Pilot Steve Trevor goes head-to-head with Axis aircraft over unchartered waters. There, he encounters a race of super-powered women who are out to protect their island home from all intruders.
Here's hoping they tighten up the Wonder Woman story - probably the most boring in the line. Stargirl and Supergirl is meh but even that is more interesting (sad as Wondy is my fav). Zatanna is AWESOME!
This continues Vol.1 on the same path it started and doesn't ever exceed or fall short of those expectations. I enjoyed it for what it is. I had an oddly strange time trying to figure out when to read across both pages and when to read down one page and then the other. I'm not sure why.
@ all the amazon ladies, if you read this im free on Thursday night and would like to hang out. Please respond to this and then hang out with me on Thursday night when I’m free
Better than the first. Batgirl and Aqua woman's storylines are the best, hoping the rest will improve going forward. The twist with Stargirl was interesting too.
Wonder Woman's section is much better in this second issue. It's less about Diana's interest in Steve Trevor and more about her determination to go against her loved ones in order to do what's right. There's a touching moment between her and a couple Amazons. Her interactions with Mera are fun too.
The Supergirl and Stargirl section is also better. Faster paced and higher emotional stakes. I'm genuinely curious as to how they'll turn out.
Zatanna's part is also pretty interesting, with an unexpected appearance by a character I've been growing fond of lately.
Overall, an improvement from the first issue, which I found more awkward than anything. If you were thinking of dropping the series, give it another try with this issue. It might change your mind.
I read this as soon as I finished issue 1 and the first two stories were a continuation. First of all my knowledge of DC isn't that great so I don't know who everyone was so apologies if I get the names wrong. Wonder woman and the woman aquaman went on an adventure to rescue Steve Trevor and go and fight in the war. The twins revealed more of their origins, instead of the nice gotham lesbians, we had two villains in a cabaret in Berlin picking on John Constantine which was quite fun. I think I will definitely carry on collecting this as individual comics as it's a great series. But I wish it was already published and I could read a massive graphic novel of it all in one go.
The review at Panels was accurate. These three first issues of DC Comics : Bombshells are fun, well written and beautifully drawn. Issue 2 introduces Wonder Woman and her Amazon sisters. You are reading from the point of view of a pilot Steve Trevor who is involved in a air battle above the Amazon's island. These Amazons are not your usual ones. Well, they are close to their mythological counterparts. These are warriors not saviors.
The art is fucking GORGEOUS!!! I really enjoy pinup art and the 1940's fashion, so this was such a delight to read <3
I also forgot all about Kate Kane and Maggie Sawyer, which was a pleasant reminder. It'll be interesting to read about a lesbian couple in the 40's, if they're going for that.
I'll be following this new title :) my only complaint is that in this first issue, we only really get to "meet the characters". When the plot actually starts to happen, IT ENDS!!!! But despite that, it's a really great issue.
This one, in my opinion, was even better than the last because it was less about establishing the "Bombshell" women, and more about running with a few stories, though there was still another introduction, and a few girls were left out. Great storytelling and art.
Still loving it. I am still slightly pissy at their stretching the comic books into three each (GIVE ME MY FIX NAO, DAMNIT!) but am buying it in both digital and paper format.
Changed the artist and it isn't as original, though still technically precise. So many stories going on at once...maybe I should have waited for the trade.
