This book provides a basic understanding of dyslexia and includes an overview on current studies, strategies, and consequences. Overall, a great introduction to the topic for both parents and educators.
Just what it says. An easy read. I read it in two sittings. It was one of the required readings for the first week of my first dyslexia certificate class. Another book, Overcoming Dyslexia by Dr. Sally Shaywitz, is considered to be the guidebook for dyslexia. However, it took me months to read that book, so I recommend this Moats & Dakin book to anybody who would like an overview of the subject and to parents of students struggling with reading who may not have the time or energy to read the whole Shaywitz book.
This was a quick read to give educators and parents an overview of dyslexia. It was easy to follow with hardly any medical terminology which is perfect for the lay person. Anyone wanting to know more about dyslexia and how they could help someone with this learning difficulty would benefit from this book.
This was a great overview of the topic of dyslexia, including research and some instructional implications. It would be good for families and teachers alike to understand some of the consequences of this disorder and some solutions moving forward.
Good but basic information on dyslexia. Resource list at the end of organizations that help parents and educators provide help to students with dyslexia. Not a lot of specific strategies, but a good overview.
