Welcome, dear reader, to my author page! I hope you enjoy reading mash ups and a touch of speculative fiction as much as I do. I'm not afraid of pushing boundaries. As such, sometimes my stories don't always fit in neat little industry boxes. I can promise fun, thrilling, interesting characters and HEA in my romances. I like to torture my characters and make them earn their HEA though, so be ready for some angst, pain, tears and cliff-hangers. If that's your style, please read on.

I've loved writing almost as long as I've loved reading. Stories in my mind burn to be told. I enjoy writing different genres and mixing genres, but my favorites are science fiction and fantasy with romance because who doesn't want romance in their life? I also write paramedic fiction based on my life experiences, and I'm a military veteran so I enjoy adding strong female and male characters to my stories.

I expected to enjoy this story; I didn't expect that it would bring out such strong emotions in me.
I spoke to Jacqueline Patricks a few weeks ago, and she warned me that she wrote a book that was real to the way guys think an act. She should know. She worked as a paramedic for over twenty years with a predominantly male workforce that let everything fly. All I can say, if this is how young adult males think and act, I'm moving to the Amazon Island like on Wonder Woman .

To be fair, the guys and the girls both had their faults. I'll start with the guys.

Mike-overly jealous and stupid. You fought with Amanda over some of the dumbest things. You're always talking about the bro code, but you drop Jay like a hot potato when you want to spend time with Amanda. Dude, don't drop your friends when you get a girlfriend.

Jay-When you're not lusting over your best friend's girlfriend, you're just trying to get laid without any emotional attachments.

Amanda-The whole time with Amanda, I kept hearing the song She's Kinda Hot by Five seconds of Summer. She's got a gorgeous body and long legs. And she's smart; she got accepted to med school. But other than making snarky comments to Jay, that seems to be her only purpose. She's kinda hot, though.

Tiffany-The one character in the story I truly liked. She was truly kind, and it hurt to see her beg for little crumbs of attention from Jay just so he could get laid. Girl, you are so much better than that.

It was a great story with infuriating characters and I really didn't expect things to turn out the way they did. I do have to agree with Jay at the end. "...for some reason, (she) fell in love with me too. Still haven't figured out why, and I'm hoping she doesn't either."

"The pace and detail of this novella were excellent. As with all novellas, we didn’t have the level of depth that you would get in a longer read, but I thought the level of depth the author gave us was brilliant. Overall, this was a fantastic novella. I am very much looking forward to reading more from this author and particularly more about this three! I highly recommend giving this read a go."

The Bro Code: A Novella by Jacqueline Patricks is very interesting take on how the guys are like. We read books all the time about the women, but what do guys think? I am a mother of four grown sons and I can see this happening with the college age men. I am pretty sure my boys have a “bro code” I have heard them mentioning it. So it is a real thing, ok on to this story, I thought that the writer did a great job, I wanted to read the whole book. I wasn’t bored, I loved how Jay is trying to figure it all out, loved his parents. Mike is awesome as well, not as developed as Jay, these two “Bro’s” try to live by the code and of course there are the women. There are two in the story, and of course they both like the same one, oh so typical, this happens to women as well, like the same guy.
Knowing how guys are they can never stay mad forever, as for girls, yes we can stay mad forever. This is a really fun read to read, it is quick and takes you right through a story. The ending works as well. I hope that Jacqueline Patricks continues this story, I would love to see how life is for these two after college.
I did received this book in an exchange for an honest opinion

An amusing novella about a couple of frat boys growing up during their last year of college... Through the first half I wondered if they would really grow up or just keep on guzzling the beer and trying to hook up. (Because, you know, college is just like high school, only with more beer and less supervision...) As always Ms Patrick's writing is very good, flows well, and she really gets inside the heads of her characters. There are some excellent moments in here that really made me smile... or cringe... LOL.

I think this was a pretty average book. There aren't many plot twists and the story wasn't strikingly different but what the book did have was great writing. You can believe the story and understand how the characters are feeling. Pretty relatable.

A story that has been too rushed to be credible
