They say the truth will set you free. I can’t argue with that. But what if the truth comes pouring out of you and it won’t stop? I play for myself. Music is not only my passion, but those black and white keys are my lifeline.

One night was all it took for me to hit rock bottom. I didn’t lose everything, I still had my tunes, but I never thought living my dream would continue to kick those old wounds wide open again.

Pain can haunt you for years; memories can hold you back and repeatedly break your heart. Music saved me, but I later realized...

MY MUSIC HAD BEEN SAVING OTHERS TOO

Besides books, I love music, dance, sports, and sunshine. I love live music and love going to concerts. Doesn't tell you much, but you'll learn way more about me from social media or my blog site!

My writing: I don't write short stories. I'd rather have one full story instead of turning it into two. I believe in order to build a relationship with a book, it takes time to get to know it. I like my characters to be well-developed. I like the story to show rather than tell. I like my heroes to have integrity and my heroines to be strong. Just as importantly, I like them to have a sense of humor. I believe in adversity because it is a natural part of life, and I like my characters to learn that as well. And I definitely *prefer* happily ever afters!

Thanks for reading!

‘My music was me. Everything about my life was in my music. My blood, guts and sweat were in my music. My heart and soul had purged every ounce of life experience that I had for my music.’

We LOVED this story! It’s been way too long between Hadley Quinn books and Ivory reminded us of why we love her stories; her words elicit a depth of emotion which embraces us with every turn of the page and Jude and Ree…well, they were IT for us!

It’s apparent when you read a Hadley Quinn story that she writes from the heart and clear to see that for her it’s all about the story, the characters and her readers. There is nothing more rewarding for a passionate reader than to experience the energy, joy, realness and pure unadulterated love an author pours into her story and we certainly felt that AND more with Ivory.

“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For believing in me.”

Music and lyrics are a powerful thing. Who hasn’t been touched by a song, heard lyrics we swore were written with us in mind, and we’ve all have that moment when a song instantly transports us back in time igniting memories whether they be joyous or sad because music is a powerful force and for two people, like us, who are intrinsically music lovers, this book hit incredibly close to home. We believed, felt and loved every single mesmerizing word this talented author penned. Hadley Quinn’s insight into the music industry came across so vivid and so real we couldn’t help but be swept along with her provocative words

“When you’re happy you enjoy the music; when you’re struggling…you understand the lyrics.”

We fell head over heels for Jude and Ree and their love story is one that was so moving, so romantic and so sincere, our hearts were practically overflowing. Jude Collins was such a soulful, insightful and beautiful man. We know we always talk about our alpha guys, but ladies, we’ve glimpsed into the heart of this romantic, sincere man and we have to say…..we were captivated! Jude Collins….mate, you stole our hearts!

“You make my heart keep beating, Jude Collins.”

Ree Miller was a beautiful woman inside out. Harrowing events marred a time in her life which brought her to a dangerous place. Sometimes only the gift of music is able to reach far enough inside a person in order to be brought back to what is real, what is true and what is life affirming.

“We are proof that your music has been far more than just an outlet for yourself.”

Hadley Quinn took her time to deliver a powerfully poignant story of a man finding his way back, trying to recapture his love for music after traumatic events rocked his world. Jude’s story felt incredibly real, the characters so true to life it was as though we knew them personally.

“You saved them through your words.”

The story flowed beautifully, never felt rushed and was delivered with emotion and heartfelt honesty. This wasn’t a sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll telling, but more a melodic and sweet story and one thing’s for sure, Ivory was all about the story, with the intimate scenes enhancing the romance, not overtaking it. Sometimes less is more and in this case the physical scenes didn’t come across as mechanical rather Hadley Quinn delivered them with sheer, unbridled deep felt emotion and gosh didn’t our hearts feel it! Yep, we really did LOVE this one!

‘Ladies and gentlemen….your piano man has arrived…..’

What a sweet, insightful, soul-filled, honest, movingly beautiful story this one was for me.

I devoured this lovely piece of writing. I (lived) every word and emotion this author (new to me) made me feel, made me 'live'...

Outstanding!

P.S. I downloaded the playlist and love it as well.

Ivory is a beautifully written tale by the enormously talented Hadley Quinn. The pages pulled me in from the beginning and led me on a lyrical journey of self discovery. 5 magical stars.

I can see that I'm definitely in the minority with this one. It's definitely not that I didn't enjoy reading Jude and Ivory's story -- it just didn't hit the wowza button for me. I liked it enough, but felt it missed its potential for being something really special. The whole plot seemed detached and never really drew me into either of the main characters. Each had their own sad and difficult circumstances they carried into their relationship. I liked the idea of the music, which presented itself as the center of the story in my opinion. The music - not the relationship. That's where it all broke down for me. The feels and the thrill of a new relationship building just never really kicked in and hit the mark leaving me expecting more and needing more from the storyline.

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars- I enjoyed the unique story line. I liked Ree and Jude…just something was missing for me personally. I honestly can't put my finger on what it is. I just didn't feel what I should while reading their story.

I like the music theme very much, and heavy life drama part was good and pretty realistic. However, there's huge amount of typical romance fillers, going around and around, anxiously ruminating kind of thing that I could have done without and which I typically avoid.

5+++stars! Looooooved it!

This was my first book by Hadley Quinn, but definitively not my last, amazing written book about a "lost" rockstar who found us second chance.

This is a standalone book.

This story was beautiful, heartbreaking and inspiring! I love music so this story was super amazing! Jude was a character that is relatable and you felt his emotions deep in your heart and soul. Things happen for a reason, which leads him to The Urchin, a small bar where musicians play. In coming there he meets people who help him find his music again. This is a beautifully written story!

I never get tired of reading Hadley Quinn’s books. She is continually surprising me and I love it. I had no idea what to expect when I started Ivory except that music was involved somehow. This book was a roller coaster of emotions that I never wanted to end. I absolutely loved Jude and Ree. Jude’s backstory was so freaking sad, I just wanted to hug him through most of the book. Ree’s backstory was also sad, but showed her strength and perseverance. She was amazing and in her own way inspired the man who had inspired her. I loved this entire book and especially loved the epilogue, which I felt was perfect.

I loved the role that music played in this book. I’ve been inspired by music my entire life. I love when a song explains how I feel better than I ever could. Or how a song reaches deep inside of me and won’t let go. This book was written so well and I loved every second of it. I am a huge fan of Hadley’s. She’s a must buy for me every time a book comes out, even if I’m lucky enough to read an early copy, like I was with Ivory. I cannot recommend Hadley’s books enough. I want everyone to experience how amazingly deep and meaningful her books are. They are more than entertainment to me and I love that.

Ivory was the music to Jude's healing heart.

3.5 stars. Upon starting this story, one thing was clear; this author is extremely talented. Her words flowed across the page, like a beautiful dance; it was poetic and musical, which was no coincidence seeing as the main character is a musician. This story was also a different take on the rock star cliche; the plot was unique and well thought out. The angst was minimal, with most of it being the characters own inner struggle or emotional pain. The reason this story didn't receive a higher rating, was that for me, the characters didn't connect with me on an emotional level. Though they both have suffered through a difficult life event, the actual events made more of impact on my emotion than the actual characters experiencing it. Jude and Ivory were able to move beyond their pain to find each other, and I did find their story endearing. I would love to experience more of this author's work, as it's obvious she is extremely talented.

This is a deeply emotional, very good read! It's ... different. Told entirely in Jude's first person POV, he is not your typical musician. His story has a lot of heartache and beauty, and we get to journey with him on his path to healing. The relationship he forms w/ Ree is filled with communication and honesty, on both their parts, and being in Jude's head as it develops will truly give you the feels. The pacing feels slow in some parts, but necessary, if that makes sense? I really enjoyed this journey! And the epilogue is beautifully perfect for the story! : )

Soul searching

This book was great. I love Hadley Quinn. Her books are always entertaining. This one was soul searching for me. I loved the broken man, the healed man. I loved his journey to being who he was. This story will be one that sticks with me for awhile. I enjoyed the characters of this story very much.

I absolutely loved the first part of the book. Definite 5 stars for being deep and poetic at the same time.
Not sure what happened then - the second half just seemed to drag on and suddenly it was just a good story. An enjoyable read but nowhere near as moving as during the first part. Made me sad.
