About the author

Lover of beautifully written words, strong heroines, anti-heroes, steamy romance, and swoon-worthy, broody MMCs, Lucia spends most of her free time, you guessed it…reading. Or better said, devouring books until the early hours of the morning because the main characters finally kissed after an agonizing slow burn, and she needs to know what happens next.

When she’s not glued to her laptop, writing, drawing character art for her stories while listening to true crime podcasts, or daydreaming about falling through a magical portal in a mystical realm, you can find Lucia on the couch with her two fur babies, watching House of the Dragon.

Oh, I had SO much fun with this one!

I just finished the ALC of A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light by Lucia Skye, and can we PLEASE talk about that demon’s voice?! Because OMG. That narrator was doing things to me!

I absolutely loved this urban fantasy! It was fast-paced, full of action, secrets, betrayal, and some delicious tension. Iris was such a fun FMC. Her inner monologue was fantastic, and I loved her sass! Give me a heroine with an attitude and a sharp tongue, and I’m happy.

But Kaiden? Our demon MMC? Good gods. The chemistry, the banter, and THAT VOICE. I was absolutely here for all of it.

Such an entertaining read, and the audiobook made it even better! I definitely need more of this series.

Thank you to the author for the gifted ALC!

I cant tell you how excited I was to listen to this audio. The book is one of my all time favorites and when i seen who the narrators were 🔥

It did not disappoint this was such an immersive audio and the characters were truly brought to life.

Everything about this story was 5 stars. The plot, the pacing, the characters and a perfect amount of spice. Literally perfection in my ears.

A spicy urban romantasy with a tatted 6ft 4 demon and a baddass fmc demon hunter 🖤

Thank you so much to the author Lucia Skye for the ALC giving me the opportunity to discover my new favorite series & MMC 😮‍💨❤️‍🔥 I binged the entire audiobook in one sitting!!!

Not only was the storyline addictive, the characters delightful & the spice pipping hot, but the duet narration by Melissa Barr & James Cassidy was exquisite and just enhanced the whole experience 🔥🔥🔥

I already knew I loved the story, but hearing it come to life was great. These narrators did amazing!!

I had the honor of Arc reading the ebook and now get the chance for ALC. A friend is the one who introduced me to lucia skye's books, and i absolutely loved the way she writes.

Sam wants her move on cause noah really broke her bestie heart and just wants her happy just like any bestie would, sam is funny and a witch. So iris obviously keeps busy by covetorax demons hunting.

Iris is badass her character is just chef kiss and absolutely loves the narrator for her 💕.

Kaiden Black omg he is everything i love in an mmc, and the narrator for him will just melt you. i know i fell in love with his voice. He no ordinary demon he is an elite demon, their chemistry is so addicting. Then, when noah returned, that was definitely a shocker for her.

There are more than demons in this story, which is why i loved the book so much (vampires, werewolves, faeries, archangels, and other mystical creatures). The spicy scenes are so damn good. The narrators did so well on it and made me love listening to it even though i know exactly what is going happen, but their voices just make it even better.

Fantastic performance. Truly amazing how James & Melissa were able to perform this amazing book so perfectly. Giving each and every character their own distinct voice. Superb!

Book #1 Echoes of Darkness

This is my first book by Lucia Skye and let me tell you I AM HOOKED! I love how she is able to develop such a fantastic group of characters, mix in humor with the danger and romance. Even though this is a paranormal darkish fantasy romance I definitely laughed a few times.

Iris is the FMC and I found her to be relatable. She went through a horrible accident and lost her month and her memories. She is now one bada$$ demon hunter and I love her strength. Noah is the one that got away, the man that left her behind, but he is back now and causing all kinds of emotions for Iris. Kaiden is a demon but not just any demon he is the head of the Obsidian Conclave the opposing side of the Ashville Order where Iris works as a hunter.

I started this book and was immediately hooked by end of chapter 1! Lucia's writing style pulls you in, and you feel like you are listening to a movie. I also love that Iris is obsessed with the vampire diaries. Super great character development and all-around fantastic book! Can not recommend it enough... and I need book 1 in audio now please!

Thank you Lucia Skye for this ALC.

Thank you so much to Lucia Skye for this ALC, here are my thoughts:

First, I need to start off by saying these narrators were PERFECT.
I felt like they embodied Iris and Kaiden!! 🖤🖤

I was so happy to be back in this world!
I still always love Sam so much, she’s the best friend and the one that everyone wants and needs!

Kaiden SWOOOOOOOON.
And to HEAR his lines? Sheesh 🥵🥵
The scene at Sin? The scene in her room? Perfection.

It was so nice to have a refresher and I forgot of the cliffhanger 🤣

I feel like this was even better on audio!! And it was already five stars!!
This was everything!

If you like:

Guuyyyyyyyyys! Believe me when I say this series is criminally underhyped!

If you're searching for your next spicy, paranormal, urban fantasy, and dark romance obsession, A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light by Lucia Skye is absolutely it.

I was fortunate enough to read this as an ARC in 2025, and it had me hooked then just as much as it does now, rereading it as an ALC over a year later. I devoured it both times, and dare I say, it's even better on audio! The narrators both did a fantastic job and their duet narration was everything.

Seriously, pick this up immediately. And while you're at it, go ahead and grab its incredible sequel, A Prophecy of Chaos and Blood, too. Trust me. Zero regrets. Your TBR will forgive you. 😉

A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light centers in a world where humans remain oblivious to the existence of demons and two opposing forces uphold the delicate balance between good and evil: the righteous Order of Sariel and the enigmatic Obsidian Conclave. The FMC, Iris, is a feisty and headstrong 23 year old demon hunter. She lost both her mother and her memories in a tragic car accident when she was only 15. After the accident, she was taken in by the Order, where she has spent every moment since training for one purpose - avenging her mother’s death at the hands of a demon. But when a routine hunt takes an unexpected turn, Iris is saved by an unlikely stranger, and she can’t escape her draw toward him. And wow, immediately there is so. much. tension. 🥵 To complicate things further, the boy who wrecked her heart five years ago has returned, now transformed into a man, and he’s set on winning her back. Amidst her warring heart, Iris finds herself trying to solve some inexplicable events, and what she discovers along the way slowly starts shattering everything she thought she knew about her mission - and her past.

The characters in this book were very well written, each bringing depth and intrigue to the story. Iris is feisty and stubborn, sometimes to a fault, but overall I really enjoyed her inner dialogue and witty banter. And let’s take a moment to welcome your next book boyfriend: Kaiden! 😍 Mysterious, confident, and effortlessly charismatic, he exudes an irresistible mix of protectiveness, dominance, and razor sharp wit. Beneath his hardened exterior, however, lies a man utterly smitten - and oh their chemistry! 🥵 Noah’s character is artfully written displaying the complexity of his situation and feelings, raising so many questions about him and his intentions! The side characters are equally fantastic. Sam shines as a fiercely loyal best friend with an abundance of personality. And I adore Malik, Dominic and Logan. While these characters are completely unique to this story, they were giving me strong “Inner Circle” vibes from ACOTAR that makes my heart full. 💖

With so much still unfolding and remaining to be revealed, the story is utterly captivating with suspense and intrigue. There's lots of foreshadowing and easter eggs scattered throughout that kept me constantly guessing - and at various points, being suspicious of nearly everyone. So many questions and theories!

I loved both A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light and A Prophecy of Chaos and Blood and I’m so eager to watch the story unfold further as the series continues!

✨ My sincerest gratitude to Lucia Skye for the opportunity to read this ALC. This is my honest review. ✨

WELL, WHERE THE HELL HAVE I BEEN HIDING?

Sometimes an audiobook lands in your inbox that’s a little outside your usual wheelhouse. Then you spot James Cassidy’s name, discover a new-to-you narrator in Melissa Barr, and realise the author is someone you’ve somehow managed to miss entirely.

My reaction? HELL YES.

And then I met the 6’4” tattooed demon and thought… excuse me, Lucia Skye, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY READING LIFE?

A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light – Echoes of Darkness #1
by Lucia Skye

First things first, Lucia’s world-building is absolutely heavenly. Pun very much intended. But do I want to live in the darkness she’s created? Oh, absolutely. I’ll even bring snacks.

Demons, demon hunters, wolf shifters, vampires, magic, danger, secrets and enough tension to keep my Kindle working overtime. This is a world that pulled me in and refused to let go.

Iris is a badass, stabby FMC, and I’m here for a woman who can handle herself. The forbidden attraction, possessiveness, forced proximity and those delicious touch-her-and-die moments? Yes, please!

And the spice? Well, let’s just say my audiobook headphones deserve a medal.

Now, you know I’m not exactly the biggest fan of love triangles. I’m much more of a circle girlie… if you know what I mean. The more the merrier!

But surprisingly, this hasn’t upset my literary cosmos. I’m invested, I’m intrigued, and I’m absolutely ready to see where Lucia takes this.

NOW, LET’S TALK AUDIO. 🎧

Performed in duet by Melissa Barr and James Cassidy, and honestly, what a pairing!

Melissa was a fantastic introduction to her voice. She brought Iris to life with strength, emotion and exactly the kind of presence this FMC needed.

And James Cassidy… well, if you’ve followed my ADDAE adventures, you’ll know I’m still recovering from meeting this man in person.

Am I still reliving that interaction? Of course I bloody am!

And then there’s that voice. That delivery. Those little character nuances. Oh, and his potty mouth… MOTHER OF GOD. 🥵

James knows how to deliver a performance, and together these two captured the chemistry, tension, attraction and emotional depth beautifully.

This wasn’t simply listening to a story. I was completely immersed in it.

Every emotion, every dangerous moment, every little shift in tension… they made me feel it.

Lucia created the world, but Melissa and James gave it a voice, a heartbeat and a whole lot of heat.

MY VERDICT?

A new-to-me author, a world I’m already obsessed with, a seriously addictive storyline and an audiobook pairing that absolutely delivered.

I started this slightly outside my usual reading comfort zone and finished wondering why on earth I’ve only just discovered Lucia Skye.

And the best bit?

IT’S OUT NOW!

A massive thank you to Audio Sorceress for introducing me to this world and giving me the opportunity to listen. And congratulations, Lucia, on your audiobook release!

One book down, one very intrigued Novellaworm, and a whole new world of darkness to explore.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

Just remember: love triangle, cliffhanger, dark themes and check those content warnings before diving in.

Now, if anyone needs me, I’ll be over here waiting for book two. Preferably with a strong cup of tea and my headphones firmly attached. 🖤🎧

⭐ Audiobook verdict: An absolute YES!

[Vicky · Rating 4 out of 5]

This book is very much a vibe read! Once you're pulled into this world, it's hard to put down. And getting to experience it all over again through audio was such a treat! 🖤

We follow Iris, a fierce and loyal hellseeker whose job is to hunt demons and send them back to Hell. But when a mission goes terribly wrong, she's saved by the mysterious Kaiden Black, an elite demon who challenges everything she's been raised to believe about demons. Add in old heartbreak, dangerous secrets, betrayal and an attraction she really shouldn't be feeling, and things get complicated pretty quickly. 🥀

I adored Iris as a main character. She's fierce, stubborn and loyal, caught in a tug-of-war between her beliefs and the unsettling truths she's beginning to discover. And Kaiden? Let's just say he owns every scene he's in. Respectful, patient, yet full of fiery intensity. The slow-burn chemistry between these two had me swooning. The little touch-her-and-die moments? Perfection. 🥰

The worldbuilding is another highlight for me. Hellseekers, archangels, demons, vampires, witches and warlocks, all woven into an intriguing world that feels like there's so much more waiting to be discovered.

I still feel like this first book is a big build-up, setting the stage for the much bigger story to come. It takes a little while to really settle into, and I think the sequel does an even better job of showing just how explosive this series can be - so get ready. 👀

Now, let's talk about the audiobook because WOW!
Melissa Barr and James Cassidy absolutely knocked it out of the park. The duet narration brought the characters and their interactions to life in a whole new way. It is SO incredibly sexy.
I genuinely loved hearing this story unfold, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience revisiting Kaiden and Iris.

The story itself remains a 4-star read for me, but the audio narration is a solid 5 stars. An absolutely fantastic audiobook experience! 🖤
I cannot wait for book 2 on audioooo. 😍

Duration: 11 hours, 3 minutes

This is my first book by Lucia Skye and it's safe to say that I'm officially invested in this series. The writing was great and the story was well paced, that cliffhanger has me wanting to read book 2 asap.

Iris, the FMC, is a Hellseeker - otherwise known as a Demon Hunter. She lost her mom during a car accident 8 years prior, and lost her memories as well. After the accident, she's taken in by the Order, an organization set to train fighters against paranormal creatures. When a mission goes wrong, Iris is saved by Kaiden, an Elite Demon. They start working together and the chemistry between them is instant, complicating everything going on. Only thing is that she gets a sense of deja vu whenever she's with him, leading her to believe that they may have known each other prior to her memory loss.

Lets take a minute to introduce Kaiden Black, your new Demon Daddy - a 6ft 4in Demon with tattoos and a motorcycle who just so happens to be pierced🍆I was hooked on him instantly. Iris is such a badass FMC, I enjoyed her witty banter and sassy attitude, plus the fact that she took no sh*t from anyone had me rooting for her.

The narrators are fantastic and kept me fully immersed, seriously they embodied the characters very well. James Cassidy, holy smokes, that voice🥵he was utter perfection to voice Kaiden's character. Melissa portrayed Iris' character to life - each sassy and witty comment hit flawlessly.

Thank you so much to Lucia Skye for the advanced listening copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you, Lucia, for this amazing opportunity to listen to the duet-style audio of your book!

I was hooked from the very beginning! This book is action-packed from start to finish.

Being left with no memories from before her car accident when she was a teenager, Iris was taken in by The Order of Hellseekers and trained as a lethal demon hunter.

During a hunt, things go awry, and she is saved by Kainden Black, the elite demon who is the head of the Obsidian Conclave.

I enjoyed the thriller/mystery aspect of this story. The stakes are high, and the suspense is always there.

This story strikes a great balance between the real world and the paranormal. Shifters, vampires, witches, ghosts, and more all fit seamlessly into this world and don’t feel forced.

I loved getting to witness Iris’s thoughts and feelings as she comes to grips with admitting that all that she has been taught may not be the truth. Her turmoil over her feelings for both her ex and the demon she’s falling for feels so believable. I love the writing style of this book.

As always, James Cassidy voices the male characters to absolute perfection. He definitely brings Kaiden to life as the sexy, raspy, tormented demon that he is.

This was my first time listening to Melissa Barr, and OH MY WORD, she is phenomenal! The emotion and feeling she puts into not just the FMC, but all the other female characters is amazing!

I cannot wait for the next installment to be recorded!

Narrated by: James Cassidy & Melissa Barr.

I’m OBSESSED with them and this audio was so flipping good. 👏 Lucia chose the perfect pair of narrators to bring Kaiden & Iris to life. James Cassidy’s growly voice is exactly how Kaiden sounded on my mind when I first read the book and I loved Melissa Barr as Iris, she brought out her strong, sassy and funny personality.

Whenever James Cassidy spoke I swear I had goosebumps and when we got to the part where the filthy mouth of Kaiden came to play o dear me 🥵.

I loved Mellisa Barr as Iris, I giggled at her inner monologues and the banter between her and her best friend or Kaiden, perfect.

Both narrators have done an excellent job and I cannot wait to listen to them on the next books.

Come met your next obsession, Kaiden Black 6 foot 4 elite demon, tatted, rides a motorcycle, pierced and obsessed with Iris what more do you need 😉. This man stole my heart and Iris is one lucky woman.

If you haven’t read the book and you are an audio girl only this is a forbidden romance, demon x demon hunter, memory lost, sassy bff, bad ass fmc, possessive mmc, touch her and d!e. It follows Kaiden the elite demon and Iris the hellseker, if you love Vampire Diaries, Shadow Hunters, Supernatural then you will definitely love this one as well.

This is one of my all-time favourite trilogies and when Lucia announced the audio is coming I applied with the speed of light to be part of her team.

Thank you Lucia Skye for having me on your team and for the opportunity to listen to this amazing book.

Melissa Barr is perfect for the female characters. She really brought personality and life to all the female characters, in particular Iris and Sam. James Cassidy is okay, a bit too deep for me in general. He does employ slightly different voices for each male character which is good. I would have preferred Kaiden’s voice to not be so raspy or gravelly. Because of the duet recording, the arguments, the flirting, the banter and the smutty talk is chef’s kiss. Their delivery was flawless.

Overall, I really enjoyed hearing this story brought to life. I hope I get to relive the rest of the story in audio format.

ALC Review

Wow, wow and WOW.

Thank you first for the opportunity to advance listen to this AMAZING audiobook

I was hooked right from the start and desperately need more as that cliffhanger of an ending had my jaw dropped screaming NOOOOOO

This love triangle already has me rooting for one MMC over another. I will always choose the demon 😈

The FMC is so strong and fearless with moments of softness while battling not only 1 mystery, but also battling her missing memories that definitely I can see tying into the present battles.

We learn that those we should not count on are there in a heartbeat while others will use you for what you have and toss you aside to fit their hatred.

Definitely underlying tones of prejudices between what crawls at night versus those meant to contain them.

The intensity of the sequel tension she has is borderline comical thanks to her feral sex addicted best friends encouraging her to just get it done 🤭. She is an amazing side character, but one for sure would get me into a world trouble.

I can't wait for book 2 and after listening to this audio I NEED to physically read this book.

[Mathie · Rating 3.75 out of 5]

This gave me major Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Constantine vibes, and honestly, I was here for it! Dark woods, dangerous magic, demons and a badass monster-hunting FMC? Yes, please.

I really enjoyed following Iris. She is tough, lethal, and definitely not the type to sit around waiting to be saved. And let's just say the two MMCs brought plenty of tension to the story. The plot kept me engaged and I loved that the mystery and demon-hunting lore actually made sense without slowing down the pacing.

I listened to this on audio, and Melissa Barr did an amazing job bringing Iris to life. James Cassidy also has the perfect voice for a dark paranormal romance, although I occasionally found it hard to tell the male characters apart since their voices sounded quite similar.

My only other issue was that some conversations, particularly about Iris's virginity, felt repetitive and came up more often than necessary.

Overall, though, this was a gritty and addictive start to the series! If you love dark paranormal romance, dangerous magic, badass heroines, and a little Buffy and Constantine energy, this one might be for you.

Thank you to Lucia Skye for the ALC.

Having read this book back in 2025, I didn't think it could get any better, but boy was i wrong. This audio just completely heightened the experience.

Kaiden is one of my all time favourite Book boyfriends. And even more so after James Cassidy brought his growly, gravely tones to life.

Melissa Barr was the absolute embodiment of Iris and portrayed her exactly how I expected. Her wit and banter and timing was impeccable.

The story and plot as ever was fantastic, the pacing was great. The cliff hanger still left me gasping even having read it before and book 2.

If you are looking for a spicy, urban dark fantasy, then I implore you to read this series. It truly is an all time favourite of mine and will continue to pester everyone until they read it!

Thanks again Lucia 💜

I had the pleasure of receiving this story as an ALC and my word…. these narrators did this book justice. Melissa Bar is the perfect voice for the badass FMC Iris and James Cassidy as Kaiden Black could make anyone hot under the collar.

A well paced urban fantasy with forbidden romance, demons and hunters, touch her and you’ll die vibes. Tension throughout the entire storyline and the perfect cliff hanger that makes you want to pick up book 2 instantly. I want so much more of that man’s come hither voice in my ears.

A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light was such a fun listen. The duet narration by Melissa Barr and James Cassidy was excellent and really helped me sink into the story. This paranormal romance blends demons and angels with plenty of action and tension.

Kaiden and Iris made a compelling pair, but Iris was the standout for me. She is strong, stubborn, and impossible not to root for from the very beginning. The banter between them kept me engaged and added just the right amount of humor and chemistry.

This was my first book by Lucia Skye, but it definitely will not be my last. Huge thanks to Lucia Skye for the ALC!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ALC of A Wicked Dance of Obsidian and Light, and honestly, I was hooked from the dedication alone. (You know it's going to be good when it starts like that! 👀)
The plot is fast-paced, addictive and ridiculously entertaining, with plenty of moments that had me completely invested. But can we talk about the AUDIO?! Absolutely phenomenal. The narration brought the story to life so perfectly that I genuinely found myself giggling away to myself in public. No shame. 😂
If you're looking for an urban dark romantasy that delivers on the twists, the entertainment and the moments that leave you gasping, then this needs to be going straight onto your TBR.

The narrators did such a good job bringing this story to life.

The dialogue was A+
The story was engrossing, with a pace that hooks you from the start but never feels rushed.
Within the tropes there is a found family vibe, forced proximity, memory loss and touch her and die.
Totally gave me grown up shadowhunters vibes, but wittier and more bad ass.

10/10 would recommend this amazing audio book!
