This book recounts the personal account of a holocaust survivor. It was so tragic that at times I was literally in tears. Cannot even imagine the pain people must have gone through. Reading something like this makes you want to question humanity! .. and pray that nothing like this ever happens to anyone again.

This is not a book for the feint hearted. The author relates her personal experience as a young 22 year old Jewish girl growing up in Poland. She communicates the heartache of suddenly being torn from family and community to live a life of fear and uncertainty. Trapped between the German and Soviet forces, the family fees struggling to remain together. Once captured, the men and women are quickly separated. Regina and her mother are torn from her father and male siblings. They are moved from the ghetto to Auschwitz where Regina loses her mother and befriends Elka. Regina describes in graphic detail the physical, mental and emotional atrocities of prison life. Then she is marched to Majdanek, where she remains close to death until "liberated." Two thirds of the Jewish population as well as many whom the Nazis viewed as undesirables would be wiped out during World War II.

This book is recommended for young adult and adult audiences who are prepared to read about one of the darkest events in history.

Stories like this always catch my heart and I find it difficult to believe a world could exist such as a time of the Holocaust. It's even more profound when you read about her story of survival during such a dark time in history. Books such as this should be included in school reading courses.

This book just about had me crying. What the individual had gone through was terrible. I really felt like I was there and honestly it was quite disturbing. Really quite chilling.

The book needs more editing. There are several spelling mistakes. Even though it wasn't professionally written, it was very honest. A straight forward, blunt, honest account of everything that happened to this one young woman. Even though I had read that death camps and concentration camps existed, and even some general idea of what happened there, it was nothing like this. To hear it from someone who was actually there, and the details of how it felt, it's completely different. Even though I knew that she survived (otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to write her story), I still cried when she told about her rescue. And even though we all assume and think that everyone who were rescued survived and were able to live their lives, that's not true. They had to fight to recover from their torture, both physically and mentally. No matter how much I read about WWII, I still can't imagine how people survived and endured it. This story, in its simplicity, was very powerful. Thank you, Regina, for sharing your story.

I got this free through Kindle and I am glad I downloaded it. This follows Regina as her family tries to escape the looming Nazi threat in Poland, but are ultimately captured and she is sent to Auschwitz. It's written as if she is just telling her story and it has been put straight into print. So it's not very polished. It reads like she is just telling you her story. I did not mind that considering the nature of the book. It makes it more personal. The horrors she has endured are disturbing and heartbreaking, and I know that her story is just one of millions.

I am not sure if there is an actual rise in numbers of those that deny the holocaust and its devastation, or if the internet just gives them a louder voice. It seems like I am hearing that idiocy more and more. That is why stories like hers, and all the others are important. As she states in the book, she is an eye witness to the atrocities that the Jews and others suffered under Hitler's reign. Her story stands as another testimony against that regime and those that try to rewrite history.

There is another shorter story at the end. It is that of a man who was a young German boy during the rise of Hitler. That story was a bit more disjointed, but you could tell that he genuinely feels remorse for he inaction of his people while others were being tortured and killed. It seems like he is trying to explain why the German people let this happen in their back yards, but he takes responsibility for their purposeful ignorance. It is an interesting view from a citizen of a nation that was swept away by Hitler's cunning propaganda.

I have read a few books about Holocaust survivors, but this was probably one of the most harrowing. I ignored the spelling mistakes & minor errors because the pain that came through the narration of this book overtook everything.

I chose 5 Stars for This Author who had so much will to live.
The horrors They All went Through. If it wasn't happening to them, They still had to watch.

ANOTHER account of a Jewish life in Germany during Nazism

Unfortunately, this account has not been proof read. I find it distracting, and wonder why. A sad tale of a young lady's survival, first in a ghetto and then a concentration camp. Also an account of a young German.

The horror of Holocaust

This is the most horrific story I have ever read. As an American I also feel shame that I live in a world that would allow this. May God forgive us all.
