journal entries.

Denny has the opportunity to learn about her “new self” as well as get a chance to see how her mother handled the gift/responsibility and see that even without her presence, Denny can still feel close/connected to her. This book had a lot of great characters and a great narrative that was easy to follow (even without prior knowledge of details from the first book) but I do think I should go back and read the first book, before I continue onto the third book in this series, Blood Of The Demon.

If you love Buffy, love demon hunters, witches, or better yet, already a fan of the Silver Legacy series, than I would definitely recommend this book to you.

Picking up three weeks later, Demon Within finds Denny as a shell of herself. She has no girlfriend, she's dropped out of school, she sent her younger sister to live in California, she's stopped eating and sleeping, and cut everyone she cared about out of her life. All she does is kill demons and it's taking its toll. After a woman she refused to help winds up in the hospital, Denny finally starts coming around. She realizes that she's not meant to just kill low-level demons. She needs to protect those that demons would harm.

Demon Within is a great sequel! No second book syndrome here! Denny is actually getting stuff done and being a badass while doing it! Once she's back on track with her training, eating, and sleeping, Denny starts really working on her brother's case. He's obviously innocent, she's going to prove it, and start putting her family back together. There's quite a few interesting reveals involving that. Some people truly are scum, although Denny doesn't exactly take the high road all of the time either.

Denny also learns a lot more about her own demon, and by extension, her mother's catatonic state. Of course, knowing what may have caused it is just the first step in figuring out how to fix it. It was quite exciting getting to see Denny become one with her demon. It has saved her life on a few occasions, but she still runs the risk of it totally taking over her life. She needs to find that balance.

I really enjoyed Demon Within. I think it was even better than the first book! This world of demons is very interesting and I'm loving learning more about it through Denny's mother's journals as well as some of the other texts that are kept in the lair. Now with one of Denny's family members freed, it's time to focus on the other!

Book two of Alex Westmore's 'Silver Legacy Series'.

Denny 'Golden' Silver is a demon legacy hunter. In this instalment we find Denny in a dark place. Intent on killing every demon she can find, Denny sets out every night to hunt. Her demon is nearly uncontrollable as she is on a rampage that is causing her to slip into an oblivion where her demon is going to take complete control of her if she doesn't get help. She has neglected her family, her friends, dropped out of college and stopped her training. What she doesn't realise is that her killing all the low level demons that she is going after is like feeding her Hanta junk food.

In stilling the help of a top detective she seeks to uncover the truth behind her brother, 'Quick' Silver's incarceration and impending death penalty for a murder he did not commit. Will she also uncover the truth behind the reason for her mothers vegetative state? To do all this she will have to delve back in to her mothers lair, her lair now, and study, study, study the history of her demon legacy. We are in for a ride with intensity, a lot of soul searching and demon slaying!

Alex Westmore has again thrilled us with this second instalment of 'The Silver Legacy Series' with her quick wit and sarcastic humour that seems to fit Denny's character so well. The story follows on well from the first novel and when I picked it up months (and quite a few novels) after reading 'Darkness Descends' I was able to pick up right where I left off with the first novel due to Alex's attention to detail and ability to draw the reader in to the story. Well don Alex, another 5 star effort!

*****I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*****

Are you new to this game? Here's a brief recap:
"Hanta Raya, as Denny (the Demon hunter) had discovered three weeks ago, was said to be the master of all spirits. This particular demon feasted on the spirits of other demons, of darker demons. The darker the better, and it was Denny’s job to keep it fed. Over the centuries, the Hanta/ host relationship was one of symbiosis... mutual need."
Sounds pretty awesome right? Now add in some @$$ kicking Wiccan Witches, a brainiac friend that never waivers, some muscle-y human friends that are there for whatever may come, an ex-demon hunting/bad ass Yoda like trainer that seems to have all of the answers/moves and weapon know-how as well as a huge cast of Demon bad guys and even a Demon Prince. Sounds even better right?
Well there's more. The recap of what took place in the last book was very enlightening without being too boring for those of us who went into this book straight from book #1. The writing is snarky and fun, the characters are well developed, the action is not as fast and furious as it was in the last book but it is definitely not boring and there are some Sexy Time scenes (lesbian in nature) that make the Demon busting goodness even better. This series is good fun and I highly recommend it to those looking for some guilty pleasure brain candy.

What a great continuation of the Sliver Legacy Series. This is book 2 of the series and can not be read as a stand alone.

This book takes place immediately after the ending of book 1 and does not have a complete HEA. Yes you could stop here and have a happy ending, but it is not the end of the complete story so I would recommend that we keep reading. (Looking forward to book 3)

Denny is learning how to control her Hanta Raya. She is also learning more about her mother and what happened to her many years ago. We are taken on a journey of Denny's personal growth and her learning to accept that she can not do it all alone.

This story is well written. The characters are easy to become engaged with, their dialogue flows well and is engaging and the descriptions to details are done nicely where they are easy to visualize and are entertaining.

All in all, another great ready by Alex Westmore and I can not wait to read more!

So....

Would I recommend this book? Yes! But you have to start with book 1 first...do not start on book 2.

Would I read more from this author? Absolutely!

Alex Westmore did a great job with this book, I am at a disadvantage because I started with this book first (the 2nd in the series) so there are questions I have as to some of the characters and back story, which I believe will be answered once I go back and read the first book. This follows Golden "Denny" Silver, a legacy demon hunter. She is possessed by a demon that helps her hunt other demons. Her mother is catatonic after an accident and her brother convicted of murder. Her friends and family are in danger so she isolates herself from them and does nothing but hunt, to the point she is starting to waste away. She comes to find out that there is a war going on and her family seems to be the focal point, along with a new acquaintance that is being hunted by a Magyr. Will Denny pull out of her slump and rejoin the "living" so to speak, or will she continue down the path and completely waste away and allow the demons to win? The writing is tremendous. It keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next, what kind of demon will pop up next and if she will win.

Golden Silver aka Denny is having one hell of a month. Finding out recently she hosts an ancient demon and is supposed to be a demon hunter was not how she planned her life. The second book in this series is filled with some deep soul searching and and an amazing amount of personal growth. Allowing her grief and anger to control her she has lost sight of who she is and in an attempt to protect those she cares about she has pushed everyone away. Life is not always easy and Denny faces evil everyday, Choices have to be made, mistakes happen and knowledge is power. This was a great storyline filled with danger, action, drama, friendship and interesting characters. The witty dialogue between the characters will make you smile. The details and descriptions of what is going on makes you feel as if you are right there in the middle of the action. Ms. Westmore did a great job creating a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat anxiously awaiting what is going to happen next. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Alex Westmore continues to craft a wonderfully entertaining story with the Demon Within.
In book two of The Silver Legacy Series, Golden Silver continues to grow into her own as one bad assed demon hunter. This time Denny is forced to reconcile the person she is with the demon residing inside her. We are taken on a journey as Denny descends into a world of darkness and solitude. As she drifts farther from her friends and family she allows her Hanta to gain more control. But as Denny learns, you can’t take on life’s demons alone and expect to win.
The second in the series is a very worthy follow up to Darkness Descends and an incredibly satisfying read. I for one can’t wait for the next installment in the series, Blood of the Demon.

Demon Within was the second book in the Silver Legacy and just as good as if not better than the first. I love these books! They are so full of adventure that I can not put them down. This book does some deep soul searching and shows the importance of great friends. And Denny is just a great character as well. I can't wait for more!

Denny has taken over her mother's profession of being a demon hunter, but not just any demon hunter, a legacy. She is possessed by a demon, or Hanta, that enables her to kill other demons. She is struggling with this revelation, and turns away from everyone in her life that means something to her. She has to gain control of her Hanta in order to get her life back on track, but is it really worth it?

Adventure, blood and gore with a little romance thrown in for good measure.
Golden is still at it. Cutting up herself deeper than anyone, all the while trying to control the demon within and her weapons. She had let her demon play havoc in live and control her almost to the point of no return. When another tragic almost ending happens. She wakes up and asks for help. But will she be able to get back the reins from her demon? Will she be able to set her brother free? And why won't the big guy in charge of wrecking havoc in her come face her demon to Hunter?

Too much pretext not enough action. Generally this series is about how the main character doesn't listen to anyone because she think she is so badass, its very annoying and sometimes just hard to read. Honestly these books could have been cut down to one book with a more developed plot line. I just find this story to be a basic hero story with a slit twist but no nuances that could come with having a queer main character.

This book was awesome. I can't wait for the next one already. I'm looking forward to seeing where the relationship between Denny and Brianna goes ( I'm rooting for them to be together. I believe those 2 would be kick ass together. ) The more answers you get the more you want to know. I would recommend this book to everyone.
