Christy #3

Fatal Exchange

Rate this book
For 19-year-old Christy Hadden, it’s life as usual as a spy, only this time in Paris, France. Her mission: retrieve a flash drive containing evidence that a high public official is working to destroy Paris. Pretty standard, until someone steals the drive from her. Forced to abandon her position protecting the informant, she goes after the thief, but returns empty handed—only to find her informant dead.

Christy's failure taints her reputation at Division and the director has lost all faith in her. But Christy isn't one to slink into the shadows. Alone and disgraced, she decides to track down the drive and solve the murder, not only to redeem herself as a spy, but to give meaning to her informant’s sacrifice, and perhaps even save Paris.

Suspenseful, with the right amount of romance, and awash with action, Fatal Exchange will send you on a thrill ride that will be hard to forget.

USA Today Bestselling author, Cindy M. Hogan is the author of edge of your seat, young adult suspense novels that always have a dash of romance, because every book should have hot guys and girls in them. Her first series, the Watched Series, skyrocketed her to number one bestselling author and she hasn’t let up since with over 20 novels to her name.

She never sits down to write, instead, she walks and talks into a recorder and lets her computer transcribe her words. Editing is her enemy, but she loves the final results, so she’ll always dig in.

Her one dream is to own and bake in a German style bakery with a cute to-go window for Gelato. In the meantime, she’ll continue to do the thousand other things she loves like teaching, all things outdoors, painting, and gardening—she’s never met a flower, tree, bush or vegetable she doesn’t like—except maybe okra and beets. As long as she’s got a book playing in her ear, she even enjoys weeding. She may be deranged.

She loves to create, but can’t seem to sit still for long, even to read a book. Instead, she listens to books so she can read and create at the same time. She’s a non-stop worker and enjoys every minute of it.

Her most loved creation is her two amazing daughters and wishes they were teens again. She loves to be home, but her husband is a traveler and drags her family around the world, where she finds an endless supply of story ideas, characters, settings, and more often than not, walks away with a suntan or ends up in a cool castle. She is also inspired by the unpredictable teens she teaches. If she is not creating things other than books, you’ll find her snuggled up with the love of her life watching a movie or planning their next party.

Most of all, she loves to laugh.

Fatal Exchange to me was a good read. I liked how the story took place in Paris, the city of love.

I am always fascinated by spy books and was eager in reading this book just based on the synopsis.

The book follows Christy, a 19 year old spy who is currently working on a case in Paris, in hopes of retrieving a flash drive that contains highly secretive information. The book is written on the whole pickpocket issue in Paris.

I found the book a nice read. I didn't think the plot was out of the worldly brilliant and I actually prayed that one of her colleagues would betray her and work for the bad side. That would have definitely made the plot awesome.

This book is the 3rd series and although having not read any books in the series, the story was easy to follow. There were instances whereby references were made to previous series which left me a little confused. Definitely needed to check what had happened between Jeremy and Christy and between Christy and Summer.

All in all, i'd rate this book 3.5/5 stars. The action was amazing. I didn't really enjoy the romance portions of it and wished for a more exciting spy mission which would kick my adrenaline on high.

Billed as number 3 in a series you don't have to have read the other books to enjoy this high octane spy thriller (actually a little digging after reading had me discovering this was book three in the second trilogy about Christy so actually this was book six. I hadn't read any of them but Hogan is adept at bringing readers up to speed in a sentence or two without dragging the reader away from the action or inserting too many details a previous reader would be bored of hearing again and again - like in the 90's with the whole chapter at the start of every Babysitters Club/Sweeet Valley/Saddle Club book that recapped the whole series, that doesn't happen here.)

At only 19 Christy is billed as a rising star in Division 57, a covert international spy ring. Currently stationed in France she gets on well with her fellow team members but her Director of Operations isn't a fan. Every mission Christy goes on seems to end in some kind of disaster so it's a good job the latest one is simple.

Henri Dufor works for the premier security agency in France. He's come across some data he thinks Division 57 needs to have. All Christy has to do is board a train and collect a flash drive from him and then stay with him until the next stop when other agents will take over to ensure his safety. But after successfully collecting the drive a pickpocket steals her bag. Christy gives chase leaving Dufor alone. She loses the pick pocket and, in her absence, Dufor loses his life.

With no way of knowing what was on the drive and how important it could be Christy and her director are at logger heads about the best way to proceed. When Christy is suspended after another failed mission she is determined to give Dufor's death some meaning and she goes undercover alone to infiltrate France's pickpocket rings and try and retrieve the flash drive.

This is a fast paced action thriller for younger readers. Some areas of the plot require you to suspend rational judgement and you have to take some logic leaps along with Christy to make the plot stay together but the story is tightly woven together and well crafted and a story about a 19 year old spy in Paris was never going to be heavy on realism.

This was my second Cindy M Hogan in a week (the other was Kate Unmasked) and I really enjoy her style and the pure escapism her novels seem to offer. Watched, the first in the first Christy trilogy is free on Amazon.co.uk at the moment so I have that locked and loaded ready to while away a rainy autumn afternoon.

Christy is a 19-year-old spy who is currently working in France. Her mission seems simple enough and all is going well until it all of a sudden isn't. She soon finds herself on her own and posing as Eva in a pickpocket ring to try to recover what was stolen from her. There's danger involved and what she uncovers could put her life in danger but she's determined to be successful.

I felt like Christy wasn't in as much physical danger in this book as she was in the previous two books and I liked that. Ms. Hogan isn't afraid to put her in truly perilous situations and sometimes those make it harder for me to read. There is still plenty of danger in this book and she makes some gutsy moves, demonstrating that her spying skills are increasing.

She has feelings for her handler, Jeremy, who is quite a bit older than her. He's on another assignment at the beginning, but makes an appearance about halfway in. There is some tension between them and they need to figure out how to move forward, whether together or separately. She comes face to face with Summer, a girl she met in the "Watched" series, and they don't get along at all. They're forced to work together and some ugly truths are revealed. It will be interesting to see if Summer makes another appearance at some point.

This book will work as a stand alone, but if you want more back story, you will want to start with the first book in the series. If you want a more complete picture of what's happening, you will want to also read the "Watched" series. I've enjoyed how Christy has grown from the very beginning, and look forward to her next mission!

I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.

This book is a non-stop ride of action and suspense with tons of thrills. I read this in about a 24 hour period and could not wait to see what would happen next and how Christy was going to fix what happened on her failed mission. Cindy has a talent in how she writes this series (and all of her books:) At times I didn't know who to trust, especially when it came to Division. Christy has a talent of thinking on her feet and with her heart, and sometimes that gets her in more trouble, as she tries to figure out her next move. There was a surprise return character that had me guessing the whole time. I loved it when Jeremy came back, he and Christy have a fantastic chemistry. The ending was an enjoyable surprise and I can't wait to see where Cindy will take that in the next book.

5 out of 5 stars. Cindy's "Christy" books can standalone, but I think the story and characters will be appreciated more if read in order.

Christy Hadden is an extremely talented spy, and at 19 she has to be good. There are people that would love to see her fail and she needs to prove that she is very capable of her job. Christy is on assignment in Paris, and her next mission seems easy enough-grab a flash drive with damaging information on a high ranking public official and keeps the informant safe. However, things go from bad to worse after Christy grabbed the flash drive. Before she can even react the flash drive is taken from her and she gives chase, leaving her informant behind and he’s killed. Christy needs to earn back the respect of her director, and decides to go undercover as a pickpocket. After she hits the streets she begins to realize that Paris is full of thieves and nobody is safe as the streets are overrun by several pickpocket rings.

If you can get past the fact that such an accomplished spy is only 19, it’s a very good book. It’s full of action and suspense, and there is a little bit of romance towards the end of the novel. I haven’t read the other books in this series, but this book can be read on its own. I didn’t feel like I’ve lost anything in the story by not reading the previous books. I have read other books by Cindy M. Hogan and I really enjoy her as an author. I wouldn’t mind reading the other books in the series and get to see more of Christy in action. I didn’t give it a perfect rating because it was hard for me to imagine that the way the department was set up, as believable. For the director to totally disregard information that was continually being given to her, especially when it had to do with the safety of a whole team, frustrated me and didn't seem real at all. To have so much anger and hate between an agent and her shadow, makes you think that there should have been some psychological testing going on, and you would want your agents to trust those that are working with them. It is a fictional novel, so I’m not extremely put out when it doesn’t seem realistic, but other than a few small things, the book was good.

Christy is one of my very favorite characters right now. I love the way she is so young, but she's amazingly good at almost everything, and she's made a name out there for herself as a spy. In this book she's in France when something goes horribly wrong with her current mission. The drive she's supposed to pick up is taken by the notorious pick pockets of Paris and the man she's supposed to pick it up from is killed. Things go from bad to worse when Christy is banished by the French Division director who doesn't like her to begin with and she knows that she's on her own to figure out how to get back the drive.

This book had me figuratively chewing my nails with wanting to know just what would happen to Christy, she hasn't been so on her own since Watched, does she really know enough to keep herself from getting killed. Watching her infiltrate the pick pockets and actually becoming one of them for a time was almost as painful for me as I know it would have been for her. I really loved a part near the end when she had a chance to basically get revenge on someone who wasn't kind to her, but she chose to basically rise above that and not go for the revenge. I love that she has that kind of character.

I love her team, Ace and Haluis were not willing to allow her to really be on her own, even though it meant that they would be in as much trouble as Christy if she got caught doing her own thing.

This book is full of action and adventure. I love that there is a touch of romance, without the whole thing being romantic. I love that my teenage daughter loves this series just as much as I do, and that it's perfectly appropriate for her to read as well. This book, and really the whole series are amazingly well-written. You won't want to put them down!

This book had so many elements that I just love. I was really looking forward to reading this book and it definitely did not disappoint.

Fatal Exchange is the third book in this Christy series. Christy is a spy and a good one at that. I love her spy team because they are so fiercely loyal to each other. They are friends and they look out for each other one hundred percent.

The pacing of this book is fantastic. It was fast and I felt like I was on a fantastic ride where I hold on for dear life with a smile on my face the whole time. There is danger and suspense almost around every turn. It was great fun.

There is some light romance, but it isn't a main focal point in the book until toward the end. I think this book probably could stand alone, but I would recommend reading the whole series because that is really how you get to know the characters. I'm sure this book wouldn't have been so good to me if I hadn't been following the series and had that connection to the characters with the background of knowledge that comes with it.

This is, by far, my favorite series from Cindy Hogan. She has found her groove with these books and I am a fan.

Content: Clean- no swearing or sexual content beyond some kissing. Some violence.

This book is excellent. Filled with intrigue, action, mystery... It is fast-paced, mature, engaging. It caught my attention and I had a hard time putting it down. This is the third book in the series and I was at a disadvantage, having not read any of the others, but I was able to follow along, despite not knowing anything about the characters. Reminiscent in style to Sheralyn Pratt's books (one of my favourite authors), I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would definitely read more by this author. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

While shorter than the previous books in this series this book still packs a wallop of a good spy story. The struggle Christy has to save the day helps the growth of her character and the rest of her team. I also can't say anything against the relationship that is slowly building between Christy and Jeremy. I'm looking forward to seeing their relationship play out through the rest of the series.

I have really enjoyed the Christy series but I had higher hopes for this one. I had hoped that her and Jeremy’s relationship would evolve more or something to change up the story from the other books but it just remained stagnant and thus making it just another mission completed and all is well. Hopefully the next book will make up for what this one lacked.

Fatal Exchange was one of the books I chose to take with me to read during a long flight overseas. It was a great choice because not only did it keep me entertained but it also made the flight seem much shorter than the 8 hours it took. I received a free copy of Fatal Exchange in exchange for an honest review. It is the third installment in the Christy series about a teenage undercover agent. In Fatal Exchange, she is stationed in Paris where she is working with her team to retrieve a flash drive from a very reluctant French informant who says he has information that puts the entire nation of France in danger. Christy is wearing one of her disguises and moves in to retrieve the drive when things go terribly wrong. Christy's team is supportive of her and believe in her ability to turn things around with the information she was able to retrieve. But, her current director disagrees and suspends her from active duty pending the arrival of her handler who has been MIA for four months. Christy believes that she knows how to turn things around and goes undercover without any active backup in the field where she infiltrates an underground pickpocketing group that turns out to be more dangerous than she could have ever imagined. When she turns up information that she cannot act on alone she goes back to her director and convinces her that the agency should be officially involved to follow-through with the work Christy began. Information is uncovered that makes the mission even more dangerous for not just Christy but also for an organization that reaches the highest levels of the French government.

Fatal Exchange has some really interesting characters. Christy, of course, is a bit of a loose cannon, but she is extremely gifted. The other team members only have cursory descriptions that are more related to their work personalities and duties so we do not know much about them yet other than that they work well together and have good chemistry. Her handler is someone she has deep feelings for and it is a relationship that cannot go beyond co-workers because it is against policy and could cause them to lose their jobs. There is a new addition to the team that comes from Christy's past and their relationship is so volatile that it is not quite clear whether Summer will have her back when things get really bad or if she will leave Christy hanging when it really counts. Fatal Exchange is a great addition to this series and it is full of action and it contains a great story. I had one thread I was not quite sure was answered but, it was not enough to change how much I loved the story. Received in exchange for a honest review. I came into this series with this book and didn’t feel lost. Where you needed background Ms. Hogan provided it for you. I will say I am anxious to read the ones preceding this book. This tale gripped me. I didn’t know to the end why the information was worth killing someone for and who the bad guy was. When you meet Kamal you think aha he’s bad but than that is blurred and you see him as a guy in a tough situation doing what he needs to for the one he loves. So than you have no idea.

Christy is a character you like instantly. she is impulsive and loyal. She doesn’t let things bring her down often and she is crafty. The girl is a great pickpocket as well. The little romance that is started is cute. I am curious as to how that is going to play out with Jeremy. Also her team is awesome especially how they stand by her and help her when they shouldn’t. This is one loyal bunch.

I didn’t like summer. In fact she perturbed me. I can’t believe the roof scene. That turned me on her. Between the taunts and her wanting to get credit for things she just didn’t sit right with me.

The story was gripping. You really have no idea who is the bad guy or why until the very end. And you want to know believe me you want to know. The writing twists you around so that you need to know the outcome of that drive. You need to know if Christy gets back in the good graces of her boss and if the informant’s sacrifice is worth it. The adventures that Christy alone brings you on are full of danger and intrigue than add in when her team secretly helps and it’s a blast. The turns that the story takes as the danger becomes more and the thrill level increases has you gripping your seat and cursing at the bad guys.

This is the tale of a flash drive that can bring the end to a powerful person. A flash drive that causes death and harm. A flash drive that has one girl end up going rogue and her team secretly doing what they can to help her when asked. A tale that follows how one girl goes after the flash drive and what ensues when she does. A story of intrigue, danger, twists, thrills, some funny moments and some touching moments with a little romance thrown in.

Christy is a 19 year-old spy for Division. She is on assignment in Paris, France when the unthinkable happens. She loses evidence and the man she is sent to protect is murdered. Now on leave, she takes it upon herself to infiltrate the gang of pickpockets that stole her thumb drive. The stakes are raised when it is revealed that a high up political figure is after the thumb drive too, and will murder to get it.

My Thoughts-
Wow, this book starts with action and then just keeps going. I enjoyed every minute of this spy thriller. Christy is an amazing character with outrageous skills. Pretty much the dream spy every youth wishes they could be. She also has a forbidden romance going on with her handler, Jeremy. Though he only appears during the second half of the book, the author does a good job with Christy thinking about him at critical times. And then when he returns mid-way, it is unclear if he still feels the same way about Christy and there is some nice angst.

The setting, Paris, is wonderful. The author takes you to all the tourist spots, including the Louvre. She seems to have a good understanding of Paris and describes places with a fresh perspective. There is a great representation of the culture and it's people. It was also nice to see Christy in a different environment than in the first two books.

Character wise, the head of the Paris division drove me nuts. Why is it always the head honcho that makes stupid calls and doesn't trust the main character? That was a bit cliche for me, but it did add tension and set the stage for Christy having to work on her own.

Overall, I think young readers will love this book. The action, adventure and setting are a delight. 5 stars!

This was another fast paced, action packed book in the Christy Spy Series. I had read Hotwire, so was anxious to read this one, as well. It certainly did not disappoint!

The main character in this book is a young woman by the name of Christy Hadden. She isn't just any young woman, though, she is a talented spy. She's been through a lot to get where she is today, and it has made her strong and tough. Still, she shows her youth with an impulsive nature, that tends to get her in a good bit of hot water every now and then.

I thought Christy's character had become a bit more sophisticated in this book. She seemed to be a more adult version, having grown, with more experiences behind her. At the same time, her personality was still intact, and she is just as strong-headed and determined as before.

The complexities in this book were amazing. Set in Paris, with a pickpocket ring central to the plot, there are oodles of familiar scenes, even if you've never been there before. The descriptive passages flow together so seamlessly, it felt to me like I was sitting in Paris, watching the whole scene unfold.

The details of the spy work are enough to keep it interesting, yet not enough to get boring. The action and suspense are what keep the story moving along. And it does move along. Christy and her team have a lot of advanced training, and that makes it all look so easy. Yet, they all encounter dangerous situations, that only their loyalty to one another can save them from.

Of course, there are still those romantic tensions, with the forbidden romance between Christy and her handler, Jeremy. They can't, they mustn't, they won't... or will they?

This was a good book, and fun to read!

So in this book we continue on the journey of 19 year-old Christy as she goes on a new mission to Paris, France. She meets many dilemmas and is forced to think quick on her feet and try to help save the people around her and potentially Paris itself.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I thought it moved along well and I thought it was a good plot. I never have really talked about the pickpocketers in Paris. I mean we all know that Paris has a lot of them, but I gained a different perspective of them as Christy traveled through Paris working with them.

I thought this book continued on the series really well. I loved the first two books in the Christy series and loved the Watched series before those. I'm a huge fan and wasn't disappointed. I think the author did very well as to make it so that people who haven't read the first two books are able to just pick up Fatal Exchange and are able to dive right in. I think it could possibly be easier for those who have read earlier books, because the author does bring back previous characters and it might be nice to know who they are beforehand and to know what there intentions are.

I liked how the story moved and I thought that the plot was great. There were times where I needed to push myself to keep reading through like two chapters, but overall it was easier to keep reading and reading and reading! I loved seeing some of the old characters and I love Christy's charisma and confidence as she works through this new case!

Again, overall it was a great book and I recommend this book to anyone who wants to real a gripping novel about spies and conspiracies. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who has read the previous books. It's worth the time to read in my opinion.

I loved this! It's a fast-paced, enthralling read that kept me interested from the beginning to the end.

Although this is the third in the series and I haven't read the previous books, Hogan does an amazing job of giving pertinent information throughout it to allow the reader to understand people and past events without overloading the reader. I'm definitely interested in reading the previous books in this series now simply so I can see Christy's origin and the journey she took before arriving in Paris.

The characters are fun and interesting. Since this isn't a coming-of-age story, there isn't much character development but the plot carries the book just fine. This was an intriguing read for me and I loved getting to go on Christy's journey with her through her pickpocket rings and the deeper mystery about the drives. I love espionage books and this one definitely did not disappoint me. I would definitely put it as my second favorite YA series for espionage, right after the Gallagher Girl books.

The only reason I docked it a star was simply that there were a few things that didn't make sense to me as well as some of Christy's reasoning didn't make sense as someone who is a spy. There were also some grammar and spelling errors as well as a few missing words in the writing.

Likes: Fun, interesting, easy read. Christy was a fun character. I loved the setting. The plot was fast-paced and kept me wanting to read it. I loved the spy elements as well.

Dislikes: Some of Christy's reasoning didn't make sense as a spy. Grammar/spelling errors.

Overall:
Recommend? Yes.

Fatal Exchange is a fast-paced spy thriller and I enjoyed every minute of it, even though it stressed me out. This is another addition in the Christy series and I don't think they necessarily need to be read in order, but the reader will enjoy them much more if they are. The Watched trilogy introduces us to Christy and how she becomes a spy and the Christy stories expound on her experiences. Each novel focuses on a mission.

Christy finds herself in Paris in this book. I'm always amazed that she's only 19 and has more talents and skills in her little finger than I have. She's fearless, creative, a linguist, possesses a lot of ingenuity, and is a master of disguises. I would probably faint dead away at the first sign of trouble and she managed to take her intense situations and turn them around in her favor.

Christy's mission is to find a flash drive with some incriminating evidence on it, but it's not that cut and dried. I couldn't help but wonder if this author has experience in being a spy or something. Events and transitions are so well done and the characters are phenomenal. I was amazed and stressed at the way things unfolded. I definitely wouldn't make a good spy, but I love reading these books.

Content: one mild expletive; mild-moderate violence (it's a spy thriller--nothing gory or too graphic, but there are deaths, kidnappings, torture, etc); mild romantic elements (kissing); I would consider it clean.

This is the second novel I’ve read by Cindy M. Hogan and I had this book on my TBR list before I ever read anything by this author. This particular story, Fatal Exchange, caught my attention because it is about a teenage spy named Christy and although this book is the third in the series and I hadn’t read the first two, I was still looking forward to jumping right in (technically it would be book #6 since The Watched trilogy is Christy’s story before this series begins). I was given this ebook in exchange for an honest review and here it is:

 4.25 hearts rating

A terrific read. It was fast paced, page-turning, action-packed intrigue from start to finish. Knowing that there were previous books and jumping in here made reading this book in itself a spoiler for me but now I want to read the previous books even more than I did before.

I love how Christy trusts her instincts and her sense of right and wrong will not allow her to blindly follow orders just because they came from higher up the chain, whether that means speaking up and convincing them of other alternatives or even solo missions when she is supposed to be in a time-out. Christy has a team that she is can count on, or at least she’s supposed to be able to depend on them, however in the end she’s got to trust in herself, in her instincts, and follow her heart.

I was excited to read the next Christy book. This is the third book in the Christy series. But before that Christy was in three Watched series. So her character is well built, but she is always learning changing and saving people.
It is full of drama, action, zest and danger in a high energy novel plus a clean read.. I hated to put the book down.
This time Christy is in Paris, France. She is a spy for division. Her mission is to meet someone who is going to drop information on the train but something goes wrong and she loses the information and the informant is murdered.
Christy is dressed down and kicked off the case. She is only 19 years old. Her handler Jeremy has been on a different case for past 4 months and can't be reached. Christy decides she can't just let the case go she is determined to find the flash drive.
You never know what Christy will look like next time you see her. She is smart, fast thinker and reacts fast to the different situations.
This has a lot of twists and turns. Some I guessed at others took me by surprise.
It makes you think to be a little more aware of your belongings. How easy and fast pick pockets can be.
I will keep reading Cindy's novels they are always smart, fun to read.
I was given this ebook to read for free and in return I agreed to give a honest review of Fatal Exchange.

This book is number 3 in the Christy Spy Novel series and was released back in September of this year. I haven’t read the other 2 books, but I didn’t feel behind or confused. I probably would have had a better understanding of the character developments and relationships, but they can still be read as stand alone books.

At first I was worried since the main character is 19 years old, that this would be more for high school level reading or maturity; but I was wrong!

The story was very fast paced with lots of action, drama and some romance. I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next to Christy and her team. I didn’t put the book down until I read the whole thing! It was like reading a girl “James Bond” book.

This series has the potential to have alot of books with Christy’s different missions and adventures for each one. “A spy never has a day where she stops being a spy”.

I would love to read more of this series and books by this author and would highly recommend this book if you like action novels.

“Fatal Exchange” is clean fiction, free of bad language and sex-with a little violence, suitable for high schoolers and above.

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook for blog and social media review from ebooksforreview.com. All opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the Christy series. Chrsity is a teenage spy who is learning to hold her own in a world that most people are unaware exsists.

Christy and her team are given a simple job--retrieve a flash drive from a gentleman that does not wish to be involved. In other words, make it look like he was a victim of a pickpocket. Simple and easy. Christy is going to met the man on the metro, discreetly take the flash drive from his pocket and make sure the gentleman gets off at his stop in one piece. Except nothing goes as planned, a pickpocket grabs Christy's bag from her and jumps off the metro. She decides to abandon the gentleman and go after the pickpocket. The gentleman gets killed and she does not catch the pickpocket--disaster for an agent that is young as Christ. Can she fix this? She has to fix this and protect her team.

This story was good. I enjoyed how it was action packed and it took place in Paris. I really did not miss the first two books in the series and usually I would hate to be dropped in the middle of the backstory. The necessary information was provided without it seeming like itwas a repat of information. I liked Christy for her youth, vitality and her moments of doubt. I would like to read more in this series.

Ooooh, this book was good. I haven't read the other two novels in the series, but after having read this book, I'm going to need to go back and read them. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I didn't feel like I was missing much by not having read the first two books, but I could definitely tell there was some background that I was missing. Christy is a 19 year old undercover spy who has a man die on her watch. She gets reprimanded and told to stay in her apartment, but that was unacceptable to her. She decides to go out and try to discover the killer for herself. Little did she know, it would be much more complicated than she ever could have imagined. She finds herself a pick pocketer in a pick pocketing ring, trying desperately to find something that was stolen from HER from a pick pocketer. She had no idea the consequences of such could be so dire. Great suspense, the perfect amount of discomfort on my part wondering what was going to happen next and if she was going to get caught. I'm going to buy the other two books because I loved Christy so much!

This book is part of a series, yet you can easily pick up on who everyone is, and follow along.
This story is about Christy Hadden, a prodigy spy of only 19. She is very skilled at being a spy, and a real asset to the team, until she messes up this mission.
I found this book to be very gripping at times, thinking now it was going to happen, you are going to find out where all this is leading, to feel the build up to fall short. Hence this book did not grip my attention, and have me turning pages nonstop. I had to push myself to read on, and at 50% I find myself losing interest. This book promises the right amount of romance, yet at the middle of the book I have not come across anything remotely like it. Maybe the main suspect's love interest that is hinted about, yet, I cannot imagine this to be it. Needless to say, with all the books on my to read list, I have stopped this book, maybe to return to it at a later point, I'm not quite sure. I'm sure this is a great read for fans of the series, or readers looking for only suspense, but for me it sadly could not hold my attention throughout the half I have read so far.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review. Christy Hadden is a spy working in Paris. Her latest assignment is to meet an informant to get a flash drive containing vital information about a high government official and corruption. The exchange goes off without a hitch while riding the subway but as Christy is watching the informant to get him off the train safely, a pickpocket grabs her bag and darts off the train. Christy’s assignment is to stay with the informant until he is safely off the train but in a last minute decision, she follows the pickpocket to try to retrieve the stolen drive. When she returns to Division headquarters after unsuccessfully chasing the thief, she learns the informant was stabbed to death just seconds after she left him. Christy gets fired from the Division for her impulsive behavior so she decides to go off on her own and try to find the flash drive and prove herself as a spy. There are obviously previous books in this series but it is not necessary to have read them to enjoy this book.

The third book in the series is as heart pounding and intense as the first two. This time Christy and her team work out of Paris, and the seamy side of the city- pickpockets, murder, and dirty politics-in the french office of their company. Trust and support of Christy and the team are not given freely as they had been in other books, therefore much of the time Christy works on her own-completely unsupported or backed up in any way. When the French division leader finally accepts Christy's plan, she brings in someone to track Christy in case she gets in trouble. To Christy's shock and dismay, the person is non other than Summer-the girl from her Washington DC trip that hates Christy and blames Christy for the death of her boyfriend. Would no back up be better than her?
Another compelling book that is so fantastic that I read until 3am trying to figure it out. I recommend you read the Christy Spy Novels in order. But definitely read them all! They are amazing books, and I hope the series is continued!
