Adventures in Blind Dating #1

It Happened One Night

Rate this book
Who has time for dating these days? Certainly not struggling entrepreneur Paisley Jameson, who has way too much on her plate to pay any real attention to her shriveling social life. And not mechanic Joe Spencer either, who has a lot on his mind with both the family business and family in general. But neither can say no to the beloved mutual acquaintance who wants to set them both up on a blind date.

Which is too bad, because they both kind of wish they had said no when they show up for the dinner date and realize they've met before--and not under happy circumstances.

But fate seems determined to prove that they're not so wrong for each other after all, because in spite of the intentions of both Paisley and Joe to nip this whole unfortunate blind date thing in the bud and go their separate ways, events transpire to keep them together for an evening involving muggers, foot-chases, and even a high-speed trip to the ER--

And that's all before dessert.

Dating: it's not for wimps…

Well, this was disappointing. After griping that Feldman's stories are expensive on a dollars per minute basis I found a series that are on Kindle Unlimited. And since I liked the other two of hers I'd read, I thought I'd give this a shot.

Sadly, this didn't work for me. The entire story is a series of amazing coincidences that throw the two together long enough to overcome their initial bad first impressions. The thing is, the events, while certainly driving them to work together, also never provide enough time for them to actually bridge the gap. Not believably, at any rate.

So it was too much contrivance and I don't think Feldman actually managed to show them as compatible beyond not being jerks when people needed help. Also, at least some of the action was way, way too broadly played even if you give the contrivance of happening at all a pass. The whole episode with the woman in labor was just farce with the laws of physics suspended for the duration.

Anyway, I finished the story (because it's so short you hardly have time to dnf), but I'd have preferred if I'd just skipped it altogether...

A note about Chaste: Yeah, it's chaste. It's mostly a single date, so it's not like there's time for anything else. Frankly, the kiss wasn't that great, though that's probably because I didn't buy the whole setup as a basis.

Refreshingly fun and sweet, It Happened One Night is the start of a wonderful new series by Christine S. Feldman.

What happens when a meddling elderly neighbor and friends decides to play match maker…all kinds of mayhem…

This is a romantic comedy that shouldn’t be missed. Easy, quick and extremely entertaining, I found myself pulled into Feldman’s storytelling. It isn’t overly complicated, but sometime that is just what you need…an endearing novella that packs plenty of humor and romance.

I received this copy of It Happened One Night from Christine S. Feldman in exchange for a honest review.

It Happened One Night was a fast-paced and hilarious read. It's one of those books you just want to keep on reading because it's so good. I think it's even my favorite by Christine S. Feldman so far. Her books just keep getting better and better!

This story is about Paisley Jameson and Joe Spencer who have been set on a blind date by an old woman who just won't take no for an answer. Arriving on the blind date Paisley and Joe realize they have met before, which just like the synopsis says, was not under the best circumstances. Because of this Paisley as well as Joe have the intention of going their seperate ways but it seems like fate has some more in store for their disaster date.

This book was so funny I had to laugh out loud a few times. I just love how Paisley and Joe couldn't seem to catch a break on their date. But that's what made it so hilarious.

I really liked both Paisley and Joe as main characers. They were both very different. Joe being a mechanic and Paisley starting her own business. But opposites do attract and it shows in this story. Mabel (the old woman who set them up) was also a great character that's worth mentioning. She seemed like a riot!

It happened One Night was another romantic comedy by Christine S. Feldman that I just adored. It was funny, cute, quick to read and the writing was excellent.

Loved!

I've been super stressed today and this was the perfect pick-me-up! I just love Christine's books, this one had me laughing and really lightened my mood. I also didn't have a lot of time, so this was the perfect length and temporary escape from reality. Paisley and Joe don't meet under the best of circumstances and when they're later set up on a blind date things just go from bad to worse. I thought this was a fun read, I liked Paisley and Joe and I was glad we were able to get things from both POV, helps explain where they're both coming from. Even though they may butt heads, they also have good chemistry. I especially loved the ending. Lots of fun moments. Oh, and I loved Mabel. Overall, just a cute story and one I'd easily recommend.

Paisley and Joe really do start off on the wrong foot. And, when Mabel, a friend of both, sets them up on a blind date all hell breaks loose when they meet again and realise just who their date is! With sharp words said, it is in both of their interests to forget it and move on.

However, as I have come to realise with Christine S. Feldman, moving on isn’t quite as simple as suggested, especially when a string of extraordinary events take place and put both characters through their paces.

I found Joe to be an extremely likeable character, and from the offset I completely empathised with his family and work situation. Paisley, on the other hand, I found not so alluring. Although I understood her initial annoyance with Joe, I felt she wouldn’t even give him the chance in the restaurant. She came across quite aloof and hostile. Yet, the reader knows deep down that she can be a very sweet person, especially where Mabel is concerned, and trying so hard to make ends meet. Stress just seems to get the better of her.

Once the action sets in, and Paisley lowers her guard due to each circumstance that entails, her and Joe do begin to connect. Joe’s one hell of a patient and enduring guy, and that made me enjoy reading about his character even more.

It Happened One Night is a great short story with it’s fun capers, quick pace and great dialog. I’ll certainly be looking forward to more stories from the Adventures in Blind Dating series!

Quick and easy… sometimes those are the best books. Christine Feldman has this style down. In the short 75 pages of this book the reader is able to relate to the characters, laugh at the characters, and enjoy a great story. There was romance within the pages but there was also humor.

I loved that everything in this book happen in such a short time. Joe and Paisley met, got started on the wrong foot, and then were thrown together in the craziest way ever. Both the characters had a lot on their plates. Joe taking over his dad’s garage and Paisley with her failing business. Yet, they both came together and did what had to be done and while doing what had to be done feelings developed. I loved closing the book and imagining what their next date could be like.

When you close a book, especially a short book, and continue thinking about the characters you know it was a fun book to read. I recommend checking it out and look forward to more in the Adventures in Blind Dating series.

Loved it

This story was funny. Paisley and Joe had one bad thing after another happening in the space of a couple hours lol. It gets pretty ridiculous.

I get that it was for comedy purposes, but childbirth isn't THAT bad. I've had 2 unmedicated births. And i don't like how just bc a cousin of the main character had a home birth, she was portrayed as a weird hippie who had a drum circle going during her labor. Not all of us who do it naturally r weird. And the cliche of the dad fainting....come on now.

There was a conspicuous lack of cuss words in this book. They used words like blast it and by golly. *Eye roll* It's not that I have a problem with ppl who don't cuss....idk i just feel like they think they're better than ppl who do. There was a reference to Babe Ruth and one so old I had to check how old the author was. One was so old i didn't recognize it even after checking Google and I'm almost 34!! Like who the F r the Marx Brothers?? Lol

I was given a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. It Happened One Night is the story of a crazy blind date. It turns out that daters Paisley and Joe have already met... and not under good circumstances. As if that weren’t bad enough, they face a mugging and a woman in labor before the night ends!

This was a quick and funny read. Both characters were likeable and given a decent backstory, even though the story was short. Enough humor, drama, and romance to please any chick lit fan!

This started off slowly, but once it got going I couldn’t stop reading. Paisley and Joe knew from the start this wasn’t going to be a good date. However, they had no idea exactly how sideways their evening would go.

Although the characters didn’t enjoy the events of the evening, the reader will. Laugh out loud scenes will keep you entertained and engaged and wanting more.

My first read by this author, but not my last!

Paisley and Joe had met before, and an acquaintance got them together again. What could of happened wrong that evening did, from muggers, to an evening of misadventure. Cute story and full of laughs.

This was a sweet, clean, enemies to lovers romance. The adventure happens when two people literally run into each other & are later set up on a blind date that is one for the books for chaos.

"Adventures in Blind Dating" this series calls itself, huh? Well, the opening of the series certainly isn't lying.

I wasn't quite prepared for how much of an adventure Paisley and Joe's blind date turns out to be in It Happened One Night by author Christine S. Feldman. It might've helped if I'd paid better attention to the book blurb, but already knowing that Feldman has quite the knack for novellas and romantic comedy, I didn't bother.

The story opens with humor and a measure of desperation on Paisley's part, turns right around to meet Joe in a poignant family situation, and then throws the hero and heroine headlong into catastrophe. And that's only the beginning.

There seems to be a stretch with quite a bit of cursing--nothing explicit or spelled out for the reader, mind you, and it's more than understandable, given the debacle the characters find themselves winding deeper into. The repetition just gets a little worn. Also, during part of the "calm down" after the debacle, the story just misses falling into a real lag while the characters try to figure out what to say or do with themselves next.

Still, my enjoyment of the story was thorough, and I can only imagine what adventure will break out next in the series.

Such a feel good book

This story, at times felt like WAY too much was happening on the blind date, but the way the story concluded was perfect and the entire scenario fit in exactly. The concept kept me on the edge of the seat. I really want to read more about these two...it was a very satisfying read.

Cute story

I could actually picture this as a movie. One of those where you get all stressed out over what's happening or being said. Paisley I honestly found a bit annoying. This story definitely had some hilarious situations and was an enjoyable book.
