When Mr. Right is oh so wrong I'll never let you go . . . Allina had always dreamed of hearing those words. But when her fiance, Isaac, utters them, it isn't a promise-it's a threat. Scared and confused, with only moments before the wedding, Allina knows what she must do. Forget walking down the aisle; it's time to run. Back to Michigan. Back to Kent. Kent has loved Allina for longer than he can remember. Out of respect for their friendship, he's never crossed the line, but when she turns up on his doorstep wearing her torn, tearstained wedding gown, the fire inside him ignites. He'll do whatever it takes to make Allina feel safe-like the beautiful, desirable woman she is. But as Kent and Allina grow closer, and their passion pushes deeper, it's clear that something bigger than a botched wedding still lingers between them . . .
Born and raised in Southeast Michigan near Ann Arbor, Elle learned the importance of reading from her mother. It was also her mother who, later on in her life, gave Elle her first romance novel: Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. From that moment on, Elle became a fan of Ms. Jenkins for life and a lover of all things romance. An old journal she wrote back in college became her first book (which she still wants to publish one day).
All Allina has ever wanted is to be happy. For her happiness entails marrying the man of her dreams and having a family. Her Kind of Man is that age old story of good girl, bad choice-danger zone. I received a copy of Elle Wright's latest novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I want to say that Allina was naive but I don't think that was the case. She ignored her instincts because she wanted to prove a point. Trying to forget one man she settled for another with a dark side. Ms. Wright's suspenseful, story takes a look at both the ugly side of so called love and the power of self-sacrificing love. It's okay to follow the heart but don't allow it to control your life. Her Kind of Man by Elle Wright is a novel that has something powerful to say.
I really enjoyed this entire series. Loved the way Kent supported his family even when "Den" didn't deserve it. However, I was disappointed that Kent didn't go after Allina and stop the wedding. Nevertheless, Kent really stepped up to the plate when Allina needed to escape from that psychopath who preached the word on Sunday and terrorized women the rest of the week. Lots of action in this one! (e-book edition).
Allina is preparing to marry a pastor completely unaware of the checkered past he’s been hiding. On her wedding day, she overhears something that changes everything, turning her into a runaway bride who seeks refuge with her friend Kent, the one person who never supported the marriage in the first place. As Allina and Kent spend time together in close proximity, the feelings they’ve both been suppressing come to the surface, revealing that their connection goes far beyond friendship. I enjoyed the suspense surrounding the ex-fiancé and how it added tension to the story. In the end, Kent got his girl, Allina found her man, and she learned to choose faith over fear.
Her Kind of Man is the third installment in the Edge of Scandal series by Elle Wright. After spending a few months with her friend Sydney after the birth of her daughter, Allina Parker decided it was time for her to go home. The problem was she did not want to go back to Ohio. Allina wanted to remain in Michigan. Waiting for her in Ohio was her finance`, Minister Isaac Hunter, and a storybook wedding. But Allina was not happy. As she prepared to walk down the aisle, she overheard the minister and a woman. Confused and scared... Allina decided to run. With nowhere to go, she ran to the one person she knew would protect her – Kent Smith.
From the first word to the very last, you are guaranteed to hold your breath. Wright takes readers on a journey of self-discovery, realization, strength and love. The main characters, Allina and Kent, have always been friend but together they could be more. In order for them to move forward, they had to face a few demons from their past and the one Allina left at the altar. This was the first book I’ve read by Wright. After reading this novel, I quickly picked up her other novels. Fans of Wright definitely will not be disappointed.
Allina Parker best friend of Sydney and Cali continuation of "the Edge of Scandal Series" finds herself in a unpredictable situation. As she is about to walk down the aisle of her dream day overhears a desperate conversation with her groom to be that changes her life.
As a runaway bride she frantically runs into the arms of her long-time friend Kent Smith, tear-stained a torn-stain wedding dress. Her groom the devious Minister Isaac Hunter gives her the ultimate threat "I'll never let you go!" Minister Hunter has past secrets and a life time of past deceit and other unscrupulous issues.
Kent Smith is every woman's dream and was a faded dream of Allina's from High School. Kent, is "foine," successful, kind and compassionate but rough and tough! He comes to the rescue of the woman he believes is the one but due to his emotional baggage, well you know finds much more than he bargained for in falling for Allina. However, he is a true friend, do or die to the end.
Elle Wright is the truth in this triology. This novel was excellent, suspenseful, mysterious, sensual, tantalizing and riveting. A true page turner and excellent story-line.
This book had a great premise and intrigued me as soon as I read the synopsis. I just wish the delivery would of been a bit more. Her Kind Of Man is a friends to lover romance. It's full of self discovery and fighting the demons of their past. The story kinda has a Runaway Bride feel to it. I think Elle is a good writer but the story is not for me. I do think others will enjoy this one that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. I didn't connect to the characters but others might. Give this a shot if you think it sounds like your kinda book.
I was really looking forward to this story, I got to learn more about The couple ,boy did this story get interesting. I felt this book was missing something ,and it lacked the flow of the first two books. Even though this couple loved exact other , I felt like the connection wasn't there, and the storyline was a little out there. I would like to see what happens with Den next, I hope he gets a book too.
I enjoyed reading this story about Kent and Allina, you were able to learn a lot about Kent and Allina past. It also lets you know that starting a relationship as friends could eventually turn into a loving relationship. I definitely recommend this book.
These set of friends always give me a laugh. Mrs Wright always takes me through a rollercoaster of emotions & I love it. I could feel the love radiate from the pages. And those hot, sensual love scenes brought on hot flashes! Lol!
So Ms. Elle Wright became one of my favorites real fast. I love the easy way she creates passion and chemistry, the love story is always pretty near perfect. Allina is sweet, but strong, and Kent is gentle and protective. This story had drama in a different way than the other ones in this series, and it almost felt like too much, but it balanced after a while. Allina running away from a manipulative man and seeking solace in the arms of the man she really loved was the romance I needed on a lazy Sunday. She's inexperienced, so she and Kent were a bit of a slow burn, but I love that once they went there, they really went there. Hotter than July. It was great.
Their friend group is something I love as well. Having that community centers you, makes everything better. Sometimes the way the author describes them as "honest without caring about your feelings," and "pulling no punches," with each other is kind of cringey just because I don't think you're allowed to be brutal to someone because they're your friend. In fact I think the love and the bond should be the reason you care about what you say to them, but that's just a personal preference. It's a great read.
Romance with a little suspense. I really enjoyed this book and the two prior books. I love the bond between the friends. Everyone should have a crew like this.
I loved Allina’s quirkiness and Kent’s sense of humor. Their lovemaking was hot! The connection between them was made better because of their long friendship.
The storyline with Isaac did a good job showing how some women can find themselves in abusive relationships by not recognizing the warning signs. The continued storyline of Caden and Sydney also, showed the strain of mental abuse in a relationship (past and present).
I also liked the way the author handled Caden’s mental illness; showing the daily struggle just to maintain a semblance of normalcy.
I won this book through Goodreads Giveaways. I loved it from beginning to end. The characters were well developed and so was the story. I found myself not wanting to put this one down. Even though this was book 3 in the series and I hand't read the first two I was able to read without any problems. The book covered some of the back story on the other characters. Kent and Allina make you fall in love with them. They both have past that are holding them back and both don't know if the other loves them. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Kent and Allina had been in love with each other for years. All of their friends new it and so did they but for different reasons they never acknowledged it or acted on it. A failed wedding day, a crazy ex fiance making threats leads her to him and brings an acknowledgement of their feelings for each other. It was great seeing all 6 friends in the Edge of Scandal series find their happily ever after. Next I will read about Did and Morgan's wedding and then on to another amazing series from Elle Wright.
The author had me cheering, crying, clapping, jumping up and down, wishing and cheering again! While reading the book my emotional experience went from zero to 90 and back. I enjoyed, "The Forbidden Man" and loved "His All Night" but, Allina and Kent characters were the best! The author saved the best for last. Keep writing young lady. Too many themes to write but I encourage everyone to read the series.
I absolutely love this book! I loved the development of the characters and the storyline. There were moments when I found myself Laughing, crying, screaming nooooo and kick his a$$ 😀 this book was an awesome page turner.
This book was so exciting and such a nail biting, hanging off my seat read. I was so enthralled, I had a hard time putting it down. I really loved all the characters, except Issac, what a delusional sicko. I just love ,love and the lovemaking. This book was so, so good.!
I was in the struggle bus with this one, I really struggled to finish this book. It was just so boring. None of the characters had much of a personality. Alina was just so fragile. It was just always a layer of sadness or anxiety over every interaction.
Like the other two books in this series this one grabbed me and pulled me in. I didn’t want to put it down. I had to know what happened next. OMG fantastic story.
This series was awesome. Loved the connections and friendships. Elle Wright develops her characters in a way that makes you want to get to know them. She also touched on mental illness and how it affects the entire family. Great great series!

The third book in author Elle Wright’s Edge of Scandal series, Her Kind of Man is the best kind of friends to lovers story. The kind that burrows beneath your skin and lingers inside your mind. The kind that makes you wonder. The kind that makes you hope. The kind that makes you believe in friendship before love and following your heart, listening to your instincts instead of the doubt and insecurity inside your head.
Allina Parker was all set to marry her minister fiancé when she overhears something that spooks her, forcing her to leave her own wedding and rush back to Michigan, back to Kent. Her safe haven, her unrequited love, her best friend.
Before Allina left for Ohio to focus on her upcoming wedding, Kent did his best to convince her she was making a mistake. But despite his views about her fiancé and their relationship, Kent wasn’t able to give Allina the answer she most needed to hear from him, putting a distance between them that prevents them from truly connecting with each other the way they need.
I really liked Allina and Kent. They were two complex characters I could totally understand and relate to. I got where they were coming from because it was all too easy to realize they carry a lot of weight on their shoulders, a lot of past hurts they find difficult to overcome. But once they spend more time together and start to work through their issues, they find themselves slowly falling deeper and deeper into love. Building upon the friendship they’ve spent years creating together.
Her Kind of Man is a solid friends to-lovers romance, with two multifaceted characters who must face both emotional and physical dangers to find their happily ever after. It’s a strong romance read. One I enjoyed a lot, in fact.
There was a lot that I enjoyed about this book. Friends to lovers is a trope I always enjoy, and I like a good enforced closeness. The author creates that closeness by giving Allina a crazy stalker, forcing her to hide with her best guy friend to avoid him. Instant sexual tension! And I like that Allina has a strong group of female friends, although I jumped in the series at book 3, so I suspect that aspect would have been even stronger if I'd had the full backstory.
I think I would have pushed this into 4 star territory if the suspenseful element of the story was just the teeniest bit stronger. We would get these moments of strong foreshadowing, a nervousness that something terrible was about to happen, but I never got to the place where I felt the threat from crazy Isaac. There was a lot of discussion about the things he'd done or was capable of, but I apart from the very beginning we get to actually see very little of that. It's quite possibly a personal preference thing, but I wanted to feel that sense of danger. I don't know if it was intended, but the marketing put me in mind of romantic suspense, and that was what I came in looking for. What was delivered was a solid contemporary romance, but it wasn't what I expected. I think that affected my enjoyment a bit, but if you're just looking for a good, contemporary friends-to-lovers story, I can certainly point you in this direction.
