Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber) was an American writer, editor, creator of comic book superheroes, and the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.

With several artist co-creators, most notably Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he co-created Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor as a superhero, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, the Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scarlet Witch, The Inhumans, and many other characters, introducing complex, naturalistic characters and a thoroughly shared universe into superhero comic books. He subsequently led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation.

Killgrave!

Now I know where this character comes from. Familiar with him from season one of Jessica Jones. The purple man isn't quite as powerful in this issue as he was there. I don't think Stan Lee had fleshed him out thoroughly in this early introduction.

The persuasive one is as unnerving as he is in the show. Daredevil is immune, mostly, to his speech. Of course, no one else is. Daredevil has "gadgets", which I think are too easy. This isn't the modern era Daredevil we are talking about. This is "utility belt Silver Age" Daredevil, so he has a concealed microphone and a plastic wrap that can be launched from his cane. Eh.

Matt has feelings for Karen. Karen has feelings for Matt. Foggy has feelings for Karen. Matt knows Foggy has feelings for Karen. Quite the love triangle.

Killgrave - the Purple Man (PM)! All he has to do is say what he wants you to do and you must obey! DD is the only person who can resist his power of suggestion - so PM decides to eliminate DD! But how does PM decide to do it? By turning a crowd and a gym full of 'body builders' against DD! Here is some advice PM: find the Hulk (H), Namor (N), the Thing (T) and Spider-Man and tell them to take DD out! Right!? Still a fun book!

Here are the pros:
- Kilgrave is an interesting and good villain.

Here are the cons:
- The art is bad.

- The line “I guess I’m just a silly female”. What women in the world would say that? Learn to write female characters Stan.

Rating: 3/5.

Issues like this are what make the $1 True Believers comics so much fun to read....

Hopefully the Purple Man becomes more threatening in the future. I also hate Silver Age Karen Page.
