The immensely popular Booktown Mystery series is what put Lorraine Bartlett’s pen name Lorna Barrett on the New York Times Bestseller list, but it’s her talent -- whether writing as Lorna, or L.L. Bartlett, or Lorraine Bartlett -- that keeps her there. This multi-published, Agatha-nominated author pens the exciting Jeff Resnick Mysteries as well as the acclaimed Victoria Square and Lotus Bay Mystery series, and now the Tales of Telenia fantasy saga, and has many short stories and novellas to her name(s). This is a great book for any Jeff Resnick fan. It gives you background details that help you to understand him, his relationship with his brother Richard, and his relationship with his girlfriend, Maggie. I listened to the audio book version (not abridged). It's a fast read. But please read at least two of the Jeff Resnick stories first . [ I do have this in e-book format too but because of problems with my eyes right now am trying to listen to audio versions]
A Jeff Resnick Six-Pack by L.L. Bartlett is a collection of short stories set in contemporary New York. Ever since a nearly fatal head injury from a mugging, Jeff Resnick has "empathic" powers. It's an unpleasant experience (usually downright painful) when he viscerally feels another person's emotions, but enables him to save lives and solve crimes.
Jeff Resnick has moved in with his estranged brother after being injured during a mugging. While he is looking to put his life back together, he discovers that a side effect of his head injury are psychic abilities. Throughout this series, Jeff uses this ability to help resolve police cases, as well as reconnecting with some welcome and unwelcome former family members. These six stories span the gap between some of the longer novels and help enhance our knowledge of Jeff and his family and friends. As a fan of this series, I was already familiar with these short stories, but this anthology gave me the opportunity to reread them, and not only enjoy them again with a new perspective from future events, but also discover things I overlooked first time through. I look forward to the next book in this series. Disclosure: I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Six excellent Jeff Resnick short-stories help fill in details about Jeff and his past. They're both entertaining and emotional, too. If you love the main Jeff Resnick stories, these short-stories are must reads.
Six fantastic Jeff Resnick short stories that bridge the gap between the books put into one set. If you have not read them don't miss out on the suspense!!!!
