Lethal Lobster by Hope Callaghan is the third book in the Cruise Ship series and was another fun and engaging cozy mystery. Millie, Cat and Annette are now on the trail of someone who seems to be poisoning food from Annette's kitchen. Since Annette's contract is up soon, it looks like someone wants to make sure that Annette doesn't come back. The hunt is on with only a few suspects but the twists kept me turning the pages.
Love the mature lady solving crime (sub)genre (nosy old lady nosing in). I read these, especially this author, who doesn’t browbeat you with her beliefs but does exemplify in plots a Christian lifestyle — 💞😄💕
Great addition to the series. I'm a sucker for the cruise ship setting so these are right up my alley. Millie is spunky, resourceful, and fun. This was a quick, exciting mystery. I'm not a fan of the breaking in to get clues - I find it lazy - but hopefully it won't happen again. Looking forward to the next.
Millie Sanders is back on the Siren of the Sea cruise ship. She is the Assistant Cruise Director. Millie is a trip!! She is always looking out for others even if she has to bend rules to resolve occurring situations. This trip involves food poisoning among the crew. Who is behind the crew getting ill??? It is up to Millie and her crew to find out before the illness is widespread. I enjoyed going behind the scenes aboard the cruise ship. The plot is unpredictable. The characters pose a variety of suspects. Scout the Captain’s dog plays a part in the story. Lethal Lobster is the third book in The Cruise Ship Christian Cozy Mysteries Series
Millie has reported to the guys to be a volunteer in the self-defense class. What she didn't know what she was going to be Andy's Guinea pig for the stun gun.
As the group gets done one of the crew members get sick and they are blaming Annette. She could lose her job over this. With her contract coming up and others on the ship have applied for her job, it is clear someone is out to get rid of Annette.
Millie and the girls get cracking on the case and this time it just might get them in trouble.
Another great read and recipe. The captain is moving in slowly on romance with Millie and Scout is the celebrity of the ship.
When 3 of the ship's crew suffer food poisoning, Chef Annette is the suspect. Millie and Cat, along with Scout the dog, try to figure out who was responsible. Why is someone trying to frame Annette? Could it be someone who wants to take over her job? Several of her assistants want the promotion, but would they risk being caught poisoning food for the chef's job? I like books set on cruise ships, and I enjoy this series even though they're a little religious and they don't always include a murder.
I am really enjoying this series ... just simple mysteries, but I especially enjoy all the cruise ship references, as we love cruising ... makes me very anxious for our next trip. I also enjoy the characters and their relationships to one another ... and the bit of romance added ... along with the promise of the next book in the series.
Books are getting better, and in fact, I ordered the 2nd 3-pack containing books 4, 5, and 6. The characters are really getting fleshed out now and I am enjoying the developing relationships between them. This one was slightly predictable, but there was a twist I didn't expect.
I am starting to really enjoy these books. There is still some things that don't make sense here and there but the author's cruise mysteries are fun and entertaining.
I love the characters and the way Hope Callaghan brings them to life in a way that makes me feel like I’m really getting to know them all. The story line is so engaging I have to keep reading till I reach the end which always turns out to be a surprise ending. I’m never disappointed and always look forward to the next book of the series. I would recommend this book and any of the others I’ve read to anyone who likes a good mystery filled with interesting characters that always leaves you wanting more
This is the third book in Hope Callaghan’s Cruise Ship Chronicles Cozy Mystery Series and, like the first two books, is a delightful read. Ms. Callaghan has written another book with a well-plotted storyline, well-developed characters and an interesting mystery to try to solve. I love reading a good Whodunit with no foul language, graphic violence or sexually explicit scenes. This book was easy to read and kept my interest from beginning to end … I couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading light, cozy Christian mysteries.
The main character, Millie Sanders, is well liked and appreciated by the entire crew, but she is a handful at times! She has a penchant for ending up in sticky situations, a tendency to bend the rules and is a magnet for trouble. She is always looking out for others and just can’t seem to control herself when she’s out to solve a mystery. Millie finds herself deeply involved in trying to solve the mysterious poisoning of crewmembers, taking on additional responsibilities when her boss, Andy Walker, becomes ill and surviving her first storm while at sea. Scout, Captain Armati’s Teacup Yorkie and Millie’s sidekick, helps Millie and Andy locate a missing passenger! She gets herself in so deep this time that she’s dangerously close to losing the job she dearly loves, but because she’s so well liked and her sleuthing skills respected, only some of her special privileges are revoked. Captain Armati presents Millie and Scout with a delightful surprise!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
LOVE THE SERIES BUT I GENERALLY FEEL LET DOWN BY THE REVEAL.
PREMISE: Assistant Cruise Director, Millie Sanders' day is off to a shockingly bad start when her boss “volunteers” her to be his Guinea pig for a stun gun self-defense class in front of her fellow shipmates. Loyal to a fault, she agrees but almost immediately regrets her decision. Meanwhile, several crewmembers have become violently ill and possibly on the verge of death after eating food prepared from the galley kitchen, operated by her best friend, Annette Delacroix. It soon becomes clear that someone is out to sabotage her friend and may be willing to go as far as murder. Millie dives in to the new mystery head first as she and her friend, Cat, try to salvage Annette's career and stop the saboteur before someone is murdered - or is it already too late?
THOUGHTS: Great book and I really do love this series so far. It's really fun being on the cruise line with Millie and to be hanging out with her friends. Sadly the reveals continue to let me down. While this one was a better length-wise I called the killed within the first quarter of the book as it was that obvious. That said, love the series and cant wait to keep going.
Overview: Andy wasn't kidding when he told Millie that she would be learning how to use her new taser. Too bad that the lesson ends with some bad news. There's been a case of food poisoning. The Siren of the Seas second in command is sick, and closing in on a set of serious complications. What's worse, Annette's contract has come up, and it's soon clear that someone is gunning for her job. What is going on on this ship? Can Annette's job be saved?
Dislikes: We get some history on Cat. Her ex is someone I'd like to shoot. There is no reason to ever hurt someone you love like that.
Annette was overly focused on losing her job, so much so that she didn't consider what her actions could cost another.
Likes: The Captain knows how to handle himself. He is date with Millie was a great way to show his land based skill set.
Donovan showed a great sense of forgiveness.
I loved the sting that the girls set up this time.
Conclusion: This was a fun trip, and a different kind of mystery. You'll just have to read it to see just who all gets sick and what happens to them. Enjoy the trip.
Millie works as the Assistant Cruise Director on Siren of the Seas. As a former investigator, she's known for getting to the bottom of the occasional mysterious happenings in the ship. This time, the mystery begins when the ship's Assistant Captain becomes violently ill almost dieing. Because her friend Annette is head of the kitchen staff, Millie jumps in and starts investigating before her friend gets falsely fired for poisoning Captain Vitale. Will Millie be able to solve the mystery before another crewmember falls victim?!
Another great cozy mystery by Hope Callaghan! She tells a great story. The daily ship activities are never dull. The list of suspects always has you guessing. The Christian theme that's always present is a great reminder to not lose sight of God. If you are someone who enjoys cozy mysteries, and has a strong Christian based faith, definitely try these mysteries!!
The third book in Hope Callaghan's fun Cruise Ship Christian Cozy mystery series is called Lethal Lobster. This is the perfect title since this time around Millie Sanders is trying to find out who is poisoning crew members on the ship. The first incident happens when Captain Vitale is almost fatally poisoned with Annette Delacroix's lobster bisque. Since Annette's contract as Director of Food and Beverages expires in two weeks, it seems that someone doesn't want her to keep her job. So Millie, Annette, and Cat have some more sleuthing to do while trying not to get fired in the process! Millie also gets to spend an afternoon of sight seeing with Captain Armatis! This book started right where book 2 left off. I enjoy this series and the fact that Millie is an older heroine. I am ready to see what happens next on the cruise ship in book number 4.
Someone is poisoning the ship's officers, and Annette, the head of food and beverages, is suspected - but not by her good friends Millie and Cat, who set out to trap the poisoner.
Millie and the captain enjoy a delightful day at Dunne's Rivers Falls in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Later they stop at a church. The captain hands an envelop to the his friend, the minister, who thanks him for his generosity to the church. As they leave, they are set upon by thugs, but narrowly escape when the captain pulls a gun out of his backpack and points it at them. The driver tells the captain that it was a close call this time. This time?
No ship's officers were fatally poisoned in the writing of this book.
This was the best book of the series so far! For one thing there were no dead bodies!
Millie, Annette, and Cat only had to figure out who was poisoning the Crew from the top right down to the bottom.
The Lobster Bisque That was delivered to the Captain's table and eaten by his first mate almost did Captain Vitale in, but thanks to the quick actions of everyone involved on board, he was airlifted to the nearest hospital and finally able to return to the ship.
Needless to say it was touch and go for a while for all aboard to see if anyone else was going to be poisoned.
The book was well written and now I am almost finished with book 4 waiting to start book 5.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6: 34 NIV
Another winner from Hope Callaghan. Like Karin Kaufman’s Juniper Grove series, this has become one of my go-to cozy mystery series. The characters are interesting, the mysteries are fun to unravel, and there are plenty of red herrings. Didn’t come close to guessing this one! And I love the cruise ship setting. There is always some faith aspects as well. This is definitely a series I will continue off and on between other books.
Wow what kinds of thugs might be chasing the captain in Jamaica? And now after Cat told her sad backstory, Millie knew her ex wasn’t someone to take lightly. But the main case was clearing Annette from food poisoning blame.
From getting in some hot water with the big bosses to riding out a storm literally then figuring out a would-be killer, Millie’s done a lot in the short time she’s worked for the ship. The showdown was another good one and the end has another little side story clue to keep readers wanting more.
I have basically read this entire series (17 books so far, I think)...they are fun and fluffy and clean. I love the Christian aspect, I love the CRUISING aspect, and the characters are pretty likable... (though admittedly, I sometimes roll my eyes at Millie getting involved once more in something or someplace she has no business being---but since that is the premise of the entire series...there you have it!) Enjoyable "summer" read, all year round.
Millie loves her new job on the cruise ship and her coworkers. Everything is going great until the main Captain of the ship is suddenly air evacuated due to being suddenly acutely I'll. Food poisoning or what? There is a lot of mystery, action, jealousy and even a bit of romance. Hope makes you feel like you are right there in the story. I love her books and give it 5 stars. I recommend this book to everyone. It is clean and a joy to read.
Assistant Cruise Director, Millie Sanders is volunteered to be a Guinea pig for a stun gun self-defense class. Meanwhile, crewmembers are becoming violently ill from the galley kitchen. Annette Delacroix is suspected. Millie investigates.
Shocking start to the story. Stun gun? Ouch. I would have liked to "experience" the cruise a little more. I'd say the book was 90 percent solving of a crime, verses to sailing on the water. The mystery was great.
It looks like someone is out to take Annette's job as Director of Food Services as crew members are getting food poisoning. Annette's contract ends in two weeks and if Millie and her sidekicks can not solve the mystery, Annette may be without a job. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because one issue was not resolved (for me)....why was it that only the chain of command was being targeted? Was it to get the company's attention? This was still a delightful read and I do recommend it.
This is another fun mystery set on a cruise ship, following Millie and all her friends. I will say, with this one especially, less then half the book focuses on the mystery itself, the rest focusing more on daily occurrences, friendships, and romance on the ship. This isn't exactly a criticism, since I quite enjoyed seeing the cozy troubles and fun times on the cruise, but I also would have liked a bit more of a complex mystery. Still a fun read, though.
