I kind of rolled my eyes reading this short self-help. Just take a breath? Assess the situation even though you’re brain is going 0-100mph in a second? All of these things are what we have all heard before, and are rather obvious. However - it think when you’re at the point of reading these kinds of materials you’re either at a breaking point or ready to change, right? The only piece of information that was helpful to me, was how the negative relationships carry into the future with your children, and taking accountability the reasoning BEHIND the anger and frustration. It does recommend keeping a journal, but I already knew in my head the last 10-20 episodes of anger and irritability and their causes/triggers. As the book recommends, we must find that balance of still disciplining our children but do so without flipping your lid off. I waited a few days to rate this book, to see how it would go, and I have not yelled in two days. I am ready to realize that while we are only human, we can constantly improve ourselves and work harder, better, to improve our home life and reduce stress. Teaching accountability to our children begins with showing them how we are accountable for ourselves.
I recommend this book to any parent struggling to parent their “misbehaving child/ten” My daughter is 3 and it has ban an ongoing battle here lately that is just spiraling out of control and the last thing that I want to do is hurt her mentally and/or emotionally long term because I need to practice better skills of patience and understanding her mindset. Thank you, I look forward to putting your understanding and words of wisdom and encouragement to action.
So there were very valid points in here, but it was a bit disjointed. Most importantly, there were so many grammatical errors that I often found myself having to re-read sentences. It soon turned into my proofing the book instead of just reading it to glean the wisdom.
This book was much shorter than I was expecting when I downloaded it. But it brought up some very good points, and while I’m sure there are books you could find that would go into deeper detail of the subjects presented in this book; it’s a great starting point to get you thinking and give direction on how to get started and where to go next.
This book is written in an essay style. It’s very simple, with a “why” and “how-to”. It’s very short. There are a ton of grammar errors in this book… it seems like this might’ve been a rough draft that wasn’t edited. It has a couple of good points, so it’s worth the very brief read.
This book was a quick easy read with some very helpful tips. I was looking for a little more in depth way to stop yelling. This is more of a quick overview. I would recommend this as a starting point.
Overall I'd say this is a good little book of techniques, reasonings and tips. Only negative is that I did notice a few spelling and punctuation errors.
