This book promises more than it delivers. I have lived in Cambridgeshire for nearly 26 years and was looking forward to finding out about the spectres that haunt the highways, byways, stately homes and more of this beautiful and historic county. It begins well with lots of ghost tales and reported sightings centred in and around the colleges of Cambridge university. But once it leaves the university behind, it becomes more of a whistle-stop tour with some places receiving no more than a cursory nod to witness' sightings. The author ignores the ghosts of the the city centre - of which there are many! 👻 He completely ignores Huntingdon! How could he! I live in Huntingdon! It's the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell. Of course his ghost is seen here! To be fair, he does mention sightings of Cromwell's head seen floating in one of the colleges at Cambridge university, and also at his family home in Ely, but that's it.

The book does not cover recently recorded sightings and in fact, few are from the 20th century, which made me think that the witnesses are probably ghosts themselves by now!

I found some stories amusing - that's all I am saying ..!
Look, if you just want a quick read and are not too concerned about the geography of the sightings,
then I recommend it. You will get something from it. I didn't.

A short paperback (less than 100 pages) which can be read with ease in one sitting. It's not scary, but if you want an atmosphere, read it in the evening ... who knows what may happen?👻

As usual, I have total respect for the author's work. The review is my opinion and no more.
