For months, Sienna Nealon has been targeted by enemies that have hounded her at every turn, destroyed her reputation, and finally, struck at those dearest to her. Operating from the shadows, this mysterious group has never dared to show their faces in their quest for revenge against her.
Until now.
After crossing the final line, now her enemies have left themselves exposed for the first time, and Sienna will stop at nothing to drag them out into the daylight. Because while this may be her enemies' first time playing for vengeance, it certainly isn't Sienna's...
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
Only a four star rating for this one because for me it finished too soon. Whilst the epilogue points to where the story is going next it is also hinted at within the book and perhaps could have been put together in one bigger volume. Maybe just a cost thing if Robert is trying to keep the price of his books as low as possible to help his readers. Any way back to the review!
Nice to see a familiar face staying in this story having popped up in Tormented. Once again Sienna goes out there to save everyone from a troublesome metahuman or two (or more). The fun is in reading just how she deals with each and every threat. How she finds a metas one little weakness and then uses it to annihilate them. Discovering that dog is actually a meta in another form who has been around day and night and privvy to all that, that entails, dressing, undressing, showering, etc. etc. had me laughing out loud.
The story is paced, leading on from the last and pointing to the next giving its hints at what is to come. It is full of Sienna-isms that make you smile. It is nice to see she is picking up from the maudling mood she has been in (albeit induced by her enemies). I think I like her best when she has Reed and others to work with. Her descriptions of Reed in his hair loss state in parts of this story are hilarious, but I still can't picture him in my mind without his pony tail and beard. The agency has been floored, will it be rebuilt and will it be blamed on Sienna when it wasn't really her fault. I guess we find out in the next episode.
Throughly enjoyed this new book, I practically inhaled it! Robert J Crane has smashed it once again. Fast becoming one of my favourite authors. So many laugh out loud and witty retort moments, I get completely lost in this really well written story. Looking forward to the next instalment!!
Actually it's more than six books if you count the "Girl in the Box" series. In any case, the story was a good one. Sienna fights the bad guys as usual but also fights against her own tendency for overkill. Or maybe it's just kill.... Working on her self control and regaining her humanity are two of the main themes in this book. It looks like she's on her way to a new future.
Love the stories sign-up the main story. The characters are wonderfully flawed yet likeable. I relate strongly to the good guys, and, yet am able to empathize with at least some of the bad guys (and girls) especially Sierra, , Sienna's mom. Very well written by an author who clearly can to weave a storyline like nobody's business. Will keep reading as I look forward to seeing more on these incredibly believable characters, warts and all.
I know I tend to rave about this author but I only discovered this amazing writer and series a few weeks ago. Already on book 17. Recommend for anyone who enjoys good fiction about super powers used by good guys and girls against criminals with just as much power. Throw in a n angst driven young woman and evil gods from ancient mythology and you get addiction level fiction.
This series just keeps getting better. Sienna is out in a position that has her torturing herself continual, and the hand that out her in that position will surprise you. In the end it's to see that Reed and her finally see each other's point of view and are able to be family again. Off to start the next book!
This author is really good at getting his main character in deeeeep sh=t. He has gone far enough that I've decided to read something else by a Twitter who has a better talent. One who does not find good in running down 'll public servants, especially politicians and most bureaucrats.
I think my mind has been blown 🤯…I seriously can’t believe that sienna caught them and didn’t lose anyone during it. She’s seriously amazing and my favorite character. I’m so happy reed and her relationship are in so much better of a place. I’m also so thankful that dr z is back bc sienna legitimately loves him. I wonder what will happen next?
Poor Sienna saves the world and she's anathema to the press. If they'd just go with truth instead of cowing down I think it would help. I'm just a long for this ride but I'm firmly on her side. I've been fighting this kind of garbage my whole life and reacted badly. But anyone can grow. I see it happening. Great read.
Well my thoughts here are that the book was wonderful! I enjoyed reading it immensely. They tied up some of the storyline and enjoyed how it was done in this one. Plus the writing is great. Very entertaining.
When are these books going be turned into a film, or series. Each one surpasses the last, the stories get deeper and the attachment you feel to Sienna, is one of a loyal friend , looking out for her.
This series is kick-ass and if I need to write that nineteen more times, well, I guess I can, but I probably won't. There just isn't much more to say that I haven't said in so many other reviews for this series. This one seemed a bit shorter. That's about it.
Lots of action and steps in this story with Sienna beginning to understand herself and her friends recognizing some of the reasons she acts as she does. Glad she has a better balance in her life.
A short book and a bit of an abrupt ending to that section of the Sienna Nealon story but full of action and sarcasm and witty humour. I enjoyed it and the journey Sienna’s taken back to find a bit more humanity whilst not losing her personality.
Sienna Nealon and the feds of meta humans vs the Hillbilly meta humans. The mysterious clan has come out of the shadows seeking revenge for a death, of one of their own, which happened five years ago!
The first two paragraphs had me almost fuming as I read and then I realized I was being set up, so I sat back and began to enjoy more adventures with my girl Sienna.
Midway through the book it was mentioned that the clan had someone working on the inside of the Agency. This kept me wondering throughout. Of course, the first person I wanted to be so was...just because I want so desperately to be rid of him, once and for all!
This was not my favorite, in the series, but I do understand the direction it was headed. After all, Sienna is evolving and getting in touch with her humanity, destiny and dominance!
How many times, over the years, has the Agency buildings and people been under attack from mean, nasty, evil meta humans? I'm beginning to wonder...why keep rebuilding? Or make it all underground bunkers! Enough is enough!!!
"I'm not death"-swan song of Sienna throughout the book. I really admire her exploring her humanity and responsibility to her crew at the Agency. Now that she's 23 years old, she is showing more signs of maturity and I'm pleased with her growth.
Battle scenes were great, as usual. Good to have the whole gang back for this adventure. Really need some females to join the team. That would really be nice to see!!
I'm still hooked and can't wait for the next book in the series. Recommend.
I really don't know how Robert does it. This has been a complex story arc over six books which draws to an epic and fabulous conclusion. And I ask myself how it is that, despite having given us 16 (yep 16) books with Sienna Nealon in them, the writing isn't jaded, and the plot lines fresh. And he still manages to throw in a surprise (or 20) .
I sit here, along for the ride, and loving every single minute. This is, I think, the best yet in the series. I don't want to say more for fear of #spoilers. But. In case you didn't already know it, Sienna is a bad ass. BAD ASS I tell you.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I just finished this installment of the (Out of the box series) and I have to say this author does not disappoint!! I have really enjoyed every book so far and I am so ready for the next to come out!. There is so much I like about this story that its hard to say what I like the best about it but if I had to choose I'd say that its the characters. It's hard not to love them and root for our woman superhero through the difficult tasks she endures throughout the story. I am hoping that her relationship with a certain guy works itself out because I really like them together. Look forward to many more !! Must read this series if you haven't.
I'm glad to see that this particular episode in Sienna's life has wrapped up so that there are no cliff hangers. It's not so bad when I start a series that has already been completed, as when I read The Girl in the Box, but I have a terrible memory and find myself forgetting characters if I have to wait too long until the next book is published. I am enjoying seeing Sienna coming into her own with both her meta powers and her humanity.
***Spoilers*** I enjoyed Vengeful, but am surprised by the changes Sienna Nealon is going through. She is still kicking ass, but isn't killing without a care. I am especially happy that Reed survived, it would've taken Sienna to a dark place. Good read, wonder where Sienna's story will take us next..
A shorter outing than the last instalment. Tied up lots of loose ends including the cliff hanger from the last. Nice to see dr Zollers and loads of references to the earlier books/adventures. Even thou I enjoyed it I felt the end came to quickly..... Looking forward to a book every two months this year,as promised by the author. At a loose end till mid February now.
