Snake Wilton has shed his white skin. Now using his boy name of Ouray, arrow, he sets out to see more of the famous sites the old Indian Itza-Chu had described to him.
Trying to avoid capture demands constant vigilance. When Ouray steals a wild, young horse, the first of many pursuers finds his trail. While he waits for those who follow, the big Apache searches for the wondrous places, seeking to arm himself with more of the ghost warrior magic. Although he is seeking peace, Ouray is always ready to fight for his freedom.
After the fight leads him to change direction, he surprises white ranchers raiding a Navajo camp. When he leaves, it is not alone. On this journey, he earns his warrior name.
