In Pumpkins County, monster attacks are a common enough occurrence, but when Jarvis is attacked by an invisible monster, the Creeps know they’ve found their next case. Through Mitchell’s extensive monster expertise, the gang identifies the a Troll. Unfortunately, Trolls travel in packs. They hibernate together, and they feast on humans together. The tastiest type of human? Those who have been marinating in their own stress hormones. And there’s an awful lot of stress to go around these days, what with the town’s gossip site spewing out nonstop misinformation and alarmist messages. Could the Trolls be behind the county-wide breakdown in communication? With the town’s anxiety levels soaring off the charts, it’s up to the Creeps to find out—before the Trolls’ big feast. This hilarious graphic-novel series celebrates the power of underdogs and the importance of finding your tribe—even if your tribe is weird and just, well . . . creepy.
I am loving this series!! It is so cute and I love all the characters. I love that along with the mystery that it puts a warning message about something to beware of in the real life and times. Such fun colors and illustrations.
I liked this book because it was kind of like a comic and I like those books and also I like the characters. The best part in the story was when they were driving the boat and they drove it onto the land! I like the pictures where the boat was flying the best!
This is the second graphic novel in "The Creeps" series. In Pumpkin County, The Creeps are looking for monsters to get rid of. When Earnest and Mary stumble upon a terribly stinky place, they spray it with body spray and both of them get attacked and disappear. The rest of the group tires to help them and Jarvis ends up being attacked by what they figure out is an invisible troll. Trolls feast on humans that are stressed out and with what is happening in Pumpkins county, there are a lot of stressed out people. The Creeps want to get rid of the trolls before anyone else is attacked, but they do not want to kill them. While doing research, they find out that Jock Brogglin wrote the book they are using. with information from Brogglin, they are eventually able to see the uglies, smelliest troll, who comes after them for spraying him. The chase is on and again with Brogglin's help and lots of close calls they find the troll colony. Can the Creeps save Pumpkins County. I did not really enjoy this graphic novel, but I think older children (9 to 14) would find it humourous, especially the boys.
I received a copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Carol, Mitchell, Rosario, and Jarvis are the Creeps: a group of friends dedicated to investigating the monster attacks and unnatural occurrences that plague their home of Pumpkins County, even if no one else in the community acknowledges these dangers or the ensuing property damage. The second volume of Chris Schweizer’s middle grade horror series takes place outdoors, validating your concern that invisible monsters are out to get you, even when you’re trying to work on on a school project. The art is brighter, zanier, and more explosive than before, and it’s a joy to see the Creeps running around their extended community. Even when they’re being pursued by a monstrous beast who smells like garbage.
This is a weird story about Trolls. It's also weird because I hate the way all the main characters are drawn. I don't particular like them at all either, but somehow the story and storytelling grew on me. I think he's a master storyteller. I hate that it felt a little Nickelodeon, but that is the audience I saw. It had it's somewhat surprising violence, but it's never actually displayed. People die here and there is a danger which I find the way the cover is designed and probably the way it is promoted would seem like a more childish audience, but it was good enough for me. The art was good even though I hate the character designs like I said. His sense of movement from one panel to another is pretty amazing. It's another weird graphic novel with not all the pieces put together right, but something in it just grew on me. I will track down the author's other stories.
The Trolls Will Feast is the second graphic novel about The Creeps and their new case of trolls. When trolls begin to try snacking on humans it's up to The Creeps to investigate and put a stop to it! This wasn't my kind of book but I think young boys and girls will enjoy the cartoon style art and the variety of monsters and quirky characters.
Not as good as the first book in the series, but still enjoyable. Considering the level of audience that this book seems aimed at, it seems a little off to have minor characters die quite violently just barely offscreen in the opening and closing sequences. The core group of protagonists is an appealing mix of oddballs though and the story is loaded with action and humor.
Having not read the first one, this isn't necessarily a fair review, but I tried to pick up on clues and understanding for this second book in the series having not read the first one, but there's just too much visually happening on each page for me to enjoy the graphic novel, though the characters seem well-developed with some humor to sprinkle.
