They say karma is a bitch.
And I'd agree—I had lived it.

I had an affair with a married man...who also happened to be my professor. I couldn't stop it, couldn't control it. The only problem was that, I, of course, wanted more, and he couldn't give it to me.

Life moved on, I thought I'd moved on, but karma came back and destroyed it all.

My husband fell in love with his secretary, and I was left trying to figure out if love was even real.

I wanted to believe it was. I was almost positive I never stopped loving the one man I couldn't have. But...what if I could have him? What if he wasn't as off-limits as I had thought?

‘Life wasn’t always perfect. Neither was timing. It was what you made out of life and timing that was important. And I wanted to make the most out of what we had.’

Chloe Maxx is a new Author to us and we really enjoyed her story and writing. As far as student/teacher stories go; Lessons of the Past had just the right amount of story, nookie and likeable characters whilst staying true to the fundamentals of the taboo. We love this theme, call us naughty if you will! Whilst we did struggle a bit in the beginning to feel the connection and depth of character it didn’t take too long before we became completely engrossed in the story and despite a couple of clichéd drama, we ended up loving it. The latter part was just fabulous!

‘I had an affair with a married man…who also happened to be my professor. I couldn’t stop it, couldn’t control it. The only problem was that, I, of course, wanted more, and he couldn’t give it to me.’

With a few twists and turns switching from past to present we learn of how it all began and why it ended as it did – all the while falling in love with luscious Javier on the way and having moments of that freezer time we know and love as a consequence of a filthy mouth and steamy passion. An illicit affair with consequences.

‘Being with him had always felt right. Always comforted me. Always. Until the night he crushed all the security to shit.’

Alex our heroine is at college when her new professor completely turns her head, however she’s not alone in this and soon an affair ensues and lives are changed and a journey strewn with obstacles journey ensues.

‘The tears trailed down my cheeks, wetting the pillow below me-a mixture of sadness, regret, and happiness. Happiness that we were allowed this one last chance with each other.’

Lessons of the Past is primarily about that initial intense lust which grows into a strong and complicated love. About sacrifice, heartbreak and loyalty. It’s about finding your inner strength, listening to your heart and fighting for what you want. Both Alex and Javier had us wanting it all to work out amidst the sadness, the romance and the sweet. We definitely recommend this story to lovers of student/teacher romances.

4.5 I LOVED it Stars!

Review by Lisa Kane

I'm not sure what I expected when I read the blurb for this book, I just knew that the angst slut in me was intrigued and I couldn't not read it. Now cheating is tough for me to read about, but I have to say, that there are circumstances surrounding the main character's marriage that made it somewhat easier to take, but you be the judge of that.

Alexandria Wilson thought she had it all- a good marriage, a great job, a cute dog and then it all ended a month ago when she found out her husband, Caleb, was in love with another woman.

When I walked in on Caleb fucking his secretary on his desk, I couldn’t really be angry. It had apparently been going on for six months and I had been none the wiser. I guess that’s what happens when you say “I love you” and you aren’t actually in love, if love even exists.

For the last five years she was living a life within a life. Her husband was not the love of her life but she was comfortable in their relationship. She doesn't even blame him for the affair. He is in love with the other woman and she makes him happy. Alex settled for Caleb and part of her feels guilty about that.

I was only twenty-six and was getting divorced and living with my sister. It wasn’t what I had planned for my life at all.

She is running an errand for work-delivering some papers to a law firm as a favor for her boss. It's no hardship; the firm is also handling her divorce when she sees the one man she never thought she would see again.

Slowly, I turned, coming face to face with the man I thought I had once loved. The man who ripped my heart out and walked all over it. “Javier.” “Oh my God,” he said, coming closer and I took a step back. He still looked sexy as hell, maybe a little older, tired. “How are you?”
My body began to tremble and my sex clenched a little. “I’m great.” I hated that my body was starting to react his closeness. I needed to get away from him. Fast. The elevator arrived and the doors slid open. “I have to go, but it was great seeing you.” I said, stepping inside and turning to face him. He was so damn sexy.

What do you say to the man who shattered you; leaving you broken and in little pieces?

A good portion of this book is spent in flashbacks. How Alex met Javier. How they came together and what they meant to each other. How Alex, against her better judgement, let herself love him with her whole heart; believing that he loved her in the same way. That is right up until he broke her heart and left her devastated.

He looked at the floor a beat, then at me. “I’m sorry. I can’t do this. I thought I could…I wish I could, but I can’t.”

How could she be so stupid to trade her dreams for a life of secrecy? How could she let herself believe that he wasn't a player, that he really loved her? She forced herself to move on, but she never gave her heart away again.

He had been married during our relationship and never intended to divorce his wife. I should have guarded my heart better, never acted on my feelings for him, but I had. I hadn’t thought, just felt, and it left me shattered. That’s why karma was such a bitch.

But it's five years later and things are very different in Javier's life. This man who I despised just may have not been the monster I thought he was. He is determined to win Alex back and to explain what happened and why he did the things he did.

“I, uh…I haven’t seen you in years.” She arched an eyebrow. “And?” I scrubbed my hand over my face. “You look great. Still as beautiful as ever.” Alexandria tilted her head to the side. “What are you doing?” She hadn’t lost her attitude over the years. I smiled. “Trying to talk to you.” “You want to talk to me? What could we possibly have to say to each other?” she said indignantly, a scowl on her face.

Winning her back is not going to be easy. Should she let herself forget what he did to her, she has plenty of her friends and her sister to remind her. But the hold that Javier always had over her is still there and she can try and fight it, but will she win that battle? Does she even want to?

Almost five years later and I could still vividly remember watching Alexandria kiss him. I was in the student union, ordering my lunch, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. His arm was slung around her shoulder as they stood in another line, and he looked down at her with lust in his eyes as she reached up and kissed him. It had only been a peck, but it was enough for me to know she had moved on. I had wanted that, wanted her to be happy, but it still fucking killed me.

Lessons of the Past is about finding the great love of your life, even if he belongs to someone else. It's about redemption and forgiveness and second chances. Sometimes, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, your heart knows the truth even if your head tells you differently.

Because if one thing was true, it was that Alexandria Wilson was the love of my life. I couldn’t, wouldn’t let her go again. I’d figure out a way to get her back. I didn’t have any other option.

“I missed my chance getting you back last time. This time, I wasn’t going to take that chance.”

Chloe Maxx is my new favorite dirty little vixen!!!

I could stand on the rooftops and yell about this book and never get tired of it! Chloe Maxx's debut book is a H.O.T. Steamy wet dream come true!

This dirty little romance is about Professor Hot Ass or Professor Rodriguez and his student Alexandra Wilson and well maybe just a tad bit of that stupid little thing called KARMA!

To me this book is like a picture - a picture never does the scenery justice - my review just couldn't do this book the amount of justice it deserves!

Very honored I was chosen to read this for an honest review, and very proud of the author for putting this out there! Teacher/student relationships are a very hot steamy sexy topic and also a sore subject for some. However Chloe did an amazing job with this story-line, she made you feel the story, she made it impossible to put the book down until I was finished!

An ultra hot College professor plus a gorgeous college junior equals one steaming hot romance!

Javier is living a lie to protect the most important girl in his life. He is hot, successful and to the outside world it appears that he is living the perfect life. Even though things are far from perfect with his home life he has no intentions of making any changes. Until he meets Alexandria. She steals his breathe away and for the first time he is contemplating cheating on his wife.

Alexandria's attention is captured the moment that she sees her sexy calculus professor. When she finds herself struggling to keep up in class Javier offers to tutor her privately. Soon the sexual tension becomes to much and they give in to their desires.

What happens when the man that you are falling for reveals that he is married?

Their secret affair includes the most euphoric highs and the most devastating lows. They risk everything to be together and to keep their relationship is a secret. Jealousy soon shows its ugly head when they are both seen with other people. They both battle with trust issues from the past relationships.

What do you do when the risk of your love affair becomes too much?

Javier completely shatters Alexandria's world. Shortly after he breaks her heart she experiences another tragedy. She decides to settle for a comfortable relationship after being broken beyond repair. There is no passion in her marriage but she is okay with that. Until her husband falls in love with his secretary and asks for a divorce.

When there is the possibility of a second chance with the one person that you ever truly loved, what will you do gain her trust again?

Javier and Alexandria's story is not easy. They have to battle through infidelity, lies, heartbreak and devastation. I loved the characters at times and hated them at others. Chloe Maxx did an awesome job with her debut novel.

Where do I begin? When I saw the very first teaser for this book I knew I had to read it and I also knew that I would love it.
Javier is a super-hot professor who has been living a lie for years but he has been doing it for his daughter. (Which is hot by the way) He has never crossed a line and has kept up his lie of a life for years and he is set on continuing to do so.
Alexandria is a junior in college who is about to step foot in the class she hates the most....math. This character is feisty and very loveable. Did I mention that she is absolutely gorgeous! She has amazing friends too that love her something fierce.
One day while Alexandria was running on the beach she stopped dead in her tracks and comes face to face with her Calculus professor. All she can think about is wanting to lick every inch of his rock hard shirtless body...No wait I am sorry that is what I was thinking when I read that part. Sorry....
I will tell you that this book is pretty damn good. Javier will leave you swooning, panting, and wanting so much more. There is some pretty hot scenes in this story. I love the way these two characters are and let me tell you I would have never imagined the ending that Chloe Maxx gave me...but I am so flipping happy she did.
I loved this book so much that I read it on the train ride back home and could not even put it down. I needed to know more, I needed to know what was going to happening, hell I needed to know if I was going to hate Javier forever or not.
So to Chloe Maxx thank you so much for wanting me to read this book. I loved every minute of and you did a kick ass job with your debut novel. Now I will tell you that I loved Javier but there is something about Lane (Chloe best friend) and I want to know so much more. Yes....I am hinting for you to give me book 2 and make it all about Lane.

4 stars for a great debut.

I really liked this little erotic romance. This was a standalone & complete book about a married professor/college student relationship. It was a great debut by the very talented Chloe Maxx. She is definitely a new author to watch in this genre and I will be interested in any of her future endeavors. Lessons of the Past had everything I look for in a nice panty melting read. The main characters as well as supporting characters were all likable, the plot was well thought out and flowed nicely. The story was a little predictable, but the dirty talking & sex on a stick professor made it all worth it. Altogether a great enjoyable read!

**JOSIE'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW**

“I had an affair with a married man, who also happened to be my professor.”

This is the author’s first novel and I’m having a hard time believing it! I will admit once I read the synopsis I was intrigued, it sounded so taboo. I am not a fan of cheating, not at all so I went in expecting that I was going to dislike these characters, but I was seriously wrong. I loved how the author took readers on this journey going from present to past and past to present. We are introduced to these to very complex and intriguing characters, Alexandria and Javier. Their story is so intriguing and captivating, that I could not put my Kindle down.

Javier Rodriguez – super-hot, sexy on a stick, Calculus Professor, with a dirty mouth and mind. Gah! I love him. This man has been the perfect professor, husband and has never gone against his morals. There has never been a time where he has wanted to cross that line; he was content with his life, until he sees this beauty. This sexy woman, stretching on the beach. Alexandra is a feisty, strong-willed a determined character. She is loved by her group of friends, and she is loyal to all that she loves. Alexandra is in her junior year of college, about to take a calculus class she has been dreading. Well she hated until, she sees the gorgeous hottie she saw at the beach that one day. Let’s just say calculus takes on a whole new meaning.

Javier was just so darn hot. This man has a heart of gold, he scarifies so much and has never once regretted his choices. Javier and Alexandra’s relationship was not what I expected. Their relationship was not just about sex, (yes there was some seriously hot epic sex scenes), but it was more than that. They spend time together outside and inside the classroom, office, beach, alley (you get it). They enjoy each other’s company, they get to know one another, their likes and dislikes, their dreams and hopes. This was a serious relationship. It was hard to watch what would evidentially be the end of their secret relationship, not only did it leave the characters shattered but it also left me a mess! The years go on and so do their lives, and just as the synopsis says Karma is a bitch. Alexandra gets another throat punch.

Javier and Alexandra lives will cross paths again and Alexandra is faced with the knowledge that maybe Javier is not so unattainable after all. Alexandra and Javier’s story is not easy. There is so much that stand in between their happiness – betrayal, lies, infidelity and distrust; but if there is a small possibility of a second chance, would it be worth it? Does love really exist for Alexandra? There was also a story within the story, with some of the side characters, which was a bonus. This was an amazing debut novel and I can’t wait to see what else comes next from this author.

I love finding authors that are new to me and even new authors. Lessons of the Past is Chloe Maxx’s debut novel and I loved it!
With the synopsis, I was immediately intrigued. Student/teacher relationship? COUNT ME IN! In real life, this type of taboo thing is NOT my thing, but in a book, I find it so thrilling and intriguing.

“I had an affair with a married man, who also happened to be my professor.”
And cue the gasp!

When I saw that the man was married, I will be honest and say I was little standoffish. But without giving too much away, I have to say, it is NOT what you’re thinking. I found Alexandra and Javier’s story to be full of angst, smoldering hotness and most of all, LOVE.

Alexandria is a character that is relatable and fun. She is loved by those around her and as a reader, you can’t help but love her as well. When she signs up to take a calculus class in her junior year of college, she’s dreading it, until she see’s her smoking hot professor. Let’s be real, a super hot professor is the only way you’d make me pay attention in calculus.

Javier was so dreamy and sexy and smart and… yum. As you get to know his character you realize that he is one of the most caring characters. At first his actions drove me batsh*t crazy, but the more you read the more you understand and then the next thing you know, you’re falling for the super hot calculus teacher as well.

The chemistry between them was intense. Yes, it all happened fast, but sometimes, even in real life, instalove happens and we all just gotta roll with it. Their relationship was sexy, yes, but more than that they had a deep connection and you could feel it written through the pages.

When a twist in the plot leaves Alexandria heart broken, I was left staring at the page with my stomach aching and heart shattering.
He looked at the floor a beat, then at me.
“I’m sorry. I can’t do this. I thought I could…I wish I could, but I can’t.”

Lessons of the Past will make you smile, make you laugh, make you angry, and shatter your heart before piecing it back together. In my opinion it has all the feels. Give this debut novel a chance and see what you think!

“I missed my chance getting you back last time. This time, I wasn’t going to take that chance.”

New author alert and let me tell you ladies, this is one that you want to stalk immediately! I didn't believe that this was a debut book by this author but sure enough, it seems that way and I am totally impressed. I don;t remember the last time an newbie author captivated me the way this author did. From the first page of this book, I was completely sucked in and didn't stop until the last word.

I loved this book. It was sexy, sweet, slightly angsty, fun, intense, passionate, and quite forbidden at times. This book had an amazing storyline that crossed between past and present in dual point of views, giving us a lot of back story before slipping into the present. This book was a bit taboo and super freaking hot. Javier will light up your kindle and Alex is sure to make you smile.

This is Javier and Alex's book. When Javier and Alex meet, the connection is instant but there is one huge obstacle in their way... Alex is a college student and he is her professor. Not only is he that, but he is very much married with a child. Enter Alex. She is a temptation he gives into. She knows him circumstance but still, their passion is undeniable. Until it all comes crashing down around them...

Now, they haven't seen each other in years. Alex is on the tails on her divorce and when she runs into Javier, all those old feelings, including resentment, bubble to the surface. But circumstances are much different now and time has changed. They are both available. Can they find a way to mend their broken hearts, broken souls, and find the happy ending they so desperately deserve?

Now before you judge this book and the things that happen... read it. Never judge a book by its cover because if I had, I would have missed out on an amazing book. Cheating is typically a HARD limit for me but I am glad I took the chance. This book is tastefully written that you can;t help but find yourself rooting for these two because the love was obvious.. the circumstances just weren't ideal.

I highly recommend this book!

Debut erotic/ teacher-student story YES YES YES sign me up !! The cover is hot , the teasers were great and I was hooked from the start.

I loved how we got Alexandria's story in the present- divorcing , not in love , he's cheating but she didn't blame him. Gave us a bit of insight to the type of person she was and the type of marriage she had been living in. Then we get to go back to college and the yummy years when she was consumed by lust and desire for her geeky HOT AS SIN calculus professor !! Professor Rodriguez , Javier , was basically living in the type of marriage Alexandria ended up in ironically, yet he craved love and happiness. He felt those things immediately with Alexandria and it may have been a whirlwind but it was super hot and super amazing. I am not a fan of cheating yet I honestly did not feel bad about this. I felt no connection to Amy or Javier's marriage and I felt badly for him because he was working so hard to keep up an act so he could provide the perfect home for his daughter. It really was sad and at times I did wonder if there was more to it , more mystery or unknown aspects to his claims. Yet I also felt he was very open and honest with Alexandria. Their connection was amazing and it really was a shame how it all came together so fast yet ended so quickly. Years later is there a possible second chance for them on the horizon ?? Can Alexandria forgive and forget or was her struggle to move on too much to get past ?? At this present time they are both doing what is right for them finally and it is no better time for them to face each other and face the facts and make that decision that can change their lives for the better or worse. I enjoyed how it all came together , I loved the ending and I was thrilled with this spin on the teacher/student romance. I loved how it was a past experience given to us by them both and now in the present we could see it play out verses being the current and never knowing what their futures came to be !!

Escape into my Reads Book Blog

When I was asked to beta read Lessons of the Past by Chloe Maxx I was abit apprehensive in reading it due to the extra marital affair, but once I started reading I was instantly lost in the storyline as circumstances and choices became clearer and I found myself unable to put this book down. I absolutely loved Javier and Alexandria and my heart was aching the whole time whilst reading praying they got their hea.

The story switches from present-past-present and is mainly told in Alex’s pov but you do get inside some of Javier’s thoughts and you just soak those pages up.

When Alexandria Wilson a young business graduate walks into her dreaded calculus class, her passing the module becomes a bigger math problem then she could have imagined. Unable to focus except for how sexy Professor Rodriguez is makes Alexandria realise she’s going to need all the extra tutoring she can get to pass the course. The spark between Alex and Javier is instant and hot, an attraction that is so unavoidable as they find themselves unable to stay away from each other and cross the line of forbidden romance risking it all.

Lessons of the Past took me on a wave of emotions as Javier and Alexandria experience love, loss, heartache, courage, strength, separation, sacrifice, forgiveness and peace, whilst it seriously packed some smoking sexy freaky scenes that had me swooning all over sexy ass and dirty talking Professor Rodriguez. The guy was just so sweet, passionate, romantic, possessive and sexy as hell and Alex was a perfect match for him with her sassy and confident attitude. The epilogue had me squealing and made my heart melt it was just so perfect!

For a debut novel Chloe Maxx rocked it and delivered everything you’re looking for in a forbidden romance novel.

I’m not a big erotica fan or cheating, but something about this book called to me and I knew I had to read it. And I’m so happy I did so. It’s a steamy, sensual tale of betrayal and second chances, with two great characters who learned the hard way that actions have consequences that most of the time leave devastation in their wake.

Lessons from the Past is Chloe Maxx‘s debut novel and as far as those go, this is a really good one. I really enjoyed how the author structured this book going from the present to the past and back again. I liked the characters and I was so intrigued by their story.

The novel tells the story of Alexandria and Javier and their not so easy love. Javier is a Calculus teacher, a married man, who is still staying this way for the sake of his daughter. He’s been living a lie for most of his married life and would’ve still most likely done so. Alexandria is a junior in college – she’s a feisty girl, whose very loved by her friends and others she meets. One day running on the beach she comes face to face with Javier and it’s instant chemistry.

Although this is an erotica book and we get to experience some of their most intimate moments, we also get to see this sexual relationship become something more – with each moment they spend together, they get to know each others deepest secrets, but also their dreams and goals. But as every clandestine relationship this too had to come to an abrupt and messed up end.

And as the tagline says . . . “karma is a bitch” – Alexandria soon learned that what goes around comes around, and sometimes it happens when you least expect it. But than one day after her world was shattered she comes face to face again with the one who broke her heart all those years ago . . . and the question was simple . . . what to do next?

I absolutely love this book! This book had everything I love in a teacher student book.
-The lust.
-The can't go long with out being with each other.
-The turmoil of all the ups and downs of this kind of relationship.
-All the secrets that had to be kept.
-All the risky things they did.
-And then the Ultimate sacrifice of everything.
This book had it all! I just couldn't put this book down. I totally devoured it in one day!Javier and Alexandra... Started off so damn hot. There was nothing slow about them. Javier demanded a lot of Alexandra. She had to compromise a lot to be with him.
She had to overlook a lot too.
At times it all seemed unfair. Javier I felt could have shown Alex a little more. And he did to a certain extent.
But... He still called all the shots.
Alex truly fell head first for Javier. She never had a chance.
I felt for her.
She really tried to do the right thing. But her heart always won the battle. My heart was breaking for Alex and I so wanted to cry for her. I felt her pain....for the situation she was in.

I loved how everything unfolded in this book. The pace was perfect too. It just felt so real. The sex in this book was just so damn hot! OMG! Melt your panties kind of hot!...lol

This book also rips you to shreds and puts you back together again. and I just loved that too!
Definitely a must read!

If I could change one thing about this book it would have to be the cover. This cover does not do this book justice. And I know some people shop with their eyes... I know I do. I would hate for this book to get passed up by potential readers because of it.

I will definitely recommend this book to EVERYONE!

My 4.5 star review of Lessons of the Past
So this is my first Chloe Maxx book, and I really enjoyed her writing style and the format of this book. Even though this book does, quote- un-quote- involve cheating- the wait that Chloe wrote it, I was actually rooting for the Hero and Heroine, and not the hero and his wife to work things out. And of course the cover is a bit steamy- so I liked that about it too!

Alex is the heroine and she is in college, just minding her own business trying not to fail and to get her degree. When she has a class with the sexiest professor she has ever seen. And when she sees him in a coffee shop, things change for real, as they end up hooking up. But what Alex doesn’t know is that he is married- but it’s a loveless marriage, and I am totally not condoning cheating, but when you read this you will see why their affair happened.

Javier is the hero, and I love him and his story. I hate that his marriage is loveless and his wife tries to hang things over his head- and he just wants what’s best for his 5 year old, as any man would. But he is helpless when he falls for Alex, and there is nothing he can do to stop it.

Their relationship changes, and then there is a 5 year hiatus where they don’t see each other- and a LOT goes on, the buildup is what I really loved about this story. The build up to the turning point was great. And just waiting for the other shoe to drop was like the BEST feeling. I know people usually hate it- but I loved it. I wondered where it was going to go and how the author was going to handle it and she did a fantastic job and gave me the ending I truly wanted! I can’t wait for more from Chloe Maxx!!

I love when I read a book from a first time author and it pretty much knocks my socks off. It means that I have the opportunity to read books from them for a long time. That being said, I am pretty sure that Chole Maxx is a pen name for another author. This was not your typical first time author book, but I not complaining. I loved every minute that I read this book! I can't wait to tell everyone else how amazing it is.

I am not typically one to read about cheating in a marriage or a teacher/student relationship. I have made a pact with myself that I was going to look outside the box and I am so glad that I did. Alex knew the moment that she stepped into Javier's classroom that something was different about this teacher. Javier knew that she was the most beautiful student he had ever seen. Throw in some unexpected meets ups, a drunk conversation and running on the beach and you knew that things were bound to heat up.

Like I said, cheating is not something that I typically like in my books, however, for the sake of a good book and the facts surrounding the marriage and you can't put this book down. Alex and Javier are just that compelling. You want to cry and scream when thing go wrong and take out the pom poms and cheer when things are good. I wish that I could find more books that make me feel thing this good while I read.

Sometime we let our past mistake define us and the person we eventually grow to be. This story is a fine example of how what happens in our past define us , but how mistakes and learning from them can help us heal. Alexandria and Javier both made mistakes in the beginning and how they fell in love was not conventional but it was, unavoidable. This proved that love even over a time span of five years is stronger than the hate and pain that will eventually come into play I will not lie I went into this story thinking I’m will not like it, I don’t like how it’s written and such. But I could not have been more wrong about this book.
Once I started getting into Alex and Javiers story I realize that I was so wrong about this book. The author went into great depth to of Alex and Javiers past to make us connect and to understand why things we’re the way they were.
To say I was surprise to find out this was Ms.Maxx debut novel is an understatement. She writes with such a passion and skill that I know she will continue to grow. This was something different for me and I was glad to able to read Javier and Alex story that makes you think that second chances are so worth it .

Normally, I'm not a big fan of cheating in my stories, but with that being said, Chloe Maxx did a fabulous job with Lessons of the Past.

Alexandra Wilson married a man she thought she loved. She realized her mistake when she found him with his secretary, with whom he fell in love with. There was no bitterness on her end, because she hoped he had found happiness since she knew she never got over her first love. They were just comfortable. Delivering work papers for her boss, she runs into Javier, the man she never stopped loving. What do you say to the man that destroyed her 5 years before?

WOW! I wasn't sure what to expect because of the subject, but my mind was blown with how much I loved this story. The character development is well done, with a sensitive storyline that was impossible to put down and flowed remarkably smoothly. Any author that can get me to love a story with cheating involved, is brilliant in my mind, and Chloe Maxx is just that. Kudos for the sexy scenes that were off the charts HOT, as they almost set my kindle on fire. This is a fantastic first book in this genre, and I'm super excited to see what she puts out next! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Karma's A B*tch!
Wow! Is this really a debut novel? Because I have to say that this book is so very well written I would never have guessed! It has the read, flow and feel of a well seasoned author. I am so totally impressed. This book is scorching hot! I usually don't really care that much for cheating scenarios, but I definitely have to make an exception with this one, the author has done a tremendous job with this story and you just can't help but to love it. It really just draws you right in and doesn't let go. I was taken along for the bumpy but amazing ride, with really high highs, and very low lows. The title is perfect because this book really illustrates how the past shapes us as people. I loved the characters but at times I was so frustrated with them I wanted to smack the crap out of them. This is definitely a complex story and the road for Alexandria and Javier is neither ideal or easy. I definitely recommend this book, and can't wait to read more from this amazingly talented author. I was generously provided a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review.

This is Javier and Alexandria's story and what awesome story. Javier is awesome hot professor who is living a lie for years , but he's doing it for his daughter. He's ever crossed a line and has always kept up his lie now for years, and plans to continue doing it. And when there's Alexandria who's a junior in college, who is about to step foot in a class she hate's and that's math. She's feisty and is lovable and the most gorgeous young woman going, her friends are sweet and loving to you. When one day well running on the beach she runs dead stop in her tracks and came face to face with her calculus professor, and what a body is all she could think about. I could go on and tell you more about this amazing story, but then I'm spoiling it for you. I high recommend you read this amazing story you won't be disappointed

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure I was going to be able read it as first. There is cheating in this book. As some who has NO tolerance for someone who cheats, I didn't think I would like it. I'm so glad that I picked it up and gave it a shot. It's a very steamy read that I had a crazy hard time putting down. I fully look forward into reading what Chloe Maxx releases in the future.

Alexandria meets Javier, or to her, Professor Rodriguez in her college math class. She is attracted to him right away but knows he is off limits. This book is set a lot in the past with how Alex and Javier meet. How their relationship blooms and how it ends. Now, five years later, they run into each other. This book leaves you rooting for the characters to have a happy ending. Pick it up to find out!

5 Stars......LOVED every second of it!

Just finished this and I have to say, I LOVED every moment of this book. As heartbreaking as some of the circumstances were, it was told beautifully and seamlessly. The writing was superb, the characters incl the secondary cast were all great and complimented the story to perfection!

Now, this book contains cheating, yes, we all know that BUT what I loved was that for me personally it did not deter my enjoyment of this story. I know that sounds crazy and under "normal" circumstances HELL NO, I hate cheating but for me again, this was just "different" and "different" circumstances. Not sure everyone will like and/or agree BUT me, I truly loved it heartbreak and all:)

Javier, oh my, he is not perfect BUT is very close to it:)

This is my first read by this author AND it will NOT be my last:) Excellent!

I liked this story as our female led was not the typical good girl most can be. She did some things she should not have i her past, like we all have, and she accepts it was not correct but she is living with her choices - i liked that a lot. But when the man who broke you returns all bets are off. This story goes into flashback mode, but that is good we get to see all the characters and how they start off and then end up in the present. A great read about life, love and the choices we make and what to do if you get a second chance. PS i am also a sucker for a second chance romance to see if it can work, does this one? I cannot tell you read i and find out

I received this book through a recommendation from Bookbub. For those of you who don't know Bookbub sends recommendations of books that go on sale or become free. So when books are inexpensive I always take the risk.

This is an easy read. The story has some angst. A student and her professor fall in love. Their lives are difficult of course and then their relationship hits a wall. But affairs of the heart are a strange thing and well years later, by chance not really, they connect again. Of course there is a HEA.

I enjoyed it and the book kept my interest. Try it, you got nothing to lose.

When I read the synopsis of this book I was really excited. NO I do not like cheating but I do LOVE the Teacher/Student relationship.
I have to say I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed this book. At first I wasn't sure if I liked Javier. I wasn't sure what exactly he was doing in this relationship. I couldn't tell if his feeling were real or if he was playing Alex.
This book was really well written and kept me intrigued as to what was going to happen next. I couldn't put it down until I was finished.
Glad I picked it up and would recommend.
Who wouldn't want a sexy Professor giving extra credit after hours!
