A grief stricken and depressed Mark begins to help a homeless young man named Liam. Going out every day to buy food for Liam soon becomes the focus of Mark’s life. But Liam is suspicious of Mark’s motives and sensing that the older man is attracted to him, he bolts. Mark, in danger of losing his only remaining reason to live, commits a desperate act to keep the young man in his life. (M/M romance. Not suitable for readers under 18 years. Please This book deals with grief, depression, kidnapping and sexual assault, some scenes may be uncomfortable for some readers.)
I write m/m romance and homoerotica with heart and edginess.
My m/m romance stories:
Through the Bars - Dark and yet sweet m/m romance. Only An Ornament - Lighter romance with a bit of mystery. A Little Imagination - Sweet in more ways than one with a bit of light bondage.
And the more sex driven homoerotica:
Measure Once, Burn Twice - Dark and emotional torture/homoerotica. My Life as a Pet and the sequel Two Pet One Home - Life changing BDSM Pet play. Wanting Ivan - Very dark and emotional.
2.5 stars I went over and over in my mind how to review this book and pretty much all I can come up with is: This book is bizarre. Weird. Odd. Strange. Screwed up.
The writing isn't divided up its just one long chapter. The writing, language used and word choice is immature. The wrong word is used quite a bit (for example drunk instead of drank) and if I had to read about Mark's bushy eyebrows once more I may have screamed.
On the plus side, it's different. Dark and unusual. I feel that the author has some good ideas but the skill to adequately put them on paper is definitely lacking (in this instance at least, I haven't read anything else by this author.) It definitely has potential so I hope this can be worked on and improved in the future.
I enjoyed this. I found the descriptions of mental illness, depression and some of the actions of MArk difficult to read and disturbing, but having been suicidal and depressed myself, I can understand why he behaves as he does. That said, the growing relationship was really sweet and I had a really good feeling that the two would last together when the book finished. Thanks
The problem with this story is that it is not about a man who is holding another man in a cage. No, it's about how much fun it is for them when they start having the sex that you know is coming. Realism is thrown in the trash to tell a story about two men who like having sex together. It's a m/m story: Any scenario in the world, no matter how unrealistic, just so two men can start having sex.
The author gets credit for coming up with an insane situation, and making a story around it. Even the part where the captor has given the prisoner the key, but the prisoner feels he doesn't want to leave the cage yet, because he feels so safe there.
