The author created this erotic romance with some very welcomed surprises and twists. The heroine, Jade, in the beginning of the story starts struggling with her inner beast, plus, someone's out to kill her. She has an interesting connection to painting, which I particularly adored! The connection between the main characters is very sexy.

I really enjoyed to see the use of greek mythology as part of this series. Some might feel lost with all the characters but since it's a topic that I LOVE, I didn't have any difficulties.

It sets a strong series that will continue to develop in other books. I'm eager to read them.

Hidden by Amy McKinley is the first part in a 5 part book series called “The Fate Series”, it is a fantasy series and each book focuses on one of five sisters; Jade, Ria, Layla, Eos, and Kepri. The sisters have a curse called “The Curse of the Three Fates” that was inflicted on them by the fates themselves. The reason for this was to aggravate the Gods, but more importantly to redirect Zeus’ attentions from them and to stop him from ending a life too early before it’s time due to circumstances only they know about. To break the curse each sister has to find their own key to balance, if they fail then the curse will take them over completely and they will go after the Gods themselves to destroy them. As if all of that wasn’t bad enough, they also have to deal with people who want them dead. The first book of the series focuses on Jade, whose curse deals with her paintings. When she paints, whether it is painting in anger or passion, she has a scene in her mind. As she paints the scene the curse starts to take over and she ends up twisting it, ending it with someone dying. Wanting to try to find a way to break the curse, she speaks to her mother about the prophecy. As they speak they come up with the idea that perhaps the key to her balance is for Jade to find her own mate, the reason for this is because ever since she was little she has been wanting someone of her own. Throughout the story we meet different characters such as Nightmare and Zales, two of the people who want the sisters dead. Zales is pretty much the one in charge of planning and instructs Nightmare to use Jades’ paintings to kill her, it is during one of his attacks that we meet Roen. Roen appears because he knew of their plan to kill Jade and so he came to stop them from succeeding. Since that fight he’s been there for Jade, protecting and teaching her to find the strength she has in herself. In this book, does Jade ever actually find her key to balance? Or is it an ongoing search? Well… you’ll just have to read the book to find out. In total I would have to give this book a rating of 4 out of 5. The story line and the idea of bringing in the Gods and having the Seers create a curse to get Zeus off their backs is interesting, and the series has the potential to be a very good read. The only real criticism I have is that there are some parts where the story is slow paced, and there are some grammatical errors where it can cause some confusion until one just passes it by.

This book had it all!
A strong and fierce heroine, a fearless hero, action, romance, passion, gods, demons, underworld creatures, and the list goes on and on...

Right from the very beginning I felt the excitement build up!
Jade is overwhelmed by the power that starts coursing through her while painting! This has happened before, and it didn't turn out in a nice way! But, her powers don't stop there. She senses the ill intentions of a demon that has approached the King, her step-father demon, and attacks him, even if he is of her own species.

But, what species is that?
Jade is half demon and half goddess, and part of a set of quintuplets that were cursed by the Fates. A prophecy was cast upon them, that they are destined to kill the Gods. This curse set Zeus off into hunting them, through Oneiroi, who can track people through their dreams, and step into different realms.

At the same time, Jade, after hundreds of years of being hunted, forced to loneliness and futile search of her mate, or any kind of romantic relationship for that matter, has started giving up her hopes! Until she stumbles upon a group of five Worr demons, who are fierce enough to be the only ones able to defeat Oneiroi! One of them is also destined to be her mate!

But, nothing proves to be easy for them. One mistake brings her closer to Nightmare, the worst of the Oneiroi.

Will Roen, her Worr mate, be able to save her now that he knows who she is, or is Jade's fate already sealed?

This book contained so much action and so many events took place, that I couldn't manage to get my attention off of the story! The pages flew by so easily!

I loved the majority of the characters, even the bad ones, with all their personalities' elements! Jade was a fierce heroine I gladly identified with, and Roen was oh-so-strong-and-handsome and focused on his quest to release Jade!

Another aspect of this story I loved, was the fact that it referred to the Greek mythology, and very accurately, I might also add! Being Greek myself, I grew up with stories of the Olympian Gods and their adventures, so I found myself instantly drawn to both the plot and the characters! And, I loved every minute of it!

All in all, 5 stars to an awesome story that had everything, from Olympian Gods, semi-gods and demons, to intensity, passion and so much action!

This is the first book in the Five Fates series.

The book focuses on Jade, a demigoddess who was cursed by the Fates, along with her four sisters. Her and her sisters are hidden on Earth in an effort to avoid the Oneiroi, which are dream gods, sent by Zeus to destroy Jade and her sisters, in order to prevent a long dormant prophecy from coming to pass.

Jade has been experiencing changes in her, wherein she feels as if she is losing herself to an inner beast. She loves to paint, however, her paintings have taken on a darker tone and she soon realizes that the violence represented in her paintings are actual crimes happening in the city she lives in.

When Jade is careless one night and loses her protection while she sleeps, one of the Oneiroi, Nightmare, locates Jade in her sleep and is now able to track her. Jade now has to go on the run and try and find clues to a clan of warriors that may be able to protect Jade and her sisters from the Oneiroi. In her pursuit for answers, she comes across a cave that has a mural displaying fierce warriors. She is drawn to one warrior in particular. While she is in the cave, Nightmare finds her and takes her to different dream realms, where she is held captive.

Roen, a Worr demon known for being a fierce warrior against the Oneiroi sees a woman reaching out for him but she is just out of his reach. He doesn't understand how this is happening before his eyes, as no one is able to breach the realm of the Worr demons. Before she disappears, he is able to catch her scent and realizes she is his mate. He is enraged when he sees Nightmare take his mate. He is determined to find her and make Nightmare pay for what he has done. Roen gathers his cousins, who are also fierce warriors and does into the dream realms in search of his mate.

Together Jade and Roen hope to be able to unlock the connection they have and find a way to defeat the curse that Jade seems to be unable to run away from.

This story from the start had me hooked. I absolutely love Greek mythology and I found the author's story enthralling. There is so much detail in the story, that at times, I did find it hard to keep up. However, I did not feel that took away anything from the story itself. Jade and Roen were perfectly matched, and complimented each other very well. I look forward to reading more in the Five Fates series.

This has got to be one of the best reads so far for me that deals with Greek mythology. The author has given us a strong, fierce but caring heroine that has to work through a curse that was put on her and her sisters. We even had a very good looking and strong male present with Roen who is so set on helping Jade get released from this curse. This book had all the elements action, passion and romance that will keep you glued to every page. The flow of the read was so smooth and keep me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next. This was my first read from this author and I am so glad that I was introduced to her work.

I loved this book from the very first time I read it. Jade and Roen's story is a fun adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed getting to experience Jade's journey and watching her struggle to fight the inner evil crouching inside her. Plus, Roen is just hot, hot, hot! McKinley definitely ups the heat factor with this couple! :) The added mythology aspect of it just rounded the story out and made it a super fun read. Definitely a must read. And I'm looking forward to reading book two!

"Hidden" by Amy McKinley is an erotic paranormal romance that centers on one of five sister demigoddesses who have been targeted because they have been cursed by the Fates to be a threat to the gods. Jade is the first of them to have her beast awakening, seen through the effects of her paintings. She has to find her balance before the beast takes over completely, but she never suspects the major role a Worr demon named Roen will play in her struggle against the Oneiroi who seek to kill her. Finding a way to deal with Jade’s challenges and keep her alive long enough to explore the attraction between her and Roen is complicated, especially since there are so many beings who have a vested interest in the outcome, and not everyone wants the same result.

This paranormal story is a fascinating twist on the concept of the Olympic gods and their relationships with various generations of offspring. It was startling to realize that this very sensual and intense relationship that is unfolding between two very strong personalities who each have remarkable talents reflects the events taking place between non-human beings. The author does a wonderful job of personifying many of the beings that are normally seen only in myths, and the story provides intriguing insights on the conflicts between the various factions. There are great twists, such as Jade having a ‘step-demon’ in her life who is wonderfully protective of all of the daughters that came with the female he married, her gift that allows her to effect changes, and the motivation for the Oneroi Nightmare’s actions.

I think that this is theoretically the introductory tale to a series that features all five of the sisters, and as such, it is chock full of details that can be somewhat overwhelming, because there are so many conflicts and opposing factions that one almost needs a diagram to keep track of alliances and connections. The action gets a little jerky and chaotic because so many different facets are included and I suspect that things would be better if the story was a little longer so that events were able to unfold more sequentially. I am a little puzzled because it seems that two different pantheons are involved, as I thought that Helios and Apollo were the Greek and Latin names for the same deity but two different individuals are cited in this story, yet Helios is referred to as a god instead of a Titan. There are multiple strings dangling that hopefully will be addressed in future stories, and perhaps a brief index will also be included with subsequent tales to assist in keeping track of who each character is. This is a refreshingly novel look at some of the beings who populate traditional mythology and an entertaining introduction to a multiplicity of mysteries.

Hidden by Amy Mckinley is the first book released in a up and coming series called Five Fates. The focus of this book is on the first of five sisters, Jade. The basics of this book are presented early on which helps tremendously because there is all kinds of action going on.

Jade and her sisters are half demon and half goddess ( apparently this is pretty rare). The world that these characters live is one of Ancient Greek gods and goddesses and the Fates have once again been characterized as bitter old hags that constantly rummage around in peoples lives.

Due to their parents and the potential power they will eventually develop, all five sisters have been hiding since birth to escape a group of dream gods that search to hunt and kill them. Seriously, the way these guys work is pretty scary. The idea that someone uses your unconscious state to locate and then torture and murder you is uncomfortable to say the least. A curse placed on them by the Fates calls for them to transition into evil, pretty much unstoppable killing machines once the curse reaches maturity unless they can find their ” balance”. Oh super fun right? Lets curse you and leave you a riddle ( literally) to use to figure out how to stop yourself from killing everyone you love and everyone else around you.

Jade and her sisters are hidden well but are running out of time to solve the riddle before the worst happens and they start to change. In an attempt to find some answers, Jade sets out to find an illusive and forgotten clan of warrior demons that she believes can help protect her from the Oneiroi ( the dream gods). One such warrior, Roen, is led into Jade’s life and it is forever changed. The chemistry between these two is pretty intense. Roen is definitely an Alpha male ( we all know I love a good Alpha) and Jade isn’t too much of a damsel in distress. There were a few scenes that really sucked me in head first. The loss that exists in this book is pretty heart wrenching and the violence described that the characters experience is so unfair at times you have to wonder if they are ever going to catch a break. There is no cliffhanger when it comes to Roen and Jade but there is room left in the story that promises more books to come. The book leaves all five of the sisters fates open and it leads us to believe each book will follow a different sister. The writing was really smooth and for being so busy the story flowed well. I would recommend to YA and mature teens. I don’t really feel like the wait for the next installment will be a painful one, this story gave you just enough to where you aren’t going to go through a nervous breakdown waiting but you still will find yourself searching for the release date more than once.

This first installment of the Five Fates series finds Jade, a half demon-half goddess attempting to navigate and break the curse her and her four sisters were given at the time of their birth. Once she realizes the prophecy has been activated within her, her next move is to attempt to keep further activation as far away from her sisters as she possibly can. After exploring the caves of California for clues pertaining to this prophecy, ones she only experienced through her artistic powers, Jade encounters Roen, a demon from a secret but friendly tribe. Together, they begin their journey to end the prophecy and break the curse once and for all. Can Jade win? Can Roen and his connections be the salvation this family needs? This fast paced journey will leave you craving answers and excited to see what’s in store for the characters in the future.

I liked it! It wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read but there were so many different elements of the story that I found myself wondering about what each character was going to do next. Jade’s personality and development is incredibly interesting and I was excited to see that the author stepped slightly out of the box with regards to what she could accomplish with her powers. The god and goddess characters aren’t typical, which was something that I really liked. The tone of this book is aggressive mixed with concern mixed with love mixed with lust.

The biggest issue I had with this book is that the pace was entirely way too rushed. Roen’s personality was very sharp, very overbearing and Jade seemed almost the opposite. I kept feeling like I wanted to push the story away and then bring it back, and then push it away again. Some of the material seemed slapped together and didn’t connect at all. I know this story has more to be written but I feel like I was left with way too many unanswered questions, too many loose ends and not enough explanation of the elements present. I wanted more, but on the other hand, it could be that is exactly what the author wanted to convey, to make you want to come back.

Overall, this was a fairly interesting and intriguing book that offers multiple avenues of plot line to explore. One important thing to be aware of is that it seems like this is Amy’s first foray into writing novels (at least according to her website). She really has nowhere else to go but up. She has developed a slightly complex world with many secondary characters to get involved with and will quickly pull you into her scattered maze of glamor, temptation, and imagination.

4 and a half stars

Hidden is the first book in the Five Fates series by Amy McKinley. This book is so much more than an Erotic Paranormal Romance- it has action, suspense, drama, passion, mythology, fantasy and adventure.
In the book we meet Jade, an immortal Demi-Goddess (half-demon and half-goddess); who is strong and brave, a talented painter, a skilled fighter, gifted in the art of magic and exotically sexy. She, along with her four sister, were cursed by the ‘Fates’ when they were born. Now, because of the prophecy and the threat the sisters pose to the Gods- they are being hunted by the Oneiroi, who are hell-bent on their destruction. The Oneiroi are Dream Gods who can track and hunt anyone through their dreams.
As the curse starts to awaken, Jade begins to lose control of the ‘darkness’ inside her, putting her and her family’s lives in danger. Jade has to discover the ‘key’ to the prophecy and find her ‘balance’, so she can stop the ‘darkness’ from taking over. She is desperately running out of time.
While following some leads to breaking the curse, Jade encounters Roen, a fierce warrior, a Worr Demon whose tribe live in a hidden realm. Roen is tall, strong, powerful and intense- with long black hair and gleaming blue eyes. Did I mention Hot- knee trembling, lip quivering, panty melting HOT! The immediate and intense chemistry between the two is palpable. Roen feels an overwhelming attraction and undeniable connection to Jade and is compelled to help her break the curse and change her fate.
Amy McKinley has produced a refreshingly original story that was fast paced and flowed well, with lots of action- a well written book that had me so engrossed in the story that I flew through the pages.
This book has so many characters and locations in it- that I thought it may have benefited from an index to help keep track of the characters and who they are. The fact there was no index, didn’t diminish the story in any way- I just felt it would have added more to my experience.
There is no actual cliff hanger ending to the story, but Amy McKinley has written it in such a way that has led me to believe that the action and adventure will continue in the next book, so we can discover what the characters will have in store for them. I really can’t wait to read the next book and resume the story. This book is a superb start to what I think will be an incredible series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Amy McKinley’s Five Fates series centres on the lives of supernatural female quintuplets. With a god for a father and a darkness demon for a mother, each girl possesses a potent cocktail of magical potential; a potential feared by none other than Zeus himself. Plagued by a mysterious prophecy telling of the fall of gods at the hands of the five, Zeus sets out to destroy the sisters and secure his safety. However, the girls have managed to remain hidden. The girls’ security is threatened when Jade, one of the quints and the heroine of Hidden, missteps. Jade’s misfortune, however, also becomes her salvation when Roen, a member of an obscure demonic tribe, provides Jade protection, training, and romance.
Hidden is a rather vast series opener teeming with mythological context, plot, and characterization. It’s incredibly imaginative, but at times overly dense. Descriptions of Nightmare’ s dreamscapes or Jade’s magical paintings, while creative, were puzzling. I enjoyed the novel’s set up. Ever eager to learn, I brushed up on my Greek mythology and researched the cast of established characters. However, I found a lot of the book’s description to be rather confusing, including the prophecy that propels the plot. I like the fullness of characters; the bad guys aren’t one dimensional, but rather both good and bad with back stories and varied motivation. This will lead to interesting developments in future books.
Ultimately, my reading experience stalled out a bit with this book, particularly during the last half. I didn’t love Jade as a main character and Roen was pretty typical alpha male. Their romance was a foregone conclusion. I give McKinley points for trying something different; while the characters are humanoid, they retain demonic physical characteristics. Roen is described as having black horns, and Jade claws. While this doesn’t appeal to me personally, as I don’t find horns and claws sexy, it’s different and I admire that. The set up in Hidden is long and the conclusion comes swift, and without much revelation. I appreciate this is often the curse of a series opener and so I’m curious to see what’s coming in the world of the Five Fates.

“Hidden” is book one of the Five Fates Series by Amy McKinley. In this book we meet the first sister, Jade and her mate, Roen. Jade is a demi-goddess and one of five sisters that were prophesied by The Fates to bring trouble to Zeus and the other gods. The Fates’ curse causes Jade to feel like a darkness is taking over her very soul and using her to take human souls through prophetic paintings that she can reach through and affect the paintings subjects. The prophesy states that if she and her sisters can find a balance, they will fulfill the prophesy and be free. Jade has been hunted by a group called the Oneiroi, more specifically one called Nightmare who can affect Jade’s dreams and hunts her in her sleep. One night, Jade paints a scene with a group of demons in a cave and finds out they could be the key to helping her find her balance so she sets out to find these demons. In the process of searching for them, Nightmare tracks Jade just as she is reaching through to the one demon that caught her eye, Roen. Nightmare drags Jade through the dream world and Roen and his fellow demons try to track her down. Roen is a war demon descended from Nysem, son of Nyx. He has waited hundreds of years to find his mate and is sure he finally found her. He must fight Nightmare, Roen’s uncle, to save Jade from certain death. Can these two find peace in one another and free Jade from the prophesy? This was a very different book than ones I’ve read recently. Definitely not your average love story! I liked the gods and goddesses aspect of the story as I’ve always held an interest in Greek mythology. That being said I felt like the book was overly complex. I understand the author is building a world that is based off mythology, but the characters and their plights were a little hard to follow. This is a book that could do well from a re-edit and I’d need to reread it to fully absorb all the details it gives. This book is also not for the faint of heart. There are some vivid and gory details involving Jade’s battles with Nightmare and I had a hard time stomaching the grislier bits. All in all, a good story though! So I give “Hidden” 3.5 stars.

This book was given to me for an honest review

3 stars

I like getting involved in the fantasy life of a book and this book was good. It had everything that you look for. Mates, fights, drama, family issues, you name it, it was there. I liked how it dove into different realms. It wasn't held up in the human realm, it had many varying areas that the book went into. Good and Evil are always an in issue in most fantasy books so making one of the characters part good and part bad was a great way to start the book. Having a prophecy play into the story line was good and involving a family not just one person in the prophecy made it that much better. I think an author has a harder time writing these types of books because its fantasy, although it sounds like it is easy they have to come up with different ways to make it "pop" for their readers. This book did give me that. I liked all the alpha dominance in the book and how the sisters started coming into their own, and discovering what the prophecy detailed. I thought the whole idea was good as a whole. It does end cliffhangery. You know there is going to more to learn in the next book to come.

Jade was a good character. She needs to learn about the prophecy and she doesn't want to be evil. She also wants to find her mate, so when her powers come full force she finds what she is looking for. I like the the alphaness of her, she is strong and powerful and she grows throughout the book. Roen, her mate is the perfect match for her. He is as strong as her and he protects what is his. I liked that about them together. It comes together well during the book.

At times, I thought there was too much going on, my head spun for a bit. Trying to keep up with all the names and side stories going on swam in my head, it became a little frustrating at times. I think there was a little too much going on in this book and I'm hoping the next book slows down a bit. At times, I skipped over parts because I felt it wasn't needed for the story, trying to keep on the path of where the story was going was my whole purpose. I enjoyed the author and I will be continuing to the next book to see what happens.

Their mother and stepfather are very protective of the girls. Which they have a good reason to do so. They girls have been cursed since birth.
Jade has successfully avoided Oneiroi , the dream Gods. Who is determined on her destruction until the prophecy. He and the others will stop at nothing to get what they want and deserve. Until…. Roen
Roen is known for his battles against the Oneiroi. He is quite the recluse Worr demon. But he was summoned to protect Jade at all costs.
Roen and Jade have an instant connection and an attraction to one another. It's undeniable to everyone…. they are each other's mates. But can they see it before it's too late?? Can Jade finally find the love she's been earning and craving for??

I give Hidden, book one of the Fates series, by Amy McKinley 4 stars

Jade is half-demon, half-goddess. She is one of quintuplet girls who it is said will fulfill their destiny and bring down the gods. She has lived her whole life in hiding, trying to keep out of the sights of the Oneiroi, the dream gods wanting to destroy the sisters and keep the gods safe. She just wants to find her soul mate like her mom. But she can’t tell her suitors who and what she is. Plus, what about the darkness that seems to want to consume her?

Roen is a Worr demon, a clan of demons that live hidden and remote. He longs for a mate, but so far has had no luck. Then his mother foresees a mate for him, but he must remain there, she is meant to find him. As a clan of exquisite warriors, sitting and waiting is not something he is used to. But it is worth it when she shows up.

Jade has a vision of where her mate is and goes on a search for him. Their eyes meet and then she is taken away from him….

Can Roen save and keep Jade safe? Together, will they be able to defeat those hunting her and destroy the prophecy?

I enjoyed this story, it is well written and entertaining. It seemed to me that in the beginning it was all about a girl longing for a boy. While I understand this, it’s not really something I usually read. But this book kept surprising me. It is much more complex, adding adventure and even some horror elements after we meet the players. It also kept me guessing, adding elements and twists I was not expecting. Not to mention that the characters are well written and enjoyable. You can tell there will be much more going on with this series. I definitely recommend this book and series.

Well, what can I say, if you want to read a book that has Greek mythology with a hint of erotica and fantasy then this is your book! This book contains demon’s, God’s, poison dart throwing monkeys (yes you heard me correctly ), a lion with a mane of snakes ..the list goes on! So many characters that you will meet as the story goes on!
The story follows Jade, our heroine. A demi god whose father is a god and a mother who is a demon. She is one of quintuple sisters called Ria, Layla, Eos and Kepri. The girls have been bestowed with a curse from birth called “The Curse Of Three Fates” which was inflicted on them by the fate themselves. This was to aggravate the gods to draw away Zeus’attention from them. To break the curse the sisters, must find their balance.
The first book (as this story is 1 of a series) focuses on Jade whose curse lies within her paintings. As she paints, the curse takes over and usually it ends up with someone dying (maybe she should give up painting and find a new hobby eh?)
Trying to find a way of breaking the curse, she speaks to her mother and they come up with an idea for Jade to find her mate as she has longed for someone to call her own.
Nightmare and Zale are the baddies of our story and they use Jade’s paintings as a way to kill her (another reason why she should maybe get a new hobby?). They are demons that also use Jade’s dreams to get to her.
The hero of the story Roen knows of Zale and Nightmares plan to kill Jade and will do anything he can to protect her.
I loved the Greek mythology used in this story as it kept to the facts. Loved the combination of a strong and fierce heroine and the fearless hero who fight against the underworld creatures

Hidden (Five Fates Book 1)
By: Amy McKinley
5 out of 5 stars

The story of Hidden (Five Fates Book 1) by Amy McKinley is a paranormal/fantasy romance. Jade is a half-demon, half-goddess who is a paw in an epic battle among the gods. She and her sisters are hidden on Earth from the Oneiroi, the dream gods, who will stop at nothing to destroy both her and her sisters. Then a prophecy that was long dormant awakens an evil within her. Roen is a reclusive Warr demon known for his battles with the Oneiroi. When he meets Jade he knows that she is his fated mate. Can he keep her safe from the Oneiroi? Once the prophecy is awakened is there any chance to change Jade’s fate?

This is an awesome story. Not only do you have demons, goddesses, witches and all sorts of other creatures, there are also the gods such as Hades and Zeus to deal with. With each chapter of this book you peel back the many layers of prophecy and history, not to mention Jade’s really cool new powers. Being able to hop from dream to dream seem like a fun way to spend the day as long as you don’t have a creature called Nightmare hopping or tearing his way through to kill you. There are a lot of characters in this story. A lot of times I have to keep a scorecard of everyone and how they fit in. It is a lot easier than trying to go back to where you think you remember reading about them. I truly enjoyed the different worlds that are visited and found the details of each of them and their inhabitants fascinating.

If you love fantasy, romance and really awesome characters you have to read this book. There are dark themes, adult situations and a romance that keeps getting hotter every chapter. I would suggest this book for anyone 18 years or older.

Cursed since birth, hunted by gods, and desperate for love—Jade never stood a chance.

Half-demon, half-goddess, Jade’s fate makes her a pawn in an epic battle among the gods. Hidden on Earth with her sisters, she successfully avoids the Oneiroi—the dream gods—bent on her destruction until the prophecy, long dormant, awakens a dark shadow within her.
This is a fantasyl, erotic romance story with as many twists and turns as a roller coaster
This story will pull you in right from the very beginning you will feel Jade's struggle to fight the evil inner demons and then add in the super hot Roen and the heat factor is amazing
This story also has some mythology aspects added into it that just helps to mesh everything together.
Jade is a fierce but actually caring character that is dealing with a curse that was put on her and her five sisters, making them half demon and half goddess, definatelly a interesting combination to go through ones life with.
There are many gods and demons in this story right from Greek mythology which gives this story a fast pace feel with adventure, fun and plenty of action.
I loved the immediate chemistry that the talented author Amy McKinley brings to life between Jade and Roen, as they journey to try to be together and break the curse so that Jade's fate can be changed.
I really enjoyed the ending, it was not a definite cliff hanger but it definately will leave you wondering what is going to happen next with Jades story and waiting for the next book in this amazing new series to see which fascinating sister is next to tell her story.

I liked this story!!!! The title was perfect to describe the basis to the story. The author described each scene really well, where I was able to see what was going on with Jade. I was able to follow along for the most part when reading about specific demons and gods and what they had to do with Jade. I was also able to follow along pretty well when the story would switch from world to next. I thought the characters of book meshed nicely with the story. A sense of suspense was written well into the story always keeping me interested to find out if Jade and her sisters would find a solution the prophecy. I also noticed a bit of humor in the story, which was awesome!! Some of best parts of the book included some of Jade’s power coming from her ability to paint and the kind of relationship she developed with her new family!!

Jade was able to find “balance” in her life with the help of her new family. She found someone that would fight alongside her no matter what life threw at them. That someone was Roen, who helped Jade to become stronger and to focus her powers not to hurt her family. I thought it was romantic how much Roen tried to protect and defend Jade against all the evil demons and gods.

The book good with a sweet story of two individuals destined to be with each other. The story was a bit slow but the suspense of what was going to happen to Jade kept me reading to the next page. I liked that there was some sort of closer for Jade but the story also eluded to the next book which is fun. I am giving this book a solid 4 stars!!!

I am giving this book 4 stars.
The beginning of the book for me was very confusing. But as soon as I read into it I was able to dive in. The complex characters are very well detailed. I immediately fell in love with characters and even grew to love some of the characters I thought were villains. From the beginning you follow Jade the main character as she struggles with the demons inside her. She was cursed by the fates along with her sisters. Jade is the first to feel this sort of unraveling of her curse. She has to go in search of the answer to the fates riddle. She thinks that what she seeks is love and when she sees a picture of a worr demon she thinks she has found her mate and that he can keep her and her sisters from the Oneiroi. The Oneiroi are constantly searching for the sisters. They have a lot to lose if they don't find them. Nightmare the Oneiroi that searches them out through dreams finally breaks through and finds jade. Barely escaping she makes it away to search for protection. She ends up back in dream realm with nightmare and he tracks her through a multitude of areas before dumping her in a horrible place. Meanwhile Roan the Worr demon had came across Jade in a dream. He wakes up and goes to his parents his mother explains she is his soul mate. He is determined to find her and keep her safe from the Oneiroi. This book was such an epic journey from start to finish. I was so pleased with the Greek mythology aspect and the overall unique story. I can not wait to read the second!

Hidden by Amy McKinley is the first book in the Five Fates Series. This series tells the story of a set of quintuplets cursed at birth. This book tells the story of Jade, a half-demon and half-goddess who has been cursed since birth along with her four sisters. She is in hiding from the (Oneiroi—dream Gods) bent on her destruction due to a prophecy from the Fates. She is fighting against the growing darkness inside while trying to change her fate. She finds it harder and harder to push the darkness away and longs for a simpler life of love and family.

Roen is a Worr demon known for his battles against the Oneiroi. He is drawn to Jade and appoints himself her protector. They have an instant connection and attraction that is hard to deny. Jade and Roen must work together to find the key to changing her fate and void the prophecy that threatens her very existence.

This is a great start to a new series. Ms. McKinley presents a unique series of worlds. Her characters are well written and the story line has several interesting twists and turns. The non-human element of this story is not your typical fairies and fantasy creatures. She also presents a more humanized version of the Oneiroi and the other Gods of the Pantheon that is unusual and refreshing. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next story in this series. This is the first story I have read by this author, but will definitely not be the last.

The three fates had cursed Jade and her sisters.. Jade’s stepfather Xavior was King of the Trynid demons. Aiesa is Jade’s mom and Jade has went to her to help Jade deal with the curse the fates put on her and her sisters. Also Jade turned to Aiesa for the changes she was already going through. The sisters had to find the key or the family would pay the full price. The key was balance. Jade described what was going on in her as being seduced by something that was pure evil.Jade had started killing humans. Jade and her sister’s father was Helios who was a God. But the other Gods sent the Oneiroi on the girls - the Oneiroi were the dream Gods. The girls had been gifted the Eye - the magical amber Helios gave the girls to keep them safe while they slept. Jade could feel something coming but what was that something ? The prophecy stated Jade and her sisters were to kill the gods and Goddesses even though they were ½ Godess themselves. Roen is Jade’s Worr demon mate. Will he be able to save Jade?
I liked this story a lot. It was really good, had plenty of action. It also talks of hope that evil won’t win in the case of jade and her sisters. This book had me from the first page until the last. I loved the characters in this story especially Jade and all the ups and downs she went through. I recommend.
I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

What's the thing you want most in a great book? Love? Drama? a great hero or heroin? Surprise, mhm, how about a sexy guy or girl? Hidden has all of the above and more!
Jade is a Demi Goddess / Demon, She is the daughter of a hot and quick love affair, like so many demi gods of her time, sexy, strong, young. She is also hunted by warriors that zues has hired to kill her and her five sisters. They have remained hidden in the human realm for many years, hundreds to be exact. Born of a set of five a prophecy tells that jade and her sisters will be the end of the gods.
But Jade does not want to destroy the gods of olypmus, she wants what every woman hot or cold blooded wants ... Love, A mate someone to love and except her curse and all.
Zues is fearful of these five women though, So fearful he has gone as far as kidnapping one of the warriors mates. Nightmare would, will do anything to get his zoey back. He will not stop until the five sisters are dead.
Now this is where it gets a little more complicated, Jade has found a mate, a tall dark, horned demon of a hidden clan. This demon is the nephew of none other than nightmare. Reon will not let anything happen to his mate at the hands of his ghoulish uncle. So drama I would say we have plenty of that going on.Love in spades, sex appeal, um yummy yes, you go give it a chance, it is a great book ENJOY!

This book is the first in the 5 book series.

Demons, Goddesses and Fates add a little Hades and see where you end up. Paranormal fun at its finest. Keep an eye out for the spiders!

Jade one of a set of quintuplets, Demigoddess half demon, half goddess. She has a great family and a wonderful stepfather. She loves to paint and learn the arts. In hiding in a different dimension to keep her safe. Unable to sleep due to Nightmare.

Roen a Worr Demon, has waited forever to find his true mate. When his is accidently touched by his mate. But he must wait for her to find him. If he goes after her, he will mess with the Fates. Has a strong family, is close to them all.

Hidden is well written and fun to read. Action packed, suspenseful, mysterious and with a strong heroine. So nice to read a book with a strong woman, and a stronger man to support her. Amy McKinley really went all out in this story. Watching Jade and Roen learning to work together was a treat in this story. This book draws you in and keeps you there. I am looking forward to read the rest of this series. This book is highly recommended if you love to read about Demons and Goddesses. It's hard to talk about this book and keep from giving away spoilers. I can only say it is a must read, I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.

I have always liked reading Greek Mythology. I find some of them down right funny how they act like spoiled children. So, reading Hidden was like diving right into their world again in a new and modern spin on it. This is not your typical spin on the classic and I found it to be quite refreshing and innovative. It takes just a small portion of the mythology, the infamous Prophecy and shows what can happen when you take those things too seriously.
Jade is a powerful demon goddess who is struggling to accept her part in the prophecy as it starts to unfold. It is now a race to protect her sisters and herself while figuring out how to find the balance that may save them all. She meets Roen, possibly her answer to the riddle, while fighting for her life. If Roen is on her side it seems that she may just succeed, but not easily. This has all the major players you would expect making waves and causing hardships for Jade and her family.
I found this to a riveting and engrossing story that had me gripped from the first page. The adventure that I got to accompany these characters on was one of the best I have taken in a long time. This is the first book in a series that I am looking forward to devouring as fast as they can be published. I will say that I am officially hooked on this great series.

Hidden is the first book in the Five Fates series. This story is set between the real world and the underworld. Jade is not your average girl, she is half goodness and half demon. She wants to find her soulmate but soon realizes that fate just may stop her from finding it. She may be half Goddess and truly wants to see good in the world but her demon side gets way out of control. Jade also happens to be in hiding with her sister, they are trying to avoid the Oneri which are the dream gods. While attempting to go between dreams she encounters Nightmare, he is a demon who has only one mission to kill Jade. In comes Roen, a Word demon who purpose in life is to protect Jade. So when she gets captured he comes to save her. Even though he saves her she is still leery to trust him and Roen will do anything and everything to gain her trust. He is determined to protect her from the Oneri and Nightmare who are still on the hunt for Jade. Will she ever find her balance and her true love?
Amy’s attention to detail and background set the stage for a love story beyond this realm of the world. I loved how Jade was battling herself. Much like regular humans do. We have a good and bad side to us all and one usually wins over the other.
I look forward to the other books in this series.

Hidden is the first book by Amy McKinley that I have read and I have to say that I am intrigued to learn more about this supernatural world that she creates. Hidden is book 1 of this series and it revolves around Roen and Jade. Jade is one of five sisters that have a deadly prophecy running their life. The fates made it so that the sisters either had to find their balance or kill everyone they love. Jade is starting to realize that her time is getting close and she has to find her balance. When her sister comes across some murals, Jade thinks that the sexy Worr demon in the mural may be part of her destiny. She takes off to search for him and barely escapes the capture by Nightmare. Roen knows as soon as he wakes up one morning that everything is about life is getting ready to change. When Jade literally comes running to him from nowhere, he knows in that instant that we will spend the rest of his life keeping her safe. What he doesn’t yet know is that her future has already been decided. Will he be able to help her in the fight for her life or will he endanger it more?
My only issue with the entire book is that I wanted it to move along faster but other than that I loved it. I am starting on the second one now and I can’t wait to get back into this magical world.

Hidden by Amy McKinley is the first book in the Five Fates series. It is also the first book I've read from this author. It is a story about how fate plays a huge part in one girl's life, and her journey on looking for her soulmate. Ms. McKinley weaves an amazing tale with her own spin on Greek mythology, and creating a fantasy world that leaves you wanting more.

Knowing that her and her sisters have been cursed since birth, Jade, who is half goddess-half demon tries to find balance in her life. It is the only way to break the curse against her. But she struggles daily with her demon side and needs to fight it. While hiding with her sisters on Earth, she learns of a Worr demon named Roen. She thinks he might be the one to not only help find her balance, but to protect her from the five demons that are after her and her sisters. The Oneiroi were created to kill all 5, but Jade believes Roen and his brothers will be able to beat them. Will Roen be the one to save her and complete her? You'll just have to read to find out!

I couldn't not put this book down-I loved it! It had amazing characters that you couldn't help but love and a great twist on Greek mythology. I can't wait to dive into book 2.

Jade is a demi-goddess - she has a god for a father and a demon for a mother. Not only that, but she has a curse from the Fates hanging over her and the Oneiroi hunting her. Jade isn't alone in this though, her four sisters share the curse and the circumstances. She can feel the darkness inside her growing and gaining control as the curse starts to awaken. She needs to find her 'balance' if she is in any way going to stop it from taking her over.

This is a story that manages to be steamy whilst not actually describing anything in too much detail. There is lots of action as Nightmare - one of the Oneiroi - finds Jade and takes her to his realm. Fighting demons, zombies, poison-dart throwing monkeys, it's all in here.

Smoothly written and with a fast but flowing pace, this is one to enjoy and from all indications, is the first of the series. Recommended.

* I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in return for a fair and honest review. *
